I did a LOT of research before deciding on the Stylus 1010. I'm so glad I did. This camera does a fantastic job, and delivers crisp pictures with true to life colors almost every time. The only problem I had was focusing in low lighting conditions (but I wasn't suprised either time, since the light was so low). The focusing is quick and there is little lag time between shots. It's so nice and compact, and the view screen in the back is huge. I really like the creative features like black and white or sepia choices. It also has the ability to frame shots, or super impose messages like "Happy Birthday" or "Congratulations." It's really a great little camera that's fun to use. I bought the 2 GB card, which was really worth it. With the 10megabite images, the internal memory gets used up fast. The card really is a must. I ended up buying the camera from Amazon, and it was delivered before the anticipated date of delivery. I also bought accessory packages from Cameta Camera, which

Got this camera a week ago, and am happy so far, I am not an experienced photographer by any means and I will admit that there is more functions than I can use, but it does come equipped with easy to understand functions for those of us that just want to take some good family pictures. I used it at my sons football game last night and had a little trouble with blurry pics when they were moving, I even tried it in the sports shooting mode and the pics justcame out dark. When they did stand still, the pictures were great. I do have some advice about getting that extra lithium battery for a back up. First of all I recommend it for those times that you need to get those important shots and the battery goes dead. This camera only uses the "infoLithium" style batterys, DO NOT purchase a cheaper one from other battery stores, you will get a black screen that tells you that you need to use only "infolithium batteries" and will have to return it as I did. I will tell you that Buy.com had the

Short and very sweet. I'm having a lot of fun with this camera. You won't believe the quality of your night shots. Buy it! You'll see what I mean, that's if, you haven't already.

Excellent camera. We use it for sports events. The first and second shot response is terific to catch the rapid activity of soccer, lacrosse, and swimming. For the first time we are able to use the zoom while shooting movies. The stability system allows us to zoom across the field or pool and get stable movies. With the rapid continuous shooting mode we were able to get clear photos of player movement to improve strokes and dives for competition swimming. I have some trouble operating the jog control. But my wife has no problem with her smaller fingers and by using her fingernails.

What a geat camera! The zoom feature is really a plus. And the pictures are very clear. We find another great feature everytime we use it. This camera comes with the best download program we have ever had. Would highly recommend this camera to anyone.

Quick ship and was as advertised. Pulled the camera out of the box, put in the batteries, and started taking pictures. So simple. Then I looked at the directions. I did this because my daughter was taking it on a field trip that day. She had only the instruction I gave her. I know she didn't read directions. Now have some great photos of our grand kids. Highly recommend this camera.
The only reason for the 4 stars on pricing is I wish all prices were even lower.
Great deal and camera

A very lightweight, extremely diverse camera that performs well in just about every situation from bright sun to darkness. The 18x zoom eliminates the need for multiple lenses and there is virtually no delay at all once the shutter is pressed. A fun to use camera all in one package.

The unit is verty compact and light weight. It is easy to use and particularly convenient for travel applicatuions. My unit has 60GB hard disk drive which is sufficient for most of my one to two week travel applications.

I bought the W30 as an upgrade for the Pentax WPi which I have had for about three years. That camera gave good service and met its waterproof claims. It was used extensively for kayaking, skiing and snorkelling and eventually failed after being taken too deep.
The W30 is now about 15 months old and has been used for skiing trips and travel in Oman but had not been used in water. I have been very happy with image quality and ease of use. I take mostly landscape photos so tend not to use a lot of the alternative settings. Reading other reviews I see a lot of comments about problems with use in water and I want to concentrate mainly on this area, especially as it is the distinguishing feature of the camera.
Last week I took it snorkelling and clipped it onto the diver flag bouy I was towing. This put it about about six inches below the surface. after swimming out to the reef I unclipped the camera and found the LCD screen was half full of water. Returning to the shore I found the battery

I bought this camera from a local camera shop (for more than I could have purchased it at Amazon...darn!), and it is wonderful. I purchased it after lugging my beloved Nikon SLR around Paris, Barcelona and London this past year. I wanted great photos, but not a great big bag to haul around. This is the perfect solution! It is light, easy to use, has great zoom and photo clarity. With an 8GB memory stick (purchased separately), we took over 1000 photos and still had room for 1000 more. The battery is rechargeable, and the charger is a nice, small, light unit with folding prongs. I had to recharge the battery four times over 18 days and 1000 photos. I bought an extra battery to make sure I never got caught without power, and it wasn't necessary, but it never hurts for peace of mind. The focus is fast so we rarely missed what we were after. I'm delighted!!!

I want to start by saying: "I Love SONY, I love this Camera"
I've had 3 SONY cameras, first a P90, then a H2 and now this H50, and I can say, they've done a great job!
PROS: Everythin: I've taken lots of pictures in all modes, including night... The smile shutter feature is just fun, creative and amazing, my children love it. It also has a remote control, you can even create smiles with it's on-camera editing options. The screen size is just great (although I prefrer to use the finder). The 15x zoom, night shot, face detection... well, you need to buy it to enjoy it. At the end the resulting pictures just meke you say: "I made a great choice"
CONS: When you turn it on with the lens cap attached, it will push it out. (In the H2, when this occured, an on-screen message will appear: "lens cap attached") I suppose SONY knows about this flaw and it's working on fixing this with a firmware update.
Hey, buy it and enjoy it! You'll agree with me as soon as you take your first picture!

