Samsung PN50A650 50 1080p Plasma HDTV - 1,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio - Anti Burn-in Technology

I just bought the Samsung PN50A650 and I am loving it, it is simply stunning. I will admit it was a challenge going from CRT - the million dollar questions is whether to go Plasma or LCD. I personally felt the Plasma was the way to go - better blacks and fast motion is clean (no blur) and the latest Plasmas have come a long way to over come some past issues experienced on earlier generation models. You really have to go to some stores and see for yourself and when you do, ensure you watch some fast motion video - this will tell the story even compared to the latest LCD 120 Hz sets. The stores are always showing slow motion, bright video which does not tell the whole story. Also keep in mind, LCD's are cheaper to manufacture so that is the higher margin product retailers want to push.

I did a ton of research and do want to thank all the other reviewers here at Amazon.com for their feedback, this reinforced my decision to get the Samsung. I will admit I think the Pioneer Kuro is the

Samsung PN63A650 - 63 Widescreen 1080p Plasma HDTV - 1,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio - Touch of Color Design

The TV is great but there were no white glove service. I purchased the Samsung 63" plasma HDTV and was told I would be getting the white glove service. I had to beg the belivery person to bring it in the house. He wanted to lean it against the front door, have me to sign receipt, and leave. Delivery guy said I was lied to and I had to call an outside company to set up for me. However, I have no complaints about the TV.

I purchased this unit approximately 5 weeks ago. To date, I could not be more pleased with this TV. Forget about buyers remorse - this TV is incredible.

The picture quality is outstanding and you will not notice any glare. I intentionally placed a bright lamp in front of this TV to determine if there would be noticeable glare. There was not. Unless the TV is off or at commerical (black screen), you will not see glare unless you are actively looking for it.

The only thing I would mention is that the TV gives off significant heat when the power save option is not on. Per my conversation with Samsung Customer Support, this is normal and has no adverse impact on the life of the TV.

I highly recommend this TV - you will not be dissappointed.

I am very pleased with buying the Samsung PN63A650 through Amazon. I ordered it on Black Friday and received it the following Friday. It was shipped using CEVA Logistics. They delivered it early, took it out of the box, and we checked the picture and everything worked perfectly. By going through Amazon, I saved almost $1000 compared to Best Buy and Fry Electronics. Shipping was free and didn't have to pay any sales tax. The TV set is great. The picture is awesome. However, remember to buy the HDMI cable as it makes a big difference in the picture quality compared to the cable provided by the local cable company. The only negative is that if I waited a week, I could have gotten it for $100 less!

I am very happy with the Samsung PN63A650 63-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV with Red Touch of Color. It has all the features I want, and then some. The picture is sharp, clear, and with deep colors. Even with that, each input source can be fined tuned independently. The Red Touch Of Color styling is beautiful and less bulking as compared to other models. The menus overlay the TV picture such that you can still see what's showing on the screen. The info on digital TV channels is detailed, and even will provide the programming schedule. The built-in photo with music playing feature is nice, especially for slide shows. Mine is connected to my home theater system, so I don't use the built in speakers. However, the optical audio output works great and I can get full Dolby Digital 7.1 surround sound. It also has PC and network interfaces.

The only disappointment is the PIP is cumbersome to get to. Samsung should have provide buttons on the remote, but instead, you have to navigate through menus to use

I'd like to give this 4.5 stars...I can't give 5, and 4 is too low, but amazon only limits this to whole stars, so 4 it is.

Got this item at a steal of a price from a local retailer who was desperate for business. That aside, I had done plenty of research prior to purchasing and after a week, I can say I have no "buyer's remorse" for jumping on a TV at a great price. We've been looking to upgrade our old 27" zenith tube and the choice has been between this set and the 50" Panasonic PZ85U. Finally getting the opportunity to see these side by side in the store was where I made my final decision. I thought the Samsung looked a little more natural than the Panasonic as I come from a photography background. The Panasonic just looks a little too warm for my taste next to this set. Now...I'm sure neither one of the sets were calibrated at the store, and honestly, I don't think anyone can go wrong with either of these TVs...both produce an exceptional picture, but I liked the A650 over the

When I buy something that costs this much I do research, maybe it's more like obsessing. I bought a subscription to Consumer Reports specifically because I was going to buy a large flat panel TV, I talked to salesman (don't trust any of them), and I checked many of the major websites that do or allow reviews of electronic equipment. Amazon.com,Cnet.com,PCmag.com and a ton of others. I also signed up for many of the HDTV forums that exist for the sole purpose of discussing High Definition and assorted accessories. Let me tell you what I learned from all my weeks of research. The Samsung PN50A650 is a great buy! You will not be disappointed. It has a fantastic picture and received nearly across the board excellent ratings from Consumer Reports. The only area that received a rating below excellent was the TV speakers and even that received a "very good" rating. I have done the research on this TV so now you don't have to! If you want a fantastic TV at a great price you can not get any better

