Luis Mejia (son) - free violenece has always been carried out by capcom in several famous titles, but overall there were to many monotonous titles that carried out a short plot but convincing action, but maybe non of these were displayed as original, interesting, complete, long, fun and difficult as Dead Rising prooves to be; overall, a unique sandbox. Dead rising, first of all, its such an interesting title even before buying it, and this is proven in the gameplay; its plot turns around a reporter, Frank, who is doing a coverage for the news of why a town in Colorado has been closed by the police, effectively, the town was plagued by zombies. Frank has a number of adventures in the mall he arrives, and you have three hours of totoal gameplay before your helicopter arrives. In the mall he goes to a safe zone, and also meet a pair of agents from homeland security and a surviving janitor, in which you can accomplish their missions and complete cases files. The gameplay is a sandbox, which

DAY -35: Just saw an ad for Dead Rising. So jazzed! The main character kills shambling zombies in a mall with baseball bats, an umbrella, and a chainsaw. Chainsawing zombie goodness, baby! WOOHOO!
DAY 0: Just got the game. YES! Popped it in and started playing. The main character reminds me of Andrew Dice Clay from The Adventures of Ford Fairlane, only sized like a linebacker.
DAY 1: What the...the text is so small! I can't read anything!
DAY 2: Oh for the love of...Dead Rising is for HD televisions only. I can't read what Otis keeps calling me about, so I can't play the game. Sigh.
DAY 32: My brother was over for dinner and when he looked at my flat screen television in the basement, he pointed out that it's actually a high def television. Yes, I'm an idiot. Back to Dead Rising!
DAY 33: Woohoo, this rocks! So many zombies to kill! And not just zombies; the game is full of psychopaths too. I killed a clown with chainsaws, some big fat cop who looks like Kathy Kinney (from

i was never that big into FPS. they seem played out at this point. most of them feel the same. the only ones ill get into are either doing all the old things perfectly (Resistance, Call of Duty 2/3) or they're just doing something different (Fear, Bioshock) and Prey deffinitely falls into the latter category.
Aliens will appear out of nowhere from their portals linked together on different parts of the ship. you can use these as well. they're often your only way to progress to the next part of a level.
You can adjust the gravity in different rooms. of you shoot a certain switch on the walls or ceiling you can turn the gravitational pull to that plane, thus making it essentially the floor. there are different magnetic ramps that you often use to get places. they usually end up at leased going straight up a wall, if not turning completely upside down.
this does still carry the somewhat standard FPS formula though. you go through a level from point A to point B while killing baddies. complete

I came late to the whole Xbox 360 scene and this is one of the titles that finally lured me in. I can't say that it was everything that I hoped for, but it wasn't a complete letdown either. The makings of a great game are there but the problem is that there are so many different facets of game play rolled into one game that it never satisfies fully in one area. On the one hand the game is open-ended and free form, but only if you don't care about the storyline. On the other hand, if you want the sense of accomplishment that you get when you truly complete a game then you will find Dead Rising a frustratingly mixed bag. The reason for this is that while the storyline is actually good and the time system is innovative (to a degree) it is also so hectic and unforgiving that you will find yourself constantly repeated large chunks of the game, at times even starting over from the beginning to get some extra levels under your belt. I think you would be hard pressed to finish this game start

This might be the best video game I've ever played. Within the first ten minutes my zombie kill count was 228 (they actually keep the zombie kiil count in the bottom of the screen, awesome), and was using bat's, guns, poles, benches, and anything else I could find to slaughter hordes of zombies.
I actually found a lawnmower and was cutting zombies up like grass, a la Dead Alive, you can even use decapitated limbs as weapons. If your a old zombie movie fan, this movie will appeal to you even more. The obvious comarison is to Dawn of the Dead, considering your in a mall with thousands of zombies. Even has the creepy mall music playing the whole time.
If you like open world environment games and zombies, this is a must have.

Dead Rising is a great game. It's very addictive. You can choose to save people or not. There are all sorts of items you could use as weapons. The game is challenging without being impossible. I gave it a low rating for suitability for all ages beacuse it's definately for a more mature audience.

