Apple NEW! iPod nano 8GB MP3 Player - Blue
+ 0 likes
In an attempt to keep the product looking and feeling small, they have curved the case of the new nano. This has resulted in a curved surface for the screen. If there is a direct light source, it is hard to angle the unit in order to view the whole screen without glare.

I wanted a nano after selling my iPod a couple of months ago. I didn't use my iPod because I had an iPhone. But sometimes using my iPhone as an iPod for long periods of the day would drain my battery and I didn't want that happening. So i seeked out for a new iPod Nano. Cheaper and smaller was what drew me to the nano. I looked all over to maybe get a good deal on it but decided that I should wait. A couple of weeks later the new nano comes out and WOW. Have you seen the new features? Wow. Apple has almost out done itself. The new design and features are just what blew me away and I had to get one.

I would highly recommend this newly designed iPod Nano. i have the blue one and it's just so cool looking. Love the free games that come with it and everything about it.

Maybe after a few weeks I can have bad things to say about it, but until then...I LOVE IT!

I'm always skeptical if they can improve the next iPod. I just got the brand new iPod Nano 4th generation. It's quite the impressive device. The thinness blows my mind.

COOL NEW FEATURES - This new generation iPod Nano features accelerometers like had been in the iPhones and iPod Touch. This sensor knows when you rotate the device sideways, so that cover flow view appears automatically. Brilliant! Furthermore, if you want to change up what you're listening to, just shake the device. Some games will also use the accelerometer.

The new Genius feature is also great. Select a song, and then tell the iPod you want to use the Genius feature. It will find songs in your collection similar and create a playlist to suit the mood you're in. You'll be amazed by what it finds!

The way they curve the metal and glass is so incredibly impressive, when you see the device in person. Next, the device has a very solid feel to it, and the colors are gorgeous, all of them.

Space - This is the 8 GB version,

The iPod Nano has again been updated and improved, with some very nice new features. I was able to pick up a new Nano and a new iPod Touch at the Apple Store.

Accelerometer Built-In - The new iPod Nano has built in accelerometers like the iPhone and iPod Touch. This allows you to enter "cover-flow," browsing by simple rotating the Nano to the left or right. No longer do you have to navigate through menus to get to cover-flow, just flip the shuffle.

The accelerometer also allows you to "shake to shuffle," which means if you give the nano a strong shake back and forth, it will go to another track and shuffle your mix. However, it does take a fairly significant shake, so running should not trigger this feature, which made me happy. Fun feature. I keep wanting to do this though, so I never get through an entire song. ha.

Some games in the future, for the Nano may also take advantage of the accelerometer according to Apple.

Genius - This is the other new feature. When you are

Apple iPod nano 8GB Digital Multimedia Device - Audio Player, Video Player, Photo Viewer - 2 Color LCD - Blue

I bought this ipod to begin my workout routine. I also got the Belkin armband for the same reason. This Nano works flawlessly as a workout partner. Its light and packs a punch with sound. Syncs with no issue to my Macbook Pro. My only con is that it is so small it can get mixed up with the other things in my pocket. Get the rubber skin for it. All in all a great piece of technology from the innovative Apple. Highly recommended!

Apple 8 GB iPod nano AAC/MP3 Player Blue (3rd Generation)

Apple's new nano is designed to improve upon the past models and add some functionality. The improved video, smaller thinner body and updated firmware are enough to make it stand out. The slighly lower price tag is also sure to help sell more units.

Pros
- Small size - so thin!!!!
- Nice design - shorter, fatter form factor for more reliability
- Many color options - Silver, blue, green, black, etc.
- Brighter screen with better contrast than previous generation
- Great video option is a nice to have for sample TV shows, clips, etc
- Very nice size option of 8GB for a video capable media player
- Works with most traditional iPod accessories (except old A/V cable)
- Slightly lower price tag than 2nd Generation nano
- Unlike iPod classic, all flash memory means less failures and breakage
- Flash memory also awesome for running / working out
- Slightly better sound quality than 2nd generation
- Apple reputation is highly deserved

I really struggled between 3 and 4 stars. If you don't mind being locked into iTunes, locked into Apple and having to pay $50 for a video cable, then I'd consider this a 5 star product. However, I do mind.

Without repeating everyone else, the hardware is a thing of beauty. Specifically what made me make this my first iPod ever was the fact that this is by far the most compact video player available, especially for one that can output to a TV or projector. This was the only reason I left my drag-and-drop, user-replaceable battery Sansa behind. I'd give my new iPod 5 stars for this feature alone if it weren't for the $50 cable you have to buy only from Apple because they inserted an authentication chip. I consider that kind of restriction blatantly anti-consumer.

