Overall I've enjoyed this camera, but there are a couple of shortcomings:
1. AVDHD codec (.m2ts file extention)is not supported by the majority of popular players and editing software, including WMP and quicktime. Additoinally, the software included with the camera, which ostensibly provides basic viewing and editing/disc authoring functions, is terrible to the point of being virtually useless. If you buy one of these cameras you will need to buy some fairly expensive editing software if you plan on viewing your footage on anything besides the camera itself.
2. Some parts of the camera have a cheap feel, such as the pull-away dust covers over the aux microphone and output jacks - these do not fit snugly on my unit and will come out of position, exposing the jacks, just from shaking the camera. The selection dial next to the screen is too small for average man-size fingers and it's action has a loose, undapened (cheap) feel to it. Although I can't complain with the performance of

I originally purchased this for my 9 year old because the kids computer was losing keys and was sufficiently outdated that it would not run some of the games like the new versions of Zoo Tycoon. I liked the idea that this would have a more durable "kid-friendly" form factor. However, it is woefully underpowered and frankly, not significantly more durable than some of the comparably priced Acer or Asus systems. In addition, the CTL, Acer Aspire and Asus EEe do not have DVD/CD drives which is very inconvenient if you want to run children's games which require the original disk be in the drive in order to run.
I came across an Acer Extensa which is a dual AMD with 2 GB memory. I bought the Extensa at Best Buy for 399 which is less than the CTL or the Asus EEe and the Acer Aspire and it has better specs. It has a larger 14" screen and it is a comparable size to the CTL. While the Extensa comes with Vista and is an "ok" speed, if you wipe it and install Windows XP -- you have a system

Although I own a laptop, I wanted something smaller and more portable for downloading pictures from my digital camera card when I'm traveling. That was my #1 reason for wanting a portable media player.
I read a lot of reviews for the Digital Foci Picture Porter Elite and Epson P-5000 before deciding which one to buy. My assessment was that the Epson was actually somewhat better (at almost twice the price); but the Picture Porter was also a very good choice. My budget being what it is, I bought the 80Gb Picture Porter Elite from Amazon. With their free shipping, Amazon had the best price I could find on the Internet.
For my purposes, I stand by my decision to purchase the Picture Porter Elite. On the other hand, I am neutral as to whether on not I would recommend this item to a friend. That would really depend on how my friend intended to use it.
Below is a list of things I consider to be pros/cons of the Picture Porter Elite.

After receiving the laptop I had to put a new CDRW drive in the one that was with it was bad. Then after 4 or 5 times starting the computer it kept getting a blue screen. I tried to reinstall the OS but evidently had to replace the hard drive. It is of my opinion that this computer was junk and as such it would've been more cost effective to get a brand new one. I would not recommend any laptop overstock sells. This is not the first time I had trouble with a computer from overstock and I have purchased alot.
Thanks

I purchased the HG10 through Amazon to do video auditions which require download to my computer. Amazon got the camera to me within 24 hours. Other than some terrible instructions, the camera worked great and I was totally satisfied with it. The problem came when I tried to download to my computer which has an AMD processor. I exceeded all specs, but couldn't get the Corel download software to work. After numerous calls to both Canon and Corel, I gave up. Corel said I had loaded the software and therefore wanted $15 to give assistance. I tried to explain that it had never worked at all. Canon said they couldn't find anyone who could intercede. I also developed a probelm with the USB connection on the camera, and that was the last straw, so I returned it to Amazon. My return was handled promptly and Amazon refunded the full price including their shipping and they also refunded my cost of return shipment.

I took the camera to China to film the Olympics and have come back with some great clips. Filmed in the pool (and my son in it!), basketball (the Dream Team!), tennis (Venus) and of course, Beijing the city, so no complaints - great quality and good sound.

