So having crashed and repaired quite a few RTF quads from the Emax Babyhawk R to the Emax Hawk 5 I decided it was finally time to build my own quad. So after much deliberation, I decided upon the Catalyst Machineworks Smooth Operator; and given that I already had 3 inch and 5 inch quads and 3S and 4S quads, I figured I'd build something completely different and went for the 6inch, 6S capable build. All in all it probably isn't the wisest choice for a first build, but with a bit of attention to detail and forward planning, it is fairly straight forward. I must admit, it is one of the sturdiest frames I have come across and really does live up to its name. It is now the smoothest flying quadcopter I own! Anyway, here's my build!

See what really pisses in my cornflakes is you post this photoshopped quad up hoping to get lots of praise for it, AND you tell us its your first build. COME ON MAN, we all know you stole this picture off of google. Ha! Seriously hands down best ive seen yet. I'm a huge fan of the frame, and exactly what you did with it. Awesome job man, if this is the first, what the heck does it look like at quad 6-7 ?! Keep it up, your definitely in the right hobby lol

Hahahaha.... Brilliant! I would take full ownership of the photoshop claim.... except for one thing.... ive been staring at my copy of Photoshop for Dummies since 1999 and still havent got a single clue how to use it! But thanks dude. If it makes you feel any better it took me about three days compared to the two hours it seems to take everyone else to build a quad, but I think thats more a symptom of my perfectionism than anything else. I still wanna take it all apart and tidy up some of my solder joints, except the damn thing just flies so well, im leaving it alone! Thanks a lot for your kind words and I'll send CMW a copy and see what they think! PS... Quad two is underway, frame and motors selected... stay tuned!

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