Gears has gone way far beyond my expectations. The graphics are amazing, at lesat on a good 1080 screen, but still look fine on a normal 480p tv. The gameplay is outstanding, and the cover could not be better. The only thing is i wish you could play with 10-12 instead of only just 8 on muiltplayer. Besides that best game!

If you own a Xbox 360 and have not tried this game, I only have one advice: buy Dead Rising now!
Dead Rising has lots of zombies on the TV screen. I repeat, there are lots of the walking dead in this game. You have to see it to believe it.
The gameplay mechanics are perfect. The save system is perfect for challenge seekers (not for "girly men"). The replay value is good.
After you finish to see the main storyline filled with zombies. (72-hour mode), there is Overtime Mode and Infinity Mode.
3 Games in 1 Package.
Also, I love using all the weapons in this game. Lots of zombies (Did I mention that before?).
Lots of weapons. Lots of zombies. One Shopping Mall. Enough said.

I don't quite understand people who think this game is lacking. I wonder if they've played it enough. Lets see, you got alot of zombies, of course, you can use just about everything as a weapon (including chainsaws, lawnmowers and of course gigantic teddy bears) along with various types of food and make mixtures of certain items to form some realistic like powerup. You gain points to eventually level up and get more moves, add more life, hold more weapons. become faster. Gigantic Mall inside, large area outside. Several Psychopaths who are smart and aren't slow. Rescue survivors, seems simple, unless they gotta battle there way through 500 zombies along with you. Then you got to protect them and yourself. Find survivors who don't want to be rescued and enter into little mini-games of varying degrees with them to get points. You've got missions to complete helping DHS Homeland Security Agents, if you don't, you can't win the game. You can drive vehicles when ever you can find them.

I'll start off by saying that this game is way over hyped, with the whole "redefines all shooters" thing. It's a good game, and worth $60, but isn't THAT revolutionary.
What the game does have is beautiful graphics, cutscenes are very well done and grenades are much more realistic, unlike halo, your enemies don't just get thrown up in the sky when they're hit with a grenade, they do get torn to shreds. The blood is a slight issue, I personally I have no problem with blood but it does seem a little overdramatic at some points. For instance, when you chainsaw an opponent, it's okay for them to be ripped up and pumping blood, but do we really need blood splattered all over the screen?
The cover system is done very well, but i felt that while they started out strong with it, towards the end they got a little lazy. You're still taking cover at the end, but you really don't use as many "advance transition moves" then you do at the beginning. The music score is okay, nothing you'll

After seeing the previews on the television and internet I decided to purchase the game. My girlfriend and I love to play Co-Op games but are not into sports games and that leaves our options low. Gears of War is an intense game with none stop action, a great story line, and graphics that will make your head spin! We started on the Casual level of difficulty, which is like the Easy setting on other games, and there was still plenty of action for the two of us! The only problem we have with the game is that some of the creatures can climb on the ceiling and with the split screen being horizontal, it makes it some what difficult to see them. Other than that this is a great game for adults. The game is rated M for mature and is not for children. The end of the game also provides a gateway for a sequal which we are both looking forward to seeing!

Okay, first you can totally believe the hype that surrounds this game!
If you like horror based games (RE, AITD, etc...) this is a great game for you, but even if you don't like horror games, you will find plenty to challenge and thrill yourself with while playing through this game.
The mall and surrounding area that you can explore is huge, which is where it seems games are going (Huge maps, lots to explore, tons of enemies, hundreds of weapons - we've seen it before, but not quite like this).
The battle axe, shotgun, chainsaws, and katana are the best weapons in the game. I also like the idea of being a journalist and having to take pictures. It's fun to look back at the the photos and reflect on things that you did in the game that you snapped pictures of. I love this concept, but sometimes I get so into what I'm doing I forget to snap pictures.
It would be interesting to see other games using the journalist/camera/take pictures idea.
Maybe a crime scene investigator or something like

Good concept, the gameplay is fun...the save system...or lack thereof, really brings this game down. It is very hard to find save points, so if you die, plan on replaying a big chunk of the game over again...if you die again, replay again....yeah, really annoying. Then, it's really great when you haven't (can't) saved in a while, just completed a hard sequence, then while trying to find a save point, the doors are locked, won't move and then you find this hallway where it says you can save, only it's a trick...there are hundreds of zombies, so you die...and guess what...the last 20 minutes or so you played getting through the hard sequence....you get to do all over again...I guess it was suppsed to be funny, but...It was annoying enough for me to quit playing the game altogether, my son felt the same way, and he is better at games than me...thank god we didn't pay $60.00 for this game or I would be pretty mad. Rent before you buy!!!!

