This is a quality product. It's packaged well, it installs easily and it works flawlessly. The included thermal solution (heatsink and fan assembly) fits well and keeps the CPU temperature nice and low without making fan noise. The heatsink has factory pre-installed thermal compound, so you don't need any "heatsink grease" during installation.
A few "facts" about this (and other Intel Core 2 Quad) processors:
* Performance speed is better, but not a LOT better than a dual core. This is because most Windows programs only use one core anyway.
* Programs that are written for a multi CPU system (such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom) will be screaming fast when run on this chip.
* A quad core CPU is actually 2 dual cores in one package.
* This CPU is "locked" (it cannot have it's clock multiplier changed for "overclocking").
* To get an "unlocked" CPU, you must buy a $1000+ "Quad Core Extreme" chip (i.e. a QX6700).
* This CPU is not supported by older motherboards. MAKE SURE you

If you are going to update to this processor you might as well just get a new rig. Your mobo needs to support Quad processing to have this. This means if you have a Pentium 4 machine or a Duo, leave it as is and concentrate on a completely new system instead. Now is the time to upgrade anyway so for most this spells a new PC. Many of the latest games such as Crysis, COD4 and Bioshock put demands even on high-end rigs. To top it off you need Vista for Directx 10 (only 9 is available on XP) and it in turn is processor demanding. The Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 turns these problems on their head. Combine this processor with the GeForce 8800 and up to 4GB of RAM and you will be running top end games on their best settings. Overclock and you max those settings out but even without overclocking this processor is very satisfactory. Vista can boot in under 30 seconds. Office opens instantly and PDF files with 300 pages of color can be page flipped throughout without any freezing or visible refreshing.

I like BOTH AMD and INTEL and usally buy what ever I get the best deal on. I moved from a Intel e6600 overclocked to 3.2GHz to the stock clock 2.3GHz 9600 Phenom and when burning video my e6600 would run at 100% most of the time. I got a SMOKIN deal on the 9600 Phenom and a am2+ motherboard so I tried it out and WOW !!!!!! Burning dvd`s, streaming video and defraging the harddrive and playing BlackSite Area 51 all at the same time and the processor only got upto 78% and 128`f. A quadcore for $200 dollars is cheap!!! I paid $325.00 for my e6600 when it first came out. If you looking for a processor for editing and NOT overclocking this is a FANTASTIC processor for the price!!!!

this is by far one of the best cpus out there, my primary use is gaming and it's simply great almost every game in the market will run perfectly with this processor, besides everything runs by far much faster and multitasking is piece of cake for this processor, great stuff!!!

This is my first build. Had used AMD CPU's before and I'm very pleased with this processor's performance. You must be a hardware freak or be running highly specialized applications to ask for more. Great for media and serious muti-tasking.

Exellent laptop with a dedicated graphics card, twin drives and plenty of memory. I have loaded this laptop up for use with my job, and yet it is an excellent gamer for downtime during business trips.
Plenty of features, full size keyboard with a separate numeric pad.
I highly recommend it.

Hi i bought this item from amazon, and i can tell you that it feels rather fast but it isin't quite a bit what i was hopping for, i was one of those who where waiting for the Q9450 and the E8400 and i gladly came to this because of th price cut and second the avalibility, the new 45 nm aren't that great if i wanted to buy a damaged processor like the E8400 because of the temperature issue i would rather stay with something that really works like the Q6600, not very fast for normal computing but strong and powerful for games and video/photo editing, ripping dvds and installing vista in 8 minutes. note using xp with patch for multicores and vista. VISTA WORKS BETTER THAN XP EVEN IF XP HAS THE MULTICORE PATCH INSTALLED, NOTE: AND ALSO I HAD A CELERON 420 OVERCLOCKED WITH A MSI P35D3 (DDR3) 1.6 GHZ TO 3.2 GHZ AND KNOW I HAVE THE Q6600 OVERCLOCKED TO 3.4 GHZ, I REALLY DONT FEEL THE DIFFERENCE IN POWER. JUST A NOTE FOR THOSE WHO ARE CURIOUS. (AMAZON SENT ME THE NEW PACKAGING FOR THE QUADS

Just buy it, at this price is insane!!!!, forget the e8400, or the e6750, or any dual cores, i have them both and i still feel the quad much stronger and running vista ultimate with 3% of resources and 0-1% of resource on each core, is insane, while the dual core e8400 is always running 5-7% resources because it has lower cores, the quad core q9450 will be another great buy, not because of the ghz, but because of the new arquitecture, it will improve many things, but this baby for the price is unbelievable. buy it. REMEMBER A BETTER STEPPING RULES!!! NOT A C1 LIKE E8400 AND WITH THE TEMP ISSUES WHO WANTS IT?, i'll talk to amazon if they can let me return it again to buy another quad for another system.

