This is my 3rd flat panel tv, and by far the best in terms of picture clarity and features.
I have no complaints. The picture is vivid, crisp, and satisfying.
There are plenty of hdmi, component, and other inputs so no worries there. And they all work, unlike my westinghouse unit. The unit was easy to assemble (4 screws to the base) the online menus are easy to use, and the price here at amazon was better than at any store. Free delivery and no sales tax were a bonus.
I don't use blueray discs so 720p is fine. The $400 premium for 1080p wasn't worth it to me.
Hint: Use a premium credit card that doubles the warranty from 1 year to 2. Panasonic warranty service is in-home or mail in, your choice.
Very pleased with this tv so far.

I teach film and wanted something that would enhance my viewing experience without overwhelming my medium sized, 14 wide by 20 living area. This TV is perfect and the sound, unlike some of the smaller Samsungs, is very good. While not the theatrical surround sound experience, the down facing speakers work well and produce realistic tones whether you are listening to voice or music. They also allow for a clean appearance which is further enhanced by the touch of red screen. If you are not the techie type and cringe at hooking up one more wire or don't want to lay out another $500 on sound, you should be quite happy with this set just the way it is.
My couch is about 12 feet from the screen, while the arm chairs go as close as 6. I find this distance just about perfect for watching the 50 inch screen. I've even had a few friends comment that they almost felt dizzy watching large, fast moving, objects on the screen. If you are wondering how big to go, I personally don't think paying $$$

After doing countless hours of research on the best TVs, LCD or Plasma, Pioneer or Panasonic, I came to the conclusion that Pioneer Plasmas are the best. And then after reading countless reviews on how amazing this TV is I finally decided to get one. It was definitely a hefty price tag, but from what I read, it was well worth it. After watching a couple blu-ray movies from my PS3 and playing Oblivion it simply did not meet my expectations. Granted my expectations were extremely high after reading the reviews. I had upgraded from a 42" LG LCD and the difference was just not worth the price tag. It is definitely better. I love this TV but I guess i was just setting my expectations too high. I guess I simply wanted the images to pop out of the TV. And I don't know, maybe I'm doing something wrong. Maybe my settings are wrong, or the calibration, but it's just not what I thought it was gonne be. If you have the $3k-$4k to drop on a TV, by all means, drop it on this one. But if you

I typed a huge review and I ran out of space. This really pissed me off - but I like this TV enough that I'm rewriting a shorter and different kind of review.
WHAT KIND OF GUY ARE YOU? I'm a guy that wants things done right! "Right" being the way I think it should be done, because I'm a guy that thinks I'm smarter than most other guys, even if I'm not. I'm a guy that's pissed off at Amazon because I wasn't allowed enough space to write my original massive super detailed review. I'm a guy that is irritated when I have to ask a waitress more than once for the same thing. I'm a guy that's pissed off when airlines charge for a second bag or for a beverage. I'm a guy that wants an iPhone more than anything but doesn't have one because I hate the way Apple is trying to force AT&T on me. I'm a guy that is planning to drop Comcast because they are planning to cap users internet usage even though I'll never come close to 250GB a month. I'm a guy that researches 20 different websites to find out

I didn't know much about televisions when I bought this on the recommendation of a friend who has one. As somebody who doesn't know much about televisions I can't tell you much about the color saturation, refresh rates, black levels, contrast, or indeed many other technical topics. I can tell you, though, that the TV is a joy to watch. Super-clear picture, great color (once you take it out of "dynamic" mode and put it into "movie" mode), and even switched off it's very attractive in a black minimalistic kind of way.
Amazon delivered early, a pleasant surprise. The delivery firm was helpful and careful, and did everything I'd hope for in terms of getting the thing out of the box and mounting it on the stand.
Two small disappointments, neither a big deal:
1. The remote is pretty lame. The one with this TV is altogether fully-featured but otherwise dull and unimaginative. No attention to ergonomics or usability whatsoever. I know, I know, just like most remotes... but I'm a TiVo user so

Forget about 1080p - it just doesn't matter for a screen this size or smaller. The set actually has a 1080p processor, but a 720p display. I saw this one next to the 1080p model running off the same feed and this set looked better. If you see this in the store, do not go by the terrible picture you see. Their feeds are horrible, and the settings on the set are set to vivid (which is totally off for colors/brightnress, etc).
Go to avsforum dot com and search for the thread on this particular model. Several people have posted settings that make this TV pop.
Here's my take on my set with only 50 hours of break in (plasma sets get better with time - 100-200 hours is the break in period)
Pros:
1. Picture - HDTV is outstanding, DVDs are better, and I have yet to get Blu-Ray. Standard def tv is pretty good on this set, though once we added the HD channels to our cable package, we no longer watch any sd programming except the kids, who watch cartoons (and they look good on this set). Out of

