Apple MacBook, 13-inch, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - White - MB403LL/A
I'm a PC/Mac Technician/Administrator by trade. So I have plenty or experience with Windows and Macs. I've used PCs since there were PCs and I always say I'll use the best tool for the job, and time after time the best tool is a Mac. Whether you're an aspiring programmer, designer, artist, musician or simply just want to surf the web, view e-mail, IM friends or and get your job done easily, a Mac will suit your needs.

I bought this model refurbished off the Apple Store. Anything I say about the computer's Operating System (OS X) usually applies equally to other Macintosh models.

First the Hardware:
For a consumer machine it's surprisingly solid and the weight feels good. The built in camera (standard on Mac laptops and iMacs) is pretty decent as far as web cams go. After months of heavy use the hinges are still snug and the screen is just as bright. 2GB will take care of most people's needs.
Also, and this is very important, since this is an Intel based machine you can install windows

Sony VAIO Laptop with Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor T2390 - Nightfall Blue
It's a strong name with a big reputation. I chose to buy a Sony laptop because everything I have ever owned with "Sony" written on it has been solid. This laptop computer is no different. It was easy to setup, connected to my network seamlessley and is a real joy to use everyday. With the exception of having to muddle through the transition to using Windows Vista and especally it's out of the box quirks... which I am over now. I can report that I am now among the those with portability and can slide into the red velvet half booth at starbucks to sip and surf with the other hip urbanites.

Sony VAIO NR260E/W Laptop (Refurbished)-Sony VAIO VGN-NR260E/W Notebook
I presently also own a MacBook Pro with Leapord that is very easy to use. However , this new notebook Sony VAIO NR260E/W Laptop has Windows Vista and It just started clicking to whatever window it wanted to go to. I have to look into it more, but I do not like a machine that does its own thing.

Compaq Presario C770US Laptop Computer
I ordered this laptop because my family needed an extra computer, and as I'm the closest thing to a power-user we have, I gave my own computer to my mother and purchased this machine. While the system is only a small step up from what I had before, it certainly does everything that the information on Amazon promises - which is not a lot, given how sparse the details are. The computer runs Vista without any problems; I haven't yet tried reconfiguring it for Linux, but I'm guessing everything other than the dial-up modem will work fine. The Aero interface runs smoothly, even on the integrated Intel graphics chipset (which is not officially supported by most newer games, but which can be configured to run just fine with a lot of them.)

The only real complaint I have is something that's going to happen with any preconfigured Windows system, which is the crapware that comes preinstalled. Without access to a program like PC Decrapifier (which you can get for free with a Google search), it'll

Sony VAIO Laptop with Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor T2390 - Nightfall Blue
So much can be say about Sony's VAIO, but one thing is for sure: it's the perfect companion for working, studying or even for just have some fun on-the-road. I've bought this unit 2 weeks ago, and I couldn't be happier. Its runs smoothly with the 2 Gbytes RAM, the display is bright and clear, the keyboard is very comfortable (the keys are very well spaced), it comes with 4 USB ports (more than enough!) and with a 160-Gbytes hard drive (not too big, but considering it's a laptop you shouldn't keep all your data on it). The design is very stylish (I bought the night-blue model; I'm a blue-freak!). It's elegant and (perhaps the most important thing to consider) it is totally affordable. Honestly, I just can't believe I've got a VAIO for less than 700$!
Windows Vista runs quiet and quickly in this VAIO. Although many people find it annoying, I don't fell offended for all the software trials that come with it. And it takes only about 5 minutes (10 minutes top) to uninstall all of this software.

Apple MacBook, 13-inch, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - White - MB403LL/A
The MacBook is a little more expensive than similarly-configured Windows laptops. However, the tangible and intangible benefits that come with the MacBook make it worth the extra money.

The MacBook is perfectly sized for an all-purpose machine. The old 12.1" iBooks were great, but their screens were just a little too small. The MacBook's 13.1" has adequately high resolution and screen real estate for most tasks outside of publishing and heavy-duty Photoshopping or web design, and the compromise size keeps the MacBook's size below most of the 15.4" systems common in the Windows world. It's just small and light enough to be easily toted around, and just big enough for useful work.

