Seagate FreeAgent Go 320GB External USB Hard Drive - Blue
+ 0 likes
This is a fast and convenient way to back up your hard drive, or sync two computers, or migrate files from one computer to another. At 320 GB, it has enough capacity to store what most people need to keep or carry around. It comes with pre-loaded software that allows you to set up automatic back-up, once a day or any day of the week.

It is decently fast at data transfer, and runs cool and quiet (it makes a very slight spinning sound at start-up, but you have to listen closely to hear it).

The entire device is very light and would fit in a large shirt pocket. It comes in a slim case with brushed aluminum plates on the top and bottom (the bottom surface is rubberized for non-skid). This gives it a sleek and elegant look, and I think nicer than some other brands that have a plastic case, not as sturdy and more prone to fingerprints.

There is no protective sleeve included with this FreeAgent Go. You can get an optional docking station from Seagate that comes with a leatherette case. The

Can't find any cons.
Good price ($79), Works like a charm. Don't hear any noise or feel vibrations.
And truly plug and play.
I installed it on a Gateway P-series notebook running Windows Vista

I've installed this as a upgrade into my PS3 and it works Great!!!!

If you were not aware Sony allows you to do this without voiding the warranty!

So far, no issues and I took out my original 80GB and put it in a portable USB enclosure. The enclosure I bought is this one:

StarTech SAT2510U2 InfoSafe 2.5-Inch USB/SATA Hard Drive Enclosure

I bought this for my PS3 to upgrade the hard drive and it worked like a charm. I am not an electronic geek so i don't know about how well it preforms all i know was it had to be a SATA 2.5 inch and speed of 5400 and this matched the description so i bought if for a very fair price since its a little outdated but other then that no problems with my PS3 hard drive and if you register you product with them they give you a coupon to upgrade if ya like!! All and all shipping was on time and in condition described! :)

Maxtor Black Armor 320GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive - Black/Blue

I was in the market for a blackarmor 320gb, or a freeagent go 320gb (new slim version). The encryption isn't a must have but the original reason why I was drawn to this particular drive. I have been researching a little every night for a week. Beyond the two or three relatively thorough reviews on the smaller 160gb drive, I still wanted to know two things:

1. Does the speed difference kill the deal for a BlackArmor 320gb? I could not find an HDtach post on either of these new drives!

2. Do both freeagent go slim and BlackArmor drives come with a Y-cable OR a single cable? (reason why you might care below)

There's not much I can do about HDTach tests, I have to just buy the drive and find out.

Now bear with me on this rant about cables. I have the previous generation freeagent go 160gb and the Y-cable is very annoying to pack for traveling. At 30 inches, it's longer than needed for notebook users and/or travelers. I NEVER find myself working on a tabletop that allowed or required

Maxtor Black Armor 320GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive - Black/Blue

This is a great drive, and very easy to use. I purchsed one for my husband almost three months ago, and decided that I just had to have one for myself. Installation was quick and simple. Great tool to have for those who use the computer for everything. I especially love the fact of the encryption and password protection.

This drive is great! Easy to setup. Once you plug it in and enter your password it encrypts/decrypts your data in hardware so fast you will never know that it is happening (unless you forget your password.)

It remembers your password until it is unplugged/powered off. Even after rebooting it still remains unlocked which is very convenient if you do a lot of that.

I bought the 320GB version and carry it in my laptop case. It would fit in a shirt pocket and weighs less than my cell phone. The rubberized black is non-slip and the chrome accent looks good. There are two lenses lit by blue LEDS. One lets you know when it has power, the other when it is unlocked which also blinks during data xfer.

Maxtor Black Armor 320GB External USB 2.0 Hard Drive - Black/Blue

I bought this drive to protect my identity from being stolen. As long as it's connected to your computer, it acts like any external hard drive. The second you disconnect it, and therefore turn off the power, it's worthless. If a thief steals it, the information cannot be accessed without the password you create. It cannot be reformatted without the software on your computer. Worthless piece of metal to a thief. I've stored my passwords, financial data along with backups of photos etc., knowing they're safe. Carry it, plug in to another computer, and it asks for your password. Simple as that.

