Gateway NV7802u 17.3-Inch Black Laptop - Up to 5 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Home Premium)
If you are buying a labtop for the first time or just replacing the one you have this computer has it all, and the price is not bad either. With the 4 gb DDR3 memory and the 500 md harddrive is more than enough for everyday needs. Also the built in Webcam, WiFi and 17.3" screen are a added bonus. With Windows 7 as the operating system, it is really no different than Vista. There are only a few difference between the 2 OS, should make for an easy transition.

Acer AspireRevo AR1600-U910H Black/White Desktop PC (Windows XP Home)

The Good-
The NVIDIA Ion LE graphics card is great. I use the Revo to watch .avi file and .mkv files. Note: these files dont play strait out of the box you need to use coreavc codecs and windows media classic home theatre (free download just google it)

There are 6 usb ports for easy access

Hdmi and VGA outputs - I use HDMI with my sony bravia t.v.

It comes with a keyboard and mouse... both work great but you may want to upgrade them eventually.

esata port works great if you have an external hard drive that supports it.

The Cons

LOTS of crapware out of the box really slows down the computer so be sure to uninstall it.

No Wireless card in it but you can buy a usb one for a reasonable price.

You cant upgrade any of the hardware without voiding your warranty - this includes the hard drive and ram!

Even though it has vista, my upgrade to 7 is on it's way. Don't know why others complain of this unit crashing, no such trouble here. I am a heavy user. There is no visible hard drive sync light in the front. Noticed by accident that it is located in back.So if you like to keep an eye on hard drive activity, you have to set this up on your desktop. Other than that I am very happy.

I swore never to buy sony again after my last DVD cam screen stopped working but here i am again.
What sucks;
Can only film i wide screen format.
Must use SONY PICTURE UTILITY to import video. IT IS SLOW AND ANNOYING AND GENERALLY SUCKS. THEN THE VIDEO MUST BE CONVERTED TO ENABLE TO USE ANY PROGRAM OTHER THAN SONY.
AGAIN THIS IS SLOW AND ANNOYING AND I FEEL UNNECESSARY BUT FOR SOME REASON SONY CAN NOT RESIST DOING IT THIS WAY. MOST LIKELY I WILL THROW THIS CAMERA INTO THE TRASH JUST FOR THIS REASON.
Only Adobe sucks more when it comes forcing library features down the throats of the consumers.
I can only assume this is because we would never use their software unless forced to.
If you still feel you must buy this camera, email me and i will sell you this Piece of **** for half price

eMachines ET1810 2GB 160GB HDD

We got this to replace a 6 year old Emachines that died. I am pleasantly surprised at the speed and versatility. We bought it for basic things but it is able to play games like WoW, Far Cry, and TF2 at reasonable settings. The processor does extremely well for what it is. We got this at the store for $249 since that was the price on the website at that time. The only problem was that the software for creating Recovery discs did not work even when patched per instructions in a Live Chat Support session. A followup Chat resulted in getting a free set of Recovery Discs instead of having to pay $20. Don't let anyone tell you that Emachines support is bad. This is the 4th machine I have registered with them and the support through the Live Chat has always been excellent.
One thing I do miss is that it has no activity lights for the Hard Dive or DvD drive but that is becoming common these days.

During the two weeks I used this computer I had the blue screen of death five times and one total freeze-up on my screensaver. The computer diagnosed its problem as being either a problem with RAM, System Board, CPU, or Power Supply. I had trouble installing my Adobe programs onto the computer. Windows 7 comes with no email program, and the email download program is different enough from the old Windows Mail that it is awkward to use. I was unable to use a rapid transfer cable to move my files from my Vista computer to this computer. I suspect the glitch in my computer is a rare problem, but it has indeed been frustrating.

Seagate 2.0 TB USB 2.0 External Desktop Hard Drive ST320005EXA101-RK (Black)

Bought it to use with my WD TV HD Media Player, so the main reason I went with this and not WD My Book, is because this one fits into the shelves. No problems so far, been using it for 4-5 months, just dreaded clicking noise, which drives me nuts - i'm afraid it will give up one day.

ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-PU1X-BK 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 10.5 Hour Battery Life

The ac adapter failed and Wendy the supervisor at ASUS gave me the run-around and will not honor the 1 year warranty. The warranty card plainly states that the warranty covers everything but, the battery or free accessories such as mice or laptop bag. She says that excludes them from covering the AC adapter that is integral to using the laptop. I contend that the AC Adapter is not a free accessory. Wendy is at the Customer Support Line they keep putting in these review responses and their job is to tell you that your warranty does not mean what it reads. I believe they have made a business decision to not stand behind these because they have a high failure rate on the AC adapter. I believe it will cost them more in unhappy customers than they gain by cheating us out of our warranty. I have bought many ASUS products in the past and thought they were a reputable company. I can not recommend them in the future.

ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-PU1X-BK 10.1-Inch Black Netbook - 10.5 Hour Battery Life

This netbook is fine, however the power supply failed in less than 4 weeks. I read reviews from others, and hoped that Asus would have fixed the power supply problem by now. I was wrong. Asus customer sevice was terrible... they refused to replace the defective power supply. Unfortunately from this experience I have to recommend that you avoid Asus products (they could have had a happy customer if they'd just replace a defective power supply).

I was able to set up the hard drive in a relatively short time. The USB cord supplied with the unit is too short and it would be nice if some type of holder was supplied. Since setting up, I've had absolutely no problems. I use it for a back up device.

Well built and nice looking product. The rounded edges and sleek lines of this netbook are really nice. It has a subdued pattern on the lid that is unique. Other Features that I like are the keyboard and built in webcam.

Lenovo Ideapad U-550 15.6-Inch Black Laptop - Up to 6 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Home Premium)

Not quite as solid as a Thinkpad, but not the price of one, either, nor the weight. And much sexier. This is a larger 15.6 inch version of the U350, the earlier version of which critics seemed to love for form factor, but complained about sub-par processing performance. The new lineup seems to fix that problem, and now it is the complete package. The SU7300 Core 2 Duo is lightning fast for the tasks I am doing to this point. Granted, I haven't pushed it to generate 3D CAD drawings, but for Office, Web browsing, working with iTunes and the things most of us do on a daily basis, I certainly am impressed. Huge HD, plenty of RAM. Beautiful keyboard as always from Lenovo. It does lack Firewire, but has every other connection you could want. 3 USBs are nice, as is the card reader and HDMI output. I thought it had bluetooth, but I can't seem to locate it. That could be the difference between this beautiful black version (bought right here on Amazon) and the brown versions sold by Lenovo

Acer Aspire Timeline AS4810TZ-4508 14-Inch Aluminum Laptop - Over 8 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Home Premium)

I ordered what I expected was a new laptop. I received the package on time and opened it hoping to play with my new laptop. I was less than pleased when I noticed three "seal" stickers indicating the packaging had been opened at least three times before me. I decided to keep going. The computer looked good but the stickers on the wrist and touchpads and were obviously pulled off and re-applied several times. I turned it on and everything worked well for a few minutes. And then I tried the DVD player. It was very loose and seemed poorly crafted. The DVD went in and it spun so loudly that it was immediately a concern. There was tapping and what could only be called grinding. A few more minutes of trying to get over it ensured that I could not. I now know why this had been returned in the past. I wrote why I was returning the defective machine in the return instructions. I must warn prospective buyers that quality control may be lacking and this device may be mailed out again

Gateway NV7802u 17.3-Inch Black Laptop - Up to 5 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Home Premium)

Unbeatable value. Bought as a "desktop replacement" for my son in sophomore year. More than enough here to see him through to college. Especially good value when purchased with Office during the recent promotion.
Get something smaller if you need to travel (we have a shared family netbook for days when one of us has to travel with a PC).

Overall, it gets me from point A to point B, but the graphics card is pretty weak, its rated as a 3.4 for games. i do play a few games here and there, and my games dont really display right (AOE2). i probably should have spent a couple hundred more on something with a better graphics card.

Overall, I love this laptop! It's fast, pretty light-weight, and easy to use. For the price I paid....excellent product! I like the glossy look, but don't like the smudges that you can see after you touch it. But that is a minor thing. Overall, again, great computer!!

27-inch iMac

Was looking to make the move from PC to Mac for a while.
It only takes a quick look and a little research to understand how great this machine is. I opted for the Core2 Duo 3G version for budget reasons. A I couldn't justify the cost difference of a higher processor for the things I use it for.
3G is more than plenty.
I now do most of my daily things on the mac, and run Fusion in the background for non portable pc applications.
One machine for all my chores and saves soooo much space. Wish it had been a bit more economical, but still happy with it. The 27" screen is out of this world too!

Sony VAIO VGN-NW240F/T 15.5-Inch Brown Laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium)

I bought this computer when Windows 7 was out. I changed my HPDV2000 and i am very happy. The screen is big and wide, very good for using parallel view windows, now very easy to do with 7.
Keyboard is very confortable, and it's temperature is stable all the time, not as my last laptop.
I specially recommended for entertaiment user, casual gamers, and everyday computing.
Great choice.
My best buy.
