After shutting the system down, I examined the area more closely. Looking at the black screen I could see what looked like fog that was slowly evaporating. Condensation had formed on the inside of the display! When I Googled it I was surprised to see the number of articles and forums documenting this problem. On some Websites I saw photos of iMacs where water droplets had formed on the inside of the display! Next, I called Apple Technical support. The support agent said he had never heard of this problem. I told him if he Googled it he could see for himself. He then put me on hold so he could research it. After a few minutes he returned and said that some systems do have this problem and suggested I exchange it for another one. I then called my local Apple Sore and spoke with a manager. I asked him if knew of a condensation problem with the iMacs. He also said he never heard of it. He asked me where I purchased it from. I told him Amazon. He said a lot of resellers repackage defective merchandise and sell it as new (I'm pretty sure Amazon doesn't do this). I thought if the Apple Store manager claims none of the iMacs they sell have this problem then I will buy one from them; which is what I did. So, after returning home from the store I set it up. I then pressed the power button and crossed my fingers. After a few minutes I could see condensation beginning to form in the same area as the first one. Two iMacs in a row! In my opinion this is a major design flaw. And also, like the first system, the condensation did evaporate. were selling...I got the feeling they were truly interested in making sure I understood the differences between Windows Vista and Leopard and spent a great deal of time showing me features in ilife and Leopard in general. This made a difference to me in that the APPLE store staff exhibited such "refreshing" professionalism. I think that in itself made a big difference in helping me make a decision to try APPLE products. Their support was top notch compared to the experience I had received in the past from other vendors.

After I picked up my Mac Mini...set up was a breeze. I had a Dell 17" 1703 monitor that was formerly coupled to my Dell Dimension 8300 that I hooked up to with no problems. I had a made a decision to get the APPLE keyboard due to the Command features and the fact that I liked the way the keys felt and am glad. Dell speakers and a Logitech wireless mouse completed the set up and I was off and running! The OS booted up so quickly that I immediately thought I'll never be able to go back to VISTA again..LOL! And setup was effortless..wireless..email..all very intutive and painless. No wonder APPLE has so many people switching!
Once everything was set up I was working within the OS within minutes and what's cool is on the APPLE website there are many informative video tutorials as well as written support that helps a lot.

For video & pictures the OS recognized both my Sony digital & video cameras and I was able to download all my files seamlessly with iphoto and imovie. Here is where I can see the advantages of having additional memory but generally it wasn't too much of an issue..I will eventually upgrade my memory in the near future..

Overall for the weekend spent acclimating myself to this amazing little computer, the experience has been pretty darn good! I still have much to learn and will follow up with a more detailed review further on down the road...

But for first impressions I'm pretty happy! The bottom line is...look at your computing needs and budget and work within those parameters. You don't really need to pump out a couple of grand for an ideal APPLE experience..If you have a good monitor, keyboard and mouse..and are looking to change to the APPLE OS this would be the best and economical way to go!

The cons: You know by now the keyboard is small. Battery life is this side of 3 hours (haven't run this one down yet). And it gets warm. I would add that Linux has the downside of not being compatible with Windows based programs. There are a couple things I use (e.g.Quicken) that I'd run also on my laptop. Tough call here. I debated, chose the 20G, then around the replacement/return, debated again and still went with the 20G. I use a Treo for my very mobile needs (recipes, lists, contacts, scheduling, etc) and keep all that backed up on the desktop. I ALWAYS have the Treo with me, so I don't need all that on the mobile Eeee. I will back up Quicken elsewhere. I can opt to install Windows or Windows lite if this incompatibility bothers me later. For now I am liking Linux.

I have run into one insurmountable compatibility problem around a mapping project. A solution workable with Treo Palm OS, Eee Linux, desktop Windows and my GPS unit appears beyond my capabilities. I can live with that, same as with the lack of Quicken backup.

Last, why not the 901? Well, the Atom is unproven, and I am cynical and wary of first generation efforts. Also the 901 weight is inching up there a bit. Why not the Wind? Processor and weight again - to me every ounce matters. And the Wind weight appears to be with the 3 cell battery.

I'm traveling this weekend and again for 3 weeks in September. No question the Eee is going along. I will have my files, photos, music, email, Skype and Internet all right there, trouble free, for under 2 pounds. Wonderful!

I dont really notice a difference. I havent heard the sound from the 650 series, but I cant imagine that there is that much difference.

So overall I am pleased with the purchase because all of my requirements were met, but all the 'bells and whistles' came up short. I probably would have been just as happy with 650 series, but amazon had such a great price (low price, free shipping, no tax) on this one I cant really complain. If you are looking to save a few bucks get the 650. I am crossing my fingers that there will be in the near future a firmware update which will resolve the DLNA and RSS feed issues. If this becomes the case I will REALLY be pleased with the TV.