Personally I have 2 WD Passport Essentials and 1 WD passport Elite.
But this is the best 2.5 inch portable hard drive that I have ever purchased.
Pros: 1.very fast compared to the other that I got 2. very reliable(I still have to wait several months) 3.very nice shape and materials. 4. no delay on hard-ware encryption ulike software one(this is big for me) 5.very quite. what else.
Cons: nothing yet
Clearly, this is the one.

I bought this drive specifically for use in my PS3. Installation was a breeze. I backed up my old drive to a third external drive, swapped it out with this one, and restored everything with no issues whatsoever. I'm very happy with it -- now I've got room for tons of demos, music, and videos.

I have to say that I am EXTREMELY PLEASED with this purchase. I recently acquired a PS3 and was unhappy with the amount of digital storage space that it had. For those of you who don't know the PS3 is more than a gaming system, it's a fully functional gaming hub. I successfully installed the scorpio and now have almost 100gb of MP4's (movies), MP3's (music), and fully digital games installed. It works like a charm and is a bargain at this price. I am strongly considering buying another for my laptop.

I still brag about this drive. I got it for 137, and it's in my PS3. Problem solved. It's been in there a while with no problems. It's quiet. Seek time was the same as the stock drive, and it takes the same amount of time to pull anything up. I am completely satisfied with this purchase. It rocks!

Western Digital My Passport Essential 320GB External USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive - Intense Blue
+ 0 likes
The Western Digital My Passport Essential 320GB USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive (Intense Blue) is the largest capacity in the portable essentials line-up. This comes in a variety of colors including black, red, white and blue. They say that this is the update to the regular Western Digital 320 GB Passport 2.5" USB 2.0 Hard Drive and I own both of them. In fact I also own several other portable hard drives in the Western Digital passport lineup and so far I couldn't be happier. All of these are great for mobile backups of data, though slower to copy large backups than their A/C powered MyBook big-brothers.

Pros
+ Largest current capacity available in this line of products
+ Nice portable form factor that easily connects via USB
+ USB powered, no A/C required, which is great for portability
+ Works well on Windows Vista, XP and Mac OS X
+ Easy to set up disk encryption for security and privacy
+ Nice looks, and cool color options for those that care about that
+ Turns on and off with your

Western Digital My Passport Essential 320GB External USB 2.0 Portable Hard Drive - Intense Blue

The title of this item is "320GB My Passport Essential 2.5IN Blue". But the description clearly states that the item is ONLY 250GB of storage space. I almost purchased this item because it was listed as close to $30.00 less expensive than another Western Digital 320GB. I figured it was less expensive because the color Blue was in less demand. Instead it is because it is a totally different product with fewer gigabytes of storage. READ UP BEFORE YOU OPEN UP (your wallet that is).

For those of you who are looking for an upgrade to your storage capability for your laptop or PS3 this is perfect. I installed this in my PS3 within minutes and was up and running with just around 300 GB after format and initial install.

It's amazing how small and light this drive is.

The drive arrived in an electrostatic bag with plastic frame to keep it protected and in the middle of the box.

My Macbook Pro recently gained a little pooch, those jeans we bought just a few months ago started getting tight, and I had to let out the belt a few notches. So I started hunting for a new drive.

Being a faithful WD Customer, I decided I would give their internal laptop drive a try. I've had several other products of theirs that haven't screwed me over yet. I've had this drive a good month and a half, and I haven't had any troubles in terms of crashing or weird behavior. although, it's always a good idea to backup, no matter how great a drive is. I'll be sure to update this review in the coming months with any changes.

Here's some of the reasons I bought this drive:

#1. My Current HD was full, or very near, and once this drive was up I had a good 200 GB of space. That's a Smickle-pickle load of space for a laptop.

#2. WD is generally a reliable brand, I haven't had any problems with them, and their internal and external hard-drives get very good reviews, especially compared

Got this drive as the capacity of the OEM drive provided by Apple for my MacBook Pro 17" was nearing it's capacity. I order a Deckcell USB 2.0 to SATA + IDE (2.5", 3.5", 5.25") Cable with Power Adapter from Amazon at the same time, so moving the data from the internal drive to the new drive was a breeze and painless. After loading the OS, and having the OSX installation process move the data, installation of the drive itself was done (a little cumbersome, but not too bad) and this new drive is performing well and is MUCH quieter than the original OEM drive.

If you are considering a replacement drive for your Mac Book Pro, I strongly recommend a look at this drive!
