Lenovo 2373c88 Thinkpad Laptop (Refurbished)-Thinkpad T42 Intel 1.7 512MB 40GB DVD-CDRW WiFi XP
+ 0 likes
This laptop has everything we wanted. I bought it for my son, since he takes internet classes and without a laptop it's almost impossible. I didn't want to spent a lot of money, and I did not want Windows Vista that comes with all brand new laptops. Now if you want Windows XP loaded on a new computer, it costs you $100 more.

Set up was easy, even though there was no manual since it is a refurbished model. But we were guided by on-screen menu, and it was a breeze.

This laptop has fingerprint recognition as an option for password, my son loved that.

It is completely web-ready, fast and light.
Totally great buy for the money we paid.

Kodak EasyShare W820 Wireless 8" Digital Frame with Home Decor Kit
+ 0 likes
I like this frame a lot. It's constructed really well and my photos look great on it. The onboard controls are good enough and they disappear gracefully when not in use. The frame supports all kinds of memory cards as well as a USB port for a thumb drive. And of course it supports Wi-Fi which is terrific. I have it downloading pictures from my Picasa Web Albums.

Unfortunately, the software that comes with the frame is not very good. It runs really slowly and is not very intuitive. That's not devastating because I decided to use Kodak's framechannel.com site to configure feeds for the frame. It's not great, but it works much better than the software. With either one, the menus and work-flow are frustrating at best.

The bottom-line : It works great for displaying photos loaded on a memory card or on a computer in my house. But it falls short of reasonable expectations when used to display photos from the internet.

Kodak EasyShare W820 Wireless 8" Digital Frame with Home Decor Kit

I bought this digital frame because it has been advertised as being compatible with macs on a number of web sites. It is not - software is not included in the packaging for macs and their website does not offer the "digital display software" needed for all the functions to work on a mac platform - you are paying for wireless capabilities that will not work!!! I am extremely disappointed. I tried calling the 800 number- I was on the hone for 49 plus minutes and got NO where. I suggest buying a much much cheaper digital frame from any other company - you are not getting what you pay for in this product.

I purchased this little Acer AspireOne for my husband. It is something he can use anywhere with out any problems. It is great for surfing the internet for research or to do some work at home. It is wonderful and does everything it said it would do. Oh the internet connects fast and there are no drops in connectivity.

Kodak EasyShare W820 Wireless 8" Digital Frame with Home Decor Kit

I received this unit for Christmas and seriously thought about sending it back. However, after several days of playing with it to figure out several issues that aren't adressed in the product manual or SW updatees I finally have it working well enough to give it a fair review based upon the 10/28/2008 firmware and 1.1.3.58 Easyshare PC software.

My anticipated use for this frame is to place it in a public area then connect to a PC wirelessly to change slideshows and background music on the fly during parties. The weak points for this use case appear to be:

1) Setup of Wireless connectivity. My experience was better than most with the frame connecting to an unsecured network and then to a secured net after enabling WAP. However, manually adjusting the network parameters resulted in an inability to re-establish communications with the frame stating my security was wrong even though I verified it meticulously. The corrective action for this was to restore the frame to factory defaults

Kingston 512MB Micro SD Memory Card with Adapter

Gave this as a 'stocking stuffer' gift to someone who already has several SD cards for camera, but nothing for the cell phone. Figured if the cell phone thing wasn't appreciated, it would wind up in camera use. It was a 'hit' - user appreciated flexibility of using it either in cell or camera -- either way able to stick it into the laptop for transfer.

Sandisk Sansa M230 512MB MP3 player with FM Tuner (Refurbished)

This was a gift for my 6 year old son for Christmas and he loves it! I can't seem to work my small ipod so my teenage daughter downloaded the songs for my son the first time but I was even able to do it after that! So simple. The only thing that has me stumped is he is constantly deleting his downloads and I can't figure out how! I do like this and would suggest every person try this before buying a pricey ipod.

Apple MacBook Pro with 15.4" Display

I purchased this notebook to replace my pre-existing Windows XP based laptop. Whenever I watched a movie and saw a celebrity working on a computer, it was always on a Mac. When you buy a notebook like this, you are buying a Hollywood Superstar.

WHAT IS IN THE BOX

Notebook
Instructions
AC Adapter

SETUP

When you turn on the notebook, there is an initialization process to register your notebook and allow you to password protect the computer. Right out of the box, the Macbook Pro works well. It is accompanied by iLife and iTunes. I initially updated iTunes and updated the operating system after placing my information to work wirelessly.

