This TV is nice looking, compact and light weight, but it has a significant drawback. We brought the TV for use in our kitchen. Since we have no cable outlet in the kitchen, we rely on rabbit ear antennas. We live in an area where over-the-air digital reception is very good. The old analog TV, used with a digital converter box, brought in about 20 digital channels. This new Sharp TV, used in exactly the same location in the kitchen, could not bring in a single digital channel. When we contacted Sharp about the problem, the customer assistance stated the internal receiver was probably too weak. The Sharp internal receiver is definitely weaker than our digital converter box. If you do not have a cable connection, this TV might not be the one for you. We returned it.

Haier HLC19R 19-Inch Widescreen LCD HDTV/DVD CombinationThis is a great tv. I bought it for my bedroom. It doesn't swivel, but it's only a 19 inch, so it's not for a big room. The color is vivid and the settings are perfect right out of the box. Also, it has a very clean looking style. There's nothing around the border to distract your attention. It's sleek and all black. You can't go wrong with this tv.

As most here have said, this TV is great.
There is one problem though and I spoke with Sharp tech. support and their response was "that's the way it is and there is no fix." Also, this my second unit and they are both the same way so it was not a fluke.
The issue is volume (and it may not be an issue for others). When using the TV the volume is more than enough, but playing a DVD movie the volume is only about 1/2 of what the TV volume is. This is an issue for me because I will be using this TV in an RV and when the A/C is running you'll need to turn the volume all the way up to hear it. Other than that, this is a great TV!

I have had this TV for two weeks. It is a superb unit. It connected to a cablebox using an HDMI cable. I purchased the set to use in a bedroom and to take with me to show videos that I use to assit me in teaching. It weighs only 12 pounds and can be moved easily from place to place. The HD picture is superb. I found that the factory setting for sharpness was too intense. I reset it to 20 to make the picture softer. The non-HD picture was good but not equal to the HD picture quality. The sound is good. It has automatic volume control to keep the sound constant during the ads. I really like that feature. It also has an earphone jack. I found that my Bose noise canceling headphones ("Q3's) produced an annoying hum. However, my non noise canceling headphones worked just fine. The progressive scan DVD player is outstanding. The THX version of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" was superb. It will play movies on DVD-R discs. I use imovie and idvd to edit my home movies. The DVD played

We got this TV/DVD player mainly for the DVD and to watch our video camera videos. We are happy with it and liked that it only weighs 11 lbs. The picture is clear, it's relatively easy to use. If using for a TV you do need an antenna and/or cable service...that's not what we got it for. We just wanted something portable, light-weight and easy to use and thats what we got.

I bought this TV for my wife's sewing room & for the money, it is perfect. It has a really nice picture & we love the built-in DVD player.
It is extremely light weight & the sound quality is good.
Amazon delivered it ahead of schedule by several days.

We purchased this TV to take camping for my special needs daughter. We run it off of a generator and it helps her when she gets stressed out. It is compact enough to transport and yet big enough that the picture quality is great. The DVD players works fine and was very easy to operate.

This 19in set with the DVD is wonderful for a small area. You have a great picture and in addition no additional hook-ups for a DVD. The images are clear and the set is already equipped for the change to digital in 2009. I find it appropriate for a kids dorm, a senior's room, etc. I highly recommend it. Could never go wrong with this brand.

After considerable research, this small, and very light weight Sharp looked to be the best 19"LCD with a built-in DVD player. And it is. The picture from Dish Net at 1080i is stunning (both HD & SD), as is the performance of the DVD player. Offair digital tuner works better than most; as well as my Elite 50" Plasma. HDMI hookup is the best, just wish they could have given a second HDMI input, but there are other inputs.
Amazon.com had the most accurate product info.(none on Sharp's site), and the BEST PRICE ONLINE OR RETAIL! As a Prime member, got it in two days. Overall quality and performance is higher than expected. This newly released unit is quite impressive.

I bought one of these tvs (Sylvania LD195SL8) through Amazon (actual seller was TigerDirect.) It is advertised everywhere as an HDTV. It is NOT. The box clearly states in several places on the box that this is a SDTV. TigerDirect gave me a return authorization without any problem, but don't buy this product unless you want a SDTV.

I received this 19in flat screen HdTV for Christmas from my children. So far its great. The picture is sweet and clear. It plays DVDs perfectly. If there was any thing to complain about it would be the cheap Atari like clicker. The buttons are very very small, and it has very little power. Also Coby has not given its acess codes to Cablevision so you cannot use just one clicker you have to use theirs to turn on the tv. They dont answer their phone or e-Mail and thats kind of scary. The sound without a reciever hookup leaves much to be desired...It is very low. The 5 watt speakers are not powerful enough on their own. But again the picture is crisp and clear so far so good..

