One of the most disappointing titles of 08 is Alone in the Dark.
Pros:
- good visuals (but you often won't be able to appreciate them due to a crazy camera)
- good effects (fire and electrical)
- good soundtrack
- good (looking) inventory (it's only good conceptually though, NOT good in practice)
- a nice rebuild-a-world concept. Eden did this incredibly well with Test Drive Unlimited. I suggest you buy that game instead.
Cons:
- EVERYTHING ELSE
- the camera/view/perspective is insane and simply uncontrollable. This game has a 1st person/3rd person/3rd person (forced) perspective. It switches back and forth between these perspectives every 5 seconds against your will (you have no choice), disorienting you, and when the perspective changes the control layout also changes which is even further disorienting. This means that if you are looking around in 1st person (with right thumbstick - like every other game in the world) and the game sudden changes to 3rd person (because they think it's

I've been reviewing games for Amazon since 1999. I've seen the worst of games...Daikatana, most especially. Now, after many moons have passed, I have come across one of the worst, if not, the buggiest, most annoying piece of program I have ever encountered in my life. Alone in the Dark is a major disaster, from it's storyline, dialogue, annoying voice acting, frustrating controls, unforgiving checkpoints, and the most buggiest collision detection EVER! The only PLUS in this game are the graphics but that's about it. So I'll keep my review straight and to the point:
GRAPHICS: Excellent. No complaints
CONTROLS: Main character moves like a tank with a bad engine. Controls are completely unresponsive. Some buttons do not function as stated. For example, you press A to turn off a flashlight. If you're holding a gun in one hand and holding a flashlight on the other, you can't press A to turn it off. You have to press the gamepad down, open your virtual jacket and then unequip from there. HOW

i bought this game from walmart recently and it is a disgrace to the dbz franchise. It has this little crappy cut scenes that get interupt the fight like 7 times in one fight and not that many characters to choose from only 21... And you hardly have any ki attacks like for goku you got kamehameha and spirit bomb.. thats basically it. thois game sucks!!!!!!!!!!!

The good:
- C&C continues to have the best controls on a console. The new radial interface is an improvement and helps with gaining some 'speed' when selecting the commands. I was worried that this interface would be as sensitive as Mass Effect, but it's not. Selecting what you want is easy.
- The missions are well balanced and are not necessarily harder than C&C3. The problem - as usual - is not with the game difficulty, but with selecting the controls as fast as with a mouse. I don't know if difficulty has been toned a little for this XBox 360 version, but it's manageable.
- This is an expansion pack, but doesn't require the other game to play it. Missions start similarly to C&C3, without having the entire Tech Tree available from the early missions. This will help out people that never played this before, as will give them a chance to learn the game. There is also a Boot Camp section - but it's too basic. SPOILER ALERT: Skipping the Boot Camp unlocks an achievement.

The Alone in the Dark series goes back a long way (even pre-dating the Resident Evil franchise) in terms of pioneering the survival horror genre, with this new installment kind of being a re-boot for the series. Once again filling the shoes of paranormal investigator Edward Carnby, Alone in the Dark finds Carnby caught in the middle of an apocalyptic event while investigating strange happenings in Central Park. The first thing you'll notice is that Alone in the Dark boasts some wonderfully creepy and spooky environments that drip with eerie atmosphere. In fact, the areas are so well designed that you'll often find yourself admiring your surroundings while dodging demons and beasts. The game looks good in general as well, despite a few graphical glitches that occur, while the game's solid score adds to the overall survival horror atmosphere. What's really sad about Alone in the Dark is that the game's potential to be something special is marred by technical issues. Namely, just moving

This game is very easy to just pick up and play if you don't want to get involved with the meat and poatoes of the game.
You have the option of starting from the ground up in all three major NASCAR series-CraftsMan Trucks, NationWide, and Sprint Cup.
On the other hand if your thing is unlimited tweaking of every possible thing on the car and TONS of "paint booth" things you won't be disappointed. This game is 100% better than last years.
You can look forward to endless hours of fun. The multiplayer is very smooth also, as can be expected with XBox Live

Top Spin 3, the latest in the series started by Top Spin on the original Xbox, revamps the rather simple control system of the first two games into one that is quite a bit more complex and intricate, but eventually more rewarding. Holding the shot button does not automatically move you into position, nor does it guarantee a good shot - now you must watch the ball, manually move into the correct position, and release the button at the correct time in order to hit a decent shot. Being in the wrong position or mistiming the button release leads to weak shots and errors. There is a "Tennis School" section devoted to helping players learn the new system and unlearn habits from the previous games, but only with repeated practice does the system become second nature. When everything starts to click, though, the game becomes very satisfying - you know it was your skill and experience that let you hit that screamer down the line, not the computer's automated hand-holding.