The one thing I really prefer over the 650 is the touch of color on the 750 goes around the entire tv, whereas the 650 only has it on the top and bottom. This is purely aesthetic reason and it can only be seen in a well lit room.

On a side note, CEVA delivered the TV 6 days earlier than the expected arrival date. The TV was ordered on thursday and it was in my house by the next week friday (6 days). I live in california and the TV originated from the east coast.

which transmits, records, takes pictures, etc. When you move around, it is a bit blurry, but for ordinary transmission it is right up there with most in quality. It also contains a DVD/CD burner and player, which are very fast, even though it seems terribly fragile when you open it. I like being able to have the choice of Cable DSL, dial-up and Wireless Internet. When at home I just plug in the Ethernet wire and when traveling it is very easy to get a signal just about anywhere I go, (call your service provider to get the pass code for wireless service). There is the media card insert, two USB ports and lots of standard software. You can read all of that here on the web page, but the look and feel (the keyboard is very easy on the hands and wrists) is sleek. It also comes with a one-year warranty with the option to buy more.

Here's a little secret. Don't buy past the standard one-year warranty, as Dell will contact you within six to nine months to offer you an extended warrantee at a lesser cost. They want your business. Why pay more? I suggest getting that warrantee when it is offered. Also, a good, secure, padded carry-bag is a must. "Targus" makes great bags that are relatively inexpensive. One last note: Dell has one of the best reputations for quality computers and they have home service, meaning they come to YOU! Have fun!

reviews from pros and consumers alike and doesn't cost a whole lot more for the extra real estate. But it's a massive screen, not only devouring valuable living room space but threatening to absorb too much of the owner's and the kids' attention, as well as serve as an attractive danger to the prying hands of curious 1 and 3-year-olds. The graphics have a slight advantage over the 20" inch because they display well laterally, but lateral sight lines while good for movies are not what a serious user needs, whether for photography or professional practice. Finally, to make that 24" inch screen work up to its potential, you really need to add costly extras (or pick up the 3Ghz model with a different, more powerful graphics card--being shown at the Apple site but not as yet on Amazon).

3. The CLINCHER. I thought the entry-level 2.4Ghz would be more than adequate (it probably is) until I read the most recent reviews at Macworldddotcom. The 2.66Ghz 1. comes with double the Ram (easily and cheaply installed by the user, I'll admit) PLUS 2. a speed boost, 3. a slightly bigger hard drive, and 4. a slightly better video card--for less than $300 more. It didn't require Macworld's pointing out that the 2.66Ghz represents the better value. Moreover, their tests of the two machines revealed that the slightly more expensive machine was actually a greater improvement in terms of speed than its published stats--a mere .266 Ghz increase--would suggest: their testers registered processing times for the 2.66GHz model that were 13% faster than those recorded for the 2.4Ghz model.

4. Finally, the choice of seller. In the past I've scrutinized the numbers closely, trying to determine if the deal from Apple Store, even with Educators' Rates and various incentives like free printers, was truly better than Amazon's. At best, the numbers were "close," and were never conclusively in favor of Apple Store. And I've never realized any non-monetary advantages by purchasing Apple products from Apple Store, whereas Amazon has shown its customer-centric colors in my favor on a number of occasions, including my last two computer purchases. Apple Store, on the other hand, has in the past come up short more than once. (They certainly weren't helpful when they kept calling me about purchasing extended service contracts.) Moreover, simply checking out from Apple Store after a purchase amounts to an exercise in self-control because of all the "add-ons" they try to convince you to purchase before clicking on the "done" button. So once again, I'm giving Amazon the opportunity to disappoint me for the first time.

I found a few of the default voices were softer than others. Since it seems possible to create your own voice sets, and some voice sets are louder than others, I would assume one could edit a copy of the default voice and increase the gain / volume and reinstall, but there are a number of built in voices that are wholly satisfactory in the volume department.

If I had to list any cons, it would be that base package voices still show up in the menu even if you remove them from the TomTom with the manager software. The inability to find an address on a highway might be a weakness of all navigators for all I know, as I've not had much experience with any others.

If you buy this, definitely spend some time with the management software. There is a goodly amount of user supplied content ( maps, points of interest databases, and even voices ) that are free, as well as the normal software updates.

When I left the store with it the most difficult part of setting it up was getting it out of the evil tough plastic packaging that most of us are familiar with. A car charger was included, so I plugged it in, answered a few basic questions, did a short tour and was on my way to my next destination within only a few minutes. Normally I can't find my way out of a paper bag, even if I'm still outside of the bag, so this is probably the best $200 I've ever spent. A separate data cable is also included for connecting to your home PC ( which will be required to update the software and add new features to the device ).

There is an optional attachment and service you can purchase that will give you real time weather and traffic data. I understand that there is a monthly fee for this additional service, but I've not yet bought the extra receiver so I can't comment on its performance or cost.

