47 LCD HIGH DEFINITION TV W/ TELEDOCK
I purchased the LT47P789 a couple days ago. I upgraded from the VP322- 32" plasma.
I thought the plasma had a good HD picture until I put them side by side. There really is a big difference in richness and quality between the 2 pictures. The plasma seems to have a dull film over the picture with colors not as true or vivid including blacks. There is also a difference in detail such as face imperfections that are clearly picked up on the 1080 versus the 720 plasma.
For comparison I used a Gefen tv splitter 1:4 that takes the HDMI cable from my Dish Network receiver and splits it to 4-HDMI displays. The Gefen splitters are a little pricey but they also split the audio correctly including lip sync pass through.
2 x 10 watt Speakers provide decent sound and are not tinny like on the plasma. A would recommend a surround sound system for true theater feel however.
I see little to no motion blur while watching sports in HD. Its comparable with the plasma. The tv also has the ipod docking station

Yamaha 600W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System
After having owned a dinosaur Yamaha amplifier combination that I bought when I was in the army 25 years ago, I was pleased with my purchase of this unit. I was so pleased with the quility of the C-4/M-4 combination that the Yamaha YHT-390 was the logical choice for me. It has inputs and outputs galore. Many you wont need, but the choices of types of signal input and output are great. I chose this unit for the HDMI cable input which allows a simple single cord from each of your components and TV. I have it mated to a Vizio 37" LCD and a Yamaha HDMI DVD unit. AM and FM reception are superb with the included antennas and 40 preset stations. There are many options of speaker choice from 2 channel straight stereo to 5.1 surround sound and there are 2 separate speaker outs for my massive old dinosaur speakers. Make certain to get the cables you need from Amazon as they are without a doubt the best price anywhere. In addition to HDMI cables, you may need a toslink cable and a coaxial audio cable

Yamaha 600W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System
this system has power and great sound. more bang for the buck especially in a small to mid-sized appartment or great for a bedroom because speakers are compact, dynamite sub. yamaha did a nice job with the featues on the receiver. for the money you won't go wrong.

Yamaha 600W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System
I spent months picking a stereo system, reading reviews, listening to different systems at big box stores, and ultimately settled on this one.

The reason is simple: this 5.1 system sounded better than any other I tested, even those that cost twice as much! The sound quality of this system is simply amazing at this price. You could drop 3x as much on a Bose system and be less satisfied.

Pros:

3 HDMI inputs with full 1080p pass through. Have a lot of devices? No worries. You can connect a game console, a cable box, and a DVD player, all with zero loss of resolution and picture quality. There are more expensive systems that lack this feature.

Amazing sound quality. This system has a powered sub woofer, which is a MUST for high quality, deep bass. Other systems in this price range lack this feature. The speakers are solid wood construction. Although not glamorous, they feel so much better than plastic, and will still be around when cheaply made plastic bodied speakers are in a land fill.

Yamaha 600W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System
I decided to go with the Yamaha 590bl after several weeks of research on Yamaha and Onkyo HTIBs in the 300 to 600 price range. I was a little apprehensive as there weren't too many reviews to be found on this particular model, but seeing and hearing it at one of the local electronic stores convinced me.

I received the system yesterday, and spent a few hours wiring and setting it up to suit our den - there are quite a few setup options and you can tailor it to perfectly match the room and your listening taste - the customization is really neat once you figure it out. I have it connected to a 46" Sony LCD and a JVC progressive scan DVD player through the component video and digital coaxial hookups, and plan on using the optical inputs for connecting the HD DVR to the Yamaha. Took a while to do all this, but once everything was up and running, boy was I amazed. I've already watched the battle scenes in Gladiator and Saving Private Ryan multiple times and still can't get over how awesome

JVC LT42P789 42 LCD HDTV with TeleDock iPod Dock-42 1080P LCD TV w iPod Dock
The TV is great...on its own. I am totally impressed with the TV. I have to confess the Ipod Teleport is not that great, at least to me. You can't toggle playlists and you can't listen to the Ipod in TV mode. To switch playlists you have to manually do that on the ipod. I think this is a seriously flaw. Who the heck wants to have to walk up and toggle to switch playlists. Also your play list will not show up on the screen so you have to push forward to get to other songs. As I write this, I am higly disappointed with the Ipod function. If you are buying for this reason, please don't. If you are buying this for the TV, then ok. But the Ipod dock SHOULD NOT be your determing factor.

Yamaha 600W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System
I wanted a nice sound system to compliment my Sony 40-inch LCD screen. Originally I purchased Onkyo 3100, however, it did not have any HDMI connections and it would cause the video to stutter on programs in HD. I wanted the Onkyo 5100 but the speakers were simply enormous. I decided to go with Yamaha YHT-590 because of the receiver and the slim looking speakers. The installation took about 45 minutes as I had to cut and splice the thin looking wire (18 gauge). Once plugged in everything sounded excellent. Cannon fire in Master and Commander and the Pirates of the Caribbean was thundering and simply mind blowing. Depth charges in Das Boot...well you have to hear it to really appreciate it. :-).

One of the previous reviewers stated that the center speaker had to be turned down to hear the dialogue and such. Setup options in the receiver allow for numerous tweaks and options which you'll want to play with as the size of your room and the room acoustics will differ from user to user. I have

Yamaha YHT-790BL 5.1-Channel HDTV Home Theater System
This stereo sounds absolutely amazing when listening to a CD, watching a DVD, or watching Cable. This thing gets so loud while still maintaining a clear sound. It wasn't too hard to hook up, but did take an hour or two. Most could probably assemble this faster because I don't know too much about audio equipment. All I know is that I love the way this product sounds and am extremely satisfied with it.

