I purchased this unit for my son who is entering his freshman year of high school. I have an HP unit for work that has been very reliable so thought I would give this a shot for him. He is very happy with it, works great for surfing and watching videos. We have not tried the Blue Ray player yet, but assume it will be nice. Having the 3 GB of Ram appears pretty crucial as I recently was upgraded (?) to Vista at work and my machine, which does not have that much Ram, runs pretty slow on it, but his works much quicker. Only drawback might be the wieght of this unit. It has an amazing battery life, but it comes at a heavy price, pun intended, the thing weighs a lot comparatively, but all in all, well worth the money and was very easy to fire up and start working on it right away.

I just love the ease of this computer. Very easy to install. I use this computer in my home for personnel use. I did not like that it came with a 60 day microsoft office softwear. I had to uninstall the program which I did not want in the first place. You have to either buy the microsoft office softwear or uninstall it.

Well, rigth now I can say it's a very good notebook. But, if you are thinking to buy this model you have to know: (1) Windows Vista 32 bit only read up to 3GB of memory Ram, in other words, you have to upgrade to a 64 bits windows vista version if you want or need to use more than 3gb of memery ram (2) in my particular case, I never could to generate the restore disks, I buy them to HP and the set of disk never arrived and I never couldn't to contact anybody in HP to solve this problem. I loose 16$. (3) I bought a Windows Vista Ultimate 64bit and install it, after that, I downloaded all the drivers and software from HP website and install one by one (be carefully to search the correct ones, in the documentation you will find how), all of then operates fine.
Finally, I have a very nice notebook, the best I've ever been. I'm an Oracle Developer Consultant and I work hard with this machine and I can say "Ït's very nice"

Bought this computer to replace my 6 year old hp that has been taking a good beating from me over the years, I finally decided the upgrades would just be too expensive and it would just be better to buy a new computer then keep adding to my old system it would have cost over 800.00 dollars.to upgade my old system. the graphic card needed a huge upgrade since I couldn't run most of the programs anymore.anyways, back to the review of this system, the only real problem I had with it was the graphic card, it is an Intel graphic card and really isn't that great, few days after ordering the machine, I found out to get a good graphic card I would need to upgrade the power supply as well, since it is only 250 max watt, so I had to replace the power supply to a 500wt in order to get a new geforce 9600 gt, the other problem was having an older computer on the network, vista and xp pro might cause some problems but finally figured it out and am able to network the two systems, I also had some problems

This is a great looking box with good performance for basic home computing. The only downside for me (I own a slightly upgraded version than the one shown here - better processor, graphics card, hard drive, Vista Home Premium) is that the included audio card is below par. However, it was easy to fix it with an external USB sound card for around $20.
The slim form factor makes the product look nice, but at the cost of making it less upgradable (i.e. full size graphics cards won't work)
The vostro does not come with a ton of junk software (unlike my Sony Vaio).
The fan and hard drive are very quiet, which makes it great for a home computer.
I considered this along with the HP slimline. I went with the Dell because it was quieter, was cheaper for a similar configuration and since I needed to place it on the floor, this just looked better :) Also, the build quality is surprisingly good.

I bought the HP tx 2120 us at Fry's in Phoenix in early June, 2008. When I got it home, I could go no further than turning it on because someone at the factory had swiped their finger across the reader and it would not recognize anything I did. If I lived closer to Phoenix, it would have gone back to the store that night. Instead, I spend hours on the phone with an Indian tech who was worse than worthless. Then I spent more time with an on-line chat tech who was equally as bad. These people had no idea what to do other than to send out some recovery discs. I told them to send the discs but they never came. I decided to run all the diagnostics I could find and eventually, I was able to get it to allow me to swipe my own finger and I was finally able to use it. The next issue was when I tried to connect to my HP Laserjet printer. Nothing I or a local tech did helped get the two connected. Finally, I tried the on-line chat again. This guy was at least as bad as the others; he kept

Strengths:
Screen = Large Widescreen 15.4 in; Battery life = Long; Remote control for watching movies; Smart touch-sensitive multimedia controls; Good speakers; Dual audio outputs; Bluetooth and infrared connectivity; Multi-card reader; PRICE = REALLY LOW $600 after $185 rebate at Office Depot!
Weaknesses:
HDD = Small 160 GB; OS = Occupies too much memory Win Vista; USB Ports = 3; Win Vista does not come on a reloadable CD/DVD; No webcam.
After surveying more than 10 medium-sized compact laptops, I have come to the conclusion that this is the best available at this time (June 2008) in its class.
Sony's were a definite No-No because of their cost factor. Gateway, Acer and ASUS were on the other side of the cost spectrum which worried me! I have used 3 DELL laptops till now (and they have all been pretty good), so I wanted to try something else. Toshiba and HP were left to fight it out!
My minimum requirements were:
1. At least 250 GB HDD.
2. At least 2 GB of RAM.
3. At least 15.4 inch

