great camera - really happy with it. Easy to operate, got the features I was looking for: large zoom, "wide angle" via in camera stitching, dual stabilization, high mega pixels, pocket size, good price, good quality, nice design.

Everyone else has already covered the details, so I'll just add my voice to the chorus. Particularly, I am amazed at the photos shot at ISO3200 and the fact that you can get something truly usable at ISO6400.
Also, the feel of it in your hands is terrific.

During the first month until the Auto Focus stopped working, I was very impressed with this dslr and Nikkor lens.
Then suddenly the AF would not respond in the middle of outdoor shooting. I am waiting to hear what Nikon service center has to say. Searching a bit on the web I could read other D300 owners complaining about the same fault.
If other people write about this issue I can guess this is not a rare case of technical failure, but rather a sign of insufficient manufacturing and quality level -and this should not happen with a camera of this class. So overall I am disappointed with Nikon.

OVERVIEW:
I purchased this laptop because it has a large amount of memory and hard drive space (4GB memory, 320GB hard drive), it has a dual core Pentium processor, and also important is a separate graphic system (NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS) that doesn't suck performance like on other laptops.
It comes installed with Vista Home Premium, which is the basics + multimedia (similar to XP Multimedia Edition in product positioning), and it comes with a folder of installers and drivers, should you want to back that up and install your own clean version of Vista without the fluff or junk.
Some nice things about the laptop is that is sports 4 USB ports and a firewire port for access to external devices, and has the newer PC Card expansion slot. It has a DVD recorder with BlueRay playback (haven't tried it yet), decent speakers (Altec Lansing), memory card reader, HDMI port, S-Video, and the standard modem and ethernet port. The coolest thing, should you need it to store all your music and videos,

First of all I need to say that I don't own this camera. I own a Canon EOS 40D and I am very pleased with it. D300 is in most aspects at least as good as 40D and in many aspects better, enough to justify the price difference. I had the Nikon for a few days and took some shots. It has amazing ergonomics and image quality. The feature set is fantastic.
Highly recommended.

The computer arrived in good condition. The box was partially open, but nothing was missing. I think HP could have done a better job with the box. The computer is very fast. I think the fact that it has 4 GB of ram helps. It has room for a second dvd player and the media drive works great. I bought 500GB drive and now I have 1.5 TB of storage space. Sweet! I was replacing a 4 year-old laptop and I wanted a much faster computer and I also wanted to be able to play blu-ray disks. Windows vista on the other hand is very disappointing. I am unable to play most blu-ray and old dvd disks. I looked in the internet for an answer and I found that many users have the same complaint. Apparently the controversial Digital Rights Management is to blame. Vista will stop playing DRM content if an unverified component is detected or suspected. It also decreases the quality of video under certain circumstances. I do not understand much about this, I only want to play high definition videos in my 24" monitor.

In my opinion, the effusive accolades given to this camera were well earned. I was skeptical until I used it. After all, there are lots of good cameras to choose from: Fujifilm, Olympus, Pentax and Sony, not just the leading duo Nikon and Canon. In fact, this review includes good alternatives to the D300 for prospective shoppers of mid and high-end DSLR cameras. I will begin with Nikon's D300 since it was the best choice for me. You are more important than the tool. But if you want to make the best photographs you can and enjoy doing it then the tool can make a difference in assisting you. Some tools are also easier to use and some are built to last longer - camera bodies are no exception - you see the difference in the price tag. The Nikon D300 does not just do more, it does more that you choose it to do in customizable features. It is no longer almost exclusively a question of optical glass configurations determining everything we see that matters when the D300 camera body assists them

I purchased the Nikon Coolpix s550 a few days before a vacation trip, so did not have time to read the manual. It takes great pictures. I tried a few of moving objects at a distance just for fun and they come out very clear. I highly recommend this camera.
I read several reviews and found many of them very helpful. I do not think the "ISO noise" is valid for a regular joe photographer also battery loading difficulty is not valid battery loads easy and charges quickly.
This is a great little camera, the battery lasts a long time between charges & with a 4 gig SD (add separately) it holds a buttload of pictures. I like it & in fact it fits so well in my pocket I have taken it with me the last few days of a trade show - got some pics I would not have gotten with a bulkier camera because I would not have wanted to lug a big camera.

I am very pleased with this very small, compact Nikon camera. The telephoto, and wide angle are exceptional.. With the added free shipping, to the already low price, the value was superb.. A++ Brian

I had a hard time justifying buying this camera because I already own a couple of very nice cameras. However, I often find myself wishing I had a camera that was compact enough to carry with me where a full blown camera and bag was just not practical or outright difficult. When the impulse side of me won out, I went to the store and started comparing small compact cameras. I wanted as much zoom and quality in as small of a package as I could get. The sales person and I ended up on the floor with several cameras out of the boxes comparing the different features. The Olympus Stylus 840 won out for several reasons but the surprise was when I got it home and got to play with it for a few days. Photography was my father's hobby and he spent many years trying to teach me the ins and outs of f-stops, shutter speeds, etc. I understand the concepts but was never any good in practice. When it came to shooting a real event (not just playing with the camera), I always went back to the automatic

This is an awesome camera, but beware of ordering it from Amazon. Like another reviewer, I received mine in an extra large box with just a couple of air bags thrown in like an afterthought. They did absolutely nothing to protect it. The camera bounced around inside the carton like dice in a cup. There isn't any obvious damage but I will be wondering if there are subtle issues that will crop up down the road. This is inexcusable. I'm a long time Amazon customer, but I'll think long and hard before ordering anything fragile or delicate from them again.