I played hours of BF2 so I love the online team combat fps game play. I have played days of RB6 and COD4. Five reasons why the online Xbox live game play just stinks right now.
1. you can not chat with anyone outside your squad of 4 people. So you do not know what the other 8 people on your team is doing or planning.
2. you do not have a server list or even any idea what maps are being played and can spend a lot of time trying to find good games to join.
3. When you invite your friends into the game it may put them on the other team. Wow, how could this have been overlooked? Spend time getting out of games and trying it again.
4. EA reset the stats from the demo so everyone should have started at 0 points but through some kind of cheat a lot of players already have 78,000 points from playing just one day.
5. I only got to play just one game then the EA servers went down and could not get back on. Looks like EA prepared poorly for the rollout of the game.
6. extra credit: with

Battlefield: Bad Company is a fun game to play. Right away I noticed the game has probably the best sounds of combat I have ever heard in a game. From the sounds of weapons firing to the sounds of armored vehicles running, the game is great to listen to. The sounds of mortar shells coming down and exploding around you is just unbelievable. When I walk through forests and fields, I can actually hear the sounds of birds chirping, dogs barking, and cows mooing.
The graphics in the game are just great too. I love looking at the water in streams and rivers. It looks very real. The forests and villages in this Eastern European setting are really beautiful to look at in this game.
I like how you can jump in different vehicles to drive around in and there is a car radio in the vehicle to listen to while you are driving around. There are several different radio stations to listen to. I love the music in this game.
The AI in this game is pretty smart. When enemy soldiers see me,

Okay let me first state that this is a thinking man's survival horror, not a balls to the wall action title. You should expect exploration, puzzle solving, story, dark atmosphere and some scares/suspenseful moments. Where this AITD differs from its predecessors is the level of story telling and the inclusion of some action sequences that usually start run of the mill casual and suddenly jump forward when you start to get comfortable, but the major action sequences are heart racing and challenging ( i.e. Racing full speed through a collapsing New York City while an primordial evil tries to tear the very street out from underneath you, or platforming your way around the outside of a burning New York sky rise while it collapses around you.).
As far as control goes, AITD has two different scemes: FPS (which works fine) and an over the back camera (A little frustrating). You can switch between the two at will, which lessens the hurt of the camera issues. While fighting with a me lee weapon,

I tried really hard to like this game... I really did. I played Vice City 4 times through, played San Andreas 3 times through. This one, I still haven't beat and barely pick up. It's lacking. GTA was known for pushing limits in gaming and for it's sandbox attitude. Most of the time I'm just asking myself why I'm still playing it.
Pros: The storyline is great. I think this is the most solid story yet. It's creative and integral to the game. The graphics are much nicer than before. The explosions are very realistic. The characters are far more interesting than they used to be. It's sad this is all I can find positive.
Cons: This should be long. Where do I start? How about the first thing that made me angry. Where is my sandbox? I can't change hairstyles and can't customize my clothes much. This gives me little involvement or personal belonging to the main character which I PLAY! It's like they said, "San Andreas was way too complicated with all that clothing and hairstyles... nobody liked

As a long standing owner of Xboxes (the original and now a 360) I was pretty excited to see a DBZ game on an Xbox finally. I've played Budokai on the psp and some Tenkaichi on the PS2.
This game plays like a ported copy of the PSP game with better cutscenes. As was mentioned in some of the other reviews, the game stops at the end of the Cell Saga. I can't even think of any other DBZ games that do that. The transformations are a bare minimum, with Goku being the only character I found with more than one (Kaioken and SSJ1).
Long story short, Tenkaichi 2 on the PS2 was twice as good as this game and that's been out for years. The only way you should even consider buying this game is if you're a DBZ fan that's never played a DBZ video game, and you don't have access to a PS2 or 3. The -only- thing this game has over any other DBZ game, even the PSP versions, is decent voiceovers and cutscenes.

NASCAR games are typically underperformers and far from the kind of simulated experience I've wanted for so long. Here the game developers have sought to fix some of those issues. For example, you can adjust on the car more than in previous NASCAR iterations. (In previous versions you really only needed to lower the air pressure to fix handling issues. Other tweaks didn't seem to have much affect). The car handles much better and with much more realism. Tire wear and fuel issues are also more realistic and pit strategies seem to mean more. It is also nice that the AI can no longer plow into you with seeming overwhelming force with little you can do to resist their aggressions.
Off the track there is a lot more going on this year. One of the big let downs in previous games was the lack of anything to do when not racing. Here there is a lot going on in the garage. I happen to like Jeff Gordon, so it didn't bother me to have him around as a guide through the game. I can imagine some die-hard

