I've owned 3 portable GPS units and this is by far the best.
My first GPS was an older model of the Garmin 360 which can only be likened to a CRT monitor. At the time, this was standard. It was an excellent device and I loved the different voice settings as well as ease of use.
I made the mistake of selling this GPS for a Navigon 5100. While it was much more portable, had free traffic reports, and a slew of "goodies" so to speak, I had a lot of problems with the unit. It took an extremely long time to load, the touch screen was virtually unusuable (a huge problem of course) as I would almost have to use my pinky in order to enter addresses, and the user interface was horrible to say the least. While it did provide good directions and the routes were easy to read, the disadvantages listed above outweighed the few advantages.
Several models later, I decided to sell the 5100 and return to Garmin. I have never been happier. The unit is small, light, loads fast, I can get my beloved british

What can I say about this all-rounder? Sold my Nuvi 310 for this set with TTS, Bluetooth and built-in U.S./Canada maps. Coupled this with a free MY/SG maps - it has been my trusty tool to navigate to places I have never been before. It works seamlessly with my Sony Ericsson phone with its Bluetooth, even callers are not aware I'm using GPS to talk to them. Choosing faster time routing, it brings me to my destination in quickest time and most of time, shorter routes. Fast start-up (remember to remove lock-password and do not choose destination first before getting signals), Easy to use and best of all, the maps are available for most of countries, unlike some cheap GPS where need to use proprietry maps. Durable and mounting it into car is easy. Will be using it for tour in HK soon. :) Next will be to purchase Europe map, then I'll have most of the world's maps in my 3.5" pocket size GPS!!

I've been using this product for 3 weeks and it finally died on me. Luckily the item was still returnable to the store I purchased it from and I literally just got back from the store after returning it for a full refund to write this mini-review.
For 3 weeks it was alright, though I did notice it ran really hot, made intermittent noises I've never heard my other 3 Buffalo hard drives make and the transferring was initially fast but quickly slowed down the more I used it. I was surprised that the drive didn't come bundled with any software including the usual FAT32 disk formatting program. I understand they have free FAT32 formatting programs on the internet but with every Buffalo drive I've purchased, I've enjoyed the privilege of this and other software conveniently packaged with it.
I can't, in clear conscience, recommend this Seagate FreeAgent drive to anyone, not really knowing if I just received a lemon or if their drives are outright just not dependable. Whatever the case may be,

We just put the new T500 through its paces during the arrival of our new baby. Both still shots and HD video taken with the camera came out beautifully. Camera performance is excellent. The touch screen controls are intuitive, the options are plenty (if you want to bother with them), and the quality of the output is great.
The only reasons I'm not giving the camera at 5/5 is that the battery seems to get dragged down rather quickly (admittedly mostly due to video usage), and the included docking station is required to plug the camera into your Mac (or PC). As I travel a fair bit, and like the small size of the camera, it's a bit of a shame that a docking station is needed, in addition to the USB cable (would be optimal if you could plug straight into the camera and avoid the extra hardware).
One last point to note is that this camera is the better choice if you want video and still photo capability in one. If you're looking for a camera that can store a ton of still pics on board, without

I purchased this GPS unit mainly to use on a trip that we are planning out west. However, I have found that it is extremely user friendly and I have used it frequently to find things like the closest gas station or a particular store to shop in. I also found my way around stuck traffic with ease. Just type in your destination and viola, you are there. I am not a techno queen and have found this unit to be very easy to use. It has many features, but i have not tried them yet. would recommend

This is an excellent all around GPS with many fine features for an affordable price.
The only thing I would (and did) change about this device is the volume of the voices used to give you directions. It was very difficult to hear the voices even at the unit's highest volume level. After doing some research online I was able to find instructions on how to edit the voice files and thereby increase the volume. I've done this for all the voices on the GPS I use and they sound much louder now. I recommend that everyone make such changes if they feel moderately comfortable with computers.
All in all, the voice issue was relatively small and I managed to fix it so I will enthusiastically give this unit 5 stars!

