I applaude the first evaluator for his detailed comments. He is accurate in his description and his accolades fully accentuate the quality of this little gem. At 22" and 720p you could not ask for more other than a slightly larger screen at a slightly larger price. When I compare this picture with the same model 40" there is no difference other than the size. I do not know the pixel pitch of either TV; however, the normal sighted viewer cannot tell any difference in picture quality even though the 40" is 1080p vs 720p. This TV makes the perfect companion for working on a computer and viewing the TV next to it. Any TV can be torn to pieces for this reason and that but for the money and size this is going to be hard to beat. One item that I might find fault with is the potential cost imputed in the TV for the Touch of Color. That is a waste of money for me and could be omitted in other models if the cost of the addition is eliminated as well. Unlike the 40", I had little or no problem

Outstanding choice, simple, strong reasonable price.
I installed it on a 40" Samsung LN40A630 LCD panel. Make sure you spend the difference on an accurate stud finder so that you hit the stud properly. You may also also want to purchase two stainless #14 x 2-1/2" flat head wood screws, the ones in the kit are a touch soft and round out easily.

Bought this monitor after doing a lot of research on which monitor to get. My first choice was a Samsung 226BW but after reading about quality control issues with the lcd panel on those I decided to go with the Viewsonic since it had the best color reproduction and fast response time.
This monitor is great as long as you keep the dynamic contrast feature off and configure your video card's gamma setting properly(my 8800GT had to be set to 10% gamma). The problem is that dynamic contrast will turn itself back on whenever the monitor goes to standby mode, turned off or changes resolution. The menu will show that it is off but it is actually on since turning it on and off in the menu will then make it actually off. It's very easy to see when its on by looking at skin tones....they look horrible with dynamic contrast turned on.
I bought the 19 inch version to this monitor at the same time and that one does not have this problem. I was going to send the 22 inch back but I'm out of the US and

Good: no dead pixels
Bad:
* the same resolution (1680 x 1050) is shared by 19", 20" and 22" LCD panel. You can imagine the grainy display for your photos. Dot Pitch of 0.282 mm is really stretching the limit. To get some sense of the dot pitch: I have a 15" LCD with pitch size 0.25 mm, and a 17" LCD of size 0.264 mm. So don't be fooled by the size of LCD monitors!!
* Another big problem: some areas are always biased to red, especially for some human faces in photos. Tweak any configuration will not result in a satisfactory result. So bring your favorite family photos when testing your next monitor purchase. Human eyes are very sensitive to colors of faces and cannot be easily fooled.
Totally disappointed with 22", I am returning it and get a 19" on which I can at least enjoy my photos.
------update after one week's research------------
It is sad to know that almost all 22" LCD monitors use TN (twisted nematic) panels. These are only capable of 6-bit color and 262,144 colors. The

I bought this monitor a couple of weeks a ago because have the best value/performance. The screen is very big for me - My old monitor was a Dell 17' CTR- I love the possibility to watch 2 word documents at same time. The contrasts and brightens are incredible. The resolution and time response are very competitive. The price of this monitor is a good point to buy it is like $150 creeper than other monitors with the same level of quality. I give 5 star for price, 4 for performance and 4.5 for design

I'm very pleased with this TV, Yes, I did take some time setting it up and adjusting the
picture but it was well worth seeing the difference. With out a cable box I was able to
tune many of the HD channels I get on my other cable box feed TV's. I mounted it on
the wall with a mount I already had and I was glad to see everything matched up to the

I have had this 720p LCD for about a week now and these are my initial impressions.
Pros:
- Excellent picture via Cox cable HD channels
- SD video is actually pretty good
- computer hook-up via HDMI is impressive (Good second monitor for laptops)
- picture via Panasonic upconverting DVD is superb
Cons:
- only one HDMI and one component connection
Neither:
- Sound is average, but this TV is only 22"
It is for a small bedroom, office, or kitchen. Maybe as a computer monitor or to play PS3/Xbox while watching TV.
Overall I like it for a HDTV in my office and as a second monitor for my Toshiba laptop.
As far as settings, I like "Standard" with the backlight at 8 and cool2. The rest of the settings can be adjusted (contrast, sharpness, color, etc,) but I like the default with only the above changes.
For DVD, I recommend "Movie" mode and warm2(default).
Nice job once again SAMSUNG. Quality product at a fair price.
Oh and I love you Amazon even though I am upset about you getting rid of

