Hi fellow Quad fanatics. This is my second build (first build was same frame but cheaper parts, based on UAV Futures $99 build). I really like how this turned out.
I'm still new(ish) to the hobby, but really enjoying myself including the frustrations that come with learning to navigate Betaflight!

Anyway, after already having the same frame for my first build & having many crashes... with only breaking a VXT (& losing the antenna) I figured I would keep with the same frame again the Martian 2. But this time choosing some better quality components & man big difference in performance!

In my first build I had the cheap flight controller which gave my some trouble so swapped that out for the Matak F405-CTR flight controller & it hasn't missed a beat. So I have used again in this build. I went with the Dal engine for the 4in1 ESC & this has been great so far (have had about 20 packs thru it). My original build had some Racerstar motors & although they have been fine, I went with the new Emax RS11 2306 2400kv motors. Boom time! these things are f--king fantastic compared to the Racerstars. So smooth!

I have used the Matak VTX & this works well. Where I fly it's 400m to the end of the field & reception is fine. I'm rocking the older Foxeer Monster V2 camera, but will be swapping this out soon, as it is a 16:9 camera & my googles are 4:3. I just upgraded the camera on my first build to the Runcam Rotor Riot 2 & i'm very happy with the improved picture. But only comes in silver so doesn’t suit my black & red colour scheme.
I'm looking to upgrade my Fatshark Predator V2 googles (got the hall pass from wife to part with the cash). So once I have decided on new googles I will upgrade the camera as well.

I'm stoked with the outcome of this build. Although a 5 inch quad is a little limiting as to where you can fly, so I'm currently building a 2.5 inch / 3s Quad. I live across the road from a school so a 2.5 inch will be perfect for ripping around there on the weekends. Build details to follow soon..... Over & Out for now.

From Newbe no longer :)

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
