Maestro 4250 Auto Navigation System w/ Voice Recognition Refurbished
Recieved 10/1/08, looks like new, operates like new. Box included a A/C home charger (not listed as an included item on the box). Nice freebee. The POI seem to be outdated, other GPS I own (TomTom, Garmin, etc) are more up to date for my area. It does not pin-point my home base as close as other GPS do. The case is made of a slippery plastic, kind of hard to get a grip on. The Display is sharp, easy on the eyes. This thing is fantastic the way it finds satellites from my kitchen counter. Within seconds of turn on, it has grabbed 4 or 5, ready to go to work. Only 90 day warranty, so use it heavy first 90 days. TO-DO: get a windows 'puter on line and up date the firmware. No regrets on this purchase, the $129, free ship AMZ deal is hard to beat.

Magellan Maestro 4250 GPS
I've been using my new Magellan 4250 for about 2 weeks. I can't complain about the functionality, I upgraded it to the 4.60 firmware and it seems to be working just fine & functions just as I would expect it to. But I'm really upset that Magellan as a company would sell this as a brand new unit and intentionally NOT include the newest updated maps with the unit! Instead they want to sell the updated maps *seperately* for $79.95 as if they are some sort of a "deluxe accessory" you can get if you're willing to pay the extra $$ -- COME ON MAGELLAN - WHAT KIND OF BS IS THIS??!! This is a total ripoff to not include the most updated maps with the unit, or at the very least you should make them a free download! I mean come on -- if I buy a brand new car it doesn't get sold to me with tires that are 10 years old!! I was not very pleased at all, for instance, to discover that my neighborhood and the very street that I live on appears on my 4250 as nothing more than a big green field due to

Sony 4.0MP Handycam High-Definition Camcorder with 2.7" Widescreen LCD - Silver
Other reviews have fairly described the pros and cons of the TG1. I own a Canon HV20 for "tripod events" - nothing beats HDV for image quality and low-light performance, and I always use a quality Senneheiser wireless mike for subjects greater than 10 feet away. But there are too many moments in life - of one's kids, mostly - that are over by the time you go get the beast, make sure there's room on the tape and juice in the battery. These are what the TG1 was designed for - it's your second camera, for the moments that normally get away.

I think the design and execution of the TG1 are brilliant. The IS and face detection work very well. Yes, I would have loved a mike input and an exposure button. But my guess is that Sony made these decisions of omission very carefully. If you have been waiting for a decent-quality shirt-pocket HD camcorder - as I have been ever since flash-memory models hit the market - didn't you expect to pay four figures for the early-adopters' privilege? Just think

JBL ES25C Center Channel Speaker - Cherry Finish With Black Grille
I could have not been more pleased with this speaker. I first listened to them at a local frys electronics and the range and depth just simply amazed me, thanks amazon! The vocals were very crisp and strong, its like i had the person speaking in front of me. The voice reproduction is pretty much spot on. I was able to find deals on pretty much a complete set of the ES series speakers here on amazon.
I currently have
ES90 - mains
ES25C - center
ES150P - woofer
ES20 - bookshelfs

Together the set provides a complete range of sounds that pretty much covers all ranges of audio from music to HD surround sound formats. I highly recommend any speaker in this series. As always I reccomend that you hear them first as not everyones ears are as finely tuned as some. :)

Magellan Maestro 5310 GPS - Black/Silver
I am a novice with GPS systems yet have family members who use them more regularly.

I bought this product specifically for road trip vacations. The 5-inch screen made it unnecessary for me to wear my reading glasses to see it. The menu interface is fairly user-friendly and the voice over adjustable volume can be set loud to hear even with music playing at high levels.

During my recent trip to Orlando, the only issue I ran into was being routed through the gated off employee parking lot for Animal Kingdom theme park and the guard routed us to the main entrance which he told us happens alot with GPS systems in general. Also, the Magellan unit is so slim & compact, it fit snugly in my backpack.

