Monster HTS 1000 MKIII PowerCenter with Clean Power Stage 2 (8 AC outlet, 2 coax, phone & network)
I just sent my protector back for a no hassle, no cost replacement after a power surge took it out. I was watching TV on a mostly benign night when my system turned off. I ended up calling the Monster tech service because I couldn't understand what happened. After a short check list, I was asked to return my unit for replacement. I couldn't believe that such a pedestrian event could pose such a threat to my components. I immediately called my friends to tell them how good my protector worked, especially since most think me psychotic for spending so much money on something that I'll never need. Nothing, absolutely nothing takes the place of quality....Thanks Monster.

HP SimpleSave 1 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive HPBAAD0010HBK-NHSN (Gloss Black)

Just plug it in WIndows loads a driver, and it is ready to go without using any software. It is silent. No problems with very large files or file names. I always do full manual backups of whole files and folders using a file transfer program, NOT backup software So I did not use the included software disk. My Files are fine!
It uses the included External Power Supply. It does not run off of the usb power alone, as some smaller external drives do, but no problem to plug in the included adapter. The adapter is similar to anything else, like cell phone chargers, etc. The drive capacity is huge. It is so large I am able to backup the data from two or three computers, and folks , that includes lots of recorded TV and iTunes music. The design is simple and elegant. A smart black tower with only the HP logo and an intense modern blue led when the drive is accessed. It stands upright but is not too lightweight to cause worry. I am very happy with this drive and would not hesitate to get a second

LG GP08LU11 8x DVD RW Drive with LightScribe - Double-layer - DVD-RAM/ R/ RW - 8x 8x 8x (DVD) - 24x 16x 24x (CD) - USB - External

I did my research before buying this burner. I read the other reviews and finally came to a decision in buying this. First like the other review says DO NOT install the NERO included with this product, it has some ill-sided effects on your computer and isn't worth it. Lightscribe has there own programs which you can download for FREE, head to lightscribe.com and go to the download section and have at it. The installation was as easy as connecting the USB cable to your computer and it is recognized instantly, I was burning a DVD with in 2 minutes of connecting to my laptop. The installation was super fast, even if you have no computer knowledge you will be able to operate this burner. Another great feature is the power cord, it runs off your computer through the USB so you do not have to plug it into the wall, awesome if portability is something you are looking for. Included is two cords for power and transfer of data, the instructions say you can use one, but both were required, so make

Seagate 2.0 TB USB 2.0 External Desktop Hard Drive ST320005EXA101-RK (Black)

Bought it to use with my WD TV HD Media Player, so the main reason I went with this and not WD My Book, is because this one fits into the shelves. No problems so far, been using it for 4-5 months, just dreaded clicking noise, which drives me nuts - i'm afraid it will give up one day.

Monster HDP 1800 High Definition PowerCenter 8 Outlets, Stage 2 v2.1, T2 Protection (MP HDP 1800)

This power center works very well. I have my PS3, plasma TV, Wii, Blu-ray player, 130W per channel Onkyo reciever, cable box, and remote charger station all plugged into it. I have not had any problems with any of them working improperly. I also have the coaxial cable for the cable going into it. This works flawlessly also. The voltage meter lets you know what voltage is being output from your wall outlet. I didn't know the voltage varied so much during use until I bought this power center.

The only bad thing I have to add is that the power center is hard to get to power back on after it has been tripped by something. I guess if it has too much of a power drain or a surge from the power grid it shuts down. When this happens, I have to unplug it from the wall sometimes to get it to restart instead of pushing the power button on the front of the unit. This can be annoying sometimes. For the money though, I think it is worth it. I would recommend this item to anyone who doesn't want

Iomega 500 GB eSATA DVR Expander External Hard Drive - Silver (34172)

I highly recommend you do further research on these drives before even thinking about buying one.

My drive crashed with a total loss of data after only 13 months of very light use.

Be aware that some (if not all) Iomega external hard drives contain the Seagate Barracuda drive 7200.11 (or various versions of it). These drives have a well known and well documented problem that Seagate has acknowledged and is addressing by offering a replacement (or fix) and free data recovery - even out of warranty products are being addressed.

HOWEVER, because Iomega only makes the box that contain a Seagate drive, any recourse over the failure of these drives is almost impossible – you cant talk to Seagate – you have to talk to Iomega.

Iomega has NO real knowledge of the hardware because they DO NOT manufacture the drive inside the box (I tried contacting Iomega and Seagate and was unable to get a response from either of them that was worthy of noting here

Great for transferring ringtones off the internet to cell phones. Most cell phone companies offer monthy charges--- I am saving almost $ 40.00 each month on /5 cell phones. This is great savings considering the economic stress of today.

I was able to set up the hard drive in a relatively short time. The USB cord supplied with the unit is too short and it would be nice if some type of holder was supplied. Since setting up, I've had absolutely no problems. I use it for a back up device.

