I bought this and wondered if this was going to be easy to use. Diets are not easy and lets face it...unless exercising is your hobby...exercising pretty much $uck$!! LOL I had to get something that motivated me! I am pretty much 100 lbs. overweight, short, I'm 38 years old and this "game" is perfect for those that are overweight. And it IS easy to USE!
I AGREE with one of the last opinions made by someone that if you are mostly fit and have just a bit of flab to lose, this isn't for you and that Nintendo SHOULD come up with "My Toning Coach"! GREAT IDEA (Im sure if people get thru this coaching...they would WANT to explore the next step...no?)
I like how it compares things to how far you walked (and believe me...walking is my only option of exercise right now...). I've been walking with the pedometer now for less than a week and already I've walked the distance of "up and down Mt. Everest"...WOW! ME? Who knew?

Excellent game! If you're reading this then I am sure you've heard they put levels of difficulty in this game. It makes a world of difference to the gameplay and frustration level.
Additionally they've improved the tools as well (you don't have to draw circles to magnify) and this DS touch version is a bit more forgiving than the first one. The graphics are better (which would be expected anyway since its 2008 now). The colors are also easier on the eyes than the first one.
The first one I found an exercise in frustration (to say the least!). It was extremely unforgiving of tiny imperfections. Some may like that. I don't. I'm more of a casual gamer who plays video games for pure enjoyment and not for competition or to "beat" a game or what have you.
Had I not played the first one after I got this one I would have wondered what all the original reviews were about--since people complained that the game was so hard. This one is no cake walk (even on easy level!) but the touch screen responds

The game is ok. I have been doing it for a week, but I honestly don't think it will help loose weight. The food tracking is really sketchy. It doesn't even have all the food choices so I have to kind of guess at what's there.
The quiz games are just to easy. I don't like the pedometer at all. It is to bulky and it always falls off. Thankfully the game always the steps to be entered without it, but it only lets you put in an estimate. I have been using my own pedometer.

The Little stick figure as mentioned in other reviews is absolutely adorable! it was fun to get started with that cute lil thing. I rated this game 4 stars because there are somethings i think need to be improved, Overall the pros of this game far out weigh the cons. The Pros of this game is its fun, its easy to follow, it doesn't make you feel overwhelmed with the amount of steps you have to take. The challenges are small and simple but overall they make a big difference. The Pedometer that came with the game is pretty accurate and easy to wear. It's a breeze to upload your steps into your Nintendo DS. It really threw me off to see it logged down how much i ate (the choices i made) and how much exercise i get in a day. This game is VERY good for people trying to get healthier, especially if you're currently sedentary.
The first thing it asked me to do was drink a glass of water. The little stick figure was hilarious to watch until I drank the water.
The second activity it had me do was walk 500 steps using the pedometer that comes with the game. It took 5 minutes.
The first food related task I had to do was put the salt shaker into the cabinet.

I agree with the other person's review. This game is fun and cute, but I feel that it would be more beneficial to someone who is clinically overweight. If you are in the healthy weight range, this game might not be for you.

Arkanoid is a game that is probably familiar to almost anyone. The entry for the DS is an excellent entry in this long running series of games that have appeared on almost every console imaginable. The concept is simple; move your paddle or vaus as it's called (which is actually a spaceship) back and forth along the bottom of your screen while hitting a ball to destroy all blocks that are on the top screen. It sounds simple and it is...in the beginning. As you progress through the different stages you find some that are amazingly simple and others that take you several run throughs to complete. The basic clear game consists of 28 stages each with 5 levels for a total of 140 levels altogether. If the game had just included this mode it would still have made me happy. However, there is another mode called Quest Mode which gives you certain goals to accomplish. There is a different goal for every level. Oh, and you have to clear the level before you can unlock it's respective level in Quest

I just bought this product today and I had some expectations. I will say that the little stick figure they use to coach me through is pretty darn cute. Especially when she mumbles (like a better version of a sim character). However I was not happy when I entered my weight and it figured that I was in a healthy BMI range, therefore telling me I only need to work on maintaining my current state of flab.
I am not writing this because I am trying to be anorexic or unhealthy. But I know for a fact that there are areas that I would like to tone and lose inches from. I think the weight loss coach would be more effective if it asked you how much you wanted to lose and then based its program around that. As it is now, it'll probably only recommend exercises and food intake that'll keep me where I'm at.
Pay attention Nintendo! My Weightloss Coach needs a part 2 with improvements!