HP Pavilion TX2120US 12.1" Laptop (AMD Turion 64 X 2 Dual Core TL-64 Processor, 4 GB RAM, 250 GB Hard Drive, DVD Drive, Vista Premium)
First the negative.
1. Because the HP Pavillion TX2120US comes pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit operating system this has limited this hardwares ability to run some of the best Tablet PC software out there, such as Education Pak, Ink Desktop 2.0 etc... which are all Microsoft Products. I hope in the near future that Microsoft updates their software to run on their new 64 bit system.
2. Stylus: It's not that the stylus is super cheap but there are other stylus' out there that are definitely higher quality. ;)
3. Sound: Sound isn't horrible but it definitely doesn't deserve to get a "Great" rating either. Fact is anybody buying this tablet should know that the fingerpring reader, the screen, several buttons, the mic, the camera, and the sound all come from the screen which pivots on a very small joint. Which by the way is not cheap

This computer worked fine for 45 days and then when I turned it on one day, no image appeared on the screen. I tried another monitor but still, nothing. I brought it back to Micro Center where I bought it and they said if it was a software problem, it wasn't covered under warranty. Of course, would you know it? The said it was a software problem; the video needed resetting, or whatever. So I was out another $72. (By the way, whatever you do, don't buy anything from Micro Center; they'll fleece you!)
Then two weeks after Micro Center "fixed" it, I turn it on again and it got stuck on the diagnostic screen. I had to hard-power-down twice before it worked. I should have listened to the bad reviews but the price was enticing. So, if you value your money, DON'T BUY THIS COMPUTER and don't buy from Micro Center!

The a6400f replaces my old barebones self-built PII that I've had for years. Chose this computer as it's cheaper than Dell (my first was a ridiculously priced, albeit sweet Dell machine), seemingly more reliable than Gateway and Compaq, and ultimately had the perfect combo of price/value. I picked up on sale for $479, and at that price, you can't beat Dual Core with 500gb hard drive and 3gb ram. Was ready to pay $519, but caught the sale, so had to act fast. So far, so good. Haven't experienced any significant problems with Vista, but I'm not doing anything fancy. Just set it up to be web surfer and maybe a media archive, considering big hard drive. I immediately tweaked things by removing unwanted programs and setting security to conservative levels. I would recommend this machine as I researched the $450 to $600 price range extensively and always came back to this. No, not my stimulus check money...I just needed a good PC and was not going to pay much more than this anyway.

The HP Pavilion M8430F Desktop PC I purchased from amazon.com arrived within 2 days of the order. Perfect timing. Initial setup was easy and the documentation, though minimal, was adequate. After several days of working with the unit the DVD recorder/player stopped working. I immediately called HP's toll free customer support and after turning the unit over to their control on-line, the technician edited the registry and solved the problem. I was impressed to say the least. The unit is fast at rendering video clips, which is the main reason I chose this computer in the first place. However, that said, not all of my video/audio editing software has installed successfully. The software in question was updated to work with Vista but apparently only works with Vista's 32 bit version. From what I can glean from user forums the software really doesn't like any version of Vista. So, now I am at a crossroad. I'd like to go back to Windows XP Pro in order to get ALL of my software to work,

If you need a good, reliable computer - DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!! Freezes up randomly on a regular basis. Called HP Customer support twice and all they did was offer to sell me their virus software at a discount price (this was after spending two hours on the phone with them)! This PC would freeze up before I ever connected it to the internet. Also called Microsoft Support twice to no avail. If you do decide to buy this piece of junk make sure you save the box and receipt so you can return it within the 30 day time frame. In the future I will avoid HP Desktop PC's at all costs.

This wouldn't have been my first choice frankly, but it fit my budget. As it turns out, it's not a bad machine. It has handled most of what I've thrown at it, and in particular, it burns DVDs extremely quickly. It's much quieter than my old machine, which was very noisy. At times I've turned it off, thinking that I was turning it on. My biggest complaint is about Vista. I don't know how a brand new machine, with almost no software installed, can get the blue screen of death. But that's on MS, not HP.
There is the standard amount of software and come-ons, but that can be gutted. All in all, it's a nice buy particularly for the price.