This is an amazing machine for the price. I've only been using it a few days, but I've made a lot of copies. I had not realized how handy it is to have a sheet-feeder. I've been copying legal-size paper -- not scannable on the scanner platform on most copiers, including this one -- but with a whir, it sucks the legal page right in, and reduces it to fit on 8.5"x11". Really convenient.
And, with the instant-on function, it is, as the other reviewer pointed out, ready to go instantaneously. You push the "power saver" button to turn it on, and it's ready to go in less than a second. Then you hit the button again, it powers down, and sits ready to be used at a moment's notice next time. Very impressive and convenient. And the copy quality is fabulous.
Another plus with this unit is that it comes with a FULL toner cartridge; most of these "deals" in "all-in-ones" (or, "some-in-ones," as I call them) really only have TEASER prices because they come with an only partially filled

The miniSDHC card has exceptional storage capacity. It is amazing how much data can be compressed in such a little space. It is not like the human brain but micro technology has certainly made its advances over time.
I would recommend this product to anyone who needs a small memory card for a great price.

E6750 was the best Intel CPU with terrific price/performance ratio. It outperforms the infamous E6600 and easily outshines Q6600 in gaming area.
With Intel's aggressive marketing plan this year, E6750 is replaced by its own brother E8400.
E8400, code name Wolfdale, is a 45nm Core product. Several tests have already revealed that E8400 performs better, consume less power and is way cooler. (good for overclocking.) I fully understand this review is about E6750 not about promoting E8400. However, when you look at the price, you have to compare them together.
As of today, you can get E6750 retail box for $187 from Amazon. Surprisingly, add two dollars more, you can get a retail boxed E8400 (before tax though.)
What it means is you're no longer paying less money for the best performance if you choose E6750. This might upset E6750 die hard fans but technology is a cruel world. And you definitely don't want to end up paying older technology with the same money you can get a newer one.

I've seen way too many people being convinced about Yorkfields by the paper. I, however, oppose going to 45nm at all, yet.
Price vs. Specs
Think about it, what do you get from and for how much can you get a Q6600 these days? A Q6600 is about $270-$280 on average and it's almost certain that the B3 stock has been flushed so you can be safe to assume that it's a G0. It does come with a 1066MHz FSB and most importantly, a 9x multiplier.
Now looking at the 45nm version we can throw out the Q9300 as it has less L2 cache (only 6MB) and a 7x multiplier. The only comparable quad would be a Q9450 it seems, with 12MB L2 cache and 1333MHz FSB. Given that Q6600 wasn't exactly priced at what the early chart said ($266) because then you'd have to buy so many of them, it's pretty safe to assume a Q9450 would be around $350 when it surfaces.
We've seen so many 45nm quads (or was it merely a few?) getting 4GHz on air. That all sounds good, don't you think?
Overclocking
I doubt it can be as good. Why

Scripts run three times as fast compared to my old P4 2.8Ghz HT, but as far as everyday performance difference it has been a little disappointing. Windows still takes over 30 seconds to start up, and Adobe InDesign takes about 30 seconds to start compared to about 40 seconds with my old P4. I was expecting a little better.

I purchased this laptop on christmas day and received it today jan 17 (last estimated delivery date... cuttin it a little close... whew). Anyway, it worked great out of the box. It has all the specs listed above and is more then sufficient to run most of the modern applications and entertainment media including games. I've tested guildwars so far and it runs without so much as a hickup. I will be trying out oblivion shortly as soon as pc cillian is finished installing.
As for the machine itself, I was actually surprised to find that there was a fingerprint reader and remote control included with the computer. Neither of those were listed (from what I saw) and both were part of the system. The screen is a little dimmer then I'm used to, but it's excellent in general. Vista will definitely take some getting used to, but it can only get better. It's aero interface runs perfectly and looks decent. The system only shows that 3 gigs of ram are in use, but digging deeper, it displays 2 sticks

I did not purchase my G0 Q6600 from Amazon. Back in late October, 2007 the G0's were scarce, so I went with a vendor who guaranteed that I would get one (versus the distinct possibility of getting the older "B3" version of the processor with most other vendors, including Amazon).
For the uninitiated, the usefulness of a quad-core CPU versus the more ubiquitous (and less expensive) dual-core version is dubious for most desktop users. Most applications are not multi-threaded and therefore are not able to make use of the extra CPU cores packed onto the Q6600. Your operating system (Windows, Apple OSX, Linux, etc) can, to some extent, "balance" (sometimes) different tasks between cores, in which case a multi-core CPU can yield noticeable advantages.
However, many software developers are adding "multi-thread" capability to future versions of their applications to take advantage of the new processors. Therefore, at this moment, a quad-core CPU is the best bet for "future-proofing" your computer

I was attracted by the flashy look of this laptop at the beginning. But later I was so depressed. I don't know how this laptop was tested.
1. If anyone just types an email with this laptop, he or she can find how inconvenient it is. The super wide touch pad is easily touched when you are typing, which makes the typing very weird. Sometimes you might jump to another line due to the touch on the touch pad by accident. I was so annoyed that I turned off the touch pad. This function is funny, maybe the designer has found that it makes the typing not possible. I just want to ask the designer of this laptop - have you really tested the functions? It is a nightmare when I have to work with it 8 hours every day. It does improve my tolerance in another way.
2. Weird settings of ports. The earphone ports are on the front! I don't know why it is designed like this. I feel so bad to have the earphone plugs occupy a part of my table where I want to use my notebook to write something on.
3. Unbalanced

The processor is very good and you can learn more about that over the internet.
The problem is Amazon. The processor has a new revision (G0) for some 4 months now but Amazon is still selling the old and much worse one (B3). I feel cheated for having bought this processor here paying the same price as other people do when buying the much better G0 from other retailers.
BEWARE!
