Armattan Marmotte 2019 6s Build 1750 kv

update: the steele motors lasted all of a week and i had issues, bells bent on a light crash i replaced the "premium" motors for XING. much more reliable and strudy, the steele motors were junk.

This is my first build, after buying more than a few BNF and PNP i wanted to build my own quad. my soldering is less than perfect but enough to get the job done. I bought 3-4 practice boards and learned to solder and also de-solder using wick and a solder sucker. My flight experience is DRL sim over 100hrs and climbing and flying a 3 inch tiny hawk freestyle and a 5 inch Nazgul 5. I will say there is a but of difference from the sim to a real quad, my 3 inch has suffered the brunt of my learning curve. ive replace AIO boards, soldered parts, swapped VTX and recievers more than a couple times as well as motors. With all this being said, on to my first build.

I went with the Lumineer f7 mini stack, it was decent for the price. I wanted to build a 6S freestyle quad that would take a few hits and be as reliable as possible. After doing a lot of research and talking to more than a few people i picked out my components. This is my first build, i have flown 3 inch and a BNF iflight 6s quad, i figured it was time to build a custom rig to my specs. I went with the mini stack to help with weight, chose the Mr steel stout v3's after hearing and reading a lot of good stuff about those motors, they narrowly beat out xing 2207 1800kv motors. I have seen a lot of people using the Armattan and its one of the most built frames on rotor builds so i figured i couldnt go wrong. I will be building over the holiday as i will have some down time. I will post up a lot of pics as i build it and possibly a video at the end. Wish me luck folks, im gonna need it. Ive learned a lot by watching countless youtube videos and speaking with other on the phone and in the forums about beta flight, wiring, schematics and how to put together components.

I will update as i build and post the final result. pics also will be updated throughout build.

parts and list
issues i had etc

12/13/19 How fitting on fri the 13th i get all my stuff and start assembly on my frame. The center standoff is only threaded on one side, had to return whole frame today and getfpv is sending a new one. My build is delayed for atleast 3-4 days as i await my new frame shipment. : (

My Color scheme with be white and black with a hint of crystal blue.

Finally received all my components and built the quad. it wasnt a terrible difficult build. It was straight forward and i updated to betaflight 4.1.1. I did run into an issues with the onboard flash for blackbox. i had to reflash to non-legacy version of 4.1BF to get it to recognize it had onboard flash memory. soldering the board was easy and the manual is simple so i had to call for help on some of the UARTS. After building the quad i flew it, it flies nice but the stock tune needs adjustment and i am following UAVTECH advice and following his tuning principles. I will say on one of my test flights i lost spatial awareness and had a very minor crash, in grass while coming in for a landing. it bent two of my motor bells. I was more than disappointed as these are "premium" motors. i replaced two bells and a fresh set of props and good as new. The VTX has been flawless with video feed and im running 800mw. The quad seems a but under powered with these motors at times but it could be my props. I have some props on order with a bit lower pitch for more initial response and lower top end. 5x4 we will see how they do. I have learned a ton building my first quad, going forward i think i will use different motors.

Lou, looks a nice build. Do you have any BF settings you can show. I have the same stack and am getting issues where the motors spin up to max with min throttle. Any screen shots would be very handy.

are your props on or off when spinning up? if the props are not on and its connected to BF thats notmal put props on and fly.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
