Received the Eee 901 last week and was estatic till I learned that you could not use a Verizon USB card/modem for internet connection. I am not a pro here, but how did I miss this info before buying????

I've had my Eee PC 901 12G for about two weeks now and it's the best notebook PC I've ever had. I decided two years ago that the next notebook I bought would have an SSD, be cheap and be very small, so this was really the only option.
My only quip is that ASUS put the WinXP OS on the 4GB C: drive with too many other things and that leaves too little room for updates and the like that the OS wants to install there. I made the initial mistake of putting Outlook 2003, Office 2000 and Firefox 3 on C: and finally scrapped them, uninstalled and reinstalled to D: where there was almost 8 GB of unused space (thus the 12GB total).
Since they are the three primary apps I'm using the system is rock solid and I can't comment on its use for games and so on. I don't miss the DVD drive as I can install software from a share on my desktop and the light weight and long battery life mean it's become just as primary a PC as my desktop was.
I think, if the battery lasts or a replacement is cheap enough,

I bought the blue version of this Acer One with 512mb ram and 8GB SSD at a local store instead of this white one because for a clumsy and lazy guy like me, it's gonna turn black in a few weeks. This thing is super small compared to the pictures. Lets say a regular piece of paper will swallow it whole. I am a windows guy because I'm used to it, but I am starting to love Linux on this netbook.
There is an "advanced" mode on this netbook to enable all the features of Linpus such as add and removing programs. To do this, open a terminal(Files > My Documents to open the File Manager. Then go to File > Terminal.) and type in "xfce-setting-show" without the quotation. Click on Desktop to get to the Desktop Preferences and click on the Behavior tab. Now check the "Show desktop menu on right click" option and close the window. Now you will see a menu every time you right click on the desktop. You can also add icons of the newly installed programs to the desktop; YouTube can help you with that.

hello!
I had bought the asus eee pc 4 gb. I got it and at first, I absolutely LOVED it. Then, the webcam started messing up, the voice command was very sketchy, and the internet wireless was also sketchy. So, I returned the Asus and tried out this little laptop. Right from the start, it looked much more solid than the Asus, and just like a higher quality laptop. I brought it home and it picked up my wireless right away. The startup is VERY fast--probably about the same amount of time as the Asus (20 seconds) or less.
The setup and programs are much clearer than the Asus ones even though they both use Linux. The webcam is also easier and seems to be better than that of the Asus. Other things included on the Acer are: a messenger program, lots of fun games, email, Openoffice 2.3 (a writng program--like microsoft word), powerpoint presentations, and address book, calender, spreadsheets, an RSS reader (for reading the news I presume--i havent tried it out yet). this is my second portable notebook.
i originally had eee pc 701. i liked it, but it also felt too cheap and small. i didn't really expect too much out of acer, but the quality is really great!
right away you can tell that it's better built than eee pc 701. also, i like the glossy finish & screen, because it gives more elegant feel to it.
also with 1.6ghz atom processor, it is faster and solved over-heat issues that i had with eee pc 701.
get this, upgrade a ram to 1.5g, install windows xp, and there you have a nice little portable work station where you can take it with you all the time.
i gave 4 stars because there's only one sodimm slot for ram upgrade, and sometimes i experience inconsistant wifi signals.
but hopefully that issue can be solved by future bios updates. overall, this is definitely worth it.

I've only had this Eee901 for a four days and I absolutely adore it. Amazing size, speed, battery life. But she's breaking my heart. The partitioned drive setup and the way the pc comes pre-installed means that I get low disk space warnings all the time...doing mundane things like reading mail or writing this review. I've uninstalled lots of the programs that came preinstalled but this C drive is just too darn small. This is my only pc and perfect for my needs. I don't run alot of programs or store files so I didn't expect the space to be an issue. Forget trying to stream a video. I don't know if the Eee 1000 solves this problem, but I have real buyer's remorse right now, especially because everything else about this Eee is great. I'm waiting for Tech Support to respond to my questions about how to repartition or some other solution.