Amazing is the only way to describe it. For the longest time I thought LCD was the way to go. But decided to take a serious look at plasma tvs, primarily because of inherent motion lag and color reproduction issues with lcd. Fancy technology such as 120 Hz still does not mask the problem to a trained eye. Once I decided to go with Plasma, I did a comparision between Pansonic, Pioneer & Samsung. Did a side by side comparison at Best Buy & found the Samsung to have the best picture quality.

I purchased a Samsung 650 Plasma and was amazed.. Understand, I didn't trust the internet purchase and was not sure if this was really the product I wanted. (LCD vs Plasma) No doubt the right decision. Process was safe with Amazon and the delivery Company was great.. The delivery company called to confirm the delivery, respectfully conversed with us, and pulled the TV out of the box, placed it on the table and showed me it was working as planned. Asked if I wanted the box or they would hold it for me. More about the the 650. Did I say WOW... I just wanted a tv I would be happy with and not regret my decision. LCD vs Plasma.. Tough decision. My co worker does this for a living and talked me out of a LCD ..Great move..Distance from the TV is 8- 18 feet. Love watching Football and Hockey. Great angle viewing and glare is not there. (I get alot of sunlight in the room) Sound is of good quality.
Bottom line, we all want a quality product and a good price. With the money I saved, I bought cables,

I have now had a month to view this TV and I must say I have no complaints. First, the delivery was flawless. The shipping company was on time, unpacked the TV, placed it on my stand and even took away the packaging. The viewing experience has to be experienced to be believed. I have an extensive DVD collection and also a smaller Blu Ray collection so I tried a good sample of both to get a feel for the quality of the display.
The Blu Ray disks are absolutely gorgeous. The Blue Planet disk showed the blue color as well as my old Sony. I always thought that Sony did the best job with color accuracy especially the blues but I must say this set matched Sony if not exceeded it.

I am very pleased with this plasma especially considering the reasonable price.

Pros: Good picture, lots of inputs. Works well with my PC (DVI to HDMI cable). Cons: Gets a little hot. Menu kinda sucks. When you turn on the TV it doesn't go to the active input. You have to scroll with the remote everytime. Sound is ok, but i never expect too much from TV speakers. For the price this is a better choice than a Panasonic, imo. I've had it for 3 months now. Amazon white glove delivery was great.

Ive had this tv for a couple of weeks now and I am extremly satisfied. The color is amazing, and the blacks are deep and rich. And for the price you wont find anything comparable. I did a lot of research before this purchase and everything I read pointed me towards this tv. CNET.com is a great site to do your research on. If your concerned about the red tint on the border of the tv, dont be. It doesnt light up or anything (I thought it did) and it is hardly noticeable. Dont let that sway you one way or another.
The price on amazon is, as usual one of the cheapest around. There was one other site that was less expensive but I never dealt with that web site before and shipping was extra. When I purchased this tv from amazon it was only about [...]bucks more and the shipping was included. Also the shipping was white glove into my living room and actually arrived a day earlier then they promised! They did call me ahead of time to make sure it was okay they delivered early and of course I said

I teach film and wanted something that would enhance my viewing experience without overwhelming my medium sized, 14 wide by 20 living area. This TV is perfect and the sound, unlike some of the smaller Samsungs, is very good. While not the theatrical surround sound experience, the down facing speakers work well and produce realistic tones whether you are listening to voice or music. They also allow for a clean appearance which is further enhanced by the touch of red screen. If you are not the techie type and cringe at hooking up one more wire or don't want to lay out another $500 on sound, you should be quite happy with this set just the way it is.

My couch is about 12 feet from the screen, while the arm chairs go as close as 6. I find this distance just about perfect for watching the 50 inch screen. I've even had a few friends comment that they almost felt dizzy watching large, fast moving, objects on the screen. If you are wondering how big to go, I personally don't think paying $$$

I bought this tv three weeks ago, CEVA delivered within 7 days of ordering, great delivery, they delivered within 24 hours of scanning the item into my local CEVA hub. They brounght the TV in, took it out of the box, set it on my stand and made sure it worked. I signed for it and they were off within 25 minutes.