I got this tv (floor model) for $250.00 including MA 5% sales tax at an electronic store going out of business. I don't watch a tremendous amount of tv, so just wanted a basic flat screen LCD HDTV for watching news, and some shows. This unit is replacing a 12 inch color tube tv bought in the early 1990's.
The tv performs well overall with both cable and dvd playback. I did not experience any major problems, or notice the sound of the DVD player being louder than any other dvd player.
My chief complaints are regarding the manual, the rca connections, and remote control.
The manual is not very well written. It took some time, probably 15-30 minutes, to figure out how to program the tv. I connected it to a coax output from a standard Comcast cable box. And when you turned it on, nothing happened. The manual as well as the on screen menu were not intuitive to set up the unit for the first time. Again it took trail and error, and I'm not sure how the manufacturer did this if they

At the time I purchased the Toshiba (November, 2007), there were not a lot of options for an LCD TV in this size range with an integral ATSC tuner. We were looking for a TV for the kitchen, and this was about the largest size that would fit.
The other reviews suggested that the Toshiba might have more than its share of units with manufacturing defects. However, knowing that such problems typically show up pretty quickly, I decided to go with it.
We have now had the unit for about a month, and thus far I'm pretty pleased. We live in a rural area with no cable, and so are dependent on broadcast TV. The Toshiba pulls in all our local DTV stations sharp and clear with fewer errors than our main TV, a 3 year old Sony (we're in a hilly fringe reception area). Analog over-the-air is about the same as it was for the old CRT set this unit replaced. We won't be using any video inputs in the near future, so I haven't tested these yet.
Picture quality is decent for an LCD, though the color decoder

I wanted something to replace my old 20" CRT. After exploring some of my options, this TV was probably the best deal I could find within my price range.
480i (ATSC and NTSC cable) is fair. Do not expect perfect results on any LCD running at a resolution under its maximum. Colors, specifically red, are very brilliant. That is what really caught my eye when comparing to others within a store. I have noticed some dark scenes sometimes have a greenish tint to them, but this also depends on what you're watching. Audio is fair. It's much better than say my computer LCD's speakers, but I'd strongly suggest getting some alternative audio. The remote control is very powerful and works at most any angle within the same room. Buttons can be a bit hard to find but nothing overly complicated...
The built-in DVD player is pretty fair. I think it only displays at 480p, but it's not too noisy and seems to search rather quickly. I have another DVD player I connected using HDMI and upscaled

I bought this TV/DVD combo a few months ago. First, it swallowed my DVD and refused to give it back. I had to return it to the store for replacement and pay for the lost DVD to Netflix. Now, after about six months, the replacement unit is also broken - it is stuck on channel 5 (Fox, to make matters worse), and refuses to change the channel. I am trying to send it to Toshiba for repair, but their website does not make it easy - the warranty information section sends you to (nonexistent) user manual, and there is no number to call. Don't buy it. Over the years, I owned several TV model - this is the first one to break, twice!

Product reviews on Amazon were bad, but were good on Circuit City. It was cheap ($300) on Amazon, so I went for it. I have returned it twice to repair depot and it still doesn't work correctly. I bought this panel to mount in the kitchen. I mainly wanted a TV but liked the built-in DVD option and thought it would come in handy. TV is great, HD reception over air is pretty good actually. It was returned for the same thing both times--the DVD player does not work. I kept it because it is the "thinest" monitor w/ an integrated DVD that I could find. Even so, the DVD player works intermittently. Insert disc, plays for 15-20 minutes then freezes. If you eject and re-insert DVD, it says "Not Valid Disc." If you unplug the TV for an hour, it sometimes will recognize the DVD again. These are commercial DVDs--not copies I'm talking about. I cannot get it to play a full "out of the box" commercially available DVD the whole way through w/o freezing and getting the "No Valid Disc" error.

When my tiny Casio LCD died, I needed another TV for the Kitchen. Bought a Sharp TV/LCD 19". When I set it up, the sound was garbage. I tried a set of external Lansing speakers, and it was difficult to get the sound right. After adjusting, When I turned the set off, then on, I needed to reprogram it. Customer service at Sharp tried to help, to no avail. Took it Back. Got a 20" LG. Nice set, fair picture, borderline sound. Took IT back. When I got this Toshiba, I got GOOD sound (for tiny speakers- don't need external speakers) and the DVD is wonderful! No issues re: programing or set up. I am far from a tech whiz, but really, If you are literate, and can read on a 6th grade level, you will have no problems with the manual.

I just got the TV a few days ago and its great for the price the DVD is great and the image is good .... I bought it to have it on my bedroom so for the price and for the purpose to have normal tv with good DVD is good so far no any complains everybody should get it

I am disappointed in my purchase of the Toshiba 19HLV87 19" LCD TV/DVD. Normal cable TV channels are not clear...at all. I was not expecting the channels to come in great but not as bad as they are. I just about sent it back. Now when watching DVD's, the picture is really great. If I could have found a little bit larger TV with built-in DVD for just a little more money, I would have sent this back and bought that one. I would recommend spending another $100-$150 and buy something better.

I found it curious that most of the customer reviews for this TV on Amazon were negative, whereas the reviews on Circuit City's website were almost all very positive. Although I tend to go with Amazon reviews, I went against my better judgement and purchased this TV. I really wanted a 19" with built in DVD and the reviews for the alternative brands/models were worse. Plus, all the other Toshiba LCD TVs get outstanding reviews.
After only having the unit for a couple of weeks, I'm pleasantly surprised. I don't have cable and use an antenna. The SD picture is average, pretty much the same as every other LCD TV I've viewed. However, the HD picture is excellent, really eye-popping color saturation, contrast and sharpness. And the DVD playback is equally exceptional. (Contrary to what one previously reviewed stated, I have experienced no loud noise from the DVD player - I can't even hear it running.) Set-up was a snap and the tuner picked up a multitude of digital stations and did