When I first got this camera, I was very happy with its features. I like being able to cue up specific scenes without having to fast forward or rewind tape. I also liked the size and HDD capacity
But then I actually watched some of the video I had recorded on vacation. My jaw hit the floor - I simply could not believe how horrible the quality was. There were jagged digital artifacts everywhere. This camera cannot handle motion at all. It lacks clarity and the colors appear washed out. The poor picture quality is unacceptable at this price point. I returned the camera and bought a refurbished (with an extended guarantee) canon HV20 from this website. I am VERY VERY happy with this new camera - while it uses tapes it shoots in HIGH DEF and the picture quality is superb.
Don't make the same mistake I initially made - avoid this camera like the plague. Read the review of this model on camcorderinfo.com to see just how poor the picture quality is.

This camera is amazing! I can take great videos with the XD M+ memory card, the picture quality is outstanding, you just have to make sure you put it in the right mode, you don't even have to open the manual, the camera tells you everything about each mode. I went on a trip and blew up certain pictures to 8x11 and everyone that comes over thinks they are professional! This camera is worth the money, if you are looking, you've gotta get it!

I'm quite fond of the Sony megazoom series of cameras, and I recently upgraded from a Sony DSC-H1 to DSC-H50. I was actually still quite happy with the H1, more than 3 years after buying it, but a couple of features on the H50 made me invest in the new model:
* The camera can be operated through a remote control. In addition to self-portraits, this is good for leaving your camera somewhere on its own, pointing to a place you think an interesting animal, insect or something will appear, and then shoot. It's difficult to get close to animals and insects in person sometimes.
* The camera has a screen on the back that can be tilted at various angles, making it good for taking photos from high above your head and conveniently also from ground level. I find this option often makes for creative photography!
Just a quick note on the "smile detector". It works beyond belief! I'm not sure how useful it actually is, but it's amazing how quickly the camera responds when the smile appears.

This camera snaps a picture more quickly than any other I've ever used. That is important when you have a baby and a puppy to catch looking just right.
The screen is large and easy to view. The 7x zoom is a great feature. The pictures are gorgeous with the 10 MP.
The only negative is that the flash seems to be on the opposite side of the lens of any camera I've used. This takes getting used to when you want the flash on top when taking pictures.

I did alot of research before buying this camera. Being that I am not camera savy I wanted something that I could point and shoot and get brilliant pictures. I was in the market to get the Canon A560 but they were sold out at all the stores in my area. The clerk showed me the A470 and I was instantly impressed by it. The A470 was easy to learn how to use. I downloaded the pictures for the first time today and was impressed by the quality. It doesn't matter if the photos are taken inside or outdoors - the color is vibrant and the image is crisp and clear. I am having so much fun with this camera - probably even driving my kids crazy by taking pictures all the time. I think anyone who purchases this camera will be very happy with it.

great camera - really happy with it. Easy to operate, got the features I was looking for: large zoom, "wide angle" via in camera stitching, dual stabilization, high mega pixels, pocket size, good price, good quality, nice design.

I used to own the DSC-H5, but decided to upgrade to the DSC-H50. I like the new features! It has a night shot switch that lets you take pictures in the dark! It uses night vision technology. The DSC-H5 has 7.2 MP and 12X zoom. This one has 9 MP and 15X zoom. Buy this camera!

After a pretty bad experience with another camcorder, (rhymes with camsung) we were pretty adamant about doing our research. For the price range, I would have to say that the 810 is going to be one of the better cameras you will find.
After letting it charge and getting it going, which was really easy, we have shot more video in the last two days than two years with our other p.o.s.
Positives-
-The zoom is fluid and crisp.
-quick start is a wonderful feature; it actually takes a second to start recording once you hit the quick start button.
-I am glad that I have the option to record to DVD, hard disc or memory stick.
-Light weight.
-responsive touch screen
-have not had any disc errors yet. (Main problem with other hunk of junk)
-Infrared recording. (My wife loves this feature because we can now record our kids while they are sleeping.)
-decent picture quality, if you know how to use the camera feature. But who really uses a camcorder as a camera?
There are probably more to list but

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3PRFAYV4K81ZL A big part of the reason I bought this camera was for its smooth interval recording (time-lapse) feature. Strangely, Sony's higher end high definition camera HDR-SR5 does not have this feature. I have been quite satisfied with this feature's flexibility and user-friendliness. For some reason, the smooth interval recording has a 12 hour time limit, so if you want to do time lapses longer than 12 hours you have to stop the recording a couple times a day and re-start it and it will go for another 12 hours.
For regular video usage it's a good camera. The 2000x digital zoom, if you haven't guessed, is comically useless (not that I expected anything more). The tele-macro capabilities are pretty impressive.
As others have mentioned, it does not come with a firewire (IEEE 1394) cable that is required if you want to download video to your computer. I knew that before buying it and picked up a standard 4-Pin/6-Pin FireWire cable
