ASUS N10JA2 N10 10.2" Notebook Netbook
First off, let me say that I love this little notebook. And I DID say NOTEBOOK. It is about time someone gives this baby its due. It has a lot of the same specs as Asus' awesome Netbook (The eee PC 1000H 160GB) but offers a LOT more quality. A lot of people are saying that they are too close to justify 300 dollars more in price but I say BAH! First off, the NETBOOK (1000H) ONLY comes with a 1-year warranty. Period. This baby comes with Asus Notebook's standard Global 2-year 360 coverage warranty WITH the option to purchase an additional 3rd year warranty. 360 coverage means that if there IS a problem, they will have it sent to them, repaired and sent back to you (usually with in a few days) at THEIR expense. PLUS, they offer a year's worth Accidental Damage Replacement after you register it within 60 days of purchasing it. You drop it, it breaks, they replace it!!! And have we all not had a graphics card or motherboard that flakes out after a year or so. When that happens to

Apple MacBook Pro with 15.4" Display
Apple's site and other reviews provide the essential information on what was upgraded in this new MacBook Pro (two graphics systems; machined from solid aluminum; new industry-standard DisplayPort video out; new trackpad; other minor changes/upgrades).

But why get this computer rather than the much less expensive MacBook that appears almost identical?

1. The MacBook LCD display is poor. It is not just a smaller version of the MacBook Pro LCD display. It has washed-out blacks, poor contrast, limited viewing angles, and less vibrant colors. This is a huge difference. I confirmed this with a side by side comparison in the Apple Store (and the store staff member agreed), and you can find further discussion at gizmodo dot com (gizmodo.com/5063492/macbook-and-macbook-pro-dual-review).

2. The MacBook Pro's excellent new graphics chip (NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT) can be used to speed up all operations (not just graphics) when the new Apple operating system (Snow Leopard) is released in January.

Apple MacBook Pro with 15.4" Display
Apple is notorious for constantly updating their products, more or less to keep up the status quo on their products. The new Macbook Pro is no exception. This beautifully constructed laptop is a work of art in many ways in which i will detail.

SCREEN
The MBP has had a beautiful screen for as long as i can remember and this new model is no exception. LED lit means that it is "instant on". when you open the lid, there is no warm up time like there is with other screens like LCD ect. The colors pop and are extremely vibrant and true. If you have seen an older MBP screen, you've seen them both, kind of. The new screen is all glass. The glass extends to the very outer edge of the lid, leaving no empty space. Simply put, you can't find a better screen, not even on a Sony machine (and i love sony also).

KEYBOARD
The new MBP has an updated keyboard. The first thing you will notice is that the keys are black as apposed to the old silver. The black adds a nice touch because it accents

APPLE MA896LL/A 15.4" MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo Notebook (Leopard)
This review will be very short as it only concerns the choice of display. You have the option of buying a glossy or a standard display, and there is a big difference. The colors on the glossy display are outstanding and if your primary goal is to look are photographs, glossy may be your best choice. But glossy displays reflect light from the room, and many people (including me) get headaches if they use the notebook for a few hours in a well-lit room. In contrast, the macbook with the standard display has excellent color but the blacks are not as black and the whites are not quite as white. I have both, and vastly prefer the standard display when I have a lot of work to do. I will never get a glossy display again and unless you know what you are doing, I strongly recommend you avoid a glossy screen as well.

I just purchased the MacBook Pro from Amazon and I am COMPLETELY satisfied!
There is no better computer or a better place to buy it.
This computer has everything I need...and more! It looks great and works like a gem. If you are a graphics person, there is no better computer.

The MacBook Pro is great, looks great and works well. The only thing is the new operating system wasn't loaded to the laptop but the disk was included. Other than that, everything is great. Love it.

HP PAVILION DV6700T 15.4" NOTEBOOK LAPTOP PC (Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 at 2.5 GHz, 3GB RAM, 250GB HDD/ DVD+/-RW DL/NVIDIA GeForce Go 8400/Windows Vista Home Premium)
I've had this note book for about 6 months and have enjoyed learning more and more each day. The big 17" screen is a big plus. The Graphics card is very robust and supports all of my higher-end games. I love the fact that is has 4 USB ports (no need for a USB hub unless you're connecting a whole bunch of stuff). The colors are bright and vibrant. On the down side (every product has a few), HP loads a lot of useless software. With Windows Vista, you can delete them with just a few mouse pad taps. Another bad thing was the power cord. This is my 4th notebook purchase (3 PCs and 1 Mac), and in EVERY case the power cord was the weakest link. Be ready to buy an extra one. Tech support was pretty good. They sent out a replacement power cord in about 10 days. Back to the pros: The wireless capability is outstanding. Connecting to Wi-Fi networks is a easy and relatively pain-free. The bluetooth capability is a really nice feature especially when linked to my Bluetooth capable printer.

