Having used my logitech G5 from Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142 days till now it had served me well but it's time to look at new stuff. G9 is too small and claw style which doesn't fit me and MS Sidewinder and Razer are both too fat for me, palm/wrist started straining after 5 mins game play. THen Logitech came out with G500 which is named the G5 replacement.
I did lots of research and couldn't find any documentation regarding this. All say this mouse go from 200 DPI to 5700 DPI which is true if you install the setpoint software. I'm very axxx about keeping my computer clean and I really don't see the benefit of having 5700 DPI, it's more gimmick, advertisement than real in game usage.....flick of a wrist and your cursor lands in your neighbor's house? NO THANKS!
By default, G500 is plug and play, this is straight from the manuel.. WITHOUT installing the SETPOINT software, the mouse default at 3 levels. 200, 800 and 2000 DPI just like G5 which suits me just fine! 800

Greatest laptop mouse ever!
I gifted this to my boyfriend and then took over it!
It really works everywhere and the range is great.
This works on my dining table, sofa cushions, bed sheets, carpet etc. all sorts of rough terrain and without mouse a pad!
Batteries lasted me like two months; not bad!
I'm seriously considering buying myself one in "scarlet red" so i can return this blue one to the rightful owner!

Followed the instructions. Works as intended to. I can now sit on my couch and operate the mouse without any problems.
Works on practically any surface I've tried so far. Feels nice and smooth no lag what so ever. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a mouse with good wireless range and ease of use.

Although the wheel is solidly constructed, the wheel doesn't always self center after making a right turn(and this happens A LOT), making it necesary to stop and restart the game before it will function properly.
I've talked with Logitech support about this and the only thing they have come up with in two weeks is to down-load and install the latest version of their gaming software. That didn't work. Go to the logitech forums. Its full of questions about this particular problem. Unfortunately, there are very few answers posted there.
So unless you like things that frustrate you and try your patience and don't mind paying $100 for a large paper weight go buy a Logitech. Otherwise, go buy a Saitek racing wheel.

I purchased this as a replacement for a previous identical model I had a little over a year. The previous model quit working consistently. Many of the single left clicks were being recognized as if they were double clicks. I had previous Microsft Mice for years before that I was very happy with. I thought maybe this last one was just a fluke. But I have now had the newest one a few weeks and it is just not up to what I have come to expect from Microsoft. It is "clunky". It is too heavy for it's small size. You would expect Laser technology to be even smoother than a mechanical ball but this mouse feels even more mechanical than the old rubber ball. The packaging hype about hi-res is just that--a bunch of hype. I find it quite difficult to get accurate cursor precision--far less accuracy than the older rubber ball technology. I have to replace the AA battery about once per month.

I've used dozens of different mice over the years, and this is the best so far. Even on a black pad, the laser picks up everything flawlessly (Unlike opticals). The weight cartridge lets you customize it to match the strength of your wrist, giving it just the right amount of bulk. The three-level sensitivity seems like a nice gimmick, but I haven't found much of a use for it. It's nice for detailed graphics work or sniping in a first-person shooter, but mostly pointless elsewhere. The only complaints I have are the horizontal wheel buttons (A little too easy to hit them while clicking the wheel button), and the lack of a symmetric or left-handed version (Even so, this is usable for a lefty, but not as comfortable).

I received this mouse at work as a "hand-me-down" - two people before me didn't care for it, but I love it. I've used it for quite some time (can't exactly remember the date) but I'd say it's at least a year and a half. I'm a computer programmer, so I use it every day for at least 8 hours a day. I came to Amazon.com to look and see if it was still available as I want to get one for home use with my laptop. (Bought a Belkin wireless and am NOT happy with it - after about 10 minutes of use, it goes to sleep and sometimes it won't wake up.) This one is completely reliable. I was very happy to find that this model is still available. Don't hesitate to purchase one for yourself.

This mouse is exactly what I wanted. I wanted a comfortable mouse that had a nice magnifier and could work on different surfaces. It has all those features and works with my Windows Vista laptop. I actually didn't have the need for a wireless mouse because the mouse that I use for this laptop was going to sit in my backpack when I wasn't using it and I didn't want to worry about charging it or changing batteries all the time. It is a little bulky for using with a laptop, but is does fit comfortably in my hand. If you don't absolutely have to have a wireless mouse, I don't think you can go wrong with this one.

I purchased this mouse for use on a CAD workstation and had high hopes for it due to the nice ergo design, laser tracking, and being wireless. It was a huge disappointment from the beginning. This mouse is VERY lightweight and cheap feeling. The almost non existant instructions said to charge for at least 1 hour before installing. I left it plugged in over the weekend yet the battery died in 30 minutes after getting it set up. Either the battery is bad or the charger doesn't work. When setting up according to the instructions the mouse is not detected properly and has difficulty connecting. after messing with it for over an hour and likely 30+ tries it finally connected. Microsoft has virtually no support for hardware so I got no help there with any of these issues. The short time that it worked I found the tracking to be excellent, but the lightweight feel is awkward. Also the slide pads on this mouse are not very good and it seems to drag on a mouse pad. Many of the special features do

I used this mouse when doing diagnostics to make it easier to be farther from the PC then with a wire, unfortunately I found the only real benefit was that it didn't have a cord. I can get 3 times more distance with a wire, but you get what you get. I'd probably stick with Logitech from now on.

