Smart Buy 6515b Mobile AMD Sempron 3600+ 2GHz Notebook
Didn't need anything too fancy, just something to get online when away from home, and to look at plans. For the price *cheap*, it is a great laptop, and does more than I will ever need it to. One just like it went on sale almost as cheap at wally world, but with limited suppies, who wants to fight the crowds?? Plus you can never go wrong with O shipping!

TOSHIBA Satellite Pro L300-EZ1004X NoteBook Intel Core 2 Duo T5870(2.00GHz) 15.4" Wide XGA 1GB Memory DDR2 667 160GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi Intel GMA X3100
The Toshiba is a very solid fast laptop. I needed it for various business travel. Previously, I had a HP dv 2000 which was a total waste of money and broke down after one year. So- I certaintly did a fair amount of research when it came to purchasing a new laptop. The screen is amazing and so is the sound quality.
The seller Beach Camera listed the price as $732.00 one day and $698.00 the following day. Beach Camera or Amazon would not give back the difference.
Also-it states it is 15.4 screen. It is a 17 inch screen. It is very difficult to find a laptop travel case that fits this large thick computer.

HP Pavilion TX2000Z 12.1" Lightweight tablet Notebook PC (AMD Turion 64 Dual Core Processor TL-68 at 2.4GHz, 3 GB RAM, 250 GB Hard Drive, Wireless, Webcam, Touch Screen, Vista Premium)
I'm a graphic/3d artist, so I run some pretty heafty software on my little Hp tablet. Everything (Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Illustrator, Maya, Zbrush, and Blender)runs almost as fast as it does on my desktop.

The only program that seems to suffer, is Maya. Keep in mind, that it is a freakin' enormus program, that sometimes even has trouble running on my 4 gig, dual Intel processors (6400 @ 2.13 GHz), desktop.

The TX 1000Z uses AMD, instead of Intel processors. Don't let that scare you. It reduces the cost of the system, immensly, and doesn't seem to have any effect on performance.

The touch screen is plenty responsive, but as with any other tablet pc, double clicking (even after adjusting the settings) is a bit touchy.
My only real complaint is with the sound quality. It's not bad, but for a product that is advertised as a media center, it's not as good as it should be.

Quickie observations:
1. battery life is about four hours, which is what I expected
2. the buttons, on the side (fast

Apple Mac mini, 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, SuperDrive - MB139LL/A
I have been a Mac user on and off over the years. Like Mac better, but overpriced. I decided to try the Mac Mini with my 40 inch LCD and Voila! I now have a Mac with a 40 inch screen with WiFi and linking to ITunes and Internet with Safari and Leopard. Easy as pie. My daughter uses this in the living room and it adds another computer to the household for little money. Not a powerhouse, but if you want to use for surfing and other non-heavy duty purposes, this is the way to get back to Mac. Wireless keyboard and mouse allow us to sit on couch and use with ease and comfort. Very glad I purchased! I am writing this on my Compaq notebook and have an old E Machine too. Like the Mac Mini the best. If Apple ever lowers their notebook prices to more competitive prices, I will buy then. Hope this helps.

Lenovo ThinkPad T61 - Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz Notebook
I reviewed the Lenovo 3000 N200 Lenovo 3000 N200 0769 - Celeron M 540 / 1.86 GHz - RAM 512 MB - HDD 80 GB - CD-RW / DVD - GMA X3100 - WLAN : 802.11b/g - TPM - fingerprint reader - Vista Home Basic - 15.4" Widescreen TFT 1280 x 800 ( WXGA ) - Microsoft Office Ready when I bought it earlier this year after my HP died. I had always been a big fan of the IBM Thinkpads and hoped that the 3000 N200 would be an economical replacement. Proving that you get what you pay for, I was very disappointed. I have subsequently wiped the N200 clean of Vista, installed Windows XP and gave it to my son. It works MUCH better under XP -- much faster.

I had always wanted to get the T61 because... well, I like thinkpads. I like the feel of the keyboard. Their displays are crisp and beautiful and the build is solid and durable. But at the time, my budget just wouldn't allow it. But after a few months, I was finally in a position to upgrade.

I was a little hesitant since all my experience with Thinkpads

DELL Inspiron 1720 17" Widescreen Notebook, 2.0GHz INTEL CORE 2 DUO, WiFi, 2GB RAM, 320GB, CDRW/DVDRW+DL, Webcam, Bluetooth, Windows Vista Home Premium
I purchased a Dell Inspiron 1720, refurbished, and it has been nothing but trouble since the box was opened. During the "Computer Set-Up" Vista crashed & rebooted the machine. It kept randomly rebooting, without any rhyme or reason: While I was looking at the installed programs; When I tried some of the pre-packaged games (solitaire); When I was online using Windows Explorer; When I was using my Firefox browser. It would restart with multiple programs or a single program running.

The obvious fix was to upgrade to Windows XP. Except that this machine is engineered so that it is not backwards compatible with any OS prior to Vista.

It was even replaced with another refurbished machine which crashed just as frequently and inexplicably.

Then they replaced some of the hardware (CPU & Hard drive) and returned it without reinstalling the operating system or any software. After I did that the computer continued to randomly reboot. Now they want to return to the beginning and make me do their

Dell Inspiron 1525 Pink Laptop (15.4" Wide Screen with true life, Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 at 1.66GHz, 2GB RAM, 120GB Hard Drive, 8X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability, Windows Vista Premium)
Please do not buy this computer. I had this computer for two months and the screen is cracked internally. Dell said that I caused the damage and I would have to pay $400 to fix it. I work in social services and I don't have that kind of money. $400 is my rent for the month. I am now using my old Toshiba laptop that I have had for almost 6 years without any issues. I never taken it off my desk it has never dropped. This model in particular has the problem of internally cracked screens, just do some online searches and you will see this problem come up constantly. Stay away from this product.