I reviewed 9 different prospective units before deciding on purchasing this one and I am thoroughly satisfied with that decision.

Sony 4.0MP Handycam High-Definition Camcorder with 2.7" Widescreen LCD - Silver
Pros: small, portable, easy to use, slick touch screen, compressed video formats look great (1080 in AVCHD and 720p in MPG format), 'Steady Shot' noticibly improves video, nice zoom and the still shots aren't half bad (has a tiny built in flash!), and *true* 5.1 surround! (5.1 or just stereo, your choice).

Cons: Not great in low light (including stills), battery time could be longer (I purchased a quick charging unit and another battery), memory is expensive (1/3 more than the average flash stick of comparable size), no mic input (windy days will kill audio).

WARNING: Do not expect ease of use with AVCHD format and MAC (long conversions given that you have the right software). However, with an upgrade to my Sony Vegas software on my PC, I am able to natively edit Sony's AVCHD format, and 5.1 surround. You can edit the SD format (720p MPEG) on a MAC.

Sony 4.0MP Handycam High-Definition Camcorder with 2.7" Widescreen LCD - Silver
I just picked this camera up and found the video to be very good. I'm running an XP machine and I'm able to upload the video and play it fine. I've heard folks say you need a fast and powerful machine to run the huge files but I have not had any problems with that. I already figured the video quality wouldn't be as good as other products out there buy my opinion is what good is better quality if you don't have the camera with ya? This puppy will fit in your front pocket.
The image stabilization and zoom are great. It focuses very well on moving objects and clarity is good. Digital picture quality is useless with this camera. One other big negative is Sony doesn't ship you the HDMI to MINI HDMI cable so you have to go find one. These are not cheap. If you go to best buy expect to pay $75 min. If you want to play HD from the camera to you HD plasma you'll need this cable or a converter.
They are not easy to find either.
Low light video seems to be ok and better than other products I've

Acoustic Research 900MHz Wireless Indoor/Outdoor Speaker (each)
Sound great for outdoor patio/balcony use, or other smaller areas. Easiest to use and work best if your stereo has a second line out. Also, if you plan to use these completely cordless, you'll probably want to invest in rechargeable batteries (speakers can recharge them, battery replacement requires a screw driver). Don't forget the cost of the batteries - good batteries can cost more than the speakers!

Magellan Maestro 5310 GPS - Black/Silver
I got my Magellan Maestro 5310 today and tested it thoroughly. This is my first GPS Navigator and I liked it a lot. It works with no problems.

Pros: It talks a lot: the actions you take, the street names, warning for approaching turns, etc. and bells/chimes at the turning points... Route recalculation takes about 3 seconds. Big screen is awesome. Satellite connection is perfect in Texas. The accuracy is about 4-5 meters. And it is full of POI.

Cons: So far the only con can be the difficulty to connect the cradle with the swivel mount. It's not easy to push the cradle all the way down until it locks in place with the swivel mount. Don't force it, it will break, or don't mount the Magellan Maestro 5310 before having those two pieces lock perfectly. What I did was to put some soap on the tabs and the holes and then the cradle slides and locks without forcing it.

Microtek ArtixScan M1 Pro Scanner
I normally don't write reviews, but in this case I feel compelled to let others know in advance what an important manufacturer has done to cut costs and how this policy affects the buyer/user.

We recently learned (the hard way) that Microtek has ENTIRELY discontinued tech support by phone. The only way to reach support is by email. They promise a 24-48 hour response! For working professionals who need a responsive support department, this is unacceptable - at best. And whoever you are, professional or not, slow and unresponsive support is a killer, especially after you've spent hundreds of $$$ on a product you can't put to work..

There is a "customer service department" phone number, basically an answering service for repairs and non technical matters, but no LIVE tech support (no matter how hard you plead).

ANYONE considering a Microtek product of any sort should consider the above. NO LIVE TECH SUPPORT - only EMAIL Support!!!!

