Everio/hd Share Station Portable DVD Burner

I purchased the JVC Everio camcorder on QVC and there was no mention that you needed any other equipment to burn to DVD. I tried for HOURS to read every word in the manual to get the videos onto a DVD. IMPOSSIBLE!!! After giving the camera and instructions to my "computer geek", 28 yr old nephew, who makes computers, he said I needed to get this item if I wanted to get the video off of the camera. I was pretty upset at the cost. That much money to make a DVD of my daughters wedding to send to relatives! Shame on JVC for this. But I went ahead and purchased the burner because I was forced to. It was so easy, that within a few minutes, the DVD was burned and I made 10 copies to send out. I have made several other video since then and find it to be easy and fast. I can't say it is worth the price but you must have this if you ever want to see your videos outside of the camcorder.

I can't say anything about the functionality of this unit. When I got mine I inserted a 16GB memory stick into the first slot marked "Memory Stick". Unfortunately I didn't notice the second one marked "Memory Stick" and found out, too late, that once inserted in the wrong slot my memory stick was irretrievable. Having both slots marked "Memory Stick" is poor engineering. Sony is replacing the unit but they are not returning the memory stick. They say they do not even repair these units in the USA and must send them back to Japan. I inquired about them providing me with a replacement stick and was told that it was my mistake and they will not do anything to make good on the lost memory stick. A quick price search will show that the best price you can get a 16 GB memory stick of this kind is approximately $70.00. Needless to say I'm soured on Sony and this product in particular. Be very careful about inserting the stick in the wrong slot.

I have owned this dvd recorder for several weeks now. I also have the Everio HD camcorder. The dvd recorder is very easy to use to make dvd's directly from the camcorder. What I have discovered is that the Everio DVD recorder only records to the -R format. Unfortunately, my home dvd player (a brand new Panasonic combo unit) only reads the +R format. Bummer! I have not checked around to see if other dvd players can read both formats or not. Of course you can play back -R dvd's using the Everio burner and camcorder. If you do not need to make dvd's to watch on your tv system, I would recommend this dvd burner.

JVC CU-VD40 Share Station DVD Burner for HD Everio Camcorders

I bought one of these and had the problem where it would not read the disc, so I returned it and got another one. This one had the same exact problem. I recommend that you do not buy this product. JVC's customer support wanted me to pay to ship this to them so they could take a look at it. I returned the second one and will not buy a JVC share station again.

I got it but I recommend you don't try it! The quality of DVD it writes to you is glassy and it took 1Hour to write 2 DVD for me. You Can`t make copies of the DVD`s you burn with it!!!. You can not review DVD and flash memory on it and have to connect it to external screen. It works so slowly such as a turtle! I extremely recommend you to don't buy it instead of other great Sony products.

I bought the VRDMC10 to convert our family VHS collection to DVD. I have only used it for this purpose so my review is limited to this application. With that in mind I feel that the unit worked flawlessly. It was true "plug-and-play" simplicity and performed as advertised. I also own a Sony HDR-SR11 HD Camcorder, and plan to burn some AVCHD DVDs from the camera on our next vacation. One plus is that we do not own a Blu-ray player and this unit also serves as an AVCHD disk player. The controls and menu are easy to use, and the unit ran unattended for many consecutive hours without fail. I would recommend this to anyone with a library of old VHS media they would like to convert to DVD.

I was tired of wrestling with the computer and confusing software for photo card backups so I invested in this DVD stand-alone recorder. It is an outstanding and simple to use product that I've also used to burn copies of my Hi8 video camera footage and numerous memory cards. No complaints other than I wish I would have waited a few more weeks for the price reductions on this new product.

Panasonic VW-BN1 AVCHD Archive and Playback DVD Burner for SD5, SD9 & HS9 Camcorders

Worked as advertised. Very small and portable and goes with me in the camera bag in case I need to burn a video on the fly. I am very impressed with the quality of video, I'm very excited that I now can watch HD home video on my Blu-ray player. The only negative that I have is that it is not fast so be ready to wait a little while for the DVD to burn.

This portable DVD burner is so easy I was able set it up in 5 mins attach it to my video recorder and burn my sons play in less than 30 mins. Then removed the DVD and put it in my DVD player and watched his play. EXCELLANT product and sooo easy. IN ADDITION, YES it does come with a USB 2.0 cable attached to the burner. I read a few reviews that said the burner did not come with a USB cable and you need to purchase one (which I did) but there was one attached to the burner. I recommend this product to any one who likes ease to their life.

The AVCHD format in most hard drive camcorders is a pain in the butt. I purchased this as a simple way to dump all my footage to DVD so I could clear out the camera. I figured someday, someone would come up with some outstanding software to work with the AVCHD format.

This machine is probably pretty good but I have yet to complete a download. It takes 3-4 DVDs to download a fairly full camcorder and I continually get a failure message at the end of the last disk.

Fortunately each clip on the camera comes as a separate AVCHD file on the disks so I am not sure how the failure at the end is hurting me yet. Cannot find anything or anyone on the web that talks of my problem.

