I bought this for my daughter who is studying abroad. My husband carefully opened the box and took photos with it. Then rewrapped it back in its original packing to surprise her. He enjoyed the camera so much that he wanted one. At 10.1MP, you can't beat the quality. And it was so easy to use the first time that he didn't need to destroy the instruction manual. She wanted a very small camera with great quality and the Casio came through on all accounts.

Small enough to fit in my pocket, however, after 1 week, the screen got a hairline fracture. Even with the pointer pen, screen easily stores fingerprints. Buttons are hard to push with pointer, and navigating is not easy. The flash is VERY Bright (blinding - the kids no longer enjoy having their picture taken), and I have not figured out how to soften it. I have read the manual cover to cover and still have difficults getting the performance I need. First batch of pictures were VERY Grainy (my old Kodak 3.1MP camera took clearer images).
Sony replaced the screen quickly, which was very nice. Perhaps I just need to get acclimated with it more.

I spent several weeks reviewing the REBEL XS vs it's many 10 MP adversaries, I even checked it against the ultra zooms as I wanted the convenience of video as well, but too many good things stood out with this camera and so I decided upon it. I bought the rebel XS and after days of dirt testing this camera I've found it a beautiful experience.
Now I'm a professional videographer attached to a tv station in Trinidad & Tobago, my purpose for this camera was the need for a quick sharp still shot camera that would be impressive under low light and still capture impressive portrait shots to be used for my website and for large prints. I didn't want to shell out over a $1000. US for a camera body.
What is tagged by Canon is true: The full auto mode is truly accurate and gives excellent shots always, it makes photography so easy for a beginner or intermediate. The portrait mode isn't blurry, images are clean, nicely toned, excellent in quality for large size prints. The

I purchased this camera primarily for its ability to record 720 video in a small form factor.
I've never owned a digital camera, but thought that it was finally time to stop relying on my girlfriend to take photos. Living in San Francisco, having quick access to a camera is vital and a small slim factor is key.
I bought this camera mindful of the caveat that its battery life is terrible, so I ordered an extra battery. I was pleasantly surprised to find a battery charger bundled with the camera. Even two fully charged batteries, however, wasn't enough energy for a trip to the California Academy of Sciences for 3-4 hours. Perhaps 20 minutes of HD video--total--and 300 photos completely drained both batteries. Flash was rarely used, to make the limitations of the battery even more dramatic.
I enjoy the camera and the video quality, but this battery life is absolutely terrible. If I was to go on a day trip, there would be no way 2 batteries would be enough. The supplied battery charger takes

A GREAT CAMERA FOR THE AMATEUR IF SERIOUS ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY, IT HAS AN AWFULLY LOT OF SETTINGS THAT CAN BE USED BUT TAKES A LOT OF STUDYING THE MANUAL TO MASTER ALL OF ITS POTENTIAL.
I HAVE YET TO EXPERIMENT WITH CONTROLLING WHITE BALANCE AND BRACKETING BUT I'M GETTING THERE.
THE PRICE GIVES MORE BANG FOR THE BUCK THAN THE MID-RANGE NIKON OR CANNON.

Bought this camera after wife divorced and took our other one. Excellent price and great picture. Pulled up the pictures on the 42' plasma TV and the pictures are clear as can be. Takes a little while to work through all the functions, but when you learn how to use everything, it is great.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28S 10MP Digital Camera with 18x Wide Angle MEGA Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Silver)
I began taking scores of photos as soon as the camera arrived and have been completely satisfied with its performance. I use it a lot for nature shots, especially animals, and find the 18X exceptionally effective. My HAND-HELD SHOTS AT FULL 18 X zoom are amazing - strong testimony to Panasonic's image stabilization. My assessment now is that this may be the last camera I will need. Worth the full 5 stars!

Still new but have used quite a bit. It's a great camera -- does everything I need and more. Photo quality excellent and the camera is intelligent enough to keep me from screwing up the drill. Well worth the price.

If you want a small camera that you can fit in your pocket or purse and take good quality images without paying a lot this is perfect for you. I had the 6.2 mp version a long time ago and it worked perfectly for 2 years untill the shutter wouldn't open (other people I knew had the same problem). I then swithced to the Sony from the Aerosmith comercial, which I loved for the lense and features and would reccomend if you are looking to pay more. Then it came out of my pocket on a rollercoaster and that was that - so for not wanting to pay a lot for another camera, I knew this would do the deal.

I've owned the LX2 for a year and a half now and decided to try an LX3 to see if any of the LX2 shortcomings were remedied.
Long story to short,don't bother.
Yes the lens on the LX3 is slightly faster and goes a little wider and yes
the noise has been reduced a bit but in reality you will rarely notice the improvements in noise over the LX2.
Unfortunately none of it makes up for the big detraction from the new LX3 which
is the radically shortened Zoom range which I miss a lot.You just can't move in on a subject like you could with the LX2 and therefore must do it with software after you have taken the picture.Of course when you have to blow up and crop a photo is when the noise in the photo can become a more noticeable problem. The camera is also slightly larger than an LX2 and unfortunately Panasonic decided to continue with the very annoying lens cap design for lens protection. If they are going to make us use a lens cap why then would they make us buy a special adapter just to add a

Very pleased with this model of Canon. My family owned an older version of it, but this one is great. The features are almost the same as on our old camera, all functions are right there and you don't have to look around. Perfect for families with children and those that are on the go.