I'll preface by saying I'm not a serious A/V person, I'm not up to speed on the latest and greatest technology - just a layman. My old CRT TV died, and I needed a new one. Wanted LCD for the lower power consumption and since nearly all of them are HD ready I wanted that too. From what I read, Samsung has the best LCD panels out there. The image on this one is extremely good, though in my opinion I wouldn't say excellent. At times it seems to blur momentarily. Colors are well represented. The features of the TV are nice, not much more than you'd find with older CRT though. This unit is very light weight and easily mounted to a wall. It doesn't get hot when on, which is nice. The remote is weird in its layout of the buttons. I guess it's a subjective thing, but the channel and volume up/down buttons are at the bottom of the remote, not the top and that's really annoying to me. Good thing I was able to get a universal to use with my cable box and DVD player. While I would otherwise give it

I searched for months for a 26 inch HDTV that I thought would be compatible for my bedroom use. I was going to purchase the Sony 26" for $899.00, but when I saw this Samsung 22" for less than $500.00, I held my breath and ordered it. The reviews were very good as well. So I must tell you that I am "pleasantly surprised" with my purchase. The picture is awesome and the sound is not as bad as some have stated. I set it up in no time and it looks great (as pictured) in my bedroom.

I used to have 2 15" monitors. I decided to get rid of one though. Now I have this 22" and my old 15" standing side by side. The difference is ENORMOUS. This monitor is much brighter too. I got it for only $180, which is pretty cheap for a 22". I can look at my photos in almost full res (well it's much more detailed than on a 15" screen). I can watch DVDs and TV on this monitor, and it turns out very sharp, even better than on my TV :).
I didn't really buy the monitor for it's accessories, but I really like them :). It has a speaker, microphone, card reader, ipod dock, and 4 usb ports. The speakers are pretty weak, I haven't tested the microphone. The card reader works with SDHC cards (and is actually pretty fast in downloading the photos). I haven't used the ipod dock since I don't have an ipod yet. The usb ports are really usefull since whenever I need to plug in my mp3 player I don't need to reach all the way over to my computer.

This set is very good picture wise. High contrast is what a Senior needs. However, it has the worst sound that I have ever heard. The 25 yr old set it replaced had better sound. Even all of the way up I could barely hear the sound. Had to add a pair of self powered speakers for the sound to be useable.

The touchscreen only worked twice after unboxing. The screen was defective and became unreadable after two bootups. The wireless mouse worked fine, however, the keyboard never worked even though the AAA sent with the computer were replaced with unopened, unexpired cells. HP technical support was less than helpful in trying to resolve the problems. They suggested a different product instead of trying to troubleshoot, or assist with the product already purchased. Luckily the return process from Amazon.com was quite helpful.

An excellent product! I bought 2 since I added a dual graphics card to my Desktop. They are bright & vivid with a 3000 to 1 contrast ratio, which means the colors pop out at you compared to my old 19" with a 1000 to 1 ratio. I received them extremely quick... they were federal expressed to me - I did not expect that. One had to be returned as 1 pixel line was bad, a quick call and they sent out another to me before I even sent back the first - excellent customer service. I will buy from Overstock again for sure! You will enjoy this product... By the way AOC bought Envision so when I ordered mine they said AOC on the front verses Envision. But it is the same Sku 2216sw.

We bought this TV for our master bedroom, to replace a 20" Panasonic standard TV. This is our first LCD TV and also our first HDTV, so this is quite an adjustment for us. The first problem we ran into is what to do with the DVR and the cable box since we had those on top of our old TV and there was no good place to put them with the LCD on a stand (on our dresser). This was solved when we found a stand at Staples that wrapped around the cable box and supported the DVR (upon which we have the TV sitting, it is pretty light ...).
We have the TV hooked up with a splitter such that we have a cable from the wall that comes directly in, and another one that comes in via the cable box with S-Video. I was kind of disappointed when I first looked at a regular channel coming in over the S-Video as it really looked no better than the Panasonic. On top of that, putting the TV in WIDE mode to fill the screen distorts the picture slightly.
To my surprise, I discovered that he best signal was actually

