NETGEAR WPN311 RangeMax Wireless PCI Adapter
+ 0 likes
This probably works just fine in XP or Vista (non-64-bit). The sticker on the package clearly says "For Windows 7 Updates, visit <url>", which would, you know, imply that the product has a Windows 7 driver available on that site. Well, save yourself some time and avoid this thing because there is no such driver. I spent hours looking for a solution with no luck.

Netgear needs to get their act together. BTW, this product is OLD - this particular model was produced back in 2003.

Best Buy should pull this product or at least remove that sticker.

NETGEAR WGPS606 54 Mbps Wireless Print Server with 4-port Switch

Had no problems using this as a print server with a PC, but with a Mac - it just didn't perform well. Specifically, we lost printer capabilities and diagnostic tools. We followed the most current and relevant driver installation directions out there, but just couldn't get high quality printing from a Mac with this print server. Our printer was a Canon iPixma 4500.

Netgear WNR3500-100NAS RangeMax Premium Wireless-N Gigabit Router

This NetGear router performance is pretty good. Its small compact design allows you to perfectly hide or tuck it anywhere on your desk. Its easy to both install and add other wired/wireless devices. It has about a 10-15% better signal strength then the LinkSys routers, but it does have about 10% less bandwidth. So with this said it all depends on what matters most when buying this device either speed or signal. To give people more info towards what Linksys router I am comparing it to its the WRT310n. So overall this router is good for basic online gaming, basic computer downloads, music and other small files you downloads. When it comes to large downloads like game add-ons, movies, etc. that's where this unit suffers compared to other routers, which for the price is and isn't worth depending on how big you wallet is.

Linksys by Cisco WRT120N Wireless-N Home Router

I bought this router about six months ago after my old one died. Big mistake!!! Linksys has taken some cost cutting measures and they have backfired. Namely the cooling system for this router does not work so it over heats, that is why you see so many people with drop signals in these reviews. I never had a drop signal for three months, then they would happen about once a week. I though it was the cable modem. I got a new one. Now six months later drop signal all the time. I have to unplug and let the router cool of and restart. So annoying!

Great product, I recommend it! I have Windows 7, so ofcourse if you are not a "tech" or dont have too much experience then it'll be a little harder to install this product. But a simple call to customer service will get you up and running within minutes. Otherwise if you have any other operating system ( XP, VISTA etc.) you should be good to go and connected quickly.

Hope this is helpful,
JM

D-Link DIR-655 Extreme N Wireless Router

I purchased this item based on the highs review here, but I am disappointed and regret my choice because it does not deliver the stated performance levels reliably. This router is easily overloaded and struggles to deliver the full N speeds across the wireless network. This results in stuttering web video streams, poor file transfers which hang part way through, and a need to restart the unit every few days to restore performance. It's worth reading the dlink support forums to see what others say about this router -- it sounds like many users have the same issues with the dir-655 that I do. I'm switching back to my 6 year old 802.11g router, which had no issues at the same usage level.

NETGEAR DGN2000 Wireless-N Router with Built-in DSL Modem

The 2 Wire product that is issued by AT&T is a very unreliable piece of equipment. I went through 2 @ $ 100.00 a piece before replacing it with the Netgear. After a lesson in networking I got the Netgear up and on line. If I had I the slightest bit of experience it would have installed in 10 minutes. The Best Buy store matched a $ 99.00 price and sent me off with a great deal of confidence and it all was for the better.

Linksys by Cisco WRT160N Wireless-N Broadband Router

I am really having a hard time understand people having issues with this. I replaced an old router, plugged this in, put in CD 10 minutes later: Wireless PC running windows 7 CONNECTED, Laptop running Vista CONNECTED, laptop running XP CONNECTED, PS3 CONNECTED, XBOX360 CONNECTED. I think everyone having an issue might be better suited to hire someone who actually knows what they are doing to install for you

The set up was easy. I had nothing but problems since day one. I keep on losing connection. I called the customer service to linksys several times for help. The problem still has not been resolved. The agent offered me to fix all the problems for me for a fee of $10. Which they physically go into your computer and do everything for you. The next day it happened again. i call again and they offered me the same service for the same fee which i already paid. I demanded a refund for my $10 and told them i would just throw this away. It was not worth my time to deal with this anymore. I have already spent a total of 8hrs with them. Finally the guy said he would send me a refurbished one. I thought it was stupid that i bought this new and i ended up with a refurbished one. The worst part is when i got this item it had a scratch on it. They could have at least send me one that looked new.

D-Link Wireless DIR-615 N Router, 4-Port 10/100 Switch, 2 Antennas, Draft 802.11n

I've had this router a total of 3 days and it has worked better than I imagined. I originally bought a Belkin N router, but was dissatisfied with the dropped wireless signal. I have the D-Link router both wired and wireless and it works amazing. I would recommend this to anyone who needs an entry level N router. The price is set at $69.99 online which is reasonable, but if you can try to find it on sale definitely don’t miss the opportunity to buy.

