Seagate 750GB USB 2.0 External Hard Drive - STM307504OTA3E5-RK-750GB MAXTOR ONE TOUCH IV PLUS EXT USB 2.0 7200 RPM 16MB 3.5
I bought 2 of these to backup some OTR programs I downloaded. They have performed very well. The option to backup my entire hard drive or sync it with the Seagate is also very nice. I would reccommend these to anyone with a lot of data to protect.

Acomdata 1000USE-72 1TB USB and eSATA PureDrive External Hard Drive
I have been using external drives for years and I have had drives fail from all the big names. I am sure this one will fail eventually too. I no longer expect a hard drive to last forever. Having such expectations will only bring you anguish when the drive gives up the ghost and you lose precious data. No matter the brand of hard drive, you *must* back up your data. AcomData drives are quiet, small, fast, simple (no bells and whistles), inexpensive and solidly built. I have had my AcomData 1 TB drive for about 6 months. This drive has more than exceeded my expectations and I will most certainly be buying more.

Iomega Prestige 1TB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive
I needed some more room and protection for my pictures. I have downloaded all of mine, my wifes, all my children (I have 6 )and the rest of my family's pictures on my hard drive and have been afraid of something happening to the computer and loosing everything. It was a simple to transfer all the pictures on to the Iomega drive and now I can relax. It cleaned up about half of my hard drive and my computer seems to run faster also. Thanks Ed French Quinlan TX

Iomega 34342 320GB Prestige Portable Hard Drive
The drive that is in mine is the seagate sata 320gb ST9320320AS 2.5inch notebook drive. The case is nice and small, drive light is in the rear. I like that the case is made out of aluminum but Disappointed that the front and rear of the drive is plastic. Going by the pictures it looked like the entire case was aluminum but it is not. Thought it had the same construction as it's larger 3.5inch big brother. The light on the rear of the drive while is use bleeds through the plastic so I can tell that the material in the rear is not very thick. I'm sure that the drive will workout fine due to the internals being seagate but might have bought the WD model if I have known that there was plastic in the construction of the drive case.

Seagate FreeAgent Go Dock and Case for Seagate FreeAgent Go 2.5" Hard Drives - White
This dock is not needed to use the Seagate FreeAgent Go portable hard drive, but it sure makes a desk look less cluttered. I've got one for my computer and another connected to my SlingCatcher. Moving the hard drive between docks is easy and I I like how it only takes one hand to insert or remove the hard drive from the dock. I would consider the dock a luxury item.

Iomega Prestige 1TB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive
As the past reviewer stated I was worried about buying another iomega product from suffering the "click" of death years ago from there zip drives. I have had tons of problems with Western Digital externals. They always seem to fail after like 6months. Hopefully this isn't the case with the iomega. I have owned this one for about 1 month have 300gb of HD movies on it. Works like a champ. I would recommend this product looking for 1 TB and small good looking well made hard drive; the drive is all metal accept the stand and the vents on either side.

Acomdata 1000USE-72 1TB USB and eSATA PureDrive External Hard Drive
I own a MacBook and needed an external backup. The AcomData 1 TB 3.5 inch drive was just the thing. Works without a hitch using TimeMachine, the Mac backup program, looks great and the small size of the external drive's enclosure unclutters my desk, while still providing a lot of storage. I've had the drive about a month and use it not only every day, but every hour! A very nice addition to complete my computer needs and at an even nicer price.

Iomega Prestige 1TB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive
I stopped using Iomega products several years ago (remember the infamous "click of death" infesting Iomega Zip drives?) But after reading the Amazon reviews, I decided to get the Iomega 1TB drive.

It is about half the size of my old 350 MB Maxtor hard drives, costs half as much, and has three times the storage capacity! I plugged it in and Windows XP had it up and running in seconds, no fuss.

As a test, I transferred two gigs of photos (I'm a photojournalist) and it backed up two gigs in two minutes. It is almost perfectly silent.

I didn't bother downloading the free Retrospect Backup software; I always back up manually as part of my business routine.

If I ever have a problem with this drive, I'll update this review. Otherwise, I rate it as a perfect high-capacity drive, period.

LaCie 301315U 1TB Hard Disk, Design by Neil Poulton - Windows / Macintosh
I bought one because of the low price/GB, and LaCie's reputation for reliability. I'm ordering 1 or 2 more for long term storage needs. Yes, its design is clean, but functionality is the key. The USB and sSATA ports are versatility extras. Free ground shipping was a plus.

Seagate FreeAgent Desk 1TB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive
I have been a PC nut since the Apple II and original IBM PC, and backup technology is just now getting good for us small office and home users. I have tried tape backup units, DVDs, and other classic solutions, never with real confidence that my data was stored safely. This 1TB HDD from Seagate really is a superb backup unit. On the competent advice of my IT professional, I bought this unit to back up my home office and digital photograph library.