This is apparently one of the most popular models currently on the market, and from my experience there is good reason for this.
First is ease of use. While it took me a while to browse through the instruction manual, when I actually started trying out the various functions, I found it surprisingly easy to set up modes/lighting conditions/resolutions/switch between still and movie/etc. The function button/+ key navigation took only a few minutes to get used to, and the on screen descriptions of what you're selecting have enough detail that you don't have to be a veteran user familiar with all the acronyms associated with picture taking to figure out what each item is. The camera is quite light and easy to hold, even for extended time periods, and the LCD display was quite visible even in bright sunlight. The zoom control is conveniently available to your fingers while holding it, and the zoom control itself is neither too sensitive nor too slow to react, and the zoom speed mode adjust

I was looking for a Camcorder that:
a) Did both still images and video reasonably well
b) Gave me the ability to walk into any event with only one device to carry (kids soccer games to parties to a 2 week vacation)
c) Easy to use, with good picture quality
d) Minimal hassles all the way from shooting the video/stills to downloading and modifying the video/stills.
d) Wasn't bleeding edge! So, I was paying through my nose.
e) Wouldn't be outdated in a matter of a year.
This lead me to the Canon HG10. It is an excellent Camcorder with really good video capture. The optics on this camera are great. The 10X optical zoom was just at the edge of recording steady video while holding it.
Highlights:
1) Stunning video
2) Still images look very good (not great)
3) Zoom serves our needs for most indoor shooting. Not great for outdoor but adequate and we have not run into a need where the action was not captured in detail.
4) Video compression using AVCHD makes for ample recording time

I bought this product to use mainly as a way to carry movies around on vacation for my children. It works great for that and much more. I don't know if the kids are going to get to use it. I am very impressed with the quality of the playback. It could be a little more user friendly, but I managed to figure it out easily enough. Also, you get more than enough playing time on the battery. I have watched two full length movies without rechargeing the battery. It has nice sound as an mp-3 player as well.

Just a little history about me and my use of the software. I was a .mac user prior to mobile me. I switched over from pc about a year ago and have enjoyed the transition. I really like not being asked to fix everyone else's pcs any longer because they are tired of me saying, "Yeah, I don't have that problem on my mac."
Now the review. What is with all of the hating of this product? I love it. It pushes to my ipod touch, it works well on all of my computers. I do not understand why people are still griping. Did the roll out of this new product go smoothly? No, not in the least but all is well now. It was a rocky transition but Vista is still in transition nearly two years after a roll out.
For those unluckly 2% that had real mobileme problems, yes, you had it rough for a few days but the rest of us were mostly mad because it did not get started until a day or so after we expected.
Benefits
The push feature on email, address book, and calendar are great. I can make a change

I was like most here when MobileMe was launched...it was a nightmare...about the worse product launch I've seen in some time, if not all time. Couldn't get email, web apps didn't load, iPhone set up would crash, etc. Apple was slow and muted to respond.
But that was then...July 11.
As of now (Aug. 11), just about everything works great for me. My email is stable and functioning. My contacts are all there. Push calendars, contacts and email works perfectly and instantly with my iPhone, including my Entourage/Exchange items. Syncing between my office desktop and personal laptop is flawless (which by the way, what's the big gripe about a 15 minute interval between PC syncs?! When is it critical for you to have synced information on 2 or more computers within 15 minutes?!).
There are definitely things that need improving like the dual listings on Exchange/iCal-Contacts entries on the iPhone; the ability to have shared calendars (which right now is limited to CalDAV server solutions like

It might look cute, and it does exactly what it claims to do, but look at the price. You can get laptops with stiffer hardware specs at Dealnews or others sites for the same or a little more in price. I don't see the rationale for paying that much for inferior hardware when vendors are still trying to get laptops from 3 years ago out of inventory, all of which have better specs than this cute little system. It does what it says, but that does not make it a value.
On this very same site, you can get the ASUS Eee PC 900 16G which has double the RAM, a better screen, a 16GB SSD, an extra USB port and costs $50 dollars less.
Looking at this makes me want to go put on a Steve Gutenberg fan-shirt and watch Short Circuit.