So i bought this game yesterday 6-11. Couldnt wait to get off work so i could go play. put the game in and actually sit through the tutorials. Lets say i was very impressed with gameplay and how fluent it worlked. After i finished tutorial i went to the saga. Now being someone that owned all budokai's i was expecting a decent length and substancial storyline. To say the least i was wrong. I finished the story that night. I mean what a rip i only got up to the cell saga? I came in thinking it was all the way through to buu at least and had all the characters i came to love in budokai 3. Instead of giving me movies at the end of each saga they could have put some effort into actually finishing the series. When i buy a game i buy it for substance some good gameplay. Not half of a game with better graphics. Btw they include the first disk of season one which pissed me off even more. Since season one came out last year if not two years ago and most of us hardcore fans already bought

First and foremost, I do like the Dragon Ball series. I enjoy the stories and shrug off the unrealistic fighting. This game is for the fans and fighting genre players.
First, let me talk about the Story Mode. There are only 3 story arcs: Vegeta, Frieza and Cell Sagas. This is where I have a problem. There is plenty of room for the Buu Saga. A casual gamer can beat the Story Mode on Normal (including the bonus modes) in about 3-4 hours (real time). The Buu Saga could have added another 2 hours.
The difficulty levels range from Very Easy, Easy and Normal. Once you complete the entire story, Hard and Very Hard will be unlocked. Lastly, the Z Mode will be unlocked. The difficulty levels of the AI is very balanced and once players find their comfort zone, they will really enjoy themselves. The only flaw I noticed was the last 5 or so levels in the Cell Saga. The difficulty jumped abruptly and made the final stages take a half dozen tries (at times) to beat. Sure, it's the last

I've had it for a week now and I believe I've gotten the new Falcon chipset with 175 Watt power supply. So far it's frozen once while playing the Ninja Gaiden II demo, but nothing else has happened. *crosses fingers*
PROS:
- Great library of games, nice controller, aesthetically pleasing hardware, GREAT online services, supports DIVX and WMV-HD, so you can watch movies from external storage devices.
-The XBL Marketplace is great with a ton of demos, arcade games, add-ons, movies, TV shows, and game videos. The HD movie selection is mind-boggling. I've already downloaded over 35 demos and I don't even own a game yet.
- The interface is smooth and easy to use.
- You can stream media from a Mac or PC with the right software (Connect360 for Mac, not sure about Windows side).
CONS:
- Not sure if I want to pay $50 a year for the Gold membership's online gaming and getting demos sooner than Silver users. PS3's online gaming is free for the most part (aside from DLC).

The inexpensive XBox 360 Live Vision camera is natively recognized by current versions of Mac OSX, without having to install any drivers: just plug it in, and you can immediately video conference using iChat, Skype, etc...
Focus is manual (unlike the iSight, which has powered focusing and can be set to autofocus mode). The picture quality is excellent, very sharp and low light sensitivity perfectly adequate.
A green light ring illuminates around the base of the lens to warn you that the camera is on.
A perfect, inexpensive way to give your older Mac, Mac mini or MacPro video conferencing capability.
Also in the box: a mono headset with mike for XBox. Unfortunately, the connector is just non-standard enough that it only works on XBox, but it's an extra toy for the same price.
All in all, great value for Mac users!

I am on my 4th Xbox 360 and today it has just given up the ghost.
1st - lasted 3 months
2nd - 1 month
3rd - 3 months
current - 7 months
The Indian robot phone support woman has told me that it is out of warranty less than one year after my last return. Overall, the various machines have been in the shop a collective 8 weeks - twice during school holidays. I cannot begin to communicate how disgusted I am with this - even after the well documented design failures it seems nothing has changed.
Do yourself a favor. You should buy this machine if you are willing to pay that price for 1 years operation, then play the odds if you get more than that out of your console.
I have written to microsoft requesting an extended warranty but I don't like my chances.

I have had the Xbox 360 since late 2007. In that time I have played it extensively. I have had the dreaded three red rings and sent it back to Microsoft under warranty. While very annoyed and frustrated I have to admit that the Microsoft turnaround time was excellent. I had it back in just over a week.
While I think the Xbox 360 offers a great gaming experience there are definitely some major issues:
1. I think the biggest single issue with the Xbox 360 above all others is its reliability. Prior to the 360 I had a Playstation 2. It never let me down. I have owned numerous computers, televisions, DVDs & other electrical products. You very rarely have to rely on the warranty as they just do not break down. It is a given that when you boot up your computer it turns on (unless a software issue!), when you press the button on your remote the TV fires up and so on. However, with the Xbox 360 every time you press the big button you cross your fingers that it glows green and not red. I never

Let me start off by saying that I am a 30 year old male and that I absolutely love this game. Normally I would not purchase games of this genre, but since i loved the movie so much, I went ahead and picked it up. This game has great depth, believe it or not, and has good replay value. The graphics and controls are amazing and the fun factor is top notch, mos def. I recommend this to anyone of any age, If you are an experienced gamer, then I would set the difficulty level to dragon warrior, but the normal setting is still a good challenge. I promise that you will not be upset with your purchase of this game.