One of the MacBook's big selling points (and one worth the Apple premium) is the fact that you're not forced to use Vista. Mac OS X "Leopard" is a far more polished and user-friendly operating system, and it's the seamless integration of OS and hardware that makes the MacBook such a joy to use. Everything

Apple MacBook Pro, 17-inch, 2.5GHz - MB166LL/A
I decided to step up my game and damage my pocket and purchase an Apple laptop and software. This is because people said this was the ideal if doing video production (and that is my dream). Since getting the thing and installing the software I have had problems. My imovie would not work...i kept having to force quit the programme...i took the laptop software etc to the Apple dealer in the Country and they reinstalled and charged me for this...took the laptop home and now the iphoto keeps hanging up. It seems i would have been better of not going the Apple route as I am yet to get ANY value for the money I paid.

NR360E/T Intel Pentium Dual Core T2370 1.73GHz Notebook - Granite
I had heard the rumours too: that once you buy it, they don't care.

It's true. They will say anything that sounds peachy, delivery dates, custom configurations, etc. I had given them another chance recently and it's the same story.

Their TV's are great, but they just don't really care about you, their bread and butter. The bloatware that comes with it is pretty terrible too. It was easier to just buy a new copy of windows Vista and overwrite all their trialware than it was to remove it all (which you never fully will).

I'm done with them, there are plenty of good alternatives..

Satellite A205-S5871
This is my first laptop and my son thought I should get more ram but whats nice is I can add if I need it. I was pleased with the price, ease of use and the screen is crystal clear. I would recommend to anyone that needs a good basic laptop, after you remove all of the extra software you don't need. There were no reviews when I purchased this laptop and was a little skeptical, but I am very happy I made the purchase.

Apple MacBook, 13-inch, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - White - MB403LL/A
I was a Windows user for 15 years. Although interested in a Mac, compatibility issues with my office Windows network made me hesitate. I'm now retired and since my ThinkPad was getting on (and acting up), I decided to go with the MacBook.

I was shocked at the marked superiority of the Mac right out of the box. I decided to wait to write a review until I found some flaws. After all, nothing is perfect. Well, I may find some eventually, but during the month I waited I became even more confirmed in my first impression. By "superior" I mean in all material respects--operating system, hardware and software. I realize some IT types, gamers and others may see some advantages to Windows, but I see none for a user like me (primarily, internet, email, iTunes, word processing and picture management). It was a revelation to find a computer so stable and user friendly. Other adjectives that come to mind: Solid, Fast, Fun, Snappy, Sleek, even Graceful. From frustration to the sublime.

I

Smart Buy 6515b Mobile AMD Sempron 3600+ 2GHz Notebook
Didn't need anything too fancy, just something to get online when away from home, and to look at plans. For the price *cheap*, it is a great laptop, and does more than I will ever need it to. One just like it went on sale almost as cheap at wally world, but with limited suppies, who wants to fight the crowds?? Plus you can never go wrong with O shipping!

Lenovo ThinkPad X61 Notebook PC
This laptop is excellent for people that have to carry it around, perfect for conferences and airplanes (if fits an airplane table perfectly!) I have worked with it for a whole year and did several statistical analysis; the X61 never let me down. It weights like a book.

However, if you are considering this model you should consider two main points:

1. The LCD is small, so if you need to work at your office you must buy an additional screen.
2. The battery supports less than 3 hours, which is quite bad, specially if you are in a plane!

I love the X series and highly recommend it.

HP Presario C769US Notebook-Pentium Dual Core T2370, 15.4
My model number is a little different (F767NR) but the specs match and my model may differ only in that I bought it from a bricks and mortar store near my office. Instead of Intel, mine is outfitted with AMD Turion64. The store cleaned up most of the advertising and set it up for me. This may improve the performance. I had someone to take it to when I needed to ask a question.

I wanted a laptop because I write and I hate being tied to a desk. I didn't need huge capacity but I wanted MS Word because that is compatible with most of my document files. I needed to make the jump to the hated Vista...what was wrong with XP?

