From what I have read on these timeline series, updating your Graphics Driver and LAN driver might fix the problem with the CPU usage spiking during idle. If the unit runs slow when its unplugged but it runs fine when plugged in, its probably some kind of power save utility or setting, set to slow down when unplugged to save battery life.

can you put the videos from the camera onto windows movie maker just by plugging it into the computer from the usb cord or something?

if you want some awesome headphones for a cheap price ($20) go buy some skullcandy ink'd headphones. they are have the highest 'quality to price' ratio outh there.