I have a desktop Dell at home and an old HP laptop from 2003. I was looking for something exteremely portable and that's when I found the Eee PC 901. I had never heard of the company and was weary. However, I did a sufficient amount of research, and it looked great. Wobblying between the 900 and 901 (mostly for price), the 901 Windows won for longer battery. I'm REALLY glad I chose it. I've gotten about 5 hours of battery. I have gotten used to the very small keyboard, but I have smaller, thinner hands. Anyone else, might have a problem. Inside the box came a cheap case, but I bought a new one that says it's water-resistant and does not pick up lint/dirt. I did not add the screen protector, because it didn't cover the whole screen.
SHOULD ALSO BUY IMMEDIATELY: a good DVD/CD reader/writer and an SD card (already I've lost a lot of C: drive space).
The only reason I'm giving it a 4 and not a 5 is that sometimes the cursor goes all over the place as the touchpad is very sensitive. Even when

The RCA Small Wonder is not as great as I thought it was going to be.
I was excited when I read the reviews, but I should have looked around the www a bit more to see how it works with Mac before placing my order.
The reason why I opted for this cam instead of the Flip was because of the removable card...turns out its a major pain to take the card out, not just a pop-out-the-side one like I thought it would be...my fault for not doing more research though.
Actually, it works ok with Mac, you simply plug it in and you can easily get the files and drag them onto the desktop. You can even open up the video in any number of programs that play AVI files, but I don't seem to get any audio in any app besides VLC...I open the RCA video files in Quicktime Pro, Final Cut Pro, whatever, there's no audio, this means I can't edit! Pretty much why I bought this!
If I could edit the video files, it would get 5 stars... can anyone help?
Also, the still pictures that it takes aren't great...think of

I'm a tech by trade and hobby, so apologies ahead of time if I start hitting on tech jargon, but I'll try to keep it to a minimun. :-)
Let's try and keep it to the important and good-to-knows...
The Pros of the 901:
- Uses the Intel Atom processor. Though the Atom doesn't produce significantly more CPU performance vs. the previous 900 model's Celeron M 353, it does use much less power. So you'd be looking at similar CPU performance, but with much better battery life AND runs cooler.
- With the Atom comes also a 2nd generation graphics chip in the GMA950 (vs the 900's GMA900). The 2 big advantages of this are; the GMA950 has a peak pixel fill rate of 1600 megapixels per/second (the GMA900 has a peak of only 1332 megapixels per/second) and more video-decoding is now done in hardware on the GMA950. Combine those together and that means windows will open faster and watching videos will be smoother.
- Uses a Solid State Drive (SSD) for storage. SSD technology means; no moving parts (much less

Every 5 to 10 years a new gadget comes along and I wonder how I managed without it. For me, the Eee 901 is one of those devices. I've owned it for 3 days and it has already become integral to my daily routine. I spent a week researching the options for a UMPC - In the end, I chose the 901 because it had all the features I needed, portability and the up to 7.5 hour battery life. I thought about waiting for the 1000H, but the deemed the 80GB not enough of a benefit for a larger computer that has essentially the same performance specs. Besides, the 12G 901 has an internal ZIF socket, so I can add an internal 1.8" 80GB drive at a later time if I wanted (i've heard that the linux version lacks this).
I use it almost exclusively for checking my e-mail, checking various web sites, IM, and writing documents for work. Typing takes some getting used to on the small keyboard, but after a couple days I'm typing almost as fast and as comfortably as on a full size keyboard. This computer is very portable

I've had my Asus Eee 901 (black with XP) for about two weeks now, and am very impressed.
I had followed the news of the Eee for several months, but had assumed that it was a "cheap" (i.e. poor quality) computer. Then, about a month ago, I met someone who had the Eee 900, and saw it first-hand. It did not give the impression of being a cheap computer. It looks and feels like top quality.
Now that I have been using it, I'm even more impressed!
I travel a LOT, and have long been a fan of ultralight computers. I had a Sony Vaio T350P for several years and recently replaced it with a Fujitsu Lifebook P series (which I also love!) The Lifebook is great for around town... it has a 12 inch screen, 7 hour battery life, and weighs 2 1/2 pounds... but for travel I am always looking for something smaller.
From my experience so far with the Eee 901 it seems almost perfect. It comes with 12 gig of solid state memory (no worries about hard drive problems... (a TSA inspector recently dropped my Fujitsu

Pros: Small, great Battery life, easy to use, plays SD video great(AVI, DIVX) screen looks great ... Got it last Friday and had it all going within an hour and painlessly patched OS and BIOS updates in 3 hours
Cons : keyboard is cramped, no PCMCIA = No real problem
Thoughts: got this for the train and for travel, it meets the requirements very well - a little smaller than I expected (a good thing) - sits very neatly on my lap, overall very very happy (ps am getting about 6 - 6 1/2 of battery time on this puppy (Nice)

