Samsung NC10-14GW 10.2" Netbook - White
I previously owned one of the 1st gen 7" Asus Eee machines, and an Acer Aspire One netbook, and I can definitely say that this is the best machine of the bunch !

I purchased the white one, since the blue one seems to be on backorder forever. The matte screen is nice and easy to read, the keyboard is AWESOME - I can touch type without any issues whatsoever. Battery life is incredible - I am easily getting 6 or 7 hours a charge, without paying attention to conserving power at all. Also, one of the things I like the most is that the balance is right - there is enough weight below the keyboard that it wants to sit like a regular notebook. On the Acer Aspire One, the screen weighs about as much as the keyboard, so it always wants to tip back... Another minor positive is that the slip case is better than the Acer Aspire one - it's sort of a fake-suede bag with a flip cover. Finally, it came with very little bloatware on it - I uninstalled the trial of McCafee and installed the free AVG

Samsung NC10-14GW 10.2" Netbook - White
USER BACKGROUND:
I've been involved with PC's since PC's came into existence. Through the years I've owned a wide range of notebooks from luggables, desktop replacements, to travel companions (currently I own a couple of 12" touch screen tablets and two HP 20" HDX media notebooks used as desktop replacements). I was ready for a new travel notebook and started to follow the evolving "Netbook" category. As in the past, I was faced with a substantial expenditure (several thousand dollars) to get one of the current higher end travel notebooks that would meet my general laptop requirements; a light, relatively powerful, good battery life and compact design. The evolving +/- $500 Netbook category piqued my curiosity and I started to read reviews and study the new product offerings including their upgradability potential, or lack thereof.

INTENDED USE:
In my experience, most air travelers use a laptop similar to myself, web browsing, email, and light office applications (word, excel, etc);

Samsung NC10-14GW 10.2" Netbook - White
The Samsung NC10 is clearly the best netbook on the market right now. As a previous owner of the Asus 1000h I can say that this notebook beats the 1000h easily. While the specs for both laptops are very similar, where the NC10 excels is the keyboard. The NC10 probably has best keyboard of all the netbooks. Most of the keys are also naturally placed unlike how the 1000h is missing the right "shift" key which really bothered me. Another area where the NC10 beats the 1000h is the touchpad and the touchpad buttons itself. Even though the Samsung has a single button for both functions it presses really easily and is not ultra stiff like the 1000h I had and the touchpad sensitivity is alot better than the 1000h.

The NC10 also has great styling and feels very sturdy with 3 usb ports in addition to a sd card slot. It has virtually no noise and it barely gets warm. In fact as I am writing this review right now, the bottom of NC10 actually feels cool to the touch. The screen is very bright and

ASUS EEEPC1000-W004 Eee PC 1000 10" Notebook ? Pearl White
I had doubts about whether I would like this computer, but good things can come in small packages.

There is nothing fancy as far as overall performance. If you want a high-powered laptop or a gaming machine, look elsewhere. But, if you want to run simple applications, do office word processing, take notes, or surf the internet this is a very nice little computer.

Out of the box, setup was very swift and easy. I love the Solid State Hard Drives on this model. It has both an 8 GB for the operating system and a 32 GB drive for storing files. If you need more, you can add an SDHC card.
The WiFi connected easily and the included webcam comes bundled with the open-source Linux program called "Cheese", a rather cheesey version of MAC's Photobooth software.

The only thing I didn't like about the computer is the operating system, Xandros. With most computers, this would be a major score decrement. But, this is Linux!!! No problem. I loaded a new version of Linux known as Ubuntu customized

Samsung NC10-14GW 10.2" Netbook - White
OVERVIEW
Let me start by saying I wanted the blue one because I felt like white would be too cheap looking. White isn't my first choice for a laptop color, but i think this is passable. I decided to take the white one rather than wait around for whenever the blue one is released.

I love this machine. The day-to-day tasks are peppy and it behaves like a normal Windows XP machine. I have purchased a RAM upgrade and am waiting for my 2GB stick to arrive, but I have been using it with the 1GB installed and haven't had any issues. The main uses for this machine I see are internet, office, and other such basic tasks. However, I also maintain a couple websites and was able to install Macromedia Dreamweaver 8 and noticed no difference in performance on this machine from my powerful desktop.

The fit and finish are excellent. Keyboard keys are sturdy and snappy. The USB ports are tight, in a good way, and provide a sense of quality when you plug things in. The screen is bright, bright enough that

Lenovo IdeaPad S10-1211UW Netbook - White
I love the size and design of this laptop but the damn 3 cell really was a deal breaker where i got the Samsung nc10 6 cell instead. I called Lenovo and they said they won't have a 6 cell version till end of dec or jan....bummer. This was really a bad mistake on Lenovo part.

