Fabulous set for the value. Only one small scratch on the TV frame and one on the actual glass. When TV is on you cannot even see it. Great 2nd TV for kids/friends.

Hitachi 42HDS69 - 42" Ultravision plasma TV - widescreen - 1080i - HDTV - silver - Factory Sealed
I am very pleased with this purchase. It arrived in a timely manner (1 week from ordering) It arrived in good shape and was up and running within 5 minutes of unwrapping - which is amazing as both my husband and I are 'electronically challenged'. It required no adjustments. The picture is brilliant and clear. I would highly recommed purchasing this product.

Hitachi 42HDS69 - 42" Ultravision plasma TV - widescreen - 1080i - HDTV - silver - Factory Sealed
The reset *feature* can be turned off. Look at page 59 in the owner's manual and select NO for Reset TV Settings under the Reset the Software menu. I assume this setting is provided for retail floor displays, so if people monkey with the settings, the salesperson can restore to default with a simple power cycle.
Great set. Highly recommended.

Hitachi 42HDS69 - 42" Ultravision plasma TV - widescreen - 1080i - HDTV - silver - Factory Sealed
HD TV has a great picture, easy to set up, but has one problem, when resetting the Video functions, it reverts back to the orginal settings (when turned off) that was set to factory settings and I have to reset all Video settings each time I turn the TV on again.

Hitachi 42HDS69 - 42" Ultravision plasma TV - widescreen - 1080i - HDTV - silver - Factory Sealed
This Hitachi TV is so nice to look at, having a bright color definition, and clear, sharp pictures. Wow, the high definition is clearly HD - so much more brilliant than our other regular TV.
Thank you, Overstock. Great product in looks, ease of operation, enjoyment, sound quality, picture reproduction and more!
Love it!

Also, it arrived within a week of when I ordered it! What a speedy delivery!

Hitachi 42HDS69 - 42" Ultravision plasma TV - widescreen - 1080i - HDTV - silver - Factory Sealed
I purchased this set through the Amazon "free shipping & no interest" plan. Truth be told, I decided in this set after visiting BestBuy three or four times to compare sets. For this set the final cost of Amazon's financing is competitive with the best flat out purchase rates currently available. Aside from comparing the build and picture quality in store, I also did a fair bit of online research on this Hitachi set. Needless to say, reviews are mixed, but ultimately the image in store convinced me. I also own a Panasonic plasma (their industrial PHD8UK series) that has phenomenal picture quality. The only make that eclipses the picture quality of the Panasonics are the high end Pioneers. However, I do not feel there is a large enough gap in PQ in order to warrant the steep markup for a Pioneer. Now the Hitachi 42HDS69 has a respectable picture quality. Specifically, the resolution is a step above the Panasonic and other non 1080p sets, the color is a bit off and definitely a step down from

Hitachi 42HDS69 - 42" Ultravision plasma TV - widescreen - 1080i - HDTV - silver - Factory Sealed
I spent 3 months researching TV technologies, products, vendors, store visits etc.. As a former management consultant, I subjected these inputs to rather rigorous analysis on quantitative and qualitative factors. Ended up choosing plasma, and this TV and here's are the top 'likes' with the TV: I wont repeat the oft stated pros/cons of plasma tech per se, but will stick with whats relevant and what you might care about THIS TV!

1. Contrary to popular belief, this TV is rather lightweight. (I bought and returned a Vizio 42 inch LCD and that was a lot lot heavier!)
2. It comes from a top tier manufacturer that is constantly pouring money into R&D. The TV's firmware can be upgraded through a little slot in the back panel. Check out the tech speak on ALiS technology. Ends up using less power too and generates lesser heat than other plasma panels because of the lesser number of electrodes used in the panel. I would recommend staying AWAY from Vizio and other non-name, second tier brands. The

Hitachi 42HDS69 - 42" Ultravision plasma TV - widescreen - 1080i - HDTV - silver - Factory Sealed
My choice was between the panny and the hitachi. My choice was the hitachi, the picture is just so vivid. The 3 dimensional look is amazing. I'm only using component cables, so I can't imagine with an hdmi hookup. Hate to buy a HDMI DVD player when the next generation DVD player will have falling prices in the next year.
But this TV is where its at. Got mine for $1150.00, cheapest I've seen anywhere. I feel like I stole it. Its that good. Hitachi has done it again. Reality at its best.

Hitachi 42HDS69 - 42" Ultravision plasma TV - widescreen - 1080i - HDTV - silver - Factory Sealed
Pros- Price value is huge,I got mine for about $1,500 after taxes. Nice quality image with 1080i ability, stylish simple design, the swivel base stand is nice, outstanding connectivity choices including 3 HDMIs. The built-in speaker audio is above average for a flat panel, and low volume level isnt an issue. I have digital cable, and all of the non HD programing looked better than expected, while the HD channel viewing pleasures have ranged from very very nice to absolutely jaw drop stunning.

Cons- Not the best black levels but very acceptable. The remote is difficult to read in low light(grey font on black was not the wisest remote color scheme) In general this plasma can be oversatuated. You may want to lower the color down a lot in the video settings.

I highly recommend u spend the time and adjust ALL the video control settings to your liking. Experiment and see what looks best to you. Its worth the time and effort to tweak.

For those interested, I presently keep my set at : Picture

Hitachi 42HDS69 - 42" Ultravision plasma TV - widescreen - 1080i - HDTV - silver - Factory Sealed
When my JVC rear projection set broke I gave it to my son for him to repair and purchased a 42" Hitachi plasma set. I am totally amazed at the fabulous picture and sound quality. I am also impressed with the sets appearance as it has a very small border leaving a tv that looks totally screen only. Having downsized from a 52" set to a 42" screen, the Hitachi porjects itself as being much largr then it is. I would recommend thi set to anyone looking for a plasma in this size. The set is awesome in all aspects.

Hitachi 42HDS69 - 42" Ultravision plasma TV - widescreen - 1080i - HDTV - silver - Factory Sealed
Just purchased the Ultravision from CC. Like many of you who are very knowledgeable shoppers, I meticulously researched for almost a month before deciding on this HDTV. My choices was narrowed to three units, the Sony 40" Bravia V2500 1080p LCD, Panasonic 42" Plasma PX60U, and the Ultravision 42HDS69. The Hitachi weighted much better in picture quality or on par with the Sony, sound quality, inputs, and of course the price, $1296 out the door, from price matching policy + 25% refunded of the differrence.

The picture is incredible bordering on stunning! Highest pixel count for current Plasmas on the market, 1024 x 1080, over a million one hundred thousand pixels and ability to display approx. 281 trillion colors! 1080P Plasmas are just now coming out at premium prices. Current prices of 1080P LCDs are still at a premium but coming down. Side by side comparison of the Hitachi Plasma and the Sony 1080P LCD is miniscule and almost undectable and much more vibrant in contrast details