First..thanks to everyone that wrote a review, it helped in my purchasing decision. I chose this laptop for a number of reasons:
My Toshiba Satellite of about 4 yrs died in the middle of a final paper for class.
My sister purchased a HP laptop that came pre-installed with Vista (hated it!!)
My daughter has a macbook and we love it!!
Finally - I wanted to try out Linux and I wanted a smaller subnotebook, after lugging around a 15 inch toshiba...it was time for a change!
I researched this baby for about 3 months. Everyday..reading reviews, calling my fellow techie friends asking their input..finally I realized no one could talk me out of buying my baby mac..(that is what I called it)..of course like some people I had a great justification for purchasing my new toy...well..its a graduation gift to me from me, and well..um..I wanted to get macbook, but this is MUCH cheaper...and most important..I wanted to try out Linux ..thanks to GWBush - I bought it!!!

This is the most wonderful product for being such a lil camcorder. i recommend it to all new mothers so they can record their special moments in their growing babies lives.

I bought this primarily to use with presentations and powerpoint. I like to walk around during a presentation and didn't want to be "tied down" to my laptop everytime i wanted to advance a slide. The device is actually quite small (doesn't necessarily look that way in Amazon pic), but fits nicely into your hand. Also, the USB plug in fits on the underbelly of the device which is very convenient. I use Windows XP and this device really is a no hassle, plug and play device. No other drivers or software is needed so you can bring this device to do presentations on other people's computers without any drama.

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1J7CRT5NJU46O RCA EZ205 Small Wonder Digital Camcorder with 2 Hour Recording and 1GB Included Memory
This is my basic review of the EZ205. I hope it's helpful in determining whether or not to purchase it. One thing I did not mention in the video clip was the digital zoom, which is pretty much a non feature and tends towards big time blurry. Not a big deal if you're not planning on using it.

This is a nifty little computer, but if you plan to use Windows XP on it, forget about it. The tech data indicates that it is easy to convert from Linux to XP...which it is. But, the miniscule 4GB F drive is totally taken up with Windows applications so the computer cannot function due to lack of space on this drive. I spoke to am Asus tech specialist, and there was no way he could make the computer work due to these limitations on the F drive. Of course there are another 16 GB on the C drive, but they are meaningless for functionality.
Don't buy this rip-off if you want to use XP.

Here are the reasons I bought this digital camcorder over others.
1. It has a flip to front display that will allow you to see yourself while you are recording.
2. Excellent resolution. The 640 by 480 video recordings are near DVD resolution (which is 720 by 480).
3. Still pictures. This camera also takes 1280 by 960 still pictures. I don't know why they don't stress this in the sales information. This was a real deal maker for me.
4. AA batteries. Some digital camcorders have to be plugged into a USB port to recharge. I'd rather just put in another set of common batteries and go on recording. Though I do use rechargeable batteries in mine. They work fine.
5. The video is stored on a mini SD card. Want more recording time? Just swap in another card. Plus you can put the card in a reader and copy it to your computer directly, skipping the USB connection entirely.
6. This camera comes with a nice carrying case and all the cables you will need for the same price other's charge

I bought this computer to replace my wife's Sharp MM20,that was uneconomical to repair due to a damaged screen, and is no longer available new. I searched for a replacement for weeks and bought the EeePC 900 which seemed the best replacement available at a reasonable price. I have waited for a month to learn about the machine prior to writing a review. Had I written my review sooner, it would have had more stars, here is why I reduced the star rating.
Out of the box everything worked, except I had difficulties getting a good connection with my wireless router. I got the connection established, but, it constantly tried to validate my identity. Two calls to tech support, failed to resolve the issue. The best thing I can say about tech support is that you can reach them relatively easily. They are not particularly nice nor competent. They are quick to shift the problem to others, saying we don't deal with that, call your internet provider or other software provider.

I am a video freak and really have enjoyed my eee PC. The eee is really small and awesome when you also have something like the maxtor external usb2 external hard drive (requires no power other then 2 of PC's USB connections) I watch videos at work at my security job and have sold everybody who watches my videos when they go past my watch post. When I don't want to plug in my hard drive I plug-in my external usb2 wintv HD device attached to a little 5 inch antenna and I can watch live any of the 28 High Defination channels available in the Chicago Area. The wireless connection is great for checking my email and with skype (which came with PC) I have saved a ton of minutes I no longer pay my cell phone carrier.
