Sony 2.0MP Handycam High-Definition Camcorder with 40GB Hard Drive and 2.7" LCD - Black
I took the camera to China to film the Olympics and have come back with some great clips. Filmed in the pool (and my son in it!), basketball (the Dream Team!), tennis (Venus) and of course, Beijing the city, so no complaints - great quality and good sound.

Sony 2.0MP Handycam High-Definition Camcorder with 40GB Hard Drive and 2.7" LCD - Black
I bought the camcorder a week back after reading so - so reviewss. Amazingly Cnet.com didnt review this item but I found the review Cnet.au as editors choice of 8.4 +/-

I download the video to my computer but to view the video you always need to connect to the camcorder to the computer or you have to convert to mpeg or whatever the format. I am disappointed with this.

But picture quality and everything else is good.

Sony 2.3MP Handycam Digital Camcorder with 60GB Hard Drive and 2.7" Touch-Panel LCD - Silver
This was my 2nd camcorder. The last one was purchased about 6 yrs ago and was a Hi-8 Sony. This camera has fantastic resolution on my 36" Sony Wega Tube TV. The Hard Drive is great to see different videos very quickly (instead of waiting for tapes to rewind.) It is not so clear on my father in-law's 58" Plasma though. High Def would be better. But for recording my family's Birthdays and swim meets its GREAT!

A big thumbs up for the amateur family videographer.

Sony 2.0MP Handycam High-Definition DVD Camcorder with 2.7" LCD - Black
An excellent HD camcorder. Saves to DVD+RW or ProDUO (I use the 4 GB Sony). Pictures are crystal clear, and the 5.1 surround sound is excellent (sounds exactly as if you're outdoors). An excellent price, too! A great buy, IMO!

Sony 2.0MP Handycam High-Definition Camcorder with 40GB Hard Drive and 2.7" LCD - Black
This camera performs poorly in low light, as a matter of fact, when I used my 6 or 7 year old Sony TRV17 I could not tell a difference between the 2 pictures on my 50" Plazma TV. At least not for interior and low light video. Outside the picture was very bright and there was definetly a big difference between the two.
I returned this one and splurged for the SR11. You get a 60gig HD, 10MP digital stills, and just a huge difference in picture quality indoors and out. And with a 10MP still camera built in, I almost don't even need a digital.
The camera fits nicely in the palm of my hand, all the controls are convienently located.
The menu's can be a little confsing at first, but after a few minutes it becomes pretty easy to navigate around, and if you're not too tech saavy, there's always the "easy" button.
Oh also to save battery life and if you're recording in bright sunlight, the SR11 has a viewfinder which this model doesn't.
I guess I should be leaving this in the SR11 reviews pages,

Sony 2.3MP Handycam Digital Camcorder with 60GB Hard Drive and 2.7" Touch-Panel LCD - Silver
I first got a SR200 and then saw that Sony released a successor, SR220. So I returned the SR200, bought the SR220 thinking the successor will be better. The SR200 was a good camera, but I liked the grip and size on the SR220 better.

After I got the SR220 I compared the videos with some samples that I took from the SR200 before returning it. I was just disappointed. The details were far better in the older SR200 and there was less noise. I did notice from the specs that the CMOS sensor on the SR220 is smaller in size than the SR200.

Sony 2.0MP Handycam High-Definition Camcorder with 40GB Hard Drive and 2.7" LCD - Black
Overall, it is very satisfactory.

Pros: Light weight Easy to learn and operate, Good video picture quality (I like the slow motion video quality), Big storage (40GB is big enough)

Cons: Included battery (FH60) is ok, but FH70 would be better. AVCHD format to MPEG is not perfect. Uploading from computer hard dist to camcorder hard disk is not possible (in order to play on TV, I need to bring my laptop to TV). No view finder (but, it is ok since the SR11 w/t view finder costs lot more than SR10).

Sony 2.0MP Handycam High-Definition Camcorder with 40GB Hard Drive and 2.7" LCD - Black
I got it for $750 at Dell actually, which was the best I found without a risk of using potential fraud-sellers I found on google selling it cheaper. I think it is a good entry model into HD filming. It is probably the cheapest of the decent full-HD ones.
I am satisfied with the quality of the video. I believe that the more expensive models might have better video quality supported by better sensors, bigger lenses and better lower compression/quicker memory write times, but I think it is a good toy that will allow me to watch family videos 20 years from now without laughing at the quality of SD camcorders.
I am not very satisfied with the quality of the stills, but hey, I have a compact Canon S3 IS for that, so I would not count it for the rating. My S3 also records videos that are decent, but not perfect - that's why I am getting an HD camcorder. Otherwise I'd say the S3 beats SD camcorder.
The 40GB HDD allows for too many hours of videos and can be accessed as USB Mass Memory device, so