If you're thinking about purchasing the M1 or

Sony 4.0MP Handycam High-Definition Camcorder with 2.7" Widescreen LCD - Silver
I recently bought the TG1 and Sanyo HD1010 and posted a comparison clip on Vimeo.com

Overall, I found the image stabilization to be very good, but the video had muted colors and looked less detailed than that from the Sanyo.

Here are some things I really liked about the camera:
-built in lens cap
-slightly smaller size than Sanyo HD1010
-high quality metal body (titanium)
-matching case (extra cost)
-5.1 audio recording
-memory card plays directly on PS3

Here are thing I didn't like:
-Memory sticks are very expensive compared to SD cards, I found around 4x the cost
-The battery life is rather short, only around 45 minutes (vs 120 min).
-AVCHD are difficult to edit, can not be easily uploaded to Vimeo or Youtube without first editing on the computer. Sanyo's MP4 files can be uploaded directly.
-No in camera editing ability, can not even join or cut parts of clips
-Not able to record at 1080p
-No external mic or headphone jack
-Touchscreen has small buttons
-The menu structure is confusing
-No

Magellan Maestro 4250 GPS
The 1st electronic gift my user manual avoiding, tech phobic wife not only uses, but raves about. There was close to joy in her voice when telling me about finding a shorter route, bypassing traffic jams, and even taking a more scenic route.

Several product rating website says there are other GPSs as good or better (although the 4250 is highly rated), but after seeing my wife's satisfaction I'm very glad I selected this one.

model 02 Ultra Mobile PC (UMPC), 1.6 GHz VIA C7M ULV CPU, 1 GB RAM, 120 GB 4200 rpm Hard Drive, VIA VX700 Graphics, 5" LCD, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi, Sprint EVDO, Windows XP Professio
I own a Model 02 OQO. It has a built in "motherboard flaw" that causes it to lock up and become totally unusable. I was informed by Customer Service at OQO that "they are aware of this problem" and the tech said "I just worked on one like this yesterday." Worst of all, after telling me I would "have it back quickly" when I had to ship it to them in Texas, they told me today IT WOULD TAKE TWO MONTHS TO REPAIR THIS BEFORE THEY SHIP IT BACK TO ME. They added, "we do not have an exchange or replacement policy." This is unacceptable. The flaw they ship this with makes the OQO an unusable brick.

Do not waste your time and money on this flawed device.

Tamrac #5766 Velocity 6x, Compact Sling Pack, for Digital & Film SLRs with up to 5" Zoom Lens Attached, & Accessories - Black
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2Q1IJ0NSZQTB8 The Tamrac is a perfect fit for my Digital SLR camera.

It fits the camera with a 18-55m lens as well as when the 55-200m lens is attached.

There's not really room for storing lenses, but you could store extra batteries and a charger.

The bag is easy to open and the top flap pivots away from you when opening.

It has some waterproof coating on it

It would be nice to fit an extra lens in there, but really when I'm out an about, I choose the lens I'm going to use for the excursion.

The bag is very well padded compared to the other options I saw.

Pyle In-Dash 5-inch Monitor DVD/MP3 /VCD Player-Pyle In-Dash 5 Monitor, DVD/MP3 /VCD Player
This is the best stereo I've seen for the price. It has a backup camera output, a two channel sub output. Two video input connectors. Theres a toggle switch your control that will shut off the video picture on the head unit while driving and allow the video picture to continue to play on rear monitors. Great safety feature!
You can use the USB port with a scan disk / thumb drive to store and play video and music files.
Great head unit with 5inch screen display.
fits in a regular half/height single din opening.
If you got good factory speakers theres no need to buy an amplifier, great sound output.
The only thing this is lacking is that it does not have a built in navigation system.
This is the stereo to buy, I'll do a commercial for this product. If you don't buy this one you will be sorry.