This is the first Panasonic camera that lives up to the Leica name on its lens. Images from the JPEG engine show both accurate colors and plenty of detail.
You can take great pictures with the camera out of the box, or you can dive deeply into the manual controls to get exactly what you want out of an image.
Buyers should be aware that you have to give up the telephoto end of the zoom range in exchange for this camera's 24mm wide end. It may seem like a difficult compromise to make until you remember that you can always zoom with your feet. Give 24mm a try.

This camera has been wonderful since I got it. It took me some real long hours researching the details before I found it here. Here is some of the data I found out so maybe it can help the shoppers that are unsure of its stats (I found these on the web):

Movie resolution: 640x480 VGA
Battery life: about 225 shots (depends on flash and other uses)
Dimensions: 3.8" X 2.4" X 0.6"

First the negative: Yes, there is some lag after pushing the shutter button, as well as inbetween photos. I knew that going into the purchase, though it wasn't as bad as I was expecting.
I can live with that, however, because otherwise this camera is amazing. I had a Nikon Coolpix 550, which gave me the dreaded "lens error" message after only 3 months, and it never worked again. Having young children in the house and enjoying taking pictures on all kids of trips in all kinds of conditions, I can't afford to have a camera that needs to be treated like a decorated egg.
That's where the 1050SW comes in. The durability of this camera is nothing short of awesome. I love having a camera that can be dropped and get soaking wet and still work perfectly. The sliding lens cover keeps junk out of the lens area when the camera's not in use. Genius all-around design.
As far as the photos themselves, there are TONS of settings that can greatly improve picture quality. Leaving the setting to "auto"

My new camera is the Olympus 1050. Love it, love it, love it! The only exception I have to that is this: it does seem to eat up the re- charge battery time. This might be due to my setting it on close ups, etc. Since I do have an extra battery, it is OK, as I can recharge it as I need to. It is also the best size for my pocket -- so light weight and I can wear it around my neck on a lanyard to have both hands free. I have not tested it's ability to withstand dropping, snow like conditions, etc.

My first Panasonic Lumix was purchased several years ago; I bought their second ultra zoom model available in the US. The camera was heavy and bulky, but, oh, did it ever take great photographs! Because I travel for pleasure several times a year, I decided that I would be more comfortable with a point and shoot camera, a Canon. Somewhere along the line I sold the Lumix, and I've regretted it ever since.
When I got back from Alaska a few weeks ago, I decided that I would begin anew my bi-yearly camera research. I was prepared to purchase a DSLR, but when I came upon the Lumix DMC-FZ28, I could not resist. It took me almost three weeks of intensive research and driving myself crazy before I took the plunge and bought the silver model.
I am very happy to report that I am in the processing of getting to know my new FZ28. While it's not as compact as my old Canon, my new Lumix is going to be easy to travel with. Happily, it's not as heavy as my first Lumix, and it is not nearly as bulky.

I bought this camera in lieu of spending the extra money on a digital SLR. I had several reasons for this, not the least of which being the fact that digital SLRs add so many new features and enhancements to their quality each year while dropping in price. The notion of investing a good $700 or more on something that will be quickly replaced by a much more powerful model within only a year or two just didn't sit well with me. So in my search for something to get me a step up from totally novice point and shoot photography, the superzooms looked like a good option. I will eventually purchase a digital SLR, but my advice to anyone who is uncertain if they're willing to part with that much money just yet is to wait it out. Look at some of the models from only three or four years ago - they offered an average of around 7 or 8 megapixels, lacked features like image stabilization and live view LCD, and cost a few hundred dollars more than today's units. I know that if I had invested a good thousand

I have used Olympus cameras for about 15 years and have always been happy with them. Unfortunately, I have used this camera for six months and am getting a new one. There are several good things about this camera, but there is one huge flaw: poor image quality. I have been doing some research and discovered that the megapixels are the culprit. While the camera has 10MP, the image sensor was not made to accommodate 10MP's worth of detail. Because the image sensor is small, it produces grainy photos. You will get better quality images with a camera that has fewer megapixels and/or a larger image sensor.
Some things I DO like about this camera: 1. Good close-up/macro shots; 2. "Scene" settings, such as "Available Light;" 3. Image name includes the date the picture was taken; 4. Portability/size of camera; 5. You can take panoramic photos (if using xD card); 6. Built-in lens cap; 7. Large LCD screen.
Some things I DO NOT like about this camera: 1. Grainy pictures, especially indoors; 2. Flash

Having researched and purchased this for a present for my daughter I have little time to play with it but what I have so far discovered it is nearly equal to my pricey full size SLR in function and so far picture quality. But for a mid size campact camera with what appears to be an excellent lens(not interchangeable) but with this one, and the average person, you would need nothing else. Most of all it is small enough to carry in a large pocket or purse.