I thinked a lot before purchasing a Laptop, it took me 2 months reviews and finally I decided for this one.
Everything in this Laptop is perfect, yes it heats little more than my previous but it is fast and it doesnt create any problems on whatever you do in it, like playing, my brother does that a lot but doesnt effect on it. i loaded the hard drive to maximum and it still performed fast. I waited two months to create a review and i tried everything in him.
it came up that its tuff to,:)
The only minor problem it have is:
In the begining when you install updates the cam will not work properly,
but you cam fix it in 2 min at device manager.
Have fun, :)

Okay, at first I wrote a review saying they were sending me the wrong model. I'm updating now because, after receiving TWO laptops, I finally gave up on Amazon and called HP. They explained to me that: 1) the tx2110 will, indeed, have tx2000 written all over it, and 2) the fingerprint reader is NOT where the tutorial shows - it's actually on the lefthand side of the screen (the little gold rectangle). The tutorial shows it on the keyboard, so I kept thinking I had an older model! I showed it to half a dozen people (all very computer literate), and none of them noticed it either!
Also, the keyboard is rather flimsy. I've had this laptop for only ONE week, and I've already detected weakness and squeaking in the area where my right wrist rests. That's also where the Wireless antenna is housed, so I'm hoping it holds up under the stress.

So far I am very impressed with my new HP tablet notebook. Many other reviews highlight all the positive features. There are a couple of negative features though. One is Vista 64bit. If you have older software you will run into compatibility issues and if the software works it will run significantly slower than when running under Vista 32bit. I have an Avertech Notebook which has a slower processor and less memory, but is running Vista 32bit and it runs circles around my new HP tablet notebook on a lot of the software I use. I purchased and returned an older model of HP's tablet notebook. The tablet screen was a joke. However this model has a Wacom touch screen which is unbelievably more impressive. The only other negative is the screen is grainy. You get used to it, but when you see another screen next to it you are reminded of how bad it is. Saying all this I would still highly recommend this product and am giving it five stars. Most people aren't going to have the older software so this

This Pavilion and Windows Vista have been an awesome upgrade. It's amazingly quiet (dare I say "silent"?) when I am playing World of Warcraft, burning a DVD or using a high-memory program like Photoshop. In fact, I can do all three at once and this beast doesn't break a sweat. A great price for a quad-core with plenty of RAM and a good graphics card. I'll plan to add more RAM eventually, but so far the included 3 GB has been great.

I have had this computer for a couple of weeks now and I am happy with it. It looks like there are some detailed reviews already so I will try to keep this one brief. The good: computer works well, the pen and touch screen are neat (it remains to be seen if I use the features all that much). The keyboard feels nice. The one tiny hinge for the screen actually feels pretty solid. We just set up skype and the camera and microphone appear to be just fine. I have not yet noticed any compatibility issues with Vista64, but I don't have a lot of extras installed.
The bad: The computer does stay pretty warm. I got a Belkin laptop cooler (Amazon, 20 bucks) and I think it helps. With the cooler the computer fan usually stays in the off or low mode. When the fan in the laptop goes to high speed it is pretty noticeable. It does seem like the fan doesn't run as much when I am holding the computer vertically in tablet mode with the exhaust at the top of the computer. Now here are a couple

This PC can do it all. I am a big gamer and that is the reason i purchased this PC. Just to test it out I had a game running, music playing, downloading off the internet AND ran a PC scan and the game NEVER slowed down. Amazing. If you don't like the Norton's it comes with, just uninstall and get a free anti-virus program off the internet and your all set. It comes with so many PC diagnostics and auto updates you barely have to do anything to keep it up to date on drivers and BIOS. Many people say they don't like Vista and their is some validity to this. However, you can go into control panel and select "classic xp" under themes and it will look and act just like XP, set your PC up and when you are ready, switch to Vista theme. For the price you cannot beat this machine. get it now before energy prices make everything more expensive. Very satisfied.

This is a quick review of the TX2110US. I've had this for over a month now and I couldn't be more satisfied with this purchase. I'm glad to report that this computer "just works" -- everything was as advertised and it certainly doesn't have the "cheap" feel and subpar assembly quality of other computer manufacturers. The keyboard is ergonomically designed (full size keys with nice response), it doesn't get hot (the TL-62 runs cooler than other AMD processors), the finger print reader, bluetooth, wi-fi just works flawlessly. I can't even stress how cool the active tablet mode works -- my handwriting on the tablet looks exactly like what I have on paper... and windows journal recognizes it! Really cool!
I've also had a few pleasant surprises: A full version (with license and all) of Microsoft OneNote 2007 and Corel Painter Essentials 4 comes free with this computer. Another surprise was the screen quality; I was expecting it to be subpar because of the tablet feature, but it isn't.
