Basically, it works as advertised. But with a few hiccups.
The image stabilization is poor. Combined with the light weight of the camera, it's hard to hold without jitter, practically impossible at maximum zoom. Walking with the camera makes the picture jump all over the place. And these fast movements don't make the compression algorithm happy. As a comparison point, my old Sony Hi8 camcorder can handle even the vibration in a race car without any of it showing on the screen.
Light sensitivity is poor. In low light it drops the frame rate and the video looks funny, blurred and stepped.
If you just leave the camera on without shooting, it still eats the battery like it is shooting. Turning it off and on takes a while, a few seconds. You'd think that this should not be the case in a device without mechanical moving parts but it is.
The file format is weird. There is a good reason why they sell a special DVD writer as a separate (not cheap) option. You can't just copy the files to DVD

At first i was going to send the camera back because I ordered the coper one and received a blue one, but after opening it I just decided to keep it. I like that the battery that came with it lasts a really long time before it needs to be charged, takes great pictures and is easy to use and very small, but has a big screen. I got a 4 gig sandisc from overstock as well and am very pleased with the amount of memory and the price of that.

There is a market for simplicity of design and this camera caters to that crowd. If you are a user that would like to just turn on the camera and start taking movies, this camcorder will make a happy consumer. This first generation of Flash memory camcorders is a nice step for allowing users to interchange media between cameras and camcorders in a very portable form of media.
The camera features a 2.7" LCD screen, 34x optical zoom, a swivel handle and a rotating LCD screen. This particular model operates utilizing a SDHC (high capacity HD card) or MMC (multimedia card) plus. A flexible option is to record in 16:9 widescreen or 4:3 standard options.
WHAT IS IN THE BOX?
AC power adaptor
Audio/video cable
USB cable
Software CD (Cyberlink Media Show)
User manual CD, quick start guide (hard copy)
Cloth pouch (for the carrying case)

This review is going to be a description of this camcorders ease of use and application of features and isn't meant to be comparison to other camcorders in the same price class. Contextual references to other camcorders and cameras may be included for basis of perspective.
+ It is ready to go right out of the box, the battery arrived with a 70% charge and it took only 30 minutes on the charger to fully charge, the grip thumb buttons almost make single handed use a reality.
+ The touch screen menus are created in a hierarchal outline of functions instead of the tree of features like those found Nikon SLR's. The Samsung has four menu items per page and six pages totaling 24 features with simple "Yes / NO" or "On / OFF" options. A Nikon and othe cameras have menus that require you to drill down to sub menus and sub sub menus and the Samsung avoids this frustration.
+ Crystal clear clarity even in low light conditions the Samsung performed admirably and in 1080 / 30p, or 1080/60i, or 480/60p.

I love this little camcorder. Nice and portable, easy to use, easy to save what you shoot. I love that it also takes still pictures -- the quality is really good. The whole family loves watching movie playback. It's easy to just plug into the TV and have a laugh. Editing may take awhile to learn, but overall, it's not the camera's fault. For the price, this is a terrific value. The lowlight filming is a little problematic, but I knew that going in, so it's not a big deal. I'm just using it for catching memories so it works for me!

I would love to like this camera and have kept it by my side for two weeks trying to find a "happy place" with it. Many valid points in the previous reviews. I am no professional. I just have way too many blurry shots that would have been clear with my previous camera. Returning item and will continue to research.

I am a first time user to any camcorder and found this one fairly easy to put and shoot. I used it to upload a video to YouTube. Works fine.
Great for the price and meets my needs.

I've been researching HD camcorders for sometime now and was thrilled to get this one. Of course with everything there is good and bad and I'll explain it all, there's a bit to cover.
First, the camera is heavier then it looks, which for me is ok because I know that its made with metal parts and not all plastic. Its very sleek looking and compact, smaller then I thought. Its a shiny metallic black which is also a fingerprint magnet.
The swivel handle grip is comfortable but I find that holding your hand with your fingers pointing down and using your thumb to control the buttons makes things more stable and comfortable in the long run. The buttons for the most part are placed well, the power button is a two hander but is out of the way so there is no accidental shut off.
The LCD screen...is a touch screen....WOW, its great, works very very well. Its very accurate and only needs a light touch. Yep another fingerprint magnet but its expected. All the settings and configurations are done

This seems a fantastic camcorder. Unfortunately, I cannot use it because it is not compatible with other equipments I have which use the PAL system. So, I had to return it. I was confused because I bought in the past other Canon products through amazon.com which have the possibility to switch between NTSC and PAL. The Canon VIXIA HF10 does not have this possibility. This said, I think it is a fantastic camcorder. Too bad that the product description available on line did not specify this important detail (NTSC versus PAL system usage)