Seagate ST305004FDA1E1-RK FreeAgent Desktop 500 GB 3.5-Inch USB 2.0 External Hard Drive
I bought a 320 GB version of this and had problems with it "disappearing" from my system. I talked with Technical support and I went through installing it on another computer and it did the same thing. While I was doing this, I noticed the base was hot (too hot) to the touch. I looked for problems via Google and found a whole pile of complaints that had to do with overheating and further complaints that Seagate was not acknowledging the problem and the Support Engineers were no help (this was my experience). As far as I can tell, disks beyond 250 GB were made without changes to the cooling to handle hotter running products. I don't know if this has now been fixed. I would assume so since ads for these products disappeared for a few months and are now showing up again. But the other issue is - how can you trust this company? Rather than pursue replacement (I believe I would have just received an identical

My first external hard drive was a WD500, but two months after the warranty expired, so did the hard drive. It is now in my trash bin. I talked over the possible reasons for its early demise and it came down to the drive is always on, which could easily burn it out. The Iomega has an on/off switch, so I only have to turn it on when it is time to back up the computer. I think this may be a much better design and will give it a longer life.

Does this DVR Expander do the job? An emphatic YES it does. During the Olympics in Beijing, I kept running out of disk space on my Time Warner DVR. I lost out on recording a lot of my favorite programs because of no room in the Inn.
However, the drive is a little noisy. Maybe it's the drive. Maybe it's the fan. Don't know. It's annoying, but you can't hear it when viewing/listening to the TV. Also, a little more technical information about the drive in the instructions from Iomega and how it functions would've been appreciated.
Lastly, I think that the drive that I rec'd (very fast delivery, by the way) may have been returned by someone else. The plastic stand and the power cord were not in their plastic bags. The empty bags and the items were lying separately in the box. I was a little aprehensive about that, but like I said, everything worked perfectly. My DVR space went from 99% full to 23% full immediately upon connecting up. Thank you so much.

Although I am capable of troubleshooting network attached devices, I don't really want to at home, I just want to store my crap and forget about it. This device requires the extreme bare minimum of effort to use, pretty impressive really. The unit required literally 15 minutes to set up and get working. Most of the time spent was unpacking the unit and the hard drives.
Once it's unpacked and plugged in to your power and your network, all you need to do is run the supplied software from the CD, set your password and choose your disk arrangement. It picks up an IP via DHCP and advertises itself as a UPnP device, so by the time you get the setup disk running, it's already visible on your network (provided you have a standard home router setup going on).
It's super quiet, blends in quietly with the office decor and only has one button to worry about. I've only had it for a week an a half, so I can't speak to it's longevity, but so far the performance is good and I haven't had a single pr

I'm sure that others will post more thorough reviews soon, but I wanted to get this info out as soon as possible to help others. For example, it is already enough for me to make my purchase decision, and it answers a key question that I have not been able to find the answer to after weeks of research, which is "Can it zoom while recording video?"
Based on reviews of previous models of this camera, I had high expectations. I expected high image quality and good low light performance. I was planning to buy it after I verified that it could zoom while recording video.
After getting my hands on one and playing with it for about 10 minutes, I did verify that it can zoom while recording video, and although I have not yet been able to test its image quality, I will not be buying one of these.
I frequenty switch between video and still photos, and I use zoom extensively. This kind of usage would be very annoying with this camera because both of these features are controlled through the touch

I've had this for about 3 weeks now because I wanted yet another backup for my family pictures and some of the more interesting videos (I always back up the stuff that I really care about on several drives kept reasonably apart from each other). I can't think of any major issues and the only minor ones are the orange light that glows every time the disk is accessed - yes, we know, data is being read or written to the disk by the computer - and the external power supply.
Overall impressions: easy to install. I just plugged it in and... that was it on my Windows machine. The unit comes with some backup software but I like to be in control myself so I can't say that I bothered testing it. It's good to know it's there though. The size is reasonable - not the smallest external hard drive you can think of but it's not enormous either.
Oh, and the price is great. In fact, my only regret is not buying it from Amazon because, it turns out, I paid too much for it elsewhere back then. It's also

I am primarily using this drive as a backup to my primary home computer (an Intel iMac). I erased and formatted the drive (GUID partition) and I use Shirt Pocket's SuperDuper software to create a bootable backup of my system. For this purpose, it's working perfectly ... transfer speeds are quick, the drive is silent and it looks great sitting next to my computer system. I am using the Firewire 800 to 400 cable (included in the box) to connect to my computer.Cons: the drive is in my bedroom and the pulsing glowing light on the front (even when the drive is ejected) is quite bright. Also, the drive runs quite hot when in prolonged use. Since there's no fan, hot air escapes from the perforations on the top of the drive, so you'll want to make sure it's not in an enclosed space like a drawer or tight shelving.

