I felt like building a big boi quad with a semi-autonomous/GPS/etc. flight controller & this was the result. Originally built with Tarot 4108/380kv & generic T-style carbon fibre props I later upgraded it to much smoother running T-Motor 3508/380kv & APC MR props. It went around Pakistan before the upgrade & Iceland after.

In hindsight I really don't like the frame nor the massive Peli case it needs for safe transport, so I'm toying with the idea of selling the case & rebuilding with the much better looking Daya H4 680 frame which will also fit into a much smaller Peli case that I already own.

Great design. You did a good job

hi, nice build!
can you please upload a photo of pixhawk servo rail?
I wonder if you supplied power (5V) to the servo rail to be used by XRotor 40A ESCs

I no longer have this build. I did supply 5V to the servo rail for backup power to the PIxhawk (with a Zener diode, as explained by the Ardupilot wiki).

The ESCs do not require 5V power, they are only connected to battery, ground & signal.

thank you :-)

Can you tell me where you purchased the carrying case? Looks great.

It's a Peli Storm iM3220, any authorised Peli/Pelican dealer in your country should be able to hook you up.

Have you experienced any problems using the higher voltage battery with the 4s max rated batteries on eithr of your builds that use the Tarot motors?

After further investigation on my end it looks like I purchased MN3508 KV580's instead of the KV380's. In your opinion would you say it would be safe to use the KV580 motors? The 380's are out of stock every where I've looked at onine with the USA and buying from T-motor direct wont fit in my budget as they are selling the KV380's for $90 USD.

sorry $70 not $90

I wouldn't run the 580kv on 6S, as the T-Motor website says they are a 3-4S model. You might get away with it, especially if you set the max throttle way beneath 100%, but I personally wouldn't risk it.

AirbladeUAV has done it again and this time they've brought long range to the 5" class! Based on the popular Transformer Mini, the new Transformer 5" Ultralight adopts a lot of the same design philosophies with larger props and more payload capacity. It can fly upwards of 20 minutes on a 4 cell Li-Ion battery pack and in ideal conditions it's got a range of over 4 to 5 miles. In this guide I'll walk..

With the release of the DJI FPV Drone cinematic FPV has become a lot more accessible, but you certainly don't want to crash a $750 drone! The QAV-CINE Freybott is a compact, lightweight cinematic FPV drone that can take a hit and keep going. It's a lot safer to fly indoors and around people. With a naked GoPro or the SMO 4k you can capture some great stabilized footage. In this guide I'll show you..