Operation

The notebook is so easy to operate. As a Windows operator since the Windows 1.0 inception, it was not a steep learning curve. In lieu of the Control button, you push the Command button.

The touchpad is generous and the various mouse gestures are a welcome addition. The keyboard is full-sized and buttons are extremely comfortable.

EVGA GeForce 9400GT 1GB DDR2 128-bit PCI-E 2.0 DirectX 10 SLI Ready Video Card

I had read other reviews posted here previous to purchasing this Graphics Card that boasted just how well it worked for such an amazing price. I have to admit, it's stellar for the pricetag. Most of the reviews were concerned with basic uses, however, so I wanted to create a review for someone like myself who was working on a budget to come up with a good gaming machine, but worried that "cheaper" might not cut it.

I play the online game World of Warcraft pretty extensively and purchased the following computer setup:

* AMD Phenom 9650 Quad-Core
* 640GB hard drive
* 7GB of DDR2 memory
* 64-bit Vista Home Premium
* NVIDIA GeForce 6150 SE 128MB

The graphics card was near useless, giving me perhaps 6 FPS in a majorly populated city and around 3-6 FPS during a 25 man raid. This was with all the settings turned down and virtually no UI enhancing addons. After installing the 9400 GT 1 GB, I'm able to use all those beautiful addons, turn all my grahpic settings to max and get around 19-38 FPS

Great little product especially for the price... We would recommend this product to others who would like to have an mp3 player that doesn't cost a fortune but you get a lot for the money.

Microsoft Xbox 360 Pro Console System

I've been playing video games since the NES, and for a long time I had put off buying a next gen system, considering the PS2 to be the end of the road for me: The PS3s were WAY beyond my budget, the 360s had a huge failure rate, and I just might be the only person on the face of the earth who never enjoyed the Wii.
Finally after eyeing all the titles like The Orange Box, Bioshock, and FEAR that I had wanted to play for so long, I caved and bought a 360 Arcade in November. My original plan was to spend less, save on the warranty, and upgrade with an HDD later. DO NOT DO THIS. It ended up costing roughly the same as the current 60GB pro bundle (only about thirty less) and that was with a used 20GB HDD from the original bundles. While you could buy an arcade along with a 60 GB Pro upgrade kit later for a total of three hundred currently, you'll still want to upgrade your video cable to at least component, and might (if you don't already have extra) want an ethernet cable too. The Pro comes

I love this card. Runs using my stock 350w Dell Internal Power Supply. Plug it in and go.

I edit lots of HD video with this card. It has sped the process dramatically. Using Windows Movie Maker I can see the edits immediately. Gone is the jerky play back in edit mode. Sure half that is due to my outstanding existing system. I would consider this card a must if your editing HD.

Play lots of Crysis with this. I am running with very high graphics settings and getting about 57-64 fps full screen 22" monitor. This is with a Q6600 2.4ghz quadcore 4gb ram. Gets a little Jerky but after rebooting things clean up nicely.

I got this before Christmas and am still trying to figure out how to load my music onto it. My fiance is now trying too. I hope I figure this out soon. It would have helped if it came with loading instruction. Actually any instructions would have been great.

Kodak EasyShare W820 Wireless 8" Digital Frame with Home Decor Kit

These reviews cover multiple Kodak frames for some reason. This review is specific to the Kodak EasyShare W1020 10-Inch Wireless Digital Frame.

After four days of fumbling with the Kodak EasyShare W1020, I've come to the conclusion that the wireless function is virtually worthless. I used to teach computer science at the college level. My son, who was with us for the holidays has a Ph.D. is computer science and works in the research division of a huge software manufacturer. Neither of us could get the wireless system to work reliably. So let's go over the positives and negatives:

The picture is nice and big but since it has the same pixel count as the 8-inch frame, the 8- inch frame will be sharper. Close viewing reveals some softness, but with a frame this large, you should stand back some and then it looks fine.

The touch screen is easier to use than a remote control, but it takes a bit of getting used to. On the whole, a plus.

Really, that's all I have to say that's positive

Apple MacBook Pro with 15.4" Display

As someone with about 20 years in IT, mostly on the server/desktop side, all Microsoft, I have to say that using my new Macbook pro has truly been a pleasure. I had considered getting a Mac for about a year and finally took the plunge a month or so ago. The setup was easy and using the computer itself is also easy. With parallels installed, I am still able to work in my PC based applications without any of the seeming lag that you normally see in any other virtualization product. I liked it so much, i recently bought my daughter a Macbook.

It was extremely easy to install in my XP computer, and it delivers great pictures. The board has 2 dvi connections, but it comes with adapters if you need them. With the price and specs, you cannot do better.
