" I have since upgraded to a blue ray burnner and everything is well."
This camera makes wonderful videos but how does one make backup copies? Unlike you I have not been able to find a Blu-Ray burner; apparently they are not for sale in N.A.

Hi, I made a litle tool to easaly download your video's and images from your camcorder. I made it for my legria HF200 but it can be used for any camcorder. You don't need to connect your camera, just insert you sd-card in your pc or connect the camera to the PC and download the video's to your PC. You'l need dotnet framework 3.5 to use this software. You can download it at http://users.telenet.be/truyens/

I was in the market for a superzoom myself a few months ago and ended up with the Panasonic FZ28, here's my setup: http://www.hawkee.com/systems/45/ It's a great camera.

Read your very nice review and am interested in possibly purchasing....but why this line:
"I popped the DVD into my Pioneer DVD player and experienced a very high quality picture although it is not 1080i or 1080p quality."
If the camera states that it is "Full HD 1080x1920," why are you claiming it is not?
I am also on Mac. Non-Intel based though. G5 dual PowerPC Sys 10.5.7 which will run iLife 09 and iMovie...supposedly. Do you need an HD version of iMovie?
Thank you.

I use a Nikon D70s, and it's been a great camera for years.

Thanks for the tip xandrajune. I went with the Panasonic FZ28 which is fairly similar to this and am extremely happy with it.

Panasonic SDR-S7 Flash Memory Camcorder with 10x Optical Zoom (Black)

Average camera. Bought this to replace the Oly S5 camera which I used for video shoot occasionally. To have the same video quality, I had to set the SDR-S7 to XP Mode and 4:3. Any other setting lowers the quality below par to the Oly S5 which is more of a digital still camera.
For me, the 16:9 is useless. Problem with compatibility with editing software etc. Further, degrade the video quality.
But I do love the small size and the camera being able to stored in my pocket. I'll probably used it a year or so before handing this gadget to my kids for their youtube exploit.

I'm thinking about getting this. I like that it does 18x optical and 720p video. It's got some great reviews, but my only concern is the shutter speed. Should be reasonable enough considering it's not a DSLR.
