I just bought a PDP-6020FD I used the one click buy deal and had issues with the bank and my card, not a problem. Problem is this is not the White Glove delevery, some fly by night company drops off set and leaves. I waited about 90 minutes to plug in and turn on, after plug in all I get is a buzzing sound and no picture, none what so ever. I bet I will have all kinds of fun repacking this 60" monster and sending it back from wence it came. Has this happened to anyone else?

Amazing is the only way to describe it. For the longest time I thought LCD was the way to go. But decided to take a serious look at plasma tvs, primarily because of inherent motion lag and color reproduction issues with lcd. Fancy technology such as 120 Hz still does not mask the problem to a trained eye. Once I decided to go with Plasma, I did a comparision between Pansonic, Pioneer & Samsung. Did a side by side comparison at Best Buy & found the Samsung to have the best picture quality.

I looked for around 6 months for a new HDTV to replace a Sony XBR1 40" I've had for several years. After spending way to much time reading CNETs reviews, I settled upon this TV.
The performance is excellent. It certainly has better image quality than my Sony LCD, both when watching movies (due to the excellent contrast), and when watching fast moving basketball, in which my sony LCD would occasionally have motion artifacts. I think much of the LCD motion artifact thing has gone away with high end LCDs these days.
If you are a video nut that wants to change every aspect of the settings, you need to get the elite model, which is basically the same TV, but with all the settings opened up. You only get basic settings with this model. However, it has a mode that I personally like called "Optimum", where the TVs sensors detect what type of picture is being displayed along with the ambient room conditions and adjust accordingly. So far I've left it on that and it has been great. I have

I bought this set from Amazon over two months ago and have waited until now to add my review. The initial delay was due to DirecTVs 4 week waiting list to hook up their HR22 high definition DVR to this amazing Pioneer Kuro set.
Since I was forced to watch standard def images on the 6020FD for almost a month, you can guess the difference a high definition picture made. I can not add to the superlatives mentioned in the other reviews with regard to the Pioneer Kuro. The colors are vivid and the images literally jump off the screen. I didn't understand all the talk about the color "black" and how it's different from plasma to plasma but I do now. Want to really be blown away by this new tv? Punch up one of the kids channels available in high def like Disney or The Cartoon Network. The color saturation on these animated shows is not to be believed. Even my kids are impressed by the set.
Here are a few caveats for the White Glove Delivery as I too, had a few issues. First, working

I bought this tv three weeks ago, CEVA delivered within 7 days of ordering, great delivery, they delivered within 24 hours of scanning the item into my local CEVA hub. They brounght the TV in, took it out of the box, set it on my stand and made sure it worked. I signed for it and they were off within 25 minutes.
The TV is truly amazing. I can honestly say that I have never seen a better picture. No issues whatsoever with this set so far. HD sports are unbelievable and even SD cable is very nice. TV gets a little warm to the touch but certainly not hot. The remote wheel takes a little getting use to but is not bad IMO. The sound on the set is surprisingly better than I expected. I will be hooking up 7.1 but haven't purchased the receiver yet.
If you are in the market for a TV this one will not let you down. I was a little disappointed that as of Sept 1 Amazon will no longer give you the price reduction when they mark something down from the time you order to the time it's delivered. Two

After doing countless hours of research on the best TVs, LCD or Plasma, Pioneer or Panasonic, I came to the conclusion that Pioneer Plasmas are the best. And then after reading countless reviews on how amazing this TV is I finally decided to get one. It was definitely a hefty price tag, but from what I read, it was well worth it. After watching a couple blu-ray movies from my PS3 and playing Oblivion it simply did not meet my expectations. Granted my expectations were extremely high after reading the reviews. I had upgraded from a 42" LG LCD and the difference was just not worth the price tag. It is definitely better. I love this TV but I guess i was just setting my expectations too high. I guess I simply wanted the images to pop out of the TV. And I don't know, maybe I'm doing something wrong. Maybe my settings are wrong, or the calibration, but it's just not what I thought it was gonne be. If you have the $3k-$4k to drop on a TV, by all means, drop it on this one. But if you

I typed a huge review and I ran out of space. This really pissed me off - but I like this TV enough that I'm rewriting a shorter and different kind of review.
WHAT KIND OF GUY ARE YOU? I'm a guy that wants things done right! "Right" being the way I think it should be done, because I'm a guy that thinks I'm smarter than most other guys, even if I'm not. I'm a guy that's pissed off at Amazon because I wasn't allowed enough space to write my original massive super detailed review. I'm a guy that is irritated when I have to ask a waitress more than once for the same thing. I'm a guy that's pissed off when airlines charge for a second bag or for a beverage. I'm a guy that wants an iPhone more than anything but doesn't have one because I hate the way Apple is trying to force AT&T on me. I'm a guy that is planning to drop Comcast because they are planning to cap users internet usage even though I'll never come close to 250GB a month. I'm a guy that researches 20 different websites to find out

The Research:
So after 3 months of research, reading reviews, and lurking the avsforum, I had finally narrowed it down between the 2008 Samsung line or the Panasonic line. This is a condensed comparison between what I was able to gather about the two lines:
Samsung:
The plasma 550 and 650 have the potential to produce the most accurate colors. This means that after a proper calibration you are going to see the colors as the director/post-production crew want you to see. By comparison, the Panasonic line (80u, 85u) are going to have a slight "red push." This will be most noticeable on flesh tones, which will make people appear more pink or red than actual. This is supposedly because Panasonic's research found that test groups preferred a slight "red push." I would withhold judgment until you see it for yourself, you just might like it. Either way, unless you are a videophile (in which case you'd be looking at the Pioneer pros anyways) you aren't going to notice this unless you plan