I'm not going to rant on & on about all the features & how they compare to ALL the other models, you will go NUTS trying to keep each models pros & cons straight in your head & get dizzy after a while!! LOL I know I did!
After TOO much research, I broke down & finally bought this camera & let me tell you, we have been nothing but pleased in that decision! One of the key deciding factors, besides the most 'BANG" for the buck, was ALL the online user help groups with very active forums & myriads of artcles & info to ANY question that a new user could EVER need! We have had it for a year & we have yet to call Panasonic with ANY questions, as they are readily answered by a quick post or search on the dvx user forums! I am currently looking for a good fluid head for our camera as my son wants to film hunts this year & bought a tree arm, but the 503 Mafrotto, is proving to be elusive,as it has been discontinued , but happens to be the one my son "NEEDS" wouldn't you know!! LOL

So I was really excited to get my new S60 and I've been playing with it all day. This is my first Nikon and I've owned 2 Casio's and 2 Cannon's previously so I did a lot of research prior to making this purchase. The thing I really liked about this unit was the 5X zoom in an enclosed casing. I seem to always get dirt inside my lens.
The touch screen interface is awful. You have to have tiny fingers to operate the interface with any efficacy. You pretty much have to use two hands to take photos. I found the low lux image quality to be pretty bad. On the positive side the speed of photos seems to be better than past Coolpix Nikon's.
The touch screen and the software interface is ultimately this unit's downfall. To change any of the photo settings outside of flash (which is locked out on many scenes) you have to return to main menu which takes awhile to load. Bottom line with this unit is you will spend more time trying to operate the camera than taking quality pictures. Nikon produced

I'm an end-user, not a real tech-person. And there is nothing I love better than a product that tells you to plug it in and it will work just fine. I did and it does. Suddenly I have a terrabyte of trustworthy storage on my desk for my years and years of digital and digitalized photos. (I have been shooting RAW for two years and my "C" drive was gagging.) I also store off-site but it is a pleasure to tell Lightroom and Photoshop to look for the good stuff on my LaCie. And, when I finally decide to switch over to a MAC some day,the LaCie can quickly change its loyalty with me.

I ordered this 1TB hard drive to backup my pictures, music and movies form other hard drives with Carbon Copy Cloner. I like the multiple interface I can daisy chain my 500GB rugged to the FW800 port and works perfectly. I didn't install the backup softwares since they are not compatible with Leopard. The HD turns off automatically when I eject it from Finder which is a good feature but sadly the supplied cables are too short so you won't be able to hide the drive under your desk...

I have had nothing but problems with this 1 tb drive which is unusual since I own several smaller ones. This is my second exchange both had different problems the first made a grinding noise when I plugged it in, dead disk The second one worked fine for a while and when I had it filled, the drive turned into a RAW drive and my data was lost. it was also making a clicking sound and freezing my system. I checked to make sure it was not my system, computer etc but all other externals worked fine. (e sata and Firewire)
I do not want to worry about my backups, I'm going to get a better drive and put it into an esata case. You get what you pay for, this is junk.

For a simple GPS system, it works well. It doesn't have Text-To-Speech, which means that it says "turn left in 300 feet" not "Turn left on Main Street in 300 feet". For me, that works fine as the less it talks the better. Selects good routes, is simple to set up and use and is easily updated from the web (which i would recommend doing right away as there were numerous updates available, including GPS firmware updates). If you want alot of bells and whistles, you will be disappointed. If you want a simple, trustworthy GPS device for a low cost, this is for you.

This item is very easy to use. No one has a lot of time to do things and this product was able to take things off my laptop and put them on this hard drive very quickly. I also receive it in a couple of days.