Alright so i just wanted to put my opinion on here about the PS3. I recieved it a few days ago i was impressed with the design of the console. i mean yeah i saw pictures of it on here but its way better when its right in front of you. Everything was easy to set up, it took a few mintues to get the whole running. Thank god i didn't have to buy the HDMI cable (My 47 inch had already). When i turned it on everything was easy to navigate through. The main menu is really nice, very easy to understand. I immediately went on the web just to see how good it is. and i thought it was actually pretty good. the playstation store is really nice, u get to dowloads a bunch of demos, get old games like PS1 games, u get to prviews for movies and much more. I read that some people thought it was noisy, not in my case it did not have the fan noise. With my purchase of the PS3 i ordered 3 games with it, NCAA Football 09, GTA 4, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune. I have yet to play any of them, but i am

I bought the PS3 as my exclusive Blu-Ray platform after judging it with the newest players that came out in July 2008. The PS3 does everything better than the stand alone players that I've seen and toyed with. What stands out with the PS3 to me is the fact that you have a powerful processer that is dedicated to the best 1080P picture posible while decoding the highest quality audio to send to your receiver instead of bitstreaming it to boot. I'll tell anyone that playing the PS3 signal on my Sony XBR4 with 120Hz motion flow and routing sound through my Onkyo TX-SR705 with 7.1 surround will make a beliver out of most audiophiles. what I find most attractive about the PS3 is the fact that it is upgradable to the latest Blu-ray profiles and it decodes the latest audio codecs out there. Sony says they will always support the PS3 with the latest Blu-ray profiles on the market. I own a XBOX 360 elite and a Wii and will tell you that I prefer gaming on my 360 by a thin margin due to the feeling

I love mac and apple products. But mobile me is a complete dud. I had .mac since 2007 and it was converted to mobile me.
I spent two hours on the phone will apple care yesterday, they got a specialist and still they could not get my account to work.
I have data lost that still has not been recovered. The web interface still is not working.
I hope this will one day be a good product, but right now it is awful. It is very frustrating that it simply doesn't work.

I'd been contemplating a camcorder for several months, and when the funds became available, after careful thought, I bought this one. Why:
1) The buil-in 40 Gig hard drive is a huge blessing. More than adequate for my needs
2) Small size and ease of use and learning for a first timer like me
3) A lot of good features for the price
4) Better optical zoom than many in this price range (42X optical, 2000X digital)
5) More than acceptable sound quality (I may even add a mic later to enhance this)
I was also aware of some of the limitations of such a unit. For lighting, I did purchase a small LCD movie light that definitely helps in dim situations, (I may een get an infra-red light for night shots).
Ah, the infamous enclosed software question. Simple, I DON'T USE IT!
Instead, I just simply copy the video files onto my 500 Gig external HD when the unit is hooked up to my PC. Then, I edit them in different software altogether (in my case, uLead/Corel Video Studio 11, which works way better

Since blu-ray has obviously won the latest format wars, it made my decision pretty easy actually. With the 360 having monumental failure rate problems, and choosing the loosing format to support it was even easier.
I actually bought my ps3 at costco in a bundle pack that included a monster hdmi cable, an extra controller, and the bluetooth remote. Considering everything that the ps3 can do it's an amazing package.
Considering how much a blu-ray disk can actually hold, it's only a matter of time before the 360 gets swamped. The PS3 is the best current generation console. The graphics are amazing. The potential is amazing.
It's a true home entertainment hub, from being able to stream stuff from the net, the free online game play, it's actually an incredible bargain for everything that the ps3 is able to do.
Since I didn't have a ps2 I really didn't care that the ps3 40 gb version doesn't play ps2 games, but I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to play a few old ps1 games that

This thing is great. Better than advertised. And we downloaded openoffice.org for free and can now do everything we normally did with Microsoft. Great for taking to class and doing work because it is so lite and can fit into a purse or bag so easily! And a 40g hard drive is plenty of room!

This unit is all it is said to be. Feels very sturdy and seems to be made out of material that would allow this to survive a fall from the table. Yes the keyboard is tight and takes time to adjust if you are a fast typer but this shouldn't be your primary PC. Great for kids or for traveling. The handle is what made it for me. However, I had to return my unit as it just couldn't make and keep a wireless connect. Amazon sent another one. It did better but still had only half the ability to pick up and keep connections as my 4 year old laptop. Since I needed this for traveling, this was not workable so returned again. I had the Unix version and the second unit consistently locked up. Made Windows look flawless. The speed of the unit was on the slow side but acceptable. Hated to let it go as the whole family loved it.
