2S 2" HD Power Whoop

This is a copy of Mr. Shutterbug's 2S Shark Byte BetaFPV 85X build (YouTube Link Here). Everything I did is identical except that I used a different AIO board. Mine weighs about 3g more than his but very similar.

This was easily the most difficult build I've done due to having to fit the flight controller on the bottom. It took lots of trial and error to figure out what would work, where to fit things, and the order of assembly.

The first flight controller I got was a 20A F7 and was way too large to fit underneath. The new board fits perfectly. I removed the motor plugs on the baord and motors in favor of direct soldering. I was able to solder everything to the AIO and then very carefully put it in place, first putting two motors through a hole in the frame, then lowering the board in place and raising the other side, I was able to put the other two motors through a hole in the other side of the frame. The AIO is attached underneath with screws facing upwards, the RX is wrapped in kapton tape and wedged between the AIO and the battery holder, and the VTX is attached on top in the standard FC location.

The canopy works great (designed by Mr. Shutterbug) and I printed mine in Sainsmart 95A TPU.

The quad flies great and is surprisingly quiet. Flight times are pretty short at 3m but I've been really ripping it - could possibly stretch to 4m if you were cruising. I've crashed quite a bit already, taking chances I wouldn't usually, and no damage thus far. I've always been able to fly it home, even after landing upside down in decently tall grass in my yard.

If I can tune out some of the washout (helped tremendously by raising the idle up to 5%) then this may usurp my 3S TP3 as my favorite quad. I would like a little more power so have ordered some higher pitched props to try, and may try flying it on 3S with a throttle limit.

I have so enjoyed having prop guards that I have designed some to 3D print for my TP3 to see how I like it. Printing in PETG next to me as I type this...power whoop, baby!

Dry Weight: 55.5g
All-Up-Weight: 85.2g

Hi, did you have to shave down the frame at all to accommodate the FC ? It looks lower around the inner edges.

SquishinStix   Jul 18, 2022

I think you are actually looking at the VTX which is mounted on top and did require some trimming of the frame, which I did with a hobby knife. The FC is actually mounted upside down on the underside and did not require any trimming but did require pre-soldering the motors and some difficult maneuvering to get it into place.

I see. Ok thanks for the feedback. It seems not all boards fit this frame easily. I have a Diatone F4 25 amp board that seems to sit higher than it should over the plastic grooves so I might have to shave down the frame or go with a carbon frame...

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