JVC GZ-HD3 60GB HD Hard-Drive Digital Camcorder
I love this camera!! It's very simple to use and has many features to support most video/photo adjustments the average person would want to make to take a great shot. My wife likes it and she's not particularly tech-savvy. I'm a software developer so I tend to do well with technology.

I was drawn to the camera because of the HDD digital storage and it seemed to be high quality when compared with others that I experimented with in it's class without being bulky, or having an awkward or complicated user interface. Once I discovered this unit at my favorite technology retail store, I did a lot of research on the device - its features and usability, and tried to find it's weaknesses from any professional review I could locate. I did all my searching on the Internet. What I found was that nearly all the reviews were raving when compared with others (it was a leader in major publishers). The weakness that was pointed out by only a few reviews was that it seems to have an ever so slight difficulty

Sony 4.0MP Handycam High-Definition Camcorder with 2.7" Widescreen LCD - Silver
I bought this a week ago, and the best thing about the HDR-TG1 is the size and shape, they fit in my front pocket and I can take it any where I go. The reason I bought this camera was for its size and portablity and HD and it perfectly matches my requirement al though I was thinking I could use this for all purposes including still images but the still images are not good.

Pros:
Size, and Shape
Great user interface both the front buttons as well as the on screen
Great Video footage but not as good as u see on HD TV broad casts
Great charging and connecting to the computer, u dont need to charge battery seperately hence its always ready to use

Cons:
Bad still images, horrible in low light condition
Sony should have supplied the HDMI cable, and the compnent cable they applied is too small, and I had to buy an extender switch to connect to my 65inches TV
The provided software is useless, its so difficult to even trim video, u can as well throw it away, al though there are not much choice

Sony 4.0MP Handycam High-Definition Camcorder with 2.7" Widescreen LCD - Silver
Good portability, don't expect very bright high quality images since it's small lens.
Comparing to Sanyo Xacti HD1000 better in stabilizer, Sanyo is totaly un acceptable.
One little tip for people having problem with AVCHD Intall Media Player Classic ( google it to find it ) it's a 5.5 MB file then just change the file extension from .MTS to .mpg it worked on my Windows Media Player on Windows Vista.
But the play back was the best and not the actual quality was playedback by Windows Media Player. But it's good just to review what's been recorded, Sony Vegas 8.0 and Pinnacle editing softwares can recognize the format.

Microtek ArtixScan M1 Pro Scanner
The M1 Pro is a fine product that provides excellent quality digitized images of my old Kodachrome 35mm slides that date back to 1953. The software with the unit however required five "uploads" and five "uninstalls" before my new iMac would accept it on the sixth try. Further, I still haven't been able to upload the SilverFast Ai Studio software. The SilverFast is needed since the color calibration for the M1 Pro uses the SilverFast software...Grrrrr.

If I were buying it again I would not get the Pro for the extra hundred bucks. Since a second set of slide trays are not needed, all you are getting is a major headache with the SilverFast software.

Sony 4.0MP Handycam High-Definition Camcorder with 2.7" Widescreen LCD - Silver
I have this camera and a Canon HF10 so I'm going to lift some of the AVCHD-specific stuff from my HF10 review.

I bought the HF10 for it's super-fast focus when shooting my kids' sporting events. I bought the TG1 for it's superior portability. I'm happy to say both are awesome cameras. One big negative for the Sony camera is that 16gb of memory (Memory Stick Pro Duo Mark 2) costs 2.5 times as much for this camera as it does for the HF10 which uses SDHC. That's a complete rip off but no other HD video camera fits in your pocket like this one so that's the price you pay for portability. Battery life is another price you pay but I got every video I wanted, in great quality, from the beach this past weekend and had plenty of battery and memory to spare. If you're going to film long events this is not the camera for you. In still camera terminology think of it as pocket point-and-shoot and not an SLR.

This is a fantastic camera but people need to have more realistic expectations of what to
