Argus Bean 5 Megapixel Carabiner Clip-On Digital Camera - Blue
We bought this camera for our 6 year old son after being disappointed with the quality of the Fisher-Price Digital Camera. We are very happy with our purchase. The resolution of the photos is very good and my son loves that he can shoot video, too. I would definitely recommend this camera to others.

LaCie USB 2.0/FireWire/eSATA External Hard Drive-1TB ESATA/U&I 7200 RPM 32MB EXT DESIGN BY NEIL POULTON
I bought one because of the low price/GB, and LaCie's reputation for reliability. I'm ordering 1 or 2 more for long term storage needs. Yes, its design is clean, but functionality is the key. The USB and sSATA ports are versatility extras. Free ground shipping was a plus.

Seagate 750GB USB2.0/1394/ESATA FREEAGENT PRO EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE (ST307504FPA1E3-RK)
I bought this drive for my DirecTV HR20 to extend its recording capability from 50hrs to almost 150hrs and the drive has been on continuously for 1 year without issue.

Since the HR20 always has a live buffer recording regardless of if the receiver is on or off, the hard drive never turns off and is always recording video data. So think about it, that's 24/7/365 that my drive has been running and recording straight and it's never failed me once. I'd say that's pretty rock solid.

Setup is a snap -- just plug in the drive, connect the eSATA cable to the drive and then your HR20, then turn on the HR20 and presto -- almost triple the recording capacity!

It's been nice to not have to worry about how many DVR recordings I have saved. And I've even had a couple power failures, and everything's come back and rebooted on its own with no lost recordings or glitches. So I have to say, I'm more than happy with the purchase!!

And if you're wanting this for your computer, I think it's a pretty

Western Digital My Book Essential 500GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive
I bought one of these, and used it for several months, and liked it so well that I bought a second identical one.

These drives are supposed to spin down and go into sleep mode after a period of inactivity. The first drive did that just fine, UNTIL I got the second drive. Now both of them spin down and spin back up again immediately, with much noise and blinky light action. Off and on and off and on, forever. EXTREMELY annoying and distracting.

I spent approximately six hours total (over several days) on the phone with Western Digital tech support. Their final conclusion was that I needed to use a utility (which I downloaded from their site) to shut the drives down manually. This utility works, but only after several tries. Once the drives are shut down, I can only access them again by unplugging the drives physically, plugging them back in again, then waiting a minute or so while they start up.

It should be noted that the first drive I bought had been going into sleep mode perfectly.

LaCie d2 Quadra Hard Drive-750GB D2 QUADRA ESATA 7200 RPM EXT 8MB USB/FW400/FW800
The core of my home media center is an Intel Core 2 Duo Apple iMac with a 500GB drive. I've been a Windows junkie for 15 years and finally gave in to the urge to go exclusively Apple for home media management last Christmas, and have never looked back. Apple TV to iPhone to Airport Extreme ... we're engulfed within the silver Apple, but that's another review. So when it came time to select storage for media and back-up, I didn't have the luxury of buying one with an Apple logo (sans Time Capsule). After a month of research and talking to other home media geeks, I selected these 2008 vintage LaCie Quadra drives. I bought two 750GB drives, placed them side-by-side via fw800, and dedicated one to iTunes media and the other to Time Machine back-up.

They have been running 24x7 for 6 months under heavy use. The iTunes drive has been on almost constantly for the entire house - reading and writing media via several wireless MacBooks, iMacs and, of course, the Apple TV. And the Time Capsule

Western Digital My Book Essential 500GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive
This is a great product! I got it at an excellent price and it was very simple to install. All you do is connect it to the computer and you have instant GB. I've been storing lots of music, pictures, and movies onto it and now I don't have to worry about running out of memory on my MacBook.