Dell Inspiron 1525 Pink Laptop (15.4" Wide Screen with true life, Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 at 1.66GHz, 2GB RAM, 120GB Hard Drive, 8X DVD +/- RW w/dbl layer write capability, Windows Vista Premium)
I can't begin to describe how cool this laptop is. It is all you need for personal or business work. I have an Acer Desktop with 1 GB of RAM and 100 GB Memory. This little guy has 4 GB of RAM and an Intel Duo Core Processor (that's basically at least twice as fast as my desktop) and 250 GB on the hard drive! Those items are critical for good, fast performance. The keyboard is perfectly typical in its layout and the mouse pad is actually sleek and slightly indented, allowing you to seamlessly run your finger over the metal. The two button pads allow for more functions. It is completely intuitive and although I prefer Windows XP Home over Vista Home (XP is faster), you can't get around that nowadays. It comes preloaded with everything you need and I actually uninstalled some unnecessary programs. I took out the Norton Virus software and put in Windows Live One Care (my preference on quality and ease of use).

There are lots of standards that used to be extras, like the Web Cam,

Apple MacBook MB061LL/A 13.3" Notebook PC (2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB Hard Drive, Combo Drive) White
I like the fact that I can run XP Pro on it and MAC OSX. It's thin and small, has a built in camera, light weight, and doesn't run too hot. Its also easy to upgrade. I've put 3gigs of RAM in, and 250 gig H/D (Fujitsu SATA 2.5" H/D). This is an awesome machine and I use it a lot to do imovies. Cold Eyes

DX2300 MT C2D/2.00 E4400-1GB 160GB DVDR WXPP SBY
The HP dx2300 is a well built well thought out computer. It is of solid steel construction with very little plastic on it. I added 2 more GB of RAM and it handles Photoshop work with ease and is very fast. I also added a dual monitor video card and that is working perfectly.

This computer seems to have everything you need or can be expanded to your needs, and it has nothing you don't need. I would buy it again in a minute. Indeed, I own the dx2000 and dx2200 in addition to the dx2300 and am very happy with all three.

Lenovo ThinkCentre A61e Desktop - AMD Sempron LE-1150 2GHz - 1GB DDR2 SDRAM - 80GB - Combo Drive (CD-RW/DVD-ROM) - Gigabit Ethernet - Windows XP Professional - Ultra Small
I bought this machine because I wanted something quieter and more energy-efficient than my 2004 IBM ThinkCentre. The old one had a fan that was never less than loud and howled like a hurricane whenever anything stressed the processor. This one is quiet no matter what I do with it. It also uses about a third as much power, so I'm looking forward to savings on my power bill. The graphics card is not as good as the one in my old PC -- I can see the difference in shots from my digital camera. And the soundcard is awful. But if you want a quiet energy efficient PC, this is probably your best choice right now until Lenovo expands the line or other manufacturers hop on the bandwagon.

APPLE iMac 2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 20" Desktop (Leopard)
We own more than 8 imacs at our ad agency. We just received the newest 20" aluminum model and the display is so bad its almost unusable. All our other imacs are woonderful. This new machine is fast and reliable, but the viewing angle and color fidelity is so bad, you cant even move your head without the colors shifting. This is really a bummer... I heard there's a class action lawsuit brewing over this problem.

HP Pavilion Athlon 2 GHz Desktop Computer (Refurbished)-HP Pavilion Slimline s7700n 1GB 250GB DVDRW WiFi
This computer was alot better than I expected for the price.
It came with Windows ready to go.
I had no problems hooking up the monitor purchased separately.
Audio and internet peripheral worked okay.

Lenovo ThinkPad T61 Education - Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz Notebook
I bought a top-of-the-line version of this for my son for med but it turned out to be completely unreliable. And 9 of the 10 others in his class who had Lenovo's had the exact same experience. Only 1 was satisfied. What's worse, when we had a disagreement with Lenovo over whether we should pay for a repair that did not fix the problem, the head of Lenovo's customer service department told me -- and this is an exact quote -- "I don't care what's good for the customer, I care what's good for Lenovo. BEWARE!

HP Pavilion TX2000Z 12.1" Lightweight tablet Notebook PC (AMD Turion 64 Dual Core Processor TL-68 at 2.4GHz, 3 GB RAM, 250 GB Hard Drive, Wireless, Webcam, Touch Screen, Vista Premium)
I bought it directly from HP and received 30% discount to find out a week later that HP stopped producing tx1000 (hence the large discount). What they do not tell you is that this model does not have Wacom digitizer and active display. This model has a passive display, and what that means is that you would be able to write on the screen as successfully as you try to write something in you Blackberry.
When you try to write on the screen you have to apply so much pressure and the hand has to be at a certain angle. Even that did not always help me as a result I got a bunch of dots or some weird looking lines that did not resemble any letters. The pen primarily serves a function of the mouse. And also forget about trying to draw anything, it will not work the same as the writing.
The computer is loaded with HPs bloatware (as usual) and Vista is slower than XP. The comp is unable to play any games (tried Command and Conquer) due to its weak videocard. In addition the screen is very grainy though

There was a mistake about the procesor and the ram memory. Also the hard disk. instead of having 4 gb of ram it came with 3. the processor is the TL-60 instead the tl-58. and the HDD is about 148 instead of 160. The most important thing is the ram memory because it would affect the price of the computer. please be more careful and i think that i should get a discount or something like a gift certificate so i can use that money to buy another tinhgs. unfortunately the computer is already in venezuela and that is why i dont consider to send it back to get the proper product. Anyhow the shiping was good.
