I bought the Drobo before buying the Droboshare: What a huge disappointment! The Drobo works fine when attached to your computer but plug in the Droboshare and all of a sudden everything slows down. Had I known then what I know now I wouldn’t have bothered! A complete waste of money on the Droboshare. Everything else seems fine.

Yeah, not sure I'd trust an HP hard drive over the brands known for making hard drives.

Mine also broke losing me years of data and work. I didnt't drop it and hadn't noticed any overheating, it was only the 160 Gb and it went down after about 18 months. I couldn't recover the data using file recovery software or manange to fix the booting of the drive. I managed to to reformat the boot sector but still no files could be found and the drive was hanging etc.. basically, don't do it, just fit a drive that runs from your Pc supply, they are more reliable, use USB sticks for transfers. Funny that I waited 2 years before buying this because I knew how all of my friends external drives had broken, but was eventually convinced that the manufacturer's must have overcome the reliability problems. Searching anywhere on the net will reveal that these drives are still a waste of money and lead to long term dissapointment.