Seagate FreeAgent Desk 500GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive - Silver
I bought this drive a few days ago. Plug it in and install the software that came with it. It worked perfectly the first time. Now when i start my computer, it won't get past the boot stage. I need to unplug the hdd and reboot. Also windows won't recognize the drive at all times. I have to unplug the drive and plug it back in. Hopefully these minor annoyances don't take a wrong turn. I have put over 100 gigs of data on the drive, but i'm afraid to delete the originals off my other drive to make space :(

Western Digital My Book Essential 500GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive
I've been using Western Digital HD's for nearly 15 years now and never yet have had one of them fail on me (though there's always a first time!) I currently own two of these My Book 500GB external drives which I have hooked up to my newest system. These drives are attractively designed, quite sleek with good ventilation and very easy to set up; the only things you need to do are (1) plug in the power adapter and connect it to a suitable socket and (2) connect the USB cable to the computer; Windows XP and Vista will do the rest of the setup process automatically. (There's a version for Mac.) As others have noted, the drive is formatted FAT at the factory, so you'll need to reformat it if you want to use NTFS - do remember to copy over the tools to another drive first if you want to use them. They're also decently sturdy; I accidentially knocked the first one off my desk not long after I bought it, but it took no damage and is still running smoothly 8 months later. The drive goes to standby

Seagate 750GB USB2.0/1394/ESATA FREEAGENT PRO EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE (ST307504FPA1E3-RK)
1. The orange stripe you're seeing in the picture is a light that cannot be turned off. Do not buy this hard drive if you're going to be putting it in your bedroom or other location where you don't want a permanent orange glow.

2. The drive's center of gravity is high and its base is narrow. It is about as easy to topple as an unopened beer bottle. Do not buy this hard drive if you're going to be placing it around where living things move.

3. The power connector fits only loosely. Do not buy this hard drive if the power cord will be in the vicinity of moving things.

4. My drive died. Do not buy this drive if you'll be storing valuable data on it (fortunately I wasn't).

5. The power sensor (it's not a button) is an inferior original design that essentializes this drive's fundamental problem: practical considerations were sacrificed to marketing consideration--the drive was designed primarily to have good numbers on paper and look cool when viewed online.

I wouldn't have bought this

Western Digital My Book Essential Edition 750GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive
I have purchased four or five of this model in both the 500GB and 750GB sizes for my workplace about a year ago. I am very pleased with them so far. The are quiet and they are easy to hide away on your desk. They are easy to set up and format on OS X.

As far as reliability, I haven't had any failures. They are used with desktops so they are rarely moved and that probably helps but I also have several Western Digital Passports that I use with laptops and they have proven just as reliable. Overall, I'm quite satisfied with Western Digital and would recommend them.

Western Digital My Book Studio 1TB External USB 2.0/FireWire/eSATA Hard Drive
This product is well worth the money. Everything was outstanding. The only grip I had was the product was shipped unorganized in the box. It seemed as if it was just thrown together. But this is a minor thing. The product works great and is a great buy for anyone who needs fast external hard drives.

Seagate FreeAgent Desk 500GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive - Silver
I bought this disk recently and I use it connected to different computers at different times. It is not as mobile as the Freeagent-Go series, but it is faster and more versatile than Freeagent-Go.

My usage of this disk is probably not the most typical, but I emphasize that I stressed it far more than the average user might. To start with, I did not install the auto-backup software that comes with it. I don't intend to use this disk for back-ups. Despite that, I had no problems using it with the Windows-XP Service Pack-2. It was immediately recognized and mounted by the OS. Then I partitioned it into four, using Partition-Magic 8.0. Out of one single 500GB NTFS partition, I created a smaller NTFS partition, two VFAT partitions, and one Linux Ext3 partition. Again, moving and resizing and partitioning went on as smoothly as it would for an internal hard disk. Upon the completion of partitioning, the OS recognized the new partitions and immediately mounted them (except the Linux

Argus Bean Carabiner Digital Camera - Green - 3.2 Megapixel - 1.5 Color LCD
I ordered six of these for a 7th grade photography class I'm teaching. Students can check the camera out. One camera was broken upon arrival and would not hold a charge. Two others have since broken and will not hold a charge or change modes. That's 50 percent of the cameras I ordered that do not function properly. I'm currently trying to get my money back. Granted kids can be rough on cameras, but none of these cameras appear to have any physical wear and tear.