Apple MacBook with 13.3" Display
In short, the answer is yes! The mac is not a pc, and you need to know that if you have never had one before there is a learning curve. It just does not do things like you are used to , and it does take some getting used to.
A week after I had received mine, and after going through what seemed to be the thousandth tutorial, I remarked to my wife that I had really screwed up, and I should have stayed with a pc. Now, some weeks later, I have learned to really appreciate the mac for what it is, a quick, trouble free tool to be used and enjoyed. I am able to do what I want so much easier than with a pc, and I really like it.
Close the lid, and it hybernates immediately. Open it and it is operational within 5 seconds and that includes being on line.
When I have to use one of the pc's in the house, I am constantly reminded of how much I love the mac. The delays in operations that I had just learned to live with are now a source of aggravation that I am no longer willing to put up

ASUS EPC1000HA-WHI001X Eee PC 1000HA 10" Netbook - Pearl White
it doesn't have a cd drive. Which isn't really an issue very often, but it can be when you need to put microsoft office on it, or an anti-virus program that you did not buy from the internet...

this problem can be fixed in two ways: you can either buy an external disk drive that hooks up with a usb for 30 bucks or so online, or you can just borrow one whenever you need one (which only works when you know someone who has one). All in all it's an amazing computer, doesn't overheat, the keyboard takes some time to get used to but even if you have huge hands it will work out well after a while...

Samsung NC10-14GW 10.2" Netbook - White
The best netbook on the market at present. The 10" form factor is small enough to be portable but big enough to comfortably view and type on. I considered the MSI Wind and ASUS 10" netbooks, but the Samsung seemed worth the higher price for the better keyboard layout and better looks and more solid case. The 6 cell battery makes it weigh a little more than I'd like, but getting 6+ hours out of the battery is worth it.

PROS
Great keyboard, Superior build quality, good camera, speakers, battery, screen. Even has VGA Out, 3 USB Ports, and an SD Card Slot (Take that MacBook Air!)

CONS/Quibbles (none significant)
Single mouse button that rocks left and right and is a bit too firm, Trackpad could be a little bigger, Comes with annoying trial McAfee anti-virus, otherwise clean design marred by "Digital Motion Camera" label above screen.

Samsung NC10-14GW 10.2" Netbook - White
I received my NC10 from [...] last week. I'm extremely impressed with what the little machine can do...

While it is a little more expensive that the Aspire or the Wind, I don't mind paying for the nicer keyboard.

It is very lightweight, and the battery is a good six hours.

For < $500 ... this machine rocks.

ASUS Eee PC 1000H-BLK066X Netbook Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz, 1GB, 160GB HDD, 10 WSVGA, 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth, Webcam, Windows XP Home (Fine Ebony)
I'm very happy with my 1000h. I'd been looking for a new laptop, something a little smaller and more portable than my aging Compaq that weights in at about 9 lbs with the battery. After reading way too many reviews for netbooks, it came down to a choice between the Asus 1000h or the MSI Wind. I decided to go with the Asus 1000h with the 160GB hard drive, just because I've never had any problems with Asus motherboards.

First off, this is a slick looking machine. It doesn't really matter to me what my computer looks like, but this is an eye catching device - shiny and svelte. As others have mentioned, however, it is a fingerprint magnet. The 1024x600 screen is sharp and clear, and is very visible even from side angles.

Performance-wise, I'm reasonably impressed with this. With the 1.6 Ghz Atom, it is not super-powered beast, but it's run just about everything I've thrown at it so far. It comes with Windows XP, which runs very fast on it. It runs Office fine, decent Photoshop performance,

MSI Microstar Wind U100-279US 10" Notebook - White
Nothing to complain. The only thing I added was another 1GB of RAM.
Weird, once you have done so, the warranty is void, since the sticker over the screw is destroyed.
A great bargain for $480, good quality and excellent performance!
Webcam, 160GB harddisk, Bluetooth, Atom-Processor, 10 inch display and a keyboard thats big enough.
Make sure you order the one with 6 cell battery ... enough for 5.5 hours of fun.

Lenovo IdeaPad S10-1211UW Netbook - White
Bought this little beauty and have had it about 3 days, and I have to say I absolutely love it. Compared to many of the other netbooks I've tried out (ASUS, Acer, etc), this one is so sturdy and has such a nice fit and finish. The screen is bright and vibrant. If you're thinking about this netbook versus another, pick this one! You will not be dissapointed.