Overall not impressed with the HD cameras - the AVCHD format is only recently editable by some of the more common video software.

Will keep trying but I would no rush out to buy this one (as I did) with the great hopes. I am going back to my tape camcorder for a while longer.

My hard-drive crashed on a 1 1/2 year old Gateway laptop. No warranty of course after 1 year. So I purchased a Dell Insperion desktop computer after much research on the internet. After waiting 10 days to receive it, including loss of income from home office, I received only the computer, no monitor. So I had to wait until the monitor arrived to setup the computer. Then, the keyboard didn't work so I had to drive 80 miles into town to buy a new keyboard. After 10 frustrating days, I was finally able to setup the computer and return to working again.

I called Dell to inform them of the defective keyboard and loss of time and money due to this error. Of course, the Customer Service Department was located in INDIA!!!! I had to repeat the same Order number, Customer Number, name, etc. to 5 different people before I was told that they would do NOTHING about the defective keyboard. I was really angry by that time and was finally transferred to a higher department Manager. I was ultimately

Sabrent EC-525K USB 2.0 5.25-Inch Aluminum 5.25-Inch IDE Hard Drive Enclosure for CD-ROM/CD-R/CD-RW/DVD-ROM/DVD+RW/DVD-RE

I stuck my neck out a little when I ordered the Sabrent enclosure. Some of the user reviews fussed about a loud fan or problems with screws, etc. After reading those, when I opened the package from Amazon I was pleasantly surprised to find a nice looking unit with a little heft to it and case that looked well made.

I slipped in a good Plextor DVD burner that I had salvaged from a computer I had just scrapped, screwed the face plate on the enclosure and plugged in two cables and the power adapter and hooked it up to a USB port on my Asus eeePC netbook.

It immediately read a CD and then played a DVD movie without any problems and with no further tinkering and without needing the tiny "user manual" leaflet that came in the package. Drivers included on a mini-CD are for Windows 98SE and are not needed with Windows 2000/ME/XP.

Fan noise? In the unit I received it was virtually non-existent. Since the unit cost just enough to qualify for Amazon's Super Saver shipping, I paid no shipping

I actually have an older Dell Inspiron E521, but I've been pretty happy with mine. I've added extra RAM without any difficuly and have not had any hardware failures. The only draw backs I've experienced is that the antivirus that comes with it is very in effective (in my opinion), so I download the free AVG and it's been fine. Technical support is outsourced, but they still do a pretty good job. It's only free for the first year though, then I think it's about $40.00 a pop. i made a copy of 6 different segments that equaled about 55 mins, it took less than 10 mins until i was watching the dvd on my player. i got tdk dvd-r but the sony seem to work as well. only use the -r or -rw from tdk, sony jvc or vebatim. this is kinda pricey at 200 bucks but i think it will pay for itself in a year or two. i am glad i made this purchase and waited until i got 12% off before i got it so it was only about 186 with tax.

Mine was a complete piece of junk. I bought it in April 2008 from Dell specifically because they were still offering Windows XP. However, the system's motherboard failed after 6 months. Dell sent a replacement computer, but the new system was Vista OS. I'm still trying to get it sorted out. I'll never order from Dell again.

Inspiron 530 runs fine sometimes, other times it just reboots in the middle of working. Memory configuration not showing up right in Windows but memory test are all okay. Dell has refused to honor their warranty and will not send a replacement. I've spent over 20+ hours re-installing Windows and all my applications, music, photos, etc - per their tech support's request - and still it crashes. Then they told me that should remove the memory cards each and every time the system reboots - in order to release the static.

In order to connect to a PC, you need to buy a 'special usb cable' - sold separately.

This cable is ONLY sold by JVC, and it's $24 + $7 for shipping!!

Panasonic VW-BN1 AVCHD Archive and Playback DVD Burner for SD5, SD9 & HS9 Camcorders
+ 0 likes
I am an overseas customer of Amazon living in Istanbul-Turkey. During our last visit of USA this September, I bought an HS9 camera together with this burner. (since it's a DC device, European 220V 50Hz has no negative effect on) I am writing this review in order to avoid any misunderstanding because, AVCHD seems to be an intermediate standard of HD recording until the real BluRay camcorders will be available at this compact size, that's why, it is better to have the answers of two questions : 1- Will the existing or our futur purchase BluRay DVD player support this standard or there won't be any chance to provide a BluRay DVD player other than Panasonic ? 2- If the choice of Panasonic will be compulsory , will it match with the existing HD LCD TV (Philips for ex.)? If any of these answers is negative, than we should think twice before deciding recorders in AVCHD standard.

This is an awesome product. I purchased the JVC Everio camcorder and the software to download it to a DVD from the computer came with it. However, not being very computer savy, I struggled and struggled with it. I finally talked my husband into purchasing the DVD burner and within 15 minutes I had the DVD made of our son's Army basic training graduation. Well worth it! I wish I would have purchased it with the camera as it would have saved two days of frustration. It's as simple as connecting the camera to the burner and selecting what to burn and pushing the start button! I highly recommend it.