This little player was a big surprise to me. Have you ever seen a super tiny electronic device that seems to do more than is possible for it's tiny size? Well, this certainly fits into that category. To illustrate how tiny this thing is, the size of the circular dial on the front of it (the blue glowing circle) is slightly smaller than a quarter. The player itself is super thin too. So here are a few more reasons why this player is amazing:
Pros:
-Super Tiny and Thin
-Sound quality is great
-Built in Radio
-Built in Microphone
-Built in Clip (hence the name) and perfect for jogging
-Super bright 2 color Led Screen (it's probably organic LED)
-Plug & Play (at least it was for me)... just like a USB drive
-Long lasting internal battery (my guess is at least 8 hours play time)
-Charges through standard Mini-usb to USB cable.
-Amazing price for all the features it includes.
Cons:
I honestly don't have anything bad to say about this player, and I swear that I don't work for Sandisk. I kind

I wanted to upgrade from my D-50 and seriously thought about a D-80 and then when the D-60 came out looked at that. This is more expensive than the D-50 (which I love - but is going to my daughter) or the D-80 or D-60, but what an awesome camera.
The metering system is fantastic. I use it to shoot a lot of sports, high school football games and Yankee games. Its fast, it takes beautiful shots even at night from the outfied.
It also takes every Nikon lens.
What more can you ask for. If upgrading from another Nikon this this is the camera to get.

I bought this computer primarily for photo and video editing and so far, my results have been excellent. Processing and DVD creation that used to take 1 - 2 hours on my 1.7 Ghz machine, takes between 4 and 13 MINUTES!
I did have some minor problems changing over to the Vista operating system, mainly configuring my video inputs using the Vista 'Media Center'. I "fooled" the Media Center so that I could record using the 'composite' connections in the end, but I made things a LOT easier by going to the webpage of the TV Tuner card (Haupauge) and downloading the control programs that normally ship with the card - they did NOT come already installed on the computer! Once I did this, it was VERY easy to record TV from ANY of the inputs - including the 'composites'. The program even made it easy to automatically find and configure the TV channels that came "over the air", so that you could easily use the computer as a DVR to automatically record TV OR Radio shows.

I have been looking for a small laptop with Wi-Fi and Windows XP, that will fit inside the small safe in the staterooms on Carnival cruise ships. The Asus eee PC with XP is it! The Carnival safe measures about 10W x 9H x 8D inches; good for passports, medications, cash, PDA and other small items.
I did a lot of research on the Web, read reviews, and found some units for sale on Amazon, Best Buy, and other online stores. BestBuy.com led me to believe that the units were only available online, with no store pickup.
A few days ago, I was at the local Best Buy, looking for a part, when I discovered that they had some Asus eee PCs in stock. I bought the black eee PC 4G with pre-installed Windows XP. Their return policy was 14 days with a 15% restocking charge, if it was returned because I didn't like it. Seemed like a safe bet to me, so I bought it.
It was set up in minutes, most of the time performing the Windows XP user setup. The Asus functions as well as my other laptops,

I had one just like this with only(!) 2GB only it was a Rixxo Mambo brand. The functionality was identical though the buttons are differently placed. My son broke his (he's not real gentle with stuff) so I gave him mine and bought this. It plays MP3s and WMAs very well. I use it through my car radio (external input on the front) and it sounds beautifully clear and clean. It also plays podcasts very nicely so that when you turn it off then on in the middle of one it picks up exactly where it left off - almost to the syllable. Doubles as a USB drive if you mistreat it as my son did and break a button.
It also claims the ability to delete songs without going to iTunes or WMP on your computer and the ability to jump to different folders according to the well written instructions though I don't use those features since I just want to hear whatever I put on in any old order. Since it is about 1/4-th the cost of the 4GB iPod or Zune I am quite happy with it.

This is the perfect camera for an advanced amateur.
The main strengths are:
(1) the excellent ergonomics and design: the camera controls are perfectly laid out. This makes the camera feel very fast and responsive. Everything about the camera is designed to allow you to change settings quickly and effortlessly. An example: the auto-ISO feature changes completely how you shoot in quickly changing lighting. Think about shooting sports in a stadium where half the field is covered in shadow - with auto-ISO you can set your parameters and then forget about the camera and just worry about catching the action. It also features endless customization which is great when you have to live with your camera day and night - if something in the interface annoys you, just change it to what you like.
(2) 100% viewfinder: a pleasure to use. Framing is perfect and the size of the image seems huge. No, it's not like an F6 or D3, but it is the best cropped-sensor viewfinder to date. You can buy a

I researched a lot before buying this product. I found good reviews but very few people have bought the product. But I was not disappointed after buying this product. The sound quality is great and noise cancellation feature is great as well. I like the software its as simple as dropping the files in the folder.
While listening to songs I could hear many new sounds in the song which i did not know existed

The D300 was quickly delivered. Everything was in the original packaging. This is an upgrade from my previous D70 which was a great camera as well. But the D300 image quality is amazing. Good features/quality for price.
