Western Digital My Book Studio 1TB External USB 2.0/FireWire/eSATA Hard Drive
I am primarily using this drive as a backup to my primary home computer (an Intel iMac). I erased and formatted the drive (GUID partition) and I use Shirt Pocket's SuperDuper software to create a bootable backup of my system. For this purpose, it's working perfectly ... transfer speeds are quick, the drive is silent and it looks great sitting next to my computer system. I am using the Firewire 800 to 400 cable (included in the box) to connect to my computer.Cons: the drive is in my bedroom and the pulsing glowing light on the front (even when the drive is ejected) is quite bright. Also, the drive runs quite hot when in prolonged use. Since there's no fan, hot air escapes from the perforations on the top of the drive, so you'll want to make sure it's not in an enclosed space like a drawer or tight shelving.

LaCie 1TB d2 Quadra Hard Disk
I'm an end-user, not a real tech-person. And there is nothing I love better than a product that tells you to plug it in and it will work just fine. I did and it does. Suddenly I have a terrabyte of trustworthy storage on my desk for my years and years of digital and digitalized photos. (I have been shooting RAW for two years and my "C" drive was gagging.) I also store off-site but it is a pleasure to tell Lightroom and Photoshop to look for the good stuff on my LaCie. And, when I finally decide to switch over to a MAC some day,the LaCie can quickly change its loyalty with me.

Western Digital My Book Home 500GB External USB 2.0/FireWire/eSATA Hard Drive
I received the Western Digital My Book Home Edition WDH1CS5000N Hard Drive quickly.
However, I am not a computer wizard so has taken me sometime to figure which cords to connect and how to use the Hard Drive... there was no instruction booklet included with the Hard Drive and the only instruction booklet available was inside the unit....once I had it installed. But I had to install it in order to read the instructions.....may have been great for someone with computer knowledge, but would have been nice to have received a booklet, it would have taken the guess work out of installation.
Apparently in the...What is included in your packet section on line....an instruction booklet was suppose to have been included....but wasn't.
Still haven't transferred my pictures on the Hard Drive yet. But hopefully it will work.

Epson Stylus Photo R2400 Color Inkjet Printer
Epson Stylus R2400 Photo Printer

I replaced an older Epson Stylus with this R2400 Large Format unit after countless occasions of the inks clogging the print heads. I am happy to say I have not experienced this recurrance even one time with the R2400, so I'm a happy camper.

I use the printer to create bird photo greeting cards so the archival ink is a must. The R2400 supports glossy, matte, luster, fine art or posterboard prints in clear, consice colors. Printing is fast, and the 8-color ink set seems to outlast previous cartridges plus having the advantage of replacing a single color. It is also superior for black and white art prints with its Advanced Black-and-White Photo Mode, and it also allows use of border-free 13" x 44" roll paper.

It's a perfect addition to the digital photo studio.

LaCie 1TB d2 Quadra Hard Disk
I ordered this 1TB hard drive to backup my pictures, music and movies form other hard drives with Carbon Copy Cloner. I like the multiple interface I can daisy chain my 500GB rugged to the FW800 port and works perfectly. I didn't install the backup softwares since they are not compatible with Leopard. The HD turns off automatically when I eject it from Finder which is a good feature but sadly the supplied cables are too short so you won't be able to hide the drive under your desk...

Seagate 10005FPA1E3 1TB FreeAgent Pro External Hard Drive - Windows / Macintosh
I have had nothing but problems with this 1 tb drive which is unusual since I own several smaller ones. This is my second exchange both had different problems the first made a grinding noise when I plugged it in, dead disk The second one worked fine for a while and when I had it filled, the drive turned into a RAW drive and my data was lost. it was also making a clicking sound and freezing my system. I checked to make sure it was not my system, computer etc but all other externals worked fine. (e sata and Firewire)
I do not want to worry about my backups, I'm going to get a better drive and put it into an esata case. You get what you pay for, this is junk.