When I first heard about this game, I was excited for an interactive visual novel on the DS. I was even more pumped when I saw it involved a detective. I think everybody has had that secret fantasy of uncovering a case-- trench coat and all. Unfortunately, Jake Hunter: Detective Chronicles doesn't provide you much satisfaction in living out the detective dream.
It's a shame, too, because the game seemed to have so much potential. After all, the gist of the game is pressing witnesses, finding clues, exploring leads, and solving crimes. And to top it off, it allows players to take on the role of Jake Hunter, a Marlboro smoking, strong willed, quick witted detective, who deep down has a soft side. Wait, did that sound familiar? That's probably because it's stereotypical detective traits. That should have been my first clue that there was nothing "novel" about this interactive visual novel.
Not just Hunter, but all of the characters are bland. Even Hunter's assistant, Yulia,

I have heard of bugged games in the past, but that only effected the performace of the game itself. This game is another story, not only was my copy made unplayable by its buggs/glicthes or whatever you call them it also ruined my DS. Before I had this game my DS never had a problem for the 2 years I've owned it. Then while playing this game it spontaneouly shut down and would not turn back on for hours. After thinking my DS was done for I gave it one more shot and I was relieved that it was working again, HOWEVER, it now shuts down spontaneously after only a few minutes regardless of the game being played, making it unusable.
I actually played the game for awhile before my DS shut down unexpectently for the first time. my only warning was the game feezing on level 2 of the first chapter. I continued to play because as gamers know freezing happens with many games and is normally not serious, just a minor annoyance that simply requires a restart and everything is fine.

I kept waiting for someone to go first but looks like I'll be first...
First of all, Arkanoid plays just fine with a stylus. I'm sure it's better with a paddle like the original but since the game didn't come with one, the stylus works good.
I enjoyed playing it with the stylus. There is an option of easy, normal, or hard. I chose normal hoping it's like the original. You also can choose your backgrounds and the style of the vaus I think, number of barriers (how many lives you get per round) and the music.
Now for comparing the original to this one: The backgrounds are completely different. The blocks are pretty much the same but much much less blocks. The graphics of the blocks are nice and colorful. The vaus is similar but not exactly the same. There are no falling objects to make the game hard at all like the original does. (at least not in the normal play, maybe in the hard setting, I haven't tried the hard mode yet) There are falling capsules giving you "powers" of the ball,

Ever since I played Final Fantasy Tactics on the PS1, all other strategy RPGs just didn't compare to the shear depth and strategy of that game. After playing through Final Fantasy Tactics Advance (the first one), I was disappointing that they didn't preserve anything else from the original FFT except for the strategy-based gameplay. With the introduction of the judge system, it restricts players from playing the game to its potential. Although FFT A2 still has the judge system, it has been overhauled so that it won't be so annoying. There are alot of things to do in this game to maintain its replay-ability just like the original. I am still hoping that Square-Enix will release a sequel to the original FFT on the home consoles (not portables). But for now this game will do just fine. Excellent game overall.

In many ways, this game is one of the finest tactics style rpg's out there. A player can choose from a wide variety of popular Final Fantasy job classes (at least 53, give or take) and it includes jobs for every "race" in the ivalice alliance. Fans of the series will enjoy countless hours spent questing, upgrading items, and customizing thier units. The judge system has been overhauled for the better. Instead of going to fantasy "jail" rule breakers just cant revive units until the end of their current battle. In conclusion thank you square enix for this game! Five chocobo's out of five!

I won't rehash all that has been said previously about this game in the other reviews. Simply put: This is the best game I've ever played on the DS. It ranks right up in the Top 3 I've ever played.
I am mainly writing this review for all you casual gamers out there. This game walks you through the steps and actually teaches you what to do PLUS you get practice time. One of my big issues with games is the frustration level since you don't know what to do or where to do it. I bought a DS and a Wii as a way to play more with my kids, since they prefer video over board games (board games are what I grew up with). In an effort to spend some more time with them doing things *they* like to do I started playing the DS. We have found a few Wii games but the majority are only so-so. I was very worried that the DS would have the same problem but we've found quite a few excellent games that really are varied. I have to say this 40+ year old mom has a new love.