HP PAVILION DV6700T 15.4" NOTEBOOK LAPTOP PC (Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 at 2.5 GHz, 3GB RAM, 250GB HDD/ DVD+/-RW DL/NVIDIA GeForce Go 8400/Windows Vista Home Premium)
I have the Pavilion dv6000 Entertainment PC. Don't be fooled by this computer's sleek look. I have made numerous calls, been on hold, hung up on, and struggled with a language barrier (someone from India was "helping" me) and finally just gave up. HP's idea of customer service is to ignore you until you go away. It works! Great tactic! This company is not interested in selling quality products or providing basic support services. The laptop speakers have not worked since I plugged in external speakers. Now the external speaker port is screwed up and only plays sound on one side of the speakers or headphones. So much for an "entertainment" pc. The CD Player rarely works, won't eject CD's, and randomly turns on and off by itself. The wireless controller doesn't work PERIOD. The only good thing I can say about it is that it's PRETTY... and we all know.. pretty just doesn't cut it anymore. I won't purchase another HP again.

I got a [...] which is a sweet deal. Its got altec lansing speakers that provide rich sound, a nice addition is the dedicated controls for DVD and CD right on the top of the keyboard, the screen is a nice big 15.4 inches, with nice contrast and even back lighting. Typing is easy because there's adequate space for my palms and the thickness and weight are acceptable. But I wouldn't want to travel a lot with it. Another good quality is the coating HP used around it which resist scartching and staining. I use it everyday and haven't had an issue. The HP diagnostic software is handy. Never had any issue with this laptop as far as reliability. Cold Eyes

The digital audio produced no sound. After 4 hours with tech support, we gave up. It has yet to successfully burn a dvd using HP media. It would crash with a BSOD every 15 minutes. Tech support had me reformat the disks, but the recovery CD failed to reinstall anything. I've been going back and forth with them for a month now while my laptop sits there dead.

APPLE MA896LL/A 15.4" MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 Duo Notebook (Leopard)
After years of being a PC user I finally made the switch to Mac; at the time the 15" MB Pro seemed like the best choice of computer. Although both the OS and the laptop itself are excellent products, I can't help but glance from time to time at my Dell Inspiron for answers whenever I get stuck in a rut. With that in mind, I'll draw some comparisons between my 14" Inspiron and the MB Pro.

Here's my two cents:

HARDWARE:

* Peripherals:
I think that for $2,000+ I should get at least 3 USB ports instead of just 2. The Inspiron comes with 4 at $1,500 and not even the 17" model comes close with only 3 USB ports available. Both the MB Pro come with Express Card slots but the Inspiron comes with a 5-card memory reader. Granted, the MB Pro comes with an extra FWire slot but I still haven't found a good use for it. A memory reader would be sweet, though!

* Keyboard/Trackpad:
I'll say it up front: I do not like the keyboard's response! The keys feel kind of mushy and the kick-back action is slow

I have the same problems as other reviewers. Stay away from this computer. Worst purchase I have ever made. There should be a class action suit brought against HP for this computer. Non-existant technical help. They will, however, sell you help....that will probably not fix your problems. I am still under warranty but that means nothing.

Along with the other review, I too have had a similar experience with the now infamous disappearing wireless capabilities this product is advertised to have. Along with the same experience with HP's customer support, I can never recommend an HP computer to anyone. The known HUNDREDS of consumers with this issue have been sold lemons, so stay away from the DV6000 and DV9000 series. Do a google search for "DV6000 wireless issue"

I was attracted by the flashy look of this laptop at the beginning. But later I was so depressed. I don't know how this laptop was tested.
1. If anyone just types an email with this laptop, he or she can find how inconvenient it is. The super wide touch pad is easily touched when you are typing, which makes the typing very weird. Sometimes you might jump to another line due to the touch on the touch pad by accident. I was so annoyed that I turned off the touch pad. This function is funny, maybe the designer has found that it makes the typing not possible. I just want to ask the designer of this laptop - have you really tested the functions? It is a nightmare when I have to work with it 8 hours every day. It does improve my tolerance in another way.
2. Weird settings of ports. The earphone ports are on the front! I don't know why it is designed like this. I feel so bad to have the earphone plugs occupy a part of my table where I want to use my notebook to write something on.
3. Unbalanced

Having gone through several notebook computers, HP has by-far the worst customer service ever. Before 1 year is up, the internal wireless component fails to work. I send it for repair and it takes them 2 months to fix it and thus my warranty expires. What I realize when I get my computer back is the fact that they did not re-assemble the computer properly and hence, my monitor does not work. I call HP and they tell me that the warranty expired and they can't do anything about it. I explain my situation that they had my computer for 2 months during my warranty and also that my computer is mal-functioning because of their error. The people at the other end of the customer service tell me that they have elevated it to the higher manager in-charge and the manager will call me. I don't get a call back so I call HP again being patient and explaining the whole situation again. They tell me their sorry and once again it will be taken care of and someone will call me later. Once again,