Sony 2.3MP Handycam Digital Camcorder with 60GB Hard Drive and 2.7" Touch-Panel LCD - Silver
I actually returned the sony DCRDVD 308 and purchased this camera instead. I wanted a camera that worked decently in low light conditions. For the price and without having the camera look like I'm from the local news station, I'm very pleased. I was having problems with the 308 not being able re-focus after zooming in and zooming out in low light conditions.... but don't seem to have that problem with this camera. I don't use the night vison feature because that shoots pretty much almost in black and white-but very clear. The color in the regular setting even in lower light is pretty darn good (for a camera that isn't a 3cc). I usually shoot with a tabletop tripod but don't always have the opportunity to use one- and find that the built in stabalization has worked wonders. If you read the manual, you have a lot of options for different settings, too. I agree with the last reviewer, though. I did purchase an extra battery and highly recommend doing so.
I film bands (mostly my husband's)

Sony 2.0MP Handycam High-Definition Camcorder with 40GB Hard Drive and 2.7" LCD - Black
I bought this camera with a little hesitation because of some of the so-so reviews, but was more than happy with the purchase. The videos look amazing. Using the HDMI cable to hook up to LCD TV makes it completly worth the money. Bought this to record my wedding and am fully satisfied. The only con is the AVCHD format is not widely supported yet. My laptop won't play the files without jumping like crazy, but you can still burn the movies directly onto a DVD and play them in Blu-Ray Players like the PS3 and loose no quality. I would not let a new technology hold you back unless you plan on keeping your older computer for an extended period of time. (Then you should prob look into VHS)

Great Camcorder

Sony 2.0MP Handycam High-Definition Camcorder with 40GB Hard Drive and 2.7" LCD - Black
I bought this camera from Circuit City on the day I was to fly out on a 2 week vacation. I have a Sony HI8, but I wanted a better quality camera to archive my children's activities.

Overall, the camcorder is light, highly functional, and meets my expectations. However, I will probably return the camera. I'll go through my pros and cons:

Pros:

Lightweight
5.1 sound is great
still pictures are nice, but don't use the zoom. Zoom stills are grainy
touchscreen lcd is nice and intuitive.
Quick power on is a nice feature.

Cons:
The required codec to play the files are tough to comeby. I found that Cyberlink's PowerDVD Deluxe is the only 3rd party application to play these files.
The included software is very basic and proprietary. It doesn't share the codec with media player.
The 40gig harddrive is not sufficient for the HD recordings set at the highest resolution. Why would you get an HD camera and record at low res?
I used my laptop to download. Later, I found trying to play those

Sony 2.0MP Handycam High-Definition Camcorder with 40GB Hard Drive and 2.7" LCD - Black
If you are new to the camcorder business, this will be the camera for you. It's easy to use and you won't have to buy media ever again. People complain about the quality but I filmed this outside during the daytime and the picture quality was great. Unless you watch your 40 inch HDTV at a 4 feet distance, I did not see much grain. It beats the standard cameras. By the way, I got this camera for less than 700 after tax and shipping. I think it's worth every penny.

Sony 2.3MP Handycam Digital Camcorder with 60GB Hard Drive and 2.7" Touch-Panel LCD - Silver
When my miniDV tape camcorder finally died, I knew that I would be getting a hard drive based camcorder, but I didn't know it would be so hard to pick the right one out, so I did a lot of research and finally chose the Sony Handycam DCR SR220. My biggest concern with this model was that I didn't think the 15x optical zoom would be enough. The real selling points were the good sized hard drive, the better than average lens, the excellent video quality and really good still picture quality (4 mega pixels, which is a lot better than most camcorders). This camera turns on quickly and is very easy to use. The software that comes with it isn't terrible, but if you use Adobe Premiere and Photoshop you will probably stick with that. Getting the videos and photos to the PC is very easy and quick, especially compared to DV tape. This camcorder has some very cool features too, like night vision (video in total darkness). "Drop protection" which I thought might include a parachute :-) but it doesn't.

Sony 2.0MP Handycam High-Definition Camcorder with 40GB Hard Drive and 2.7" LCD - Black
I returned this camera today as I was very disappointed with the video quality. The picture was grainy even filmed in the highest setting in bright light. Even tried the mini HDMI with no success. I believe that this is related to the compression used in AVCHD. I would recommend sticking with tape despite its lack of glamor. Tape has better quality video and is easier to edit. The Canon HV20 or HV30 is the way to go. By the way, if bought at a SonyStyle store they will charge you 15% restocking fee($150) -- if that's any indication to you of my disappointment.