MSI Microstar Wind U100-279US 10" Notebook - White
This is a mini laptop to travel and work in your dialy life. I recommended to upgrade the RAM to 2 GB, and Windows Vista work fine if you don't use a big software. Nice contruction, a long life of battery (6 cells). Please use the activation bottoms if your need wi-fi and other services, you must do it in after the first boot. This is the best choice at the same family mini laptops.

MSI Microstar Wind U100-411US 10" Notebook - White
Awesome product for the price. 10' LED screen size just perfect, huge keyboard and complete display. Starts up and shuts down superfast. Two bad points though: 3-cell battery life is really short, maybe an hr or two at most, and the computer tends to be kinda heavier at the back making it easily (or at least seems to) tip over when on lap. Otherwise, thumbs-up (McCain style) for this computer...better than the competition by far!

Lenovo IdeaPad S10-1211UW Netbook - White
I wanted a light, low cost mini notebook that would allow me to journal, do computations, and access limited internet.. in essence, a machine suited for jotting notes and to travel with on short business trips. As I intend to make short video messages for my children, the larger 160G HD was also appealing. And, I needed Windows to communicate (virtual tunnel) with my company's systems & MS Office formatted files. I also wanted a 10" machine as smaller ones (8.9") are harder to read (especially for those of us in the latter half of a career). I bought the Lenovo (3 days ago) on the basis of the company's reputation and some e-zine reviews. I selected it from the internet and did not view it in advance, contrary to my usual rule of 'don't buy unless the object has been seen in real time". I paid $463 for the 10", 1m memory, 160HD, XP system Ideapad, including 2 day shipment.

The keyboard is nice. I can type with relatively few errors. (My hands are not big). With only 1M memory, the XP system

Lenovo IdeaPad S10-1211UW Netbook - White
I'm comparing this with my wife's Asus 901. The Lenovo build quality (and style/design) are really quite good, and it feels more solid than the Asus. Bigger keyboard, slightly better trackpad, bigger screen. I immediately installed Ubuntu Linux and its quite speedy, and suspend/hibernate are flawless. The biggest problem is the battery life: I haven't done a quantitative comparison, but the Asus battery lasts much longer - I plan to order a 6-cell battery if/when they're available. I've tweaked power performance with PowerTop, but its still not what I would want for a long trip. Its a shame to have to plug something so portable into the wall!

FWIW, I actually ordered the 512MB memory and 80GB hard drive, and they're plenty, at least for Linux. I can't imagine what I would want a 160GB hard drive on something like this, unless you were storing your DVD collection for travel (see battery life issue, above).

Acer Aspire One A150-1126 Notebook-Aspire One Netbook/seashel wht
I have owned this machine for at least two months and I wouldn't give it up! I own a desk top and a larger HP notebook but I teach and this is the one I keep all of my lessons and my smartboard system on. It is so easy to take back and forth to school every day. Every one at work is in awe over the power it has for its size. I bought two more for gifts for Christmas.

Samsung NC10-14GW 10.2" Netbook - White
I am hooked on this netbooks. I have done some research on this matter comparing between Asus, Acer, Lenovo, Dell, HP, and the Samsung. I have read many reviews by others.

First of all, lighter the better. Therefore, it must be less than 3 lbs. Otherwise, it is just a small notebook and not a true "netbook".

Second. The longer the battery life the better, since this allows you to not to have to carry your power cord. Therefore, I would suggest the 6 cell battery netbooks.

Third. Screen size. 10 inch is better than 9 inch by two fold. As many of you have reviewed. 9 inch many be little too small for most adults unless you are less than 120 lbs.

Fourth. Quality matters. Samsung > Lenovo > HP > Dell > Acer > Asus, in that order in my humble opinion.

Fifth. Price matters. Asus < Acer < Lenovo < Samsung < HP < Dell, If you add the similar features.

I don't know about you, but I want a quality product at a reasonable price, therefore, I am going with the Samsung NC10-14GW

ASUS EPC1000HA-WHI001X Eee PC 1000HA 10" Netbook - Pearl White
Overall, I love my new netbook. The 10" screen size is perfect, not too small. I can easily slip it into my purse, and 3.3lbs is light enough, the shiny black exterior is beautiful but can show smudges easily. Booting up is surprisingly fast as is general processing; I am not super tech-savvy, and used it right out of the box, without manipulating anything to increase performance. The keyboard feels almost full size to me, but I have smaller hands, so typing is no problem.
Some minor anoyances do exist, however: The right "shift" button is farther right on the keyboard than usual. In its usual place is the "up arrow" so there has been some mishaps when I type fast. The other issue is the netbook doesn't connect up to the internet through my Linksys wireless router without my rebooting the router. This doesn't happen everytime, but happens when the router is rebooted when the netbook is not on (as when the power goes off) .
I would highly recommend this netbook for its price-for-performance,