I was a little skeptical at first. This camera seems too good to be true while reading all of the specifications listed. But I really have to say that it lived up to all of my expectations. In a well lit area the picture is absolutely stunning--a sharp and true-to-life image. In darker rooms the picture doesn't get grainy at all from my experience. Obviously a darker room isn't going to be quite as stunning as a brighter one but I'm still impressed. The mic picks up wind but not to a distracting point. Burning to DVDs/Blu-rays is actually pretty easy as well. I use Sony Vegas Movie Studio and it imports the video and is easily edited. My computer isn't the most amazing, so the video may take a second or two to buffer before I can preview it but I've been cutting videos and burning them easily since I bought the camera just a couple months ago. The battery that comes with the camera doesn't last all that long (probably an hour+). I would buy the extended battery for something

I have had quite the myriad of camera in the time I've been doing video. I started using my Kodak Z812 IS Camera, which is a great camera, but takes less than steller video - even if it is 720p. I upgraded to an Aiptek Action HD Camera that offered 1080p video along with a host of other features. While this was a definite improvement over the quality of the Kodak, it was sorely lacking in many areas. Namely, the video was extremely jerky, you couldn't zoom the camera without the sound of the zoom being recorded, and the quality was less than steller. So, with a big trip to New Orleans on the horizon and an increasing interest in video I sprung for the Canon HF 10. I read a lot of reviews before I made my purchase. For me I knew I wanted a couple features but didn't care about others. As you read below, you'll find out why I made the HF10 my choice.
But first of a summary. The HF10 is a AVCHD Digital Camcorder that records up to 1440*1080 (widescreen) @ 12 Mbps or 1920*1080 @ 17

A GREAT CAMERA FOR THE AMATEUR IF SERIOUS ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY, IT HAS AN AWFULLY LOT OF SETTINGS THAT CAN BE USED BUT TAKES A LOT OF STUDYING THE MANUAL TO MASTER ALL OF ITS POTENTIAL.
I HAVE YET TO EXPERIMENT WITH CONTROLLING WHITE BALANCE AND BRACKETING BUT I'M GETTING THERE.
THE PRICE GIVES MORE BANG FOR THE BUCK THAN THE MID-RANGE NIKON OR CANNON.

I always look for the best deals and this camera is the best ever. My daughter had a couple kodak digital cameras and even after dropping and breaking the ones she owned they continued to work until she lost them. That's why I decided to buy a Kodak for myself. Bought this one at discount as refurbished but when I received it looks new to me and it operates like a camera that cost hundreds. I enjoy the large viewing screen and I'm pleased with the charger it came with. Movies with sound and great stills. This is a lot more camera for the money spent than I ever expected. Thanks Overstock My wife no longer complains about our digital pictures and she can now easily take pictures herself.

I usually dont leave reviews, however with this I HAD to. Although I had never owned a Fuji camera before, I bought it based on the reviews from various websites. I have had Sony, Casio and Canon camera's before but it was time to upgrade my Megapixels and also have more user changeable settings.
PRO's
* Looks nice
* Lightweight
* Cheap
* Supports SDHC
* Uses standard AA batteries
CONs
* Color is horrible! No matter what mode your in or how you change the settings, the color is always off.
* Whitebalance settings do NOT work properly. Sure changing the whitebalance settings changes the colors, but from bad to worse!
* Even on the highest quality setting and the best ISO, the image is still grainy and not sharp. Hard to believe it is actually 10 Megapixel.
* Extremely slow response (I have kids and need the shutter to work the second I press the button.)
I tried playing with the settings for 2 days to get the picture quality I wanted. I had to change settings continuously to get a picture

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28S 10MP Digital Camera with 18x Wide Angle MEGA Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Silver)
I began taking scores of photos as soon as the camera arrived and have been completely satisfied with its performance. I use it a lot for nature shots, especially animals, and find the 18X exceptionally effective. My HAND-HELD SHOTS AT FULL 18 X zoom are amazing - strong testimony to Panasonic's image stabilization. My assessment now is that this may be the last camera I will need. Worth the full 5 stars!

This camera has performed above and beyond my expectations. As an amateur filmmaker I have been comtemplating purchasing a Panasonic AG-HVX200A which can cost upwards of $5000. I instead decided to save my money and buy the Canon HV30 at almost one-tenth of the price. I will start off saying that the image is amazing. The camera allows you to shoot both HD and SD (not sure why anyone would should Standard Def anymore), and it also gives you the option to shoot in 24P or 30P format. I recently shot a short in 24P and added the camera's "Cinema" mode, and the result was astonishing. Keep in mind, this is a a handycam, not a prosumer 3-chip camera. I also bought an external microphone, which I highly recommend. The camera has a built in sound meter that helps you monitor the sound for a more professional recording. I was also very pleased with the camera's manual functions. You can manually control most of the camera's basic functions including focus, exposure and white balance. Bat