Verbatim CL?N 320 GB USB 2.0 Portable External Hard Drive (Black Matte Finish)

Hard drives are pretty much a commodity item for computing nowadays -- and this is really no exception. In the product I received, it's simply a small plastic enclosure around a Samsung 5400RPM SATA 2.5" drive. (Your operating system should be able to tell you the brand of hard drive inside, Verbatim doesn't produce hard drives.) Not a bad deal for the price and the speeds are as expected using a USB2.0 connection (copied 52GB for a backup in about 45 minutes on my Mac using Time Machine on Snow Leopard.) You may be able to pick a quality 2.5" SATA drive and an enclosure for less or the same amount of money if you're really picky on the drives you use. This drive serves the bill as a backup hard drive for me -- I have no other particular plans for it. I can't comment on the Nero software inside since I'm a Mac user (and it's not necessary with Time Machine.) The build quality seems sufficient (but it is all just plastic.) Not sure I believe the claim that it's "15% smaller than the average

Western Digital My Book Essential 1 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive WDBAAF0010HBK-NESN

Had this drive several months now and it performs great. I knew before I purchased it that it was known to be a little slow on writing data, but I'll gladly take that disadvantage knowing the solid rep of WD to be a long lasting drive. Great product otherwise and for a good price.

Nikon SB-600 Speedlight Flash for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras

I was looking for something above the grade of a plain, simple, ordinary flash for our Nikon D-80. I found this product although very simple and automatic in use out of the box, it has features that make it possible to use in more advanced settings/situations. Works seemlessly with our Nikon and with great results. To me it was a big jump from the basic model with regard to cost than I was looking to spend but all and all happy with the outcome.

PNY 2GB Optima Pro Attache USB 2.0 Flash Drive

I needed a very small form factor USB flash drive to fit insdie a Dell PowerEdge R610 for running VMWare ESX. The PNY device was skinny enough to plug into the internal USB port and is now used as the host operating system for all my virtual machines on that box.

I have had no problems with the speed and usability of this device.

Western Digital My Book Studio II - 2 TB (2 x 1 TB) USB 2.0/FireWire 400/FireWire 800/eSATA Desktop External Hard Drive WDH2Q20000N

The Good - Compared to the hard drive's I've purchased in the past, I would highly recommend this one. Besides the amount of additional space it provides, it expeditiously serves its purpose.

The Bad - If you're tech saavy, the initial setup is a piece of cake. DO NOT LOSE THE INSTALLATION DISK!!! Unlike my Seagate drives (simple plug and play) if you hot swap between computers, you'll need the disk to install the drivers and other nonsense that makes it run smooth.

The Ugly - If you have no clue what RAID is, find a smaller hard drive.

i dont know why so many people were complaing about court being too short - that is one good feature!!who wants to have cables piled up on or under the table anyway?and its not short at all, its like 12 i nches, perfect for laptop.Transfer speed on it is good as well, very easy to install and use - works as any other flash drive, just copy and paste, exactly what i like about it. well, but i'm very simple user - i needed it only for my pcts, music and some files,so if you're looking just to storage your memories, i'd definately recommend this one.

APC Back-UPS ES 8 Outlet 550VA 120V
Every computer,TV, Set top box and DVD is protected in my and family's has an APC UPS and those devices have yet to fail over the many years I have been buying APC. However I had had many different models and over the years I am seeing more and more early failures (in years until this time). I bought two BE550Gs to replace two aging APC units I had. One lasted 3 days and when it failed it created a very bad situation and at this point I am not sure that the Apple iMac that was connected (which happens to be out of warranty) was not damaged. The APC in the battery backup side turned the power on and off every second to the iMac and this likely was going on for hours before we came home to discover it. I had already ditched the box so I could not return it to BB, so a called APC who were great and immediately shipped a replacement which I should have in a few days. The second one I gave to a relative and has not yet been used but my confidence level is low based on all the recent APC failures

Western Digital My Passport Essential SE 750GB Portable Hard Drive

I own it for two weeks now, and so far it is the best western digital drive I ever owned. I have 4 ealier 500GB drives, and I was happy with them. and as soon as I heard about this 1TB drive, I planned to buy it immediately, but DID NOT. Why? because of those bad reviews written by others. They were very convencing. But somehow I have 20+ years believe in WD products quality so I bought it and below are my reply to the raised concerns: 1- USB connecter 2.0: yes it is a new interface, but believe me, I hardly can unplug it from the HDD! contradict what people are saying! it is very tightly secure in the drive without any loose problems! may be they have change it recently! but I am very happy with the connection 2- WD software: Western digital website already published a firmware update to remove (hide) their annoying CD partition for their new software. so basicly this problem is history. I am using this drive in both windows 7 and Mac Book Pro, and it is working like magic in both