The battle wages on between LCD and Plasma, but I know I chose correctly when I picked up this television. I have had it now for over a month and I still am as mezmerized as I was on day one. The colors and picture quality are absolutely brilliant. I have a friend that has a 1080p LCD TV and it does not hold a candle to the overall picture quality of this plasma. Again, the one drawback to a plasma screen TV is that it has a glass front, so if you are planning on having this in a room with lots of light and window, reflections will be a problem, and you might choose an LCD. But if you have a TV area like mine, hands down this is the best value and quality. 3 HDMI inputs (2 back, 1 front), 2 component inputs (1 back, 1 front) and your regular cable and composite hook ups available on back as well. The menues are easy to navagate, and the remote is user friendly. This also has an SD card slot that can handle the SDHC cards up to 16gb so you can display your digital photos. The only

When I told my wife I wanted an HD Plasma she was happy to oblige...the only catch was we had to save up for it so we would have it all paid for when we bought it. What did that mean? We had to save for a YEAR! Was it worth it? You betcha!
It's amazing how much HDTVs improved in just 12 months! Had we bought it a year before we would have gone with a 720p Samsung like my parents have (also a fantastic TV), but that extra year helped prices go down. We paired up the TV with the Blu-Ray Player found in the Sony PS3 and man does it pop! You love sports? You absolutely have to get a Plasma...don't let anyone trick you into getting an LCD. The plasmas refresh their picture four times faster than any LCD. Don't get caught in the blur! Everything about this TV is awesome. Get it! Get it from Amazon! The delivery service is impeccable. There's no tax depending on where you live. You can't find it cheaper anywhere else. This TV is the way to go! You won't regret it. The touch

I purchased the 5020FD to replace my samsung 60 inch DLP. This TV is much better in everyway albeit smaller in size. You have to mount the speakers but that did not take long. The speaker quality by the way is great-- pioneer has been around since at least the 70's and they know how to make speakers. The picture is amazing-- needs some minor adjustments only. I have challenged the picture with my sony playstation 3, DVDs, and BluRays. There is no motion artifact which is troubling on LCDs. I was particularly pleased with bright whites on dark blacks-- rock concerts and movies like the Matrix and Harry Potter pixilate when lightning strikes or wands fight on LCDs but NOT on this plasma. I was very pleased with the price... currently $400-900 cheaper than best buy. 6ave delivered the TV promptly in 4 days. I am very pleased.

I recommend this TV and I recommend Amazon as a vendor. Initially I ordered the 46" LCD Samsung (650), it had intermittent display problems so I sent it back. Meantime my "research" revealed that many authorities prefer the picture quality of plasma to LCD. So I opted for this one, and I'm very happy with it. I'm convinced it offers a better picture than the LCD I started with, though it's difficult to say why. The LCD seemed to have deeper blacks (when viewed head-on, at least) and it was surely brighter. But the picture on this plasma seems less like a big flat computer monitor and more like a CRT. It has more depth of color. It can reproduce action sequences without gimmicky options like 120hz. In terms of screen size, I think 50" is plenty big if you intend to watch both TV shows and movies in a room of moderate size. TV shows (and ads) are designed to grab your attention on a small screen; with a 50" screen, the effect can be overpowering. But if you're looking for a dedicated movie

I just let go of a Sony CRT HDTV to purchase this, which I've had now for three weeks. I was slow to go to flat panel because of their notoriously poor rendition of blacks. I was right to wait, and this was the right product to wait for. I don't know how blacks could get any darker than the way they're displayed on this screen. In addition, what I thought was black on the CRT was often very dark blue, very dark green, etc... this TV delivers blacks but also nicely renders colors very close to black. Cons: I'm glad I don't have this screen in a bright room - there is some glare, though improved over earlier models - and the heat it puts out is surprising. But I think heat is one price you pay for going to plasma. Other nice touches: jpg and mp3 support. Haven't done the sound yet, but for jpg, just plug in a thumb drive, then point to the photos and ask for a slide show. Images, of course, have excellent resolution.

This is a great TV. I did ton's of research before I settled on this TV. It was between this and the Panasonic Viera TV with THX certification. The panasonic was more expensive. I went and looked at both side by side and could not tell the difference between the 2. The red "touch of color" is very subtle, and not an issue. This TV is phenominal!

The picture on this tv is incredible. The detail is amazing. It is extremely clear and makes watching television an extremely enjoyable experience, particularly sporting events. I would recommend this televison for anyone in the market for a plasma tv.