LaCie 500GB Rugged External Hard Drive-500GB RUGGED TRIPLE EXT USB/FW400/FW800 8MB
I got two of these. One for storage of files and the other to use as a scratch disc for video editing. Works great with MacBook Pro and Final Cut. I highly recommend the Caselogic PHDC-1 Small EVA External Hard Drive Case to go with it. I wasn't sure it would be a good fit but it's like the 2 products were made for each other. They are a perfect combination and I have 2 of each.

The only thing is the drive gets pretty hot sometimes. I don't know if this is part of normal operation but I just make sure not to leave the drive in the Caselogic case when I'm using it. I sit it on top so the air can flow all around it. It seems to help with the temperature.

Data Robotics DR04DD10 Drobo 4 SATA Bay FW800 & USB 2.0 Storage Array Enclosure
OK, lets get started. First of all, the company that makes the Drobo call it the first storage robot. Let's make one thing clear, this is no more a robot than a laptop, printer or coffee machine. There is no mechanized anything with the Drobo. It's an electronic device, that's all. The video ads floating around the drobo website are also somewhat misleading, it is NOT as simple as unpacking, pluging a couple drives in and that's it.

Here my personal experience with a recent model Imac 20", the new firewire drobo and 3 drives (2x500, 1x750)

Inserting a drive into the drobo will erase any and all data contained on it!

Be sure you read the instruction carefully and think through how you want to format and partition the drobo, yes, it does not do this crucial step for you! You can have one big partition or several.

This is done with the mac osx disk utility. Also, you can format the partitions in any of several osx flavors or even fat32. If you are thinking of hooking the drobo up to an

Data Robotics DR04DD10 Drobo 4 SATA Bay FW800 & USB 2.0 Storage Array Enclosure
Normally I don't write reviews for all of the products I buy, but based on the bad reviews that people have given the drobo, I felt I needed to offset some of the unfair & misleading comments.

I have had this drobo for about a month. I have had very little interaction with the drobo itself. That is becouse once it is set up you forget it. That is wonderful for this kind of storage device.

It really is as simple as putting the drives in, install the software, and begin using it. I first saw this at Macworld in January 2008, but held out for the firewire version. I am using on a mixed environment network with no compatibility problems. It is very fast, and very easy. I am using mine for all of my videos streamed to our TVs. IT ABSOLUTELY WORKS WONDERFULLY! It can simultaniously stream mp4 videos to 2 TVs while having data copied to it.... all without any hiccups. That is impressive for a device like this.

For those of you have have read (or are about to read some of the negative reviews

Intel DX48BT2 LGA775 ATX Intel Processor Motherboard (BOXDX48BT2)
I had the same problem of intermittent and unexplained restarts. I read somewhere that OCZ recommends a voltage setting of 1.9 volts. This MoBo comes with a default setting of 1.5
Changed it to 1.9 and the problem went away.

Western Digital My Book Home 1TB External FireWire/USB 2.0/eSATA Hard Drive
I have bought a few months ago a My Book 320 and I thought of getting something bigger this time.
Hooked it up to my iMac intel by firewire, and like his little brother did (though through USB that one) it worked immediately.
Chose it to be my Time Machine back-up drive and...voila' .... and by the way I love the ice-cold light in front, it's cool.
I'm surprised that this little fella has received so many bad reviews.
I was almost going to buy something else... but then I stuck to my previous positive experience with this product line and went for it. Although I bought it at Costco, just to make sure I could return it easily. ;-)
So far so good and gret value for money.
Maybe I am just lucky.
It is clear that if so many rotten apples have been shipped out... WD should get a new quality control manager in place rather quickly!

Maxtor OneTouch 4 Plus 1TB External USB 2.0/FireWire Hard Drive
Pros: Good capacity - you would think a good name beside it
Cons: It died. Support ignored emails upon emails. No assistance.
GARBAGE.
This is my third TB drive. In the past I have been happy with Maxtor (never had issues). My TB drive just stopped working. The partition disappeared. Support ignored (and is still ignoring) my emails.

