GEFORCE 8600GT PCIE 256MB DDR3
This is an outstanding mid-range performance card: It's reasonably priced, reasonably powerful, well-supported and stable, and runs quiet. It's well made and feels solid; no cheap components here. The overclocking of the XXX edition and the GDDR3 means this card is notably faster than other 8600s.

It's easy to set up, unlike higher-end cards: no special 6-pin PCIe power connector needed, no PCIe 2.0 slot required, no worrying if your power supply has enough juice to drive it, no worrying if that extra long high-end card will fit across your MicroATX mainboard.

Very few other cards will give this level of performance as a straight-forward drop-in on your average consumer desktop PC. Of course, if you're willing to upgrade other components, deal with cooling issues, etc, you can get higher performance for a higher price. But for this effort-level and this price, this card is hands-down the best.

This 8600GT won't run the newest FPS games at their highest settings (but WILL run most

XFX GeForce 8400GS Graphics Card-GeForce 8400GS 512MB DDR2 PCIE
From the description "Dual DVI / S-video" you would think this card has two DVI outputs and one S-video output. No, it has one DVI, one VGA and one S-video output. Although the documentation inside the box shows two DVI outputs, the card itself does not.

GEFORCE 8400GS CHIPSET, GPU CLOCK 450MHZ , MEMORY 64-BIT 256MB GDDR2 800MHZ, PCI
the card seems to be a good card, easy to install, the picture shows a DVI out as well as an "S" video out and a VGA out.
it doesn't come with the DVI out though, it has a different kind of interface that I am not familiar with. it is too much of a hassle to return it and buy another card though so I am using it anyway with the VGA outlet...

GEFORCE 8600GT PCIE 256MB DDR3
Let me start by taking care of a couple worries you might have from some other reviews.

First, the card runs just fine with a 300W power supply. No decrease in performance, no fried card or PS. I even found a comparison showing that the card draws LESS power than the 300W-approved 7600GS I replaced with it. However, I have not OCed it further than the factory OC, myself.

Secondly, I think the fan noise is a matter of personal taste. Yes, it's sort of loud -- but I think it will mainly bother people used to pre-builts, vs. people who build their own and stuff in a lot of fans to be safe. It's going to be almost silent to anyone who crammed one of the old AMD inferno monsters with five fans just to keep the thing from melting down, and loud to someone running, say, one of the nearly silent new HP prebuilts.

Finally, yes, it appears to run fairly hot. I got 61C idle during one test. But the CPU and case were still running cool, and I haven't seen any problems with the card, so I'll just

Diamond Stealth Radeon HD 2400PRO Graphics Card - ATi Radeon HD 2400 PRO 525MHz - 256MB GDDR2 SDRAM
product is advertised as a HDMI device and even offered with a 6 ft HDMI to HDMI cable as a pair. However when I actually received item it is in fact a DVMI output, not HDMI as advertised. This means you would have to purcahse a DVMI to HDMI cable, rendering the "pair" totally useless and a false advertised statement. Other than that it is exactly as shown and advertised, howevr this "simple" discrepency is enough to cause concern as to sellers integrity and honesty.

256MB PNY Verto GeForce 6200 VGA DVI TV DDR (OEM)-GEFORCE 6200 256MB AGP 8X VGA CTLRDVI SVIDEO HDTV BREAKOUT
This card is kind of old, but it's a good card for general use. People with AGP slots would probably be satisfied with this card. The price was excellent - I checked around other places and saw similar cards based on the Geforce 6200 chipset for $20-$40 more.

E-GEFORCE 8600GT PCIE 256MB DVI-I 540MH
You'll notice some that have reviewed this card talking about how they have a Gateway computer... and other nonsense like ram and processors, these are things that have nothing to do with graphics card compatibility. So don't listen to them of course. They all need to get Macs.

This card, if you have the right motherboard for it, packs a lot of bang for your buck, and can run most of the latest games at decent fps. I highly recommend it.

Visiontek Radeon X1950 Pro 256 MB AGP Xtreme Gamer Edition Graphics Card (900111)
I got this card to replace my Gforce 6600gt on my aging AGP machine. It will most likely be my last upgrade on this box. First the card is just what you like to see in a quality component. An overkill all copper heat sink coupled to a big board with plenty of venting. This baby requires a lot of power and even has a power input for a PCI plug or two normal plugs.

At first the drivers were a mess. The supplied drivers were configured for a PCI card and Radeon was not yet directly supporting this board (they are now). I found third party drivers at omegadrivers.net that work great and have built in overclocking (not found on the regular Catylist drivers anyway).

Now that it is working this card screams. I was just chuging on CS:S and now I'm getting 100+ fps on the stress test. It hasn't seen a new game yet that slows it down even on high settings (Bioshock, Team Fortress, Call of Duty 4). This is a great card if you can handel the drivers and need to keep a older box going for

Visiontek Radeon X1300 256MB DDR2 PCI Video Card
I started out by buying a 3D Fuzion GeForce 5500 FX graphics card as an upgrade to the incompatible Intel card on board my Dell 1100 PC to play Guild Wars. Their card was well within the required & recommended specs for the game - but the display would sometimes hitch & lurch during gameplay. Not a good thing in the middle of a melee... The PC is only 2 years old, but it only contains PCI slots. In search of a faster card, I returned the GeForce & tried this card locally. According to VisionTek, this model I am reviewing is identical to the ATI Radeon X1300 model VTK-400073W I bought locally at WM. And if you buy from Amazon instead...as of today's date...you will save $28 on the same identical technology. (I wish I had...)