I didn't know much about televisions when I bought this on the recommendation of a friend who has one. As somebody who doesn't know much about televisions I can't tell you much about the color saturation, refresh rates, black levels, contrast, or indeed many other technical topics. I can tell you, though, that the TV is a joy to watch. Super-clear picture, great color (once you take it out of "dynamic" mode and put it into "movie" mode), and even switched off it's very attractive in a black minimalistic kind of way.
Amazon delivered early, a pleasant surprise. The delivery firm was helpful and careful, and did everything I'd hope for in terms of getting the thing out of the box and mounting it on the stand.
Two small disappointments, neither a big deal:
1. The remote is pretty lame. The one with this TV is altogether fully-featured but otherwise dull and unimaginative. No attention to ergonomics or usability whatsoever. I know, I know, just like most remotes... but I'm a TiVo user so

The picture and viewing angle are amazing. I almost bought the PN58A650 (the 58" screen) and decided to spend the extra money on the 63". I'm glad I did because I did not want to be staring at the 58" for the next few years always wondering what the 63" would look like. If you're hesitant about buying it online, I went to Consumer Reports and buyers are just as happy buying online verses a store. The delivery was great. I got a tracking # and the white glove service was nice. They brought it in, took it out of the box and set it on the furniture and I hooked up the HDMI cable and they turned it on to verify that the picture was ok and off they went. The touch of color is pretty subtle and looks nice. I was concerned about the glare/reflections on the glass but the anti-glare technology they have is fine. I have two windows behind me and I was able to see them with my old 61" projection but I can't see them on this.

The new Kuro PDP 6020FD has excellent picture quality. I noted the PDP 6010FD for sale at Sam's Club for $3958, listed as a one-time buy. I figured this was the closeout of the old stock coming with the release of the PDP 6020FD. Amazon had a great price on the new model, and with delivery it was a better deal to get the new model. Delivery went faster than expected, and it was up and working within an hour. I have it burned in and just had its calibration done. Everyone is shocked by the picture quality. It is excellent.

This is one great TV. Picture is amazingly crisp and sharp.
Only problem I had, was with a remote. I called Pioneer customere Service and They gave me local phone number to call for free service. I left a message with this company. It has been more than 4 days and still no body has called me to resolve my problem. Meanwhile, I resolved the problem on my own effort.
Other than that, love this great television set.

The Kuro PDP-6020FD is an exceptional flat panel display. I continue to marvel at the realism when watching High Definition shows. I do not hesitate to recommend this device.
At the end of my review I will include D-Nice's review from the AVS Forum. It will provide a technical evaluation for you to judge the 6020.
The following is my Amazon purchasing experience... In a pre-purchase call to Amazon a representative confirmed that they are an authorized Pioneer dealer and that `White Glove Delivery' was included in the indicated purchase price. Amazon also has a 30 day price guarantee. If Amazon drops their price within 30 days of your purchase they will credit your method of payment with the discount. You must call Amazon once you notice the price reduction to request the credit. I read many of the reviews and wanted to have a reputable seller. This would be necessary if anything went wrong (e.g. damage) with the purchase of a large, delicate, expensive TV that is shipped several hundred

I can't express how much I love this TV. The deep blacks makes the picture pop with a rich dimension. Watching movies on Blu-Ray on this set is now one of my favorite pass times. I just purrrr with happiness when I sit and watch movies and sports on this. You won't regret your purchase if you cost is not an option.

I ordered the PDP-6020FD from Amazon, even though the 6th Ave. price was a few bucks cheaper because I'd read about delivery problems with them. At $4049 with free white glove delivery, it was a great price. The unit shipped instantly and arrived two days early. The two guys who dropped it off were very nice, but they skipped the part about unpacking and checking out the unit. My wife, who was there to accept, was not aware that they owed us that. So that night we unpacked it to find the glass screen badly cracked. Called Amazon right away and they were very responsive and apologetic. They credited me the $103 white glove delivery cost, even though it was free to start with, then they shipped a replacement. It arrived within a week and was in perfect condition, just in time for the Olympics.
The unit itself is gorgeous, as many others have said. The Olympic opening extravaganza in 1080p on that giant screen was jaw-dropping. I have it hooked up through a new Pioneer VSX-1018 receiver that

After doing a good deal of research I decided on this set and couldn't be happier with my decision. I've mounted it on the brick wall above my fireplace and the picture is just beautiful. No glare problems at all. It does put out a lot of heat and make sure you have a couple of strong friends to help you mount it but this is the best value I found. You can't go wrong with this set and the entire Amazon experience was outstanding. I notice that the price has dropped $50 since I bought mine so I need to figure out how to take Amazon up on their price guarantee.

I purchased the 5020FD to replace my samsung 60 inch DLP. This TV is much better in everyway albeit smaller in size. You have to mount the speakers but that did not take long. The speaker quality by the way is great-- pioneer has been around since at least the 70's and they know how to make speakers. The picture is amazing-- needs some minor adjustments only. I have challenged the picture with my sony playstation 3, DVDs, and BluRays. There is no motion artifact which is troubling on LCDs. I was particularly pleased with bright whites on dark blacks-- rock concerts and movies like the Matrix and Harry Potter pixilate when lightning strikes or wands fight on LCDs but NOT on this plasma. I was very pleased with the price... currently $400-900 cheaper than best buy. 6ave delivered the TV promptly in 4 days. I am very pleased.