In fact, it's that let's-lock-you-into-Apple aspect that has me downgrading my opinion. Many people will not care, but I still chafe under the necessity of DRM, how I will lose most of the utility of my iTunes purchases

After toying around with this little thing for a few days I feel certain I can report that Apple has made another excellent product. When these came out earlier this month, I have to admit that I was thrown back into the MP3 player market, despite already having purchased a black IPod classic 5.5 in May. I almost went with the $249 80 GB model but I opted for the 8 GB Nano instead. This thing is so tiny (it fits in my small jeans pocket) that I don't mine managing which 50 to 100 albums I want to carry with me. And I found that popping this out and flipping threw the cover flow of albums is quite enjoyable.

I also have to admit that I came extremely close to purchasing Creative's new player, which is also impressive. The SD expansion capability nearly had me sold and the Zen UI is nice. Actually the Zen Vision M's UI was better than the IPod's and I may have switched back over had it not been for IPod's new UI, which I think is excellent. The tweaks to the interface is the main reason

I upgraded from an antiquated (3 year old) Mini and actually bought the 8 G Product Red Nano (why not give to charity while upgrading) and I love it! The sound quality is even better than the old Mini and the video quality is better (if smaller) than the Ipod Video. Amazingly, the new Nano actually fits into the belt clip of the Mini, so very little adapting is needed. So worth it!

Apple's new nano is designed to improve upon the past models and add some functionality. The improved video, smaller thinner body and updated firmware are enough to make it stand out. The slighly lower price tag is also sure to help sell more units.

The Looks

First the aesthetics. Some people will prefer the gen2 nano's longer body with the larger click wheel. Apple shortened the body in order to limit breaks due to the former generation flexing in people's pockets and bags. The longer nano was prone to bend (and sometimes break) when people put them in their pocket and sat down or moved around.

Another change motivated by durability is the metal face. The old clear composite face was a magnet for smudges and scratches. The new metal face holds up nicer. Be warned though; it does chip and scratch some more, so get a cover.

Apple does lose some points for the smaller click-wheel being awkward. It's a trade-off.

The Sound

Sound quality is not significantly improved from

Wow, I'm so excited about my new nano. The design is brillant, color great and it has so many functions. I've came from a 1st gen nano, so im really happy I can watch my podcast's on this. Great battery life, around 12 hrs. and you can play games and have other little functions like stopwatch, watch, and calender. And with 2,000 song capacity(8GB) I don't think I'll you'll need a new one for a long time.

This is my first iPod. I recently gave up on Creative MP3 players because I have had bad luck with the ones I tried. So with my refund money I bought the iPod nano. I love it!! It is so easy to use, way easier (and faster) then the Zen. I really like what they did with the cover flow. I like to see the covers of all of my CDs I import. The screen is so bright and it is easy to watch a tv show on it. The biggest change for me is having to use iTunes. I would rather use Rhapsody, which is what I have been using forever. But the sound quality, picture, and design of this iPod is amazing.

I buy almost every new iPod when it comes out. I need a 12-step program to break my addiction to new iPods. In the meantime, here are my thoughts on the new nano, which I bought despite being perfectly happy with my still perfect black 8gb 2nd generation nano.

The 3rd generation nano is, like all iPods before, a very nicely designed gadget with an elegant, easy to use interface. The screen is noticably sharper and a bit brighter than the screen of the 2g nano, which is important for video and games. I have not tested the battery life, but tests from credible, objective reviewers (like cnet and ipodlounge) show that the new nano's real-world battery life is even a bit longer than Apple advertises, and longer than the 20+ hour battery life of the 2nd gen.

I'm afraid this is the first iPod that doesn't really thrill me. I've tried watching videos and movies on it, and the screen is just too small for comfortable viewing. (No surprise here, as I never liked watching videos on the

I went to the Apple store when they received their shipment yesterday (9/6) and purchased my new Nano. After connecting it to charge it and put some music on it, I tested it and it froze after about 10 minutes of use. Couldn't get it to turn off - it wouldn't accept any input. So I let the battery die down over night and connected it next day. Still in frozen state. So I took it back today and exchanged it for another one. Connected it, put some music on it, and this one froze even before playing a tune. The software must not have been tested very well. It's not like I was doing anything unusual. Back to the Apple store tomorrow to return this, and I think I'll wait awhile to get it.

The product looks great otherwise. The screen is bright and clear. Can't wait until they work out the bugs so I can get another one.