Except for hating what Microsoft has changed in the MSWord interface, I'm very happy with the computer. It weighs less than six pounds and fits in a laptop case I already had. It's sleek. The screen is big enough to read easily. It boots up reasonably fast and is extremely responsive.

I really like the keyboard. The keys on the keyboard operate quietly but have a

Apple MacBook, 13-inch, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - White - MB403LL/A
This is probably the best laptop I ever bought. I had 2 sony vaio's before and used different types of windows laptops from work. By far, this is the best user experience I've had using a laptop, with great aesthetics. The boot up time is incredibly fast, applications(itunes, safari, iphoto, canon software etc) load super fast, compared to windows. Apple makes home computing incredibly easy with Leopard and macbook.

Like some of the other customers, I debated whether to buy a macbook or macbook pro, but in the end I couldn't justify the added cost just for larger display and dedicated graphics card. This works just fine, I use aperture with this and it works really well

Apple MacBook, 13-inch, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - White - MB403LL/A
I knew that this was going to be a great purchase, and when it came, I was very pleased with it. Not only does it look great, but it runs very nice. The battery life is fantastic, and the OS is really great. Much more efficient than windows. It's very fast. A good deal faster than my windows desktop. I definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a good laptop.

Sony NR360E/T Intel Pentium Dual Core T2370 1.73GHz Notebook - White
I own a Vaio and so does my girlfriend. Unbelievably, her charger does not work on my Vaio, and vice versa. Further, the Vaio does not accept SD cards so you have to carry a converter, plus, most ridiculously, my Sony video camera's memory stick does not fit Sony's memoery stick. Sony has produced different memory sticks for its video cameras, compatible maybe with who knows what, another converter to buy and carry. Meanwhile, no matter whether I turn off the wireless, the Sony feels compelled to keep warning me that my wireless is not connected. I'm through with Sony forever.

Apple MacBook, 13-inch, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - White - MB403LL/A
This was my second Mac. It replaced a PowerBook G4 that had been in use for nearly six years. I am a school teacher and I carry my laptop to school and home every day. The one regret I had about my 15" PowerBook was that is was quite large and heavy. Travel on planes and buses was a pain and required a decent sized backpack or other bag.

There are limits with the MacBook in terms of graphic abilities. I'm told they will not do video editing and gaming as well as the MacBook Pro. I don't need these capabilities. I use my laptop for word processing, presentations, internet utilities and email, personal finance, and managing my photos and iTunes library. The MacBook does these handily.

I have found the upgrade to Leopard to be a significant one. I interact with Windows users regularly and as a result I've found it useful to also purchase Microsoft Office for Mac. I prefer iLife for publishing and presentations though. I prefer the Mac Mail, Address Book, and iCal to the applications

Apple MacBook Pro, 17-inch, 2.5GHz - MB166LL/A
What can I say but Outstanding!! I have been a PC user for over 20 years and this was my venture inot the MAC world... Its been 3 weeks and so far I have truly enjoyed the journey... I still find myself double-clicking on objects, but the tranisition has been smooth... I still have my PC and do not plan to get rid of it (Security Blanket) because I still find some things easier to do on my PC because its my baseline...:-)

Things that I like about the MACBOOK Pro:
1. Intutive nature of the program
2. Drag and drop function
3. Plug and Play
4. Tutorials
5. Lightweight

Things I do not like about the MACBOOk Pro
1. Lack of Variety of Software

Overall, An outstandig product and I highly recommend...

Dell XPS M1330 Laptop (Black) Ultra Slim 13.3 Widescreen, Vista Premium, Intel Core 2 Duo at 2.0GHz, 200GB Hard Drive, 1GB DDR2 Memory, 13.3 Inch Wide Screen Wxga , 128mb Nvidia, Finger Print reader,
This is a nice starter computer, but beware, Dell screens are so dim they cannot be read easily in bright light environments. If you want to sit outside and read your e-mail, DO NOT BUY a Dell laptop. I wish I had known this before I bought the Dell XPS 1330, and I would have bought a Sony instead.