I am very pleased with the performance of this card. The intermittent display issues the GeForce 5500 FX experienced during the game have cleared up, the quality of the overall visual display is noticeably better. When I click "Auto Detect" in the game's Graphics

E-GEFORCE 8600GT PCIE 256MB DVI-I 540MH
This plays Team Fortress 2, Half Life 2, portal etc at 45fps with all the settings turned up to high @ 1280x1024. Once you're in the game you can't really tell the difference between 30 and 120fps anyways so this is a great card. It plays Bioshock at 35fps @ 1024x768. I'm using a core 2 duo 2.2ghz with 2GB of ram, which is way more processor than I need for these games. If you don't need 1600x1200 @ 120fps this should be just fine for your needs. Also it supports directX 10, but if you're playing games you're probably not running Vista, which needs it to use DX10. But it's there if you need it 10 years down the road.

GEFORCE 8600GT PCIE 256MB DDR3
The fan noise was unbearable. For those concerned about the white noise created by the fan, try the fanless GeForce 8600GT from Gigabyte. I did and I am very happy with it. The only disadvantage to the Gigabyte card is that my case stays about two degrees hotter under load than when I was using the XFX card. Both the cards make HDTV look really nice. Try googling for "silent computing" if you are really bothered by noise. The XFX card is not for you if you are bothered by noise.

XFX GeForce 8400GS Extreme Graphics Card-8400GS PCIE 256MB DDR2 DUAL CTLRDVI DMS-59 LOW PROFILE K4
I've owned several XFX products, and they all have been of exceptional quality. This one is also a solid product with a great price and a DOUBLE LIFETIME warranty.

While it's not a particularly powerful card, it is probably the best of the few dual-DVI or dual-VGA capable low-profile PCI Express x16 cards on the market.

This particular product, as ordered, includes the low-profile bracket but does not include a dual-VGA cable. Instead, there is a DVI-to-VGA adapter to allow you to attach VGA monitors.

Visiontek Radeon X1300 256MB DDR2 PCI Video Card
I searched everywhere for a good PCI video card. I finally found this product. With a good PC you can easily run Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 and Call Of Duty 4 with this video card. Basically I updated because my video card could not run these high end video games. I definitely recommend this video card to those who only can run PCI. Otherwise seek a stronger card if possible.

Visiontek Radeon X1550 256MB PCI Graphics Card (900129)
I purchased an EVGA 6200 PCI video card, but the card must not have been compatible with my motherboard. I have a Dell e310 (aka 3100), and Dell failed to notify its customers that this model PC only comes with PCI slots (no AGP or PCI-e). I purchased the x1550 for $60 used here through Amazon. The card works great! I have Windows Vista Home Premium, but I could not get the Aero features to work until I got this card. The card boosted my rating to 3.5 or so. The aero features are pretty cool. This is one of the best (if not THE best) PCI cards you can buy.

Visiontek Radeon HD 3850 Graphics Card-Radeon 3850 256MB GDDR3 PCIe
Runs cool, and silent, and is able to play any game out there, though "Crysis" will require you to back off the visual settings, it's still gorgeous at medium and very playable.

It does not include a molex 4 pin to pcie 6 pin power cable converter, if you don't have one, or your power supply does not have a pcie 6 pin power connection, you'll need to purchase one.

The good news is it draws very little power, My old generic 250 watt power supply has no trouble driving it, though a better 500 watt unit is in my plans. Nvidea's furnaces could never get away with this.

I've been waiting for supply to catch up with demand, forcing a price drop to at least msrp, but there are just too many good games out there, I couldn't wait any longer.

Of all the video cards out there, nothing tops this in the bang for buck equation.

Visiontek Radeon X1300 256MB DDR2 PCI Video Card
I had all kinds of trouble trying to find the right PCI video card. I tried several different brands, and returned the ones that didn't work well or at all with my Dell Dimension 3000. I had picked up 2 video games and wanted to play them, but they didn't work because my system's video capabilities were not updated enough to handle the technology in the games.

So after trying a few different video cards and having little success, I finally picked up the Radeon X1300 at Walmart, and low and behold the games worked perfectly. You can even adjust the game performance using the VisionTek control panel, so that the game plays better, or the graphics show better, or somewhere in between. I haven't even explored all the bells and whistles of the software that came with the new card, but that's not a problem. As long as my games and other applications work great with this card, I'm a happy computer game playin camper. It works just fine with my Dell, so I'm not sure what other reviewers

in this world of fastest, newest, there are those of us who simply want what works best for us. if you are not into fast games AND high electric bills then this is the one for you. and, unlike a couple of my other video cards which hum/buzz to me each time i turn on the computer, this one is silent. this is about common sense and a really good product.