This is a great PC to put in your kitchen. It looks and works great on our countertop next to the fridge. It is tight, but it barely fits underneath our cabinets over the counters.
HP did a fantastic job with the overall design, it is an attractive PC and we like the touchscreen software provided. As others have noted, the keyboard and mouse are great. I saw some complaints about glare off the screen - we have not had any issue with this. I hate glossy screens, and I consider myself pretty anal about glare. I do not think that glare is a problem with this PC, at least in our setting.
The touchsreen doesn't get used in most circumstances, but it is very nice for our 3 and 5 year old kids to pick their own music, choose videos on Youtube, etc. We have made several "thank you" video notes to the grandparents using the built-in Webcam, which works great.
We love having Internet, calendar, etc. in the kitchen. I just ordered a logitech wireless headset so that we can use it with

I had gone through several versions of portable stools in my work as a professional sports photographer. Stools are allowed or even required for some events like pro soccer or in the photo well at some MLB parks (where there never seem to be enough chairs and paying fans are sometimes right behind you so you can't stand up). I tried a free three-legged stool given by my bank; it lasted two games before one of the legs broke. I bought one at local sporting good store - it made it through 4 games before the webbing started to rip off two of the legs. Then a buddy showed me his WalkStool and I knew this would be a product I could use. It's built like a Swedish tank (I think the company is Swedish). Not only is it very, very strong, but It can be quickly folded up and snapped to your belt or other equipment, and it's so light you hardly notice it's there.
Don't waste your time trying to save a few bucks. I weigh > 200 pounds and really didn't want to be sitting on something only to have it

Since I encountered my first major issue today, I got lost in "troubleshooting" links trying to find a solution, found loads of reviews on this monitor, but none of them were long time owners as I am, so I thought I'd add a piece.
First let me say I've owned this SyncMaster 226bw since May of 2006, and I've had zero problems with it. I do not see any backlight bleeding, in fact, I've hunted for it on purpose trying to figure out exactly what that is. I have no light coming through the top or the bottom, and I have no dead pixels that I can see. I love the expansive desktop area. Great for multitasking, nothing takes up any space. I do dislike the setting buttons, they are kind of awkward, but in the end thats only cause I'm too lazy to figure out what they do, and I've only touched them twice (once when I got it, and today).
I did once have an issue where I saw strange flickering type flecks, mainly on the borders of windows. This seems to have resolved itself, as I no longer

Good picture, compact size (the frame is narrow so takes less space), has PC input that works fine, menus pretty nicely done, but has serious lip synching problems, doesn't fit picture to screen all that well (and yes it is 16:10 so images are slightly tall). Sound has weak frequency range and does sound tinny, however I used headphone jack to feed stereo audio output to my receiver and that feed sounds fine. As I write this, I'm thinking there has to be better model out there...sharp and Toshiba 22 inch displays were not yet available when I purchased this one, only other option was a Vizio, which I tried, but dark backgrounds had lots of noise.

We tend not to be at the "bleeding" edge of technology -- usually buy things when they become mainstream or needed as a replacement. We had a really great 20 inch NEC Multisync CRT -- excellent color. It finally failed, so we opted for an LCD monitor. We settled on this monitor because of the great reviews and the Amazon sale price.
The reviewers who gave it five stars were dead on about the image quality. I'm going to cover a few caveats that might be of interest to someone who's had a CRT monitor and is moving up to LCD for the first time.
First, size. Older CRTs typically had a 3:4 aspect ratio while the newer widescreen LCDs will typically have an aspect ratio of 16:9. Since displays are typically measured along their diagonal, a 20 inch widescreen could have a shorter viewing height than a 20 inch normal screen (not quite as bad as it might seem since LCDs typically quote viewable area while CRTs quote the display tube size rather than viewable area). The 22 inch HP has a

I purchased this machine to upgrade from a 3 1/2 year old Vaio desktop. It is a solid performing unit. The screen is bright and clear. The blu ray player/recorder is great and the amount of material you can record to a blu ray disc is amazing. It is a 5 star unit except for one thing. The reason I am giving it a 4 star review is because of all the crapware that comes preloaded on it that most people don't want anyway, the most irritating to me is aol, which to me is the ultimate in crapware and is very hard to remove. My old unit gave you a choice with aol, use it or don't use it, this one does not. It comes with no backup software which is typical of Sony but I didn't get any with my old unit either. I would like to at a minimum have a hard copy of the operating system software. The computer sets up simply. The diagram illustrating the connecting points that comes with the unit is easy to follow. I had it running in less than an hour. I've had zero driver problems and all but two