HP Officejet Multifunction Printer/ Copier/ Scanner/ Fax
I took a while to set up since I had to buy ink and a USB cable as I thought it came with the printer, I would have liked to have had this made clear to me before and I could have bought one with everything included but I set it up last night except the fax because I now have to buy a spliter but it seems to work when I used my phone line for it instead of my laptop, the printer is a bit loud but works great the ink cartridges a tricky to put in but got them in eventually just be careful not to touch the gold part and the ink nossles and dont tilt the printer with the ink in in this will damage it, other than that the machine pretty much tells you what to do, I had trouble finding instructions to connect to a laptop maybe I am a dumb blonde LOL hope this helps all

G-Tech 500GB Quad Interface External Hard Drive
I purchased one of these drives in April 2008 for storage of a vast photo library. In mid-August it crashed. I contacted G-Tech (a whole adventure in itself with no 800 number and 15-20 minutes wait time for a representative). I returned the original device with instructions to retrieve the files. Three weeks later a new drive arrives but no files. Then the real odyssey begins. Three unanswered emails led to two phone calls only to find out that they did not retrieve the files but would try to locate the bad device so that they could get the files. Five days later I am informed that the device has been found and they have the files. This from their rep, one Miguel Huerta. Two more weeks of waiting, no files. After four unanswered emails to Mr. Huerta I call again to speak to a manager. Three days later I am informed that they were unable to retrieve the original files. They could, however, send the original drive to an outside recovery company (of course, for a hefty fee). By

LaCie USB 2.0/FireWire/eSATA External Hard Drive-1TB ESATA/U&I 7200 RPM 32MB EXT DESIGN BY NEIL POULTON
I'm connecting two of these drives to a RAID controller to mirror my data through the eSATA connection. The drive has one of the most beautiful enclosures. When they're stack together with the blue LED shining on to each other, it creates quite an artistic feel. For those people who value esthetics, you shouldn't miss this one.

The drive itself is working just as advertised. A drive is a drive. Hasn't failed on me yet.

The only star I took off from the rating is due to the cables that ship with the product. They're so short.

Western Digital My Book Home 500GB External USB 2.0/FireWire/eSATA Hard Drive
I've just done some testing of some of my computer gear with a small power meter and was surprised to find that this drive draws at least 5 watts all the time when it is plugged in. Powered up and idle, it uses about 7 watts, but when it is spun down and turned off, it is still sucking 5 watts. 24 hours a day! That is way too much! I will start unplugging it when it's not in use.

LaCie USB 2.0 External Hard Drive-1TB HARD DISK USB 2.0 7200 RPM EXT 32MB
Ordered this, it arrived quickly. Worked right out of the box and looks cool sitting on my desk. Transfer speeds are limited by USB 2.0, so if you want faster data transfer buy the version that has something like 4 more connection options. I'm cheap, so I went for the budget version of this drive. It's suited me perfectly so far. I'd definitely recommend.

Brother Multifunction Inkjet Printer/ Copier/ Scanner/ Fax/ PhotoCapture Center
Do not buy this printer. It is the worst printer I have ever seen. From the constant paper jams that are nearly impossible to unclog, false low ink readings that disable the printer, and just moodiness this printer is horrible. Some days it works, other days it decides to take a day off and will not function at all. The best are when you install a brand new ink cartridge and then it tells you that it is empty and refuses to attempt to print until you install yet another ink cartridge. I have never wanted to throw a piece of electronic equipment out the window until I met this printer.

LaCie USB 2.0 External Hard Drive-1TB HARD DISK USB 2.0 7200 RPM EXT 32MB
This was purchased as external backup - it's quiet and lovely. The blue LED reflects off the surface (desktop) so you know when it's in use. Easy to use backup software included, but not robust enough for a power user or tech-geek (use cobian!).

The USB cable is kinda short, about 8", so if you're not planning on placing this directly next to or on the box you're backing up plan to purchase or use a different USB cable.