Let me start by letting you know that buying from Amazon really is the best experience. My experience goes beyond just the tv. My first tv arrived and when the delivery guys did the set up and turned on the power there was no picture. I simply refused the delivery, contacted Amazon, and a week later got a new tv delivered that works great. There was no questions, no extra charges, just great service.
As for the tv its self, it is the best I've ever seen. The blacks are as dark as you can imagine. When a movie fades to black in between scenes and you normally can still see the black bars on the top of the bottom, it doesn't happen with this tv. Everything goes completely black and you don't see a difference. In fact in dark scenes the black melds so well with the black bars you can't tell where the movie part begins and ends. As for the rest of the picture quality it is just as outstanding. I tried out a Harry Potter movie on blu ray and it was incredible. I could see stuff that

I have been researching HDTVs for what seems like forever, until this month when I finally pulled the trigger. You cannot go wrong with this TV. This is my first HDTV, but I consider myself fairly tech savvy and somewhat of an audiophile. That said I don't have any history with HDTVs so can't compare this TV with anything I've owned in the past, but rather friends' TVs or in store comparisons.
The negatives on this TV are as some may have already discovered; an inability to more finely calibrate this TV yourself, unlike the 5080 of last year or the Elites. That was kind of a downer given how much you pay for it. On the flip side, if you have it calibrated, I believe the professional can adjust these settings. Not 100% sure yet, but I may give that a shot at some point. Why would you want to adjust these settings at all from the way they come out of the box? Well, according to a few reviews, as well as the CNET review, Reds and Greens are not 100% accurate. This may be difficult

I just recently purchased the Pioneer Kuro PDP-5020 from Amazon and I couldn't have been happier. I ordered the TV on a Monday evening and I had the TV in my house on the Thursday of the same week. It was less than 72 hours from clicking the mouse to clicking the remote on the TV, which I find amazing. The TV was delivered by Eagle/CEVA and the delivery guys were very helpful in getting the TV into my 2nd floor bedroom.
I chose the 5020 Kuro after an exhaustive search of what TV would be the best for my room. I read many websites and AV forums and found the only thing people could agree on is that the Pioneer Kuro's have the best black levels out there period. Sure the Kuro is a little more expensive than sets from Panasonic or Samsung but over the life span of the TV the difference in price is minimal. So I say go with the best and don't look back.

Every good thing you read in the reviews about this TV is validated when you view the picture.Sharp high resolution, good sound quality for built in speakers and an almost infinite picture tuning capability to customize the viewing preferences of the owner. If you want more contrast you can adjust it to where you will need sun glasses! Packaging and delivery was good and on time.White glove delivery is as stated , however you should know that a $20 advance tip was provided in order to encourage the two men to mount the TV on the enclosed pedestal. It is impossible for one person to do it alone given its weight.Had I not done so , I believe they would have resisted mounting it. I have heard others say the same thing. This is not a complaint however, because Amazon has always demonstrated to me that they are customer focused, stand behind their products and are hands down the best on line seller. After the tip , the agents spent 20 minutes tuning the TV to my preferences so it was well worth

Here is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.....according to my observations and general tests. I ordered this Pioneer plasma tv from Amazon on July 16th and promplty received it via CEVA trucking on July 18th. As soon as the delivery guys opened up the packaging and, to my immediate delight, I noticed that this plasma set comes with the stand pre-installed. At this time, I do not have any intentions of putting this plasma set on the wall; for those of you who want to install it on the wall please keep this in mind as you will now have to take the plasma stand off - screws and all. The manual states that all PDP-5020 sets have the stand pre-installed.
*This plasma set is replacing a Samsung 56 inch DLP**
Let the fun times begin: After turning on this set, it was apparent that this Pioneer PDP-5020 is the real deal. The black level is so deep and dark that I was left speechless for quite a few minutes. I tuned in to Cinemax HD and watched The Heartbreak Kid for 10 minutes.....WOW,WOW,WOW!

This TV is great. I have HD channels on my cable and it seems that the signal is the weak link in resolution, not the TV. The resolution is great and I don't understand why people pay more for 1080 when 720p looks almost identical from four feet away.

I have been the proud owner of the Panasonic TH-50PZ85U plasma TV set for about a month.
This is my first flat-panel television and I switched from a 27 inch CRT Sony Trinitron.
Pricing, Ordering and Delivery:
I had been monitoring the price of this set ever since it got released earlier this year.
I had many opportunities to look at the set with my own eyes at Best Buy and other retailers but the price from most of these retailers was a little high, when considering that I would need to add sales tax as well as shipping (I found out that the box with the television would never fit in my car!).
So, when I saw the attractive price - with no sales tax - on Amazon, I jumped on it. Also, the free "while glove" delivery was a big plus as I had read too many horror stories about people getting a damaged or broken television and spending way to much time and energy to finally get a replacement.
The price on Amazon was several hundred dollars less than most local retailers.
Ordering was easy.