I waited a good while for this game to come out, as I love the "point-and-click adventure" genre of games. And I figured that this is what I'd be getting. A good adventure with a private detective character.
Unfortunately, this is a visual novel. The amount of though you need to put into figuring out these cases is minimal. There are no puzzles to complete, as the game is so entirely linear that you must do exactly what is required next, and the game refuses to allow you to travel to other locations until you do it. This makes completeing the three different cases that are in the game more of a chore, rather than a game.
Its more or less just tapping with the stylus and reading texts, and more tapping, and finally a case ends, without any real effort on your part, other than doing exactly what the character tells you to.
One feature I liked, is the ability of the character to smoke, by clicking on the lighter icon. This pauses the game for a second, and allows you to see what the

I was a big fan of the first entry into the series, and this sequel doesn't disappoint. Besides adding 3 new classes, the new FOE behavior makes for a more challenging experience overall, the power curve is very much restructured. There is a wide variety of viability in party compositions now compared to the first game (anyone who played the first knows how necessary Protectors and Medics were).
Like the first it starts off pretty brutally hard, but as you experiment it gets easier. That being said, it just isn't for everybody. If you are not patient, I could see people shutting this game off after 30 minutes and not playing it again. The early game has a lot of fighting 3-4 battles, go back to town, sell, rest, repeat until you get a few decent skills and pick away at the labyrinth. Also it can be rather hard to figure out how classes interact with each other in a party, and the level of synergy can be a bit daunting to newcomers. It also is sparse about holding your hand, which is both

Wow.
This is Space Invaders? It is, but then again it's not. It's new, hip, challenging, trippy, amazing, but yet it still is very much Space Invaders.
Square-Enix truly has made something old feel amazingly new again. It's respectful of the classic 1978 game, but this is NOT just a rehash or classic rereleased. This high level of quality for a "classic remixed" game is a true rarity, you might find it only a few other places (Pac Man Championship Edition, and New Super Mario Brothers would be 2 good examples).
This is the new definitive version of the game. Forget all the endless rereleases that have come out through the years, this is "the one".
It's still 2d, with movements limited to left-right-shoot. But, there are new stategies. There are new enemies. There are enemies that hide behind other enemies, sometimes many of them. There are no bases like in the traditional Old School Space Invaders.
There's an incredible variety in the types of invaders, and they have various attack

Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures comes to the DS in style thankfully, leaving all the problems of the last Lego-based DS game (Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy) behind, even though it uses that game's graphics engine. If you are at all familiar with the Lego Star Wars games though, you'll feel right at home with Lego Indiana Jones, as the game provides the same kind of charming, goofy humor that the other games did. Playing through the first three Indy episodes, Lego Indiana Jones is pretty lengthy and features a ton of unlockable characters, meaning you'll be busy for some time, which is a big plus as well. The game looks pretty good and makes good use of John Williams' classic score, and there is some surprisingly great use made of the DS' touch screen capabilities and microphone. While Lego Indiana Jones is instantly enjoyable, it should be noted that if you've played Lego Star Wars at all, you'll notice how this is basically the same game with the Indy license

To understand how brilliant this game is, one should look back a the original phenom and other, less successful attempts to revive it.
The old: 1978's Space Invaders took the world by storm. In Japan, this popular game caused a shortage of the 100yen coins needed to play a game. In the USA, it munched similar amounts of quarters. The simple gameplay appealed to all types of people in the then-new arena of video games. Two years later, Atari licensed the arcade game for release at home, and the box proudly trumpeted "112 VIDEO GAMES"! These were all slight variations on the theme, with moving bases, invisible invaders, co-op play, fat players, and other small tweaks. Neat!
The others: Space Invaders was brilliant thirty years ago. The "thump thump thump" sounds of the invaders, and their iconic look are known by almost everyone, but the old game is slow and tedious. As much as I want to love it now, it's just too crusty and dusty -- and younger people will certainly turn up their nose