In short - if you want a very well rounded GPS navigator for an excellent price, you can't go wrong with the XL 330. I know what a few friends and family are getting for the holidays this year.

can map up to 80 functions to the buttons on the mouse. For example, you can set functions like zoom, toggle, play, rewind, etc. Also, the range on the device is impressive, about 100 feet.

One drawback is that you have to have a pretty steady hand in certain circumstances for double clicking or closing applications. But I suspect I will get better at using it with time. I got the device on sale at Amazon for $60 which I believe is a great value. Much above $100 and it becomes a less compelling value (unless you do a lot of presentations).

The DLNA server software included with the TV is very, very slow. I mean it! It feels as if the software has to warm-up before it can perform the function, for example opening a folder takes about 7 seconds. The folder had no files. That's a pretty badly written software, you feel as you are beta-testing the software. You can use other DLNA software such as TwonkyMedia, which is MUCH faster, to fill in the bridge but you'll run into another issue: "This codec is not supported", which means, for those not too computer savvy, basically means I can't play this files with this type of compression (note: compression type is not the same as file extension.). Then reading the manual you will also noticed that each codec it supports has a maximum resolution of a certain size, else if the file movies exceed the resolution, it will spit out another error message: "Resolution is not supported". Hopefully down the road Samsung will issue a firmware to add more codec support (MKV, RM, OGM, FLAC, WMV, and many others currently not supported!) Another alternative is wait for DLNA server softwares to add support for this TV series using transcoders, similar to how TVersity re-encodes files the PS3 cannot read to codec formats the PS3 can read right before before streaming it into the PS3. However, USB built-in video support won't ever be practical without a firmware upgrade...

But, in the meantime, the feature isn't worth taking up valuable ports in my 4 port router. Hook up your computer to your TV if you have the option, as that is still the best way to get all your movies to play.

Despite all the negatives, I highly recommend this TV. This TV deserves all the praises it gets from all other reviewers; however, don't expect it to be much different from the 46A750 in regards to feature due to the limitations. If your decision on this set lies solely on the DLNA, pass on this and grab a 46A650 and save yourself the premium you are being charged for a broken feature. Do note this set has built-in woofers that the 46A650 does not have. The built-in woofer was adequate for my needs.

I finally get my SS-receiver and connect to my system I will be able to compare which one does better upconverting.
Unfortunately, when you switch from component to HDMI, you have to press several buttons on the remote. First where the video comes from, then the audio. Maybe if I use a different port you do not need to do this, but I ordered a Logitech Harmone 550 to eliminate the 6 remotes that I have for the 6 devices just to simplify changing devices especially for the kids and wife.
The sound from the TV speakers is just great if you do not intend to purchase a surround system. But since I will be getting a 7.1 surround system, I have turned the sound off on the TV.
The USB-port works great. I placed an MPG-file and one DVD-file showing Shakira's Hips Don't Lie live performance in Germany on a memory device, and it recognizes them automatically. You could easily select them to play and it plays them nicely.
What I did not know was that there is a special offer from Samsung, which is not advertised anywhere, that if you buy a unit of 650 or 750 series before a certain date, you will get a wireless device to connect the TV to your network at home (DLNA) for free. This allows me to play movies at a computer on the network and display it on the TV. I found out about it at Audio Video Science Forum. I should be getting it soon. Video, I read about, may not play with MS Windows Media Player, but who uses this any ways? At least I do not as there are better media players such as PowerDVD and WinDVD on the market. Let's see if any of these works.
Has the shiny screen bothered me? I have located this unit next to a huge sliding glass patio door facing north and I have not seen any annoying reflection. Maybe if I place it opposite of the door I will. The only thing that shines into my eyes is the late afternoon sun in the summer, in which case I just close the curtain.
At a store, when you walk by HDTV's even LCD-units, you will notice the heat emanating from the screen. Having watched TV for a while, I do not notice the heat on this unit. Maybe if I keep it on for an entire day will I notice it, but so far, having watched 4 hours of TV in the summer, I am pleased to say that it did not add significant heat to our living room.
There is many more features that will take time for me to explore. The RSS-feed is one of them when you connect it to the internet.
When I bought this unit, I noticed that Amazon was selling the older model, the 650, for a hundred dollar less. It was therefore a no-brainer for me to get into this, especially since Amazon will price match a lower price. It was perfect timing since I have not seen a lower price on this unit after I bought it. I am comfortable spending about $1800 on this unit, unfortunately shipping is $150 extra. I saw a lower priced unit from a camera store in New York, but I rather go for no-hassle, customer-friendly purchase at Amazon. A lower price on this planet, BTW does not mean you will get a refund from Amazon. Buying from Amazon gives me a better peace of mind, just in case. Since I bought the unit with my Visa-card, the warranty is doubled to 2 years.
I like this TV and only time will tell when it requires replacement. Let's hope when the 240 Hz frame rate and 100,000:1 contrast ratio are available.