I bought two of the earlier (black finish) versions of this unit, and they too are very nice, and the installation is identical and as far as I can tell, so is the backup software.

The unit is very nicely built. It has a nice silver finish, and is designed to either mount horizontally or vertically, so most users will have no difficulty finding a place on even the busiest desktop for this compact unit. The nice finish combined with the attractive LED lighting make this an appropriate addition to any desktop. Minor quibble: could they not

Belkin 7 Port USB 2.0 Hub-To-Go-2-N-1 7PORT USB 2.0 HUB PERP
Purchased as gift, looks & works fine, and having the travel option is a big plus.
I know the value was great, as the prices I cheked, ranged aprx. $15-$20 more.
Because it's a 2 part unit (read desc), you really get your money's worth & with a good brand name,
too.A bit larger than expected, but people, stock up on this one, makes a great gift!!!

SimpleDrive 1TB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive (designed by Pininfarina)
Wow, this thing really got the job done. It was easy to install, and was very user-friendly. I take this thing to school with me everyday. I even keep it under my pillow when I sleep at night. Sleeping next to this much memory has been the best sleep of my life!!!!

Iomega Prestige 1TB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive
I plugged it into the USB port on my laptop and it was ready to go. My primary use is to consolidate and backup data from multiple computers and this has plenty of room for music and photos.

This is an excellent value considering I just paid $75 for a 16gig scan disk. It is well built and doesn't have a very large desktop footprint.

This drive is a little to large to lug around every day so I wouldn't consider it portable, but other drives fill that role.

LaCie Big Disk 1.5TB External Hard Drive - 301200U-1.5TB LACIE BIG DISK EXTREM+ EXT USB/FW400/FW800 7200 RPM
Received one unit. Hooked it up and noticed "auto" on/off was not working properly. Looking at the box it came in, I noticed a pink "defect" sticker on the packaging. Amazon promptly sent me another unit. When I opened it a screw or something was rolling around inside the unit. I contacted and started a case number with LaCie. I was hoping to get a brand new unit from LaCie, especially since these units didn't pass any type of quality control before shipping to Amazon, but they suggested I get warranty repair....for a brand new unit!

I sent the second unit back also. Amazon made the process easy including sending me the prepaid UPS shipping labels. In the market for a new external hard drive.

Iomega 250GB eGo USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive - Cherry Red
Have you ever had that feeling when you open up a very high quality product that you have complete confidence in it and you made a good decision getting it?
Well, this one is just the opposite. As soon as I opened the box and saw that the included USB cable would not work, I had a sinking feeling about the drive.
I've got a Mac laptop with a USB port on each side. The distance between the included drive is about 5 inches. No way it is going to work. Iomega should know better and send a cable that reaches both ports. Seagate includes such a cable. Minus 2 stars.
I'd suggest buying a better brand.
I borrowed a cable to see if the drive would fire up. It did, but it only has 298 GB of space. The box said 320 GB. Losing over 20 GB is a significant loss. Minus one more star.
I'd suggest buying from a more reliable company.

pureDrive 500GB External USB 2.0/eSATA Hard Drive
for those of you who don't know this, an eSATA drive can be used to multiply the recording space on your DVR. Don't know if works on YOUR system, but I have TWC (NYC) - the 8300HDC and it has a SATA input. All you do is connect the cable to it, then the hard drive (everything off) - turn on THE HARD DRIVE FIRST, then the cable box. It will ask you if you want to format the hard drive, you choose yes, and then voila - you'll be able to record as much as 5 times as before (on the 500gig - you can get a bigger hard drive). Since nothing comes for free, here's the downside: you CAN'T turn off the drive before turning off the cable box - and if you have schedule recordings, you have to leave the hard drive on. I got a "green hard drive" that uses 40% less energy (or so they claim) this way I leave it on the whole time. But I was tired of deleting stuff - or worst, choosing to record the non-HD version of my favorite shows to "save room". Now I don't need to do that anymore. A great buy.

Seagate 10005FPA1E3 1TB FreeAgent Pro External Hard Drive - Windows / Macintosh
This is an attractive drive that works great....that is until it gets knocked over. It is easily knocked over based on its design, and they dont tell you in the literature that your data will then be unrecoverable! Their customer service is also unreliable in their answers. So you'll get a new seagate if still under warranty, but your data is toast. We even sent to a super expensive (estimate of $3,000) data recovery place and they couldnt even get it back for us. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND BUY TWO 80GB external hard drives and make two backups of your data and keep in separate places- learn from our mistake!