The TV is truly amazing. I can honestly say that I have never seen a better picture. No issues whatsoever with this set so far. HD sports are unbelievable and even SD cable is very nice. TV gets a little warm to the touch but certainly not hot. The remote wheel takes a little getting use to but is not bad IMO. The sound on the set is surprisingly better than I expected. I will be hooking up 7.1 but haven't purchased the receiver yet.

If you are in the market for a TV this one will not let you down. I was a little disappointed that as of Sept 1 Amazon will no longer give you the price reduction when they mark something down from the time you order to the time it's delivered. Two

I considered not getting a plasma since the great room we have has plenty of ambient light; however, it has not been a distracting prolem for us and the TV is bright enough to compensate. Samsung did a good job with the new filter bright technology. If we were watching a dark movie during the day, it would probably be a more noticeable issue, but not a deal breaker for us. One thing to consider is that our TV does not have a window directly opposite from it, but rather the windows are to the side. I got the TV because I did not want any issue at all while watching sports and I am completely satisfied. I have not had any problems with getting the picture adjusted and used the suggested settings on the Buyer's Plasma Guide website. Don't be intimidated to buy from Amazon, they are a fantastic online retailer.

The picture and viewing angle are amazing. I almost bought the PN58A650 (the 58" screen) and decided to spend the extra money on the 63". I'm glad I did because I did not want to be staring at the 58" for the next few years always wondering what the 63" would look like. If you're hesitant about buying it online, I went to Consumer Reports and buyers are just as happy buying online verses a store. The delivery was great. I got a tracking # and the white glove service was nice. They brought it in, took it out of the box and set it on the furniture and I hooked up the HDMI cable and they turned it on to verify that the picture was ok and off they went. The touch of color is pretty subtle and looks nice. I was concerned about the glare/reflections on the glass but the anti-glare technology they have is fine. I have two windows behind me and I was able to see them with my old 61" projection but I can't see them on this.

When I told my wife I wanted an HD Plasma she was happy to oblige...the only catch was we had to save up for it so we would have it all paid for when we bought it. What did that mean? We had to save for a YEAR! Was it worth it? You betcha!
It's amazing how much HDTVs improved in just 12 months! Had we bought it a year before we would have gone with a 720p Samsung like my parents have (also a fantastic TV), but that extra year helped prices go down. We paired up the TV with the Blu-Ray Player found in the Sony PS3 and man does it pop! You love sports? You absolutely have to get a Plasma...don't let anyone trick you into getting an LCD. The plasmas refresh their picture four times faster than any LCD. Don't get caught in the blur! Everything about this TV is awesome. Get it! Get it from Amazon! The delivery service is impeccable. There's no tax depending on where you live. You can't find it cheaper anywhere else. This TV is the way to go! You won't regret it. The touch

I recommend this TV and I recommend Amazon as a vendor. Initially I ordered the 46" LCD Samsung (650), it had intermittent display problems so I sent it back. Meantime my "research" revealed that many authorities prefer the picture quality of plasma to LCD. So I opted for this one, and I'm very happy with it. I'm convinced it offers a better picture than the LCD I started with, though it's difficult to say why. The LCD seemed to have deeper blacks (when viewed head-on, at least) and it was surely brighter. But the picture on this plasma seems less like a big flat computer monitor and more like a CRT. It has more depth of color. It can reproduce action sequences without gimmicky options like 120hz. In terms of screen size, I think 50" is plenty big if you intend to watch both TV shows and movies in a room of moderate size. TV shows (and ads) are designed to grab your attention on a small screen; with a 50" screen, the effect can be overpowering. But if you're looking for a dedicated movie

I just let go of a Sony CRT HDTV to purchase this, which I've had now for three weeks. I was slow to go to flat panel because of their notoriously poor rendition of blacks. I was right to wait, and this was the right product to wait for. I don't know how blacks could get any darker than the way they're displayed on this screen. In addition, what I thought was black on the CRT was often very dark blue, very dark green, etc... this TV delivers blacks but also nicely renders colors very close to black. Cons: I'm glad I don't have this screen in a bright room - there is some glare, though improved over earlier models - and the heat it puts out is surprising. But I think heat is one price you pay for going to plasma. Other nice touches: jpg and mp3 support. Haven't done the sound yet, but for jpg, just plug in a thumb drive, then point to the photos and ask for a slide show. Images, of course, have excellent resolution.

This is a great TV. I did ton's of research before I settled on this TV. It was between this and the Panasonic Viera TV with THX certification. The panasonic was more expensive. I went and looked at both side by side and could not tell the difference between the 2. The red "touch of color" is very subtle, and not an issue. This TV is phenominal!