I am what I would consider to be a veteran Gamer being able to recall when the atari 2600 was first released and growing up playing PONG...Having owned nearly ever video game system ever released, I have to admit, Gears of War is arguably the most advanced and outstanding game i have played... the consistantly outstanding graphics and gameplay draw you in to this fantacy world that they have created...I have to agree with some of the other criticism's in that the story line game play is not as long as I would have liked, BUT...THE ONLINE GAMEPLAY MORE THAN MAKES UP FOR ANY OTHER PERCEIVED LACKS!!! GEARS ONLINE IS OUTSTANDING!!! For those of you waiting for Halo 3 to come out and need a GREAT game fix until March...I would highly recommend this game...There is not a huge learning curve even for you newbee's looking for a fun game to cut your teeth on...
The only downside, in my opinion, is some of the language...I found it sometimes a bit "obligatory/cheesy", in that it seemed like it

Dead Rising - Circa 2006
GOOD:
- Use anything as a weapon, never before has this been truly done or done right in a video game, and when I say use anything as a weapon I truly mean it, from Frying Pans to Chainsaws and Hangers to Battleaxes you really have anything in the entire mall as a weapon, there are thousands of items you can use and that is not including your regular video game type of weapons like guns and swords.
- Zombies, lots of Zombies and their all as dumb/deadly as you might hope for, although there more like the Night of the Living dead slow moving type of Zombies and not the 28 Days Later running at you screaming type of Zombies. Also note there are a bunch of crazies/terrorist running around causing havoc as well.
- Lot's enemy's on screen with no real slowdown, wait till you get to the underground parking garage and you can literally run over hundreds and hundreds of Zombies with a car with no slowdown.
- Lots of costume/clothing options, so you can make the main

Pros: Graphics, Cinematics, Play Control
Cons: Extremely difficult, Lacks color, No Jump button
There is no doubt that Gears of War has spectacular graphics! The characters are extremely detailed and life-like, but the best part is the cinematics. They do everything in real time so the cut scenes don't take you away from the action at all. Sometimes it even feels like they've got a cameraman on the scene with you. You feel like you're part of a movie. The gameplay is somewhat technical and does require learning a few tricks. For example you want to be careful where you walk. Hiding behind pillars and sandbags is an integral part of the gameplay. What I love is how you can hide behind a sandbag, poke your head out to let off a few rounds then go back into hiding in a matter of seconds. The vibration is done quite well and sometimes the controller alerts you to your impending doom.
The monsters are great! They're the best part of the game. You'll be finding yourself ducking and poking around just to avoid butting heads with something ugly and massive. The final boss

Pros: Fun, Great Detail, Solid Graphics
Cons: Single player only, not easy to save
This game is a blast to play. You can use just about anything to slice and dice some zombie butt. Shopping mall bench? Sure, shove it into a crowd of zombies. Maybe drive through a sea of zombies with a sports car. Just don't think you'll get anywhere slashing zombies with a toy sword or hitting them over the head with a teddy bear. Obviously knives, guns and bats are going to be effective, but you'll be happily surprised with the carnage brought about by everyday yard tools. The story is very detailed and intense. You'll reach points where you absolutely cannot make a mistake. Just losing 5 minutes somewhere may mean game over, so be careful when you save. You've got quite a few timed goals and they come one after another. It's actually a bit of a relief when you've got some additional time to tour zombies around the underside of a lawnmower.
After completing the game you'll unlock some additional modes that give you the opportunity to slay zombies to your heart's content.