I personally think it was worth every cent. If you are looking for something that is going to produce high quality sound, this is a great item for you. It does not include a DVD player, which I was glad to see because that means you are not paying for anything but the audio.

I hope this review helped some people. I wish I had more knowledge of audio equipment so I could provide better information. If this seems like it is what you are looking for, it probably is. I can't see this stereo disappointing too many individuals.

Yamaha 600W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System
I bought this system after researching for two weeks. I was looking for a system under $500. I was also looking for a system that did NOT include a DVD player as I want to upgrade to a Blue-ray player later on. I liked the price at Amazon and the fact I didn't have to pay sales tax and shipping. When I received the system, I placed the speakers where I wanted them (I also purchased the iPod dock which I think should have been included). You will have to cut and splice the speaker wire but that is not a big deal. My system is hooked up to an HDTV and it sounds great. There are plenty of hook-ups in the back so you can build on this system. There are better products out there but for the money, I think I made out like a bandit. I really love this system!

Yamaha 600W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System
This is my first surround system, and I was lucky I happened to stumble across it. I was a bit leery about the quality when I first saw the price, but I read others' reviews and know that Yamaha is a reputable brand, so I went with it.

I hooked up my DVD player and XBox 360 via TOSlink, and everything sounds superb! I was amazed when the first movie I watched with this system tricked me into thinking there was lightning outside, when it was coming from the surround speakers! I'd definitely recommend this to anyone looking to get a reasonably priced entry level system.

I ordered it with a pair of these Atlantic 77305018 Satellite Speaker Stands (Black) which work fine for holding the front speakers next to the TV.

EDIT: I should mention that I bought this Philips Spooled Speaker Wire - 100ft - 16 gauge with the system because one of the other reviews stated the wire that comes with the system is pretty cheap. I didn't even really look at it, I just used the Philips wire.

EDIT:

Yamaha 600W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System
I am fairly good at electronics but this thing has me stumped, I read the reviews about having no sound through the HDMI, so I have tried Digi Co-ax, optical and analog.
Not even a wisper have I heard, so yesterday I called Amazon paid a little more to buy this at amazon, well actually alot more $499 v $350. I am so glad I did because the guy at amazon was so nice he just said box it up and send it back does not matter that I dont have the box it came in. He offered a refund or replacement, I have opted for a refund and I am thinking of going with the higher end 790. Hopefully it will work at least thats my logic.
I gave 2 stars because although it does not work it looks real nice, and amazon was very helpful.

Yamaha YHT-690BL 5.1-Channel HDTV Home Theater System
Great product for the price. I did the super saver shipping which took about a week longer that regular shipping but was free so it's worth it if you aren't in a hurry. The set up was very easy compared to other systems I've tried. I'm very happy with the sound. I tried the Phillips 2-channel sound bar prior to buying this and there is no comparison. It took a little time to figure out all the settings and we finally figured out that you have to hit the surround sound enhance button on the remote to get the 5-channel to work with the TV mode and radio mode. The speaker wire that came with the system is worthless. You definitely need to upgrade.

Yamaha 600W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System
Already had a DVD player and other components and wanted to upgrade to a better recevier since my old one was 18 years old!!! This one was at a great price and had all of the features I wanted. I did buy some speaker stands to go for the surrounds and a universal remote which all bring the entire entertainment system together. I really like all of the options from this system and it sounds great! Remote is not all that intuitive with having to press an inconspicuous AMP button before selecting other options for the receiver but not too steep of a learning curve. I say this because I haven't yet figured out how to used these features with my lower-end Universal Remote. Set up was easy for me and I highly recommend as others that you get your own, better speaker wire. I will admit I would have liked a few other audio digital input options. For example, the receiver has only a digital coax input for the DVD, and two digital optial (toslink) for the Cable and DVR units. I have it set

Yamaha 600W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System
THE SPEAKERS ARE VERY WELL MADE THE SOUND FROM THE MAINS AND SURROUNDS ARE WELL BALANCED, THE CENTER NEEDED TO BE TURNED DOWN TO KEEP THE FRONT FIELD IN BALANCE. the sub is not as well suited to the system, the volume is very hard to get correct from program source to source. The other parts and wiring were excellent. The amp runs at good volume at 30%.

Yamaha 600W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System
i bought this after selling a huge system [cerwin vega at-15's, 500watt/chnl 4ohm amp, etc.] the stereo was just to big and did not get used much anymore. this new yamaha suround sounds very good for the size and especialy the price. much better than a walmart sony surround i also had. if you want the most bang for your buck, buy it. the hdmi feeds video AND audio to your tv. to get surround you need to make toslink or coax audio connection. tried this. perfect sound! you can assign the three 5.1 audio connections to anything video. you will need to read manual for this. this system is not just plug and play. you have to set speaker size from medium, to small. 8ohm speaker to 6ohm. etc. if this is not done, you will hate the sound, and probably fry the speakers. the woofers in the front speakers will move waaay too much and pop. once its all set to the manuals specs, you will love the sound. overall, great product, waaay better than best buy, walmart etc systems. this is better suited for

Yamaha 600W 5.1-Ch. Home Theater System
I'd like to start by saying Amazon.com is about $100 cheaper than a walk-in store. I bought this system and the sound quality is much better than my old Kenwood system. The speakers are decent sounding with typical particle wood construction and a "piano" finish. It has 2 HDMI inputs and 1 output. There isn't audio decoding through HDMI, though if you are like me, I use the toslink for everything (Sat, DVD and Xbox360). Bass from the subwoofer is deep and powerful. The user manual could be written a little better. The price vs. sound quality strikes a perfect balance and I am glad I purchased it.