D-Link Xtreme N Dual Band Gigabit Router

This my worst experience with a computer/electronics product. This product looks great on paper, but was a real disappointment for me. After 5 hours of trying to get this router to work, and 1 hour on the phone with customer support, I have decided to return it and most likely get a Linksys instead. May be there is something wrong with my setup/installation, but I am not the only one with similar experience. Connecting to the Internet should not be that difficult in 2010, especially for $150 !
My setup: cable modem, 4-month old Dell laptop with Windows 7. Also tested on an older laptop with Windows XP. Internet from cable modem works well. Old Linksys router works fine.
Particular issues:
- setup failed several times, for no apparent reason. This included the program crashing or seemingly getting stuck for an infinite amount of time. This was still the case after disabling the Antivirus software.
- after what seemed like a successful install, no connection to the Internet.

Canon PIXMA MX860 Office All-in-One Printer

This unit was very easy to set-up and to utilize all featurs. You are able to print from anywhere in the home. One drawback is the ink cartages ran out to fast, unable to print tons of papers as other units, however the quality is excellent. I would buy another.

I've been looking for a wireless printer for about a month. I found this one, didn't buy it at first, which I am happy I didn't because a month later it went on sale. There are several printer users in my house, and we were sick of having to connect to a printer to print, so this wireless printer is so convenient send the information to the printer whereever you at. Set up was simple, I followed the step by step instructions, once I had the main computer set up, which I took a reviewer advice and used my lap top to add it to the network, once it was added to the network everyone on my network connected within a minutes.

I cannot say anything bad about this router. It doesn't show it on the site, but this is V2 of the router without the lights, and much smaller at the same time. It fits excellently on a desk, and is about the size of a smaller paperback book.

It is eaxy to install(this is coming from two Linksys routers that went bad on us in a year and gave nothing but problems in the process). Almost too easy! I have yet to dive completely into the features and setup, but this router was setup in about a total of ten minutes on the main machine, with the wireless(including printer and PS3) setup in another five or so.

The wireless and wired performance is also outstanding. We are getting 270Mbs on the wireless and 1Gbs on the wired. It is a bit more than I had planned to spend, but, with Netgear, the setup, the options on the GUI(web based setup and config of course), and the speed boost we recieved, it was worth the extra 30-40 dollars! I highly recommend this router! It is my first

Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter A/B/G & N Networks

I had the one antenae white network adaptor and thought this adaptor was supposed to be a lot quicker when playing online games. not only did it use the exact same software to install it as the old white one,it offered no additional performance. don't waste your money if you have the white one, it is not an upgrade.

Netgear WGR614 Wireless-G Router

Bought from best buy, setup in less than minute (i have done it before), so it was pretty basic stuff for me. Maybe issue for a new user.
Reliable and works pretty smooth as expected better than my burned out trendnet router. Sometimes the connection goes down but it has happened one or two time in past two months and is not an issue as it happens in my home with every other router.

D-Link DIR-655 Extreme N Wireless Router

This router could not have been worse. It destroys the ability to access many types of content. My Ethernet BlueRay (LG) player couldn't use Netflix. My Ethernet TV (VIZIO) couldn't use Netflix or Pandora. My computer would suddenly lose the ability to reach the web due to some glitch that puts a Securespot login page between me and all content, even though I had turned SecureSpot entirely off. And last but not least, the router would go stupid every 24 hours or so and need to be manually rebooted to work. Some of this nightmare was corrected when I called DLINK and they ran me through a dozen or so obscure settings that needed to be altered in strange ways. I don't mean basic settings. I've configured many routers. I mean truly obscure stuff. Strangest thing of all is that they don't simply post a configuration file on their support site for Netflix customers, or people using a Mac, or for people who experience the problem where the modem drops off line. I would still have been annoyed,

D-Link DIR-655 Extreme N Wireless Router

The 655 worked great for over a year until one day I clicked on the "update your firmware" button on the user interface. Big mistake. It installed 1.21 and it slowed down to molasses and would no longer stream netflix on my LG BD-370 player. I spent hours that I can never get back to find out that it is a common problem with this router. The Dlink forums are full of complaints. Since the router wont let you ever "go back" to a previous firmware version...I was stuck. There is an application on line by a Russian developer that hacks the 655 and lets you down grad the firmware backwards...call me crazy but I dont think it's a good idea to download uncertifed Russian software hacks to fix what is supposed to work from the get go. I've updated to 1.33 but it still only connects 33% of the time. The wireless connection speed is now only 65mb/s on N. Web searches show that sometimes you can be successful....apparently there are some extensive ports and stuff you can do, but it's far over my expertise.

Linksys by Cisco WRT54G2 Wireless-G Broadband Router

I bought this Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router with 4 port ethernet switch. It does exactly what it is supposed to do. It links my broadband modem with other wireless devices in my house. I have a laptop with wi-fi built in. In the last couple of days I have linked an AppleTV unit to the wireless router. I am about to receive a Samsung BluRay player with built in Wi-Fi and I suspect that I will have no problem with it. This wireless router is a little more expensive than some of the others, but it more than worth the price. That makes it a good value.

Linksys by Cisco WRT610N Simultaneous Dual-N Band Wireless Router
+ 0 likes
I bought this Router to replace my reliable D-Link DI-524. After years of troublefree service, there turned out to be two fatal flaws, one with iPhones dropping connections and one with not being able to run 4 wired connections simultaneously. I tried the newer DIR-825, but it broke my SIP Phone and still had issues with my iPhone. After searching for many days, I came accross this sleek looking router and decided to give Linksys another shot after a bad experience in 2002. What a pleasant surprise. I unboxed it, connected my internet connection and did a basic configuration. The SIP Phone work again immediately and the iPhone connected immediately and still has never dropped its connection.