STAY AWAY!! Better, faster, more responsive drives available for the same price. Don't be fooled by the Maxtor name!!!

Seagate FreeAgent Pro 500GB External USB 2.0/eSATA/FireWire Hard Drive
So, i just purchased this item and i must admit that at first i had no idea what i was doing. I have researched all the different brands and settled with this FreeAgent Pro 500 [FireWire 400, USB 2.0, & eSATA] for my MacBook OS X 10.5 and realized that i didnt need to worry with the installation parts that it askes you to do. i just ran Time Machine and it's working like a charm.

Best part about it, the price for the amount of gigs. Frys Electronics has a sale going on until September 11th, 2008 for the FreeAgent Pro 500 [FireWire 400, USB 2.0, & eSATA] for 89.99. Originally 149.99. can't be that. ^-^

Western Digital My Passport Studio 320GB External USB 2.0/FireWire 400 Portable Hard Drive
This is an excellent drive that does exactly what it's supposed to do. I suppose that the cable is very short but it's still very usable. Also the reviewer who had complaints about the capacity gauge is just nitpicking. It is very clear how much space you have on your drive and which side is the "top" side. I love it and it's at a great price now.

Data Robotics DR04DD10 Drobo 4 SATA Bay FW800 & USB 2.0 Storage Array Enclosure
I love this product! It is amazingly easy to use, and I am secure in the knowledge that all my data is protected and being backed up. I also love that if I run out of space, I can just swap out a smaller drive for a bigger one; no need to buy expensive space now, I can just wait until the prices come down. It is important to do your research before you make this purchase though. I chose this Drobo over the original because of the fact that it was supposedly much quieter (it is definitely quiet enough for me) and it has FireWire, which is much faster than USB 2.0. Also, Drobo does function like RAID - you only get about 3/5 of the space you put into the Drobo because the rest is used for backup. If you do your research and you still like the idea of a Drobo, you won't regret the purchase!

Western Digital My Book Studio 1TB External USB 2.0/FireWire/eSATA Hard Drive
This drive has worked great with my MacBook Pro. Other users have complained about failing drives, but WD gives a 5-year warranty on this unit, so I don't see how you can go wrong. Five years is amazing for a hard drive. In my experience as computer technician, I've seen very few WD hard drive failures. They seem to be very reliable units. Most of my customers' HDD failures have been related to Maxtor drives.

I've been using this drive with Leopard for six months and have had no problems.

I have only two complaints about this drive:
1. It takes a long time to mount after I connect it via FireWire 800. Sometimes up to ten seconds before the icons show up on the desktop.

2. The FireWire 800 connection is very sensitive. A slight bump to the computer, the cable, or sometimes even the desk will often cause the drive to disconnect.

Antec Nine Hundred Gaming Case - Black
I have built several computers and it seems that no matter how large a case I get there is not enough room. This cases finally changed all of that.

First of all, it mounts the power supply at the bottom of the case, with plenty of room at the bottom for cable management. I suppose the purist would say this is a problem because the fan on the power supply would be more likely to suck in pet fur and the like from the ground. However, I found it VERY helpful.

Second, the drives come out the FRONT. This means you do not have to pull out drive cages and the like to work on a single drive. It also means you do not need to pull cards off your motherboard just to add or remove a drive. Previous cases have literally forced me to remove all of the components from my motherboard just to perform drive maintenance.

The room inside the case is plenty. You have the flexibility for cable management, as well as adding the large new video cards without cramping other components.

Of course, this

Western Digital My Book Home 500GB External USB 2.0/FireWire/eSATA Hard Drive
For the price and two weeks usage, this appears to be a good product so far.
Many bad reviews on performance and early fail rate but many similar products rated the same.
With luck, the unit should last for years.
Only 3 stars for installation because installation was somewhat challenging for a Macintosh user such as myself.
The unit comes pre-configured for Windows and the lack of Macintosh-specific documentation didn't help.
However, the Western Digital website offered clear direction and with a few clicks, the unit was working like a charm.
