I've flown my fair share of whoops, 2", 3", and 5". But when I saw Jordan's Super G+ 7", I was anxious to try it out. Now that the frames are back in stock, I set out to dive into the world of 7" cruising.

I've flirted with "long range" in the past. My 3" RotorX Switchback, which was later converted to a Ptero Split frame, was a successful experiment in micro LR and split FPV/HD recording solutions. That rig is perfect for micro and descrete locations, but chasing the jello ghosts looking for the perfect footage can be exhausting.

I'm planning for this beast to be a GoPro haulin' endurance cruise monster. I want the ability to cover long distances in a short amount of time and to have more time than ever in the air to explore.

I understand 7" tunes can be tricky at times, but I'm helpful the Helio helps. Its sad to say, but this is my first BLHeli 32 build, so I'm excited to see any potential benefits in the smoothness or response of these huge motors. I'm just excited to get this in the air.

I've got to thank Benson (the long range master), Wrckt (my favorite Canadian), and Jet (Project 399) for thier patience, guidance, and suggestions on this project. Even if I didn't listen to all of them. Thanks guys.

I did end up doing some things different with this build. I wanted the option to either top or bottom mount my battery depending on the flying style. So I mounted the lower, bottom plate towards the rear, instead of toward the front as designed. That position allows a bottom mounted battery against the whole bottom plate. However, I also noticed the small 20mm standoffs in the front drastically limited the camera angle of my micro eagle. Therefore, I decided to keep the plate orientation, mount the larger 28mm standoffs in the front, and purchase 35mm matching standoffs (36mm with a washer) for the rear. In my opinion, this may also provide greater yaw authority as a top mounted battery will be further out of the plane of the props and the air will be able to moee freely move through the open frame. Maybe it helps. We'll see.

The build came out to 430g dry and 750g with a 5S 2200mah.

This quad started its life with a Helio Spring v2 and Mach 3 VTX. This spring, I added the TBS Unify Pro32 HV and a CL Racing F7 FC. I threw a 22x22x10mm heatsink on the Pro32 to make sure it stays cool at 1.6W (its not mounted on against the carbon as recommended).

I've updated the FC to a BrainFPV Radix. I'm really enjoying the Brain OSD and extra crsf data elements. The Radix only takes 5V, so I installed a 2A vreg on the underside of the FC. I also added an AirbladeUAV/TrueRC Tuffpole antenna a bit further back and higher up to maximize the control link.

Those are awesome little reciever/vtx mounts. Its a really neat idea how you integrated the Immortal-T mount in to it as well.

The RX mount was designed by NX Graphics - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3238638

The GPS mount can be found here, but I modified it to remove the screw holes - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3334939

I designed the VTX "shelf." I can upload it to thingiverse soon.

Brother, I love the shelf, can you please throw that on thingiverse

Great looking build! How's the performance on 5s with the 2507 1850kv motors? I have those same motors on my 7" quad and I am thinking about moving up to 5s from 4s.

dear friend, one question:what is it the blu effect photo of your esc ?
thanks in advance

FrenchB   Aug 05, 2019

The electronics are confirmal coated to protect against water. The blue glow is what you see when you shine UV light on conformal coating.

That isn't a TBS Unify Pro32 HV on the photos...

FrenchB   Jun 22, 2019

Good eye, sir. I just installed the Pro32 HV this week and have not updated the photos. It was initially built a few months ago with the RDQ Mach 3.

roboluc   Jun 22, 2019

Thanks 😎, Is the Unify Pro32 HV a good vtx? Do you like it more than the RDQ Mach 3?

hey, looks amazing...I´m just figuring out, if I do a 5S or 6S build for the G+. Whats your flightime with 2200mah 5S on the 1850kv?

FrenchB   Mar 02, 2019

So far, I've mainly been cruising and doing sharp moves for PID tuning. I've been getting 7:40 - 8:50 minutes while only taking out 1250-1500 mah and coming down at 3.8/cell. I haven't pushed the batteries yet, but I'm guessing 10+ minutes will be easy.

littlebird_fpv   Mar 03, 2019

ok, thats exactly what I´m looking for. cruisen-LR. Do you tried on 4s? I think about use the 2507 2100kv, so I can fly 4S and 5S... what do you think?

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