I've had this POC for about 8 months and have had trouble since it was new. First it was just cutting off songs and skipping to the next, but if you back it up it will play the cut off song fine the second try. Now it wants to constantly reset it self in mid play. This week it has gotten so bad it won't play for more than 10 or so songs before the screen goes to some weird color apple logo and resets. Has gotten to the point that it almost unusable. Reseting and re-syncing seems to help for a day or 2 but then it starts the problem all over again making it unusable until I can re-sync at home. I now carry my 3 yr old 30 gb as a back up as I play music all day at work. My 30gb is trouble free. Apple discussions is full of complaints about this problem and apple response to the issue is NO PROBLEM'S HERE FOLKS. Many have sent their 120's back to apple and gotten it back with the response from apple that it is working fine and the problem persists. And forget the 5 R solution

I have looked at over 30 different mice and purchased and tried out a few. At first, I didn't know what I wanted, I only wanted something ergonomic as that was the most important factor in avoiding repetitive stress injury. (I'm starting med school and from not having been in school for many years, so...) I bought a mouse, and I got ulnar nerve pain from using it for 1 month. So my search began again and from that experience, learned a lot more about 'what to look for' for myself. 1. Figure out what kind of mouse user you are. Do you like to rest the palm of your hand on the mouse or do you like to use your fingertips on the mouse only? That point alone, is probably the most important as that will tell you what kind of mouse to buy. You want to make sure that your wrist joint is aligned and your hand in a comfortable position where you're not compressing nerves or inadvertently putting your wrist in a position that might 'tweak your carpals' -- put your wrist bones in a weird position

I bought this mouse from bestbuy.com a couple months ago, then had a problem where it stopped responding. Just took it in to my local Best Buy store, and received a refund, no problem. I ordered another online (since it is only an outlet item, the store could not exchange it for me). Since I've gotten the replacement, I've had no problems. After owning this one for a bit, I believe my earlier malfunction issue was just a fluke, but even then, I loved it enough to buy another. It's physically customizable, with 2 different grips and 8 separate weights so you can really make it feel the way you want. My previous mouse was wireless, with the battery adding a bit of weight, and since this is wired, it's lighter than what I'm used to. Using a few of the weights, it's perfect for me. It's great if you have several people using it or use it on several computers, because the configurations are saved on the mouse, rather than needing to install software on each computer. I play World of Warcraft

Several years ago, I started experiencing wrist pain, HP gave me a trck ball and pain cleared up right away. Recently the pain began again, so I ordered the track ball and pain has already cleared up.

After 2 months of use the wheel broke. The axle that the wheel rotates on just snapped. Made of plastic so it should be no surprise really. I enjoy pc gaming and this mouse was a change from my loyal Logtech mice. I will not stray again. The software for this mouse is also in need of improvements.

I origianally bought myself one and when my husband saw it he wanted one too. So, I sent off and bought him one too. You just plug it in your laptop of desktop computer and away you go. So much better that the mouse pad on your laptop, at least for myself and my husband. Young kids seem to have no problems using the mouse pad, I just find it hard to use, I'd rather have the mouse.

The USB is tiny, so I always leave it in, but if I want to use the trackpad the mouse has a dock inside for the USB. It's well weighted with 2 AA's inside, and the scroll wheel feels great. It requires a small piece of plastic (about 1cm square, 2 or 3 mm tall) for the dock to be attached to the lid of the laptop with a 3M adhesive that sticks very well. It comes with both a black and a silver dock, so it matches most laptops pretty well, and isn't very noticeable. I usually keep my laptop in a sleeve when I travel with it, and there are no issues with the dock there. When I carry my laptop with the mouse docked to the lid I get tons of complements too.
My only complaint is the mouse is so good I never use my laptop's multitouch trackpad anymore.

I needed a cordless mouse for my laptop because trying to use the little finger pad thing when I'm trying to do work drives me nuts. This mouse is great. You literally just plug in the USB plug-in and start using it. It's extremely comfortable to use, the buttons are nice, and the scroll bar in the middle is nice too. Everything is great. I can't see how anyone would not buy this product if they wanted a cordless mouse. It's the cheapest out there and works great. Highly recommended.

Best mouse I ever owned. Works great on Windows 7 Ultimate x64. My OS even installed the correct drivers automatically, thats probably why I don't have any issues with signal quality. Bigger than the Microsoft Optical Mouse It Replaced but thats OK since I have fairly large hands. Nicer fit & feel. Love the tilt wheel. Operates smoothly and accurate with no clicks. Still getting used to the 2 side buttons. I accidently hit them from time to time. I really don't know if I would recommend this mouse to someone with small hands. Otherwise an excellent overall mouse and a pleasure to use.

Not that many non-gaming mouse choices at BB. I needed a Win 7-compatible mouse and tried the Microsoft. I hated, hated, hated (did I say hated?) the "smooth scrolling." I have been mousing for more years than I would care to admit, and I am way accustomed to resistance in the scroll wheel. The next logical (no pun intended) step was this Logitech, and I really like it so far (only been using for a few hours). I mouse a whole lot, and I did one of my really tight-editing freelance projects with it today, and it was very easy.
One word of caution: if you have win 7, go to the logitech support site and download the appropriate software first. don't just let the machine install a native driver. At least this worked for me.
In all, a nice look and comfortable feel. Lots of possibilities for settings. And I didn't find it to be too small whatsoever for my average-size hands.
