I'm a soldier and I travel all the time, that being said I like a laptop that can play the latest games and perform well for a good price. This is my second
ASUS laptop and I am convinced that this company is waaaay better than DELL and their overpriced craptops. This is the cheapest laptop with a geforce 260m I can find and this card will play the latest games right now at maximum laptop resolution on high (Modern Warfare 2, Dragon Age Origins). It doesn't overheat like most gaming laptops and it is over-clockable to 15% extra performance (haven't overclocked while playing the new games yet though). Battery life last for about 2 hours (set on battery saving and mainly surfing the net with wireless on). I don't know anyone who uses a gaming laptop unplugged on performance settings (unless they are just ignorant). Someone mentioned the plug being a brick, they obviously haven't seen dell xps power brick or some of the alienware ones. The problems? This thing is a fingerprint magnet (grrrr).

My Satellite A500 fits perfectly on this case, it looks great and it protects my laptop very well. It's a bit expensive but i think it's worth it. I definitely recommend it!

This is by far the best machine I've owned. Between the machine itself and Windows 7, I've been in computer-geek dreamland. I have turned up the graphics to its maximum setting on Eve Online and Dragon Age: Origins. It looks amazing and I've never noticed a performance decrease. According to a performance test, the hard drive is defining the limit of performance. That doesn't mean the hard drive is slow. It just means that everything else is just plain fast.

Due to its size, It is definitely not easily portable. That's not the designer's fault, either. It's supposed to be a desktop replacement.

There is a reduced power mode which may help with battery life. It's not a problem for me, though, because my primary use of the computer is in my house near a wall socket.

I'm still experiencing some sticker shock over the purchase, but the caliber of machine I got for my money gives me a lot of faith in ASUS. They did a great job with this one.

This is my first laptop and I am glad to say I LOVE IT! I went monitor shopping so I could put my desktop in my room (using my tv as a monitor, so it's stuck in the living room) and I saw this baby.

I've been wanting a laptop for awhile and to be comparable to my desktop. I wanted a GTX 260M or better and this laptop caught my eye. I would've liked the display to be full HD at 1920x1080 but its not that much smaller. As with any laptop the viewing angles are limited.

Windows 7 is amazing, way better than Vista, AND its 64-bit. The 6GB of ram definitely help when gaming. Has the biggest available notebook hard drive at the moment, but I wouldn't have minded it being 7200 rpm. Has a built in overclocking program that goes up to 15%.

It is surprisingly cool! I had it overclocked and played games and it wasn't hot on my lap. It plays ALL the Source engine games at full settings (Half-Life 2, Left4Dead, Counter-Strike: Source, etc...) and I'm playing Modern Warfare

This system is extremely powerful and chews up games without an issue. Plus, the ASUS OS that one can boot to for browsing without launching the Windows7 OS is a cool concept - haven't had to use it yet. The video display is wonderful, as are the onboard speakers. The ASUS has built a powerful gaming system.

However, it does have some problems:

1) Keyboard keys tough to find. There's poor tactile feedback - would have been nice to have a grittier surface on each (maybe I'll add some glue to each)
2) Because of the huge video processor and motherboard CPU, the battery life lasts (at full charge) only 1.5 hours. Terrible! This laptop can hardly be called portable since you can't really take it on the road without a really long extension cord. It is a desktop with a different form factor.
3) The AC/DC converter is a brick: very heavy and quite large. Again, limits portability.

Very solid machine and the unibody design is great. Feels solid and balanced. The display is out of the world. The Mac OS goes to sleep and wakes faster than windows could ever get out of BIOS bootup. I have been a windows user for 16 years and it was Vista that turned me away. This is what an Operating System should be. I can see why Microsoft has been chasing Mac for so long. Bootcamp works great for those times I do need to boot into windows. It handles Virtual machines with ease also. Very quiet machine and has none of the fan noise that my HPs had when under a load. Solid buy and worth the few dollars extra.

Only down side is that unless someone like Dynex makes an accessory, you are stuck with paying a premium for Apple branded products. Also would be nice if this had a 2nd Hard drive. Actually a dual platter and SSD configuration would be nice.

Sony MRW620/U1/181 Internal 17 in 1 Memeory Card Reader/Writer
+ 0 likes
I am a system builder thats had been looking for an internal memory card reader. At the local Fry's, there were plenty to choose from but all were from companies I had never heard of. Most said 3.5 Drive Bay but were off in their measurements by a few centimeters. I bought this internal card reader and found that it suit my needs. To top it off, this reader/writer was licensed by Sony- a company that had a physical address that made and licensed other electronic components. This card word in Windows Xp. It still worked nicely in Windows Vista. In Xp and Vista, in the "My Computer Window" all the seperate flash drives were listed. I wished that Windows would assign the appropriate flash card icon to each drive and not that standard gray drive icon. This would allow me to tell each drive apart. In Windows7, which this card also works flawlessly, in the "Computer" window, none of the flash drives are listed until you insert a card. This makes it easier to tell which drive is what. If a

I am a big computer/laptop researcher and tend to research for a couple months before making my final purchasing decision. I came to the conclusion that the ASUS G71gx was the best deal out there but when they suddenly disappeared off the shelves and were replaced by the ASUS G72gx I knew I made the right choice in waiting to purchase this updated model. This computer is absolutely stunning. Despite having top of the line hardware, there are no overheating issues with this laptop whatsoever. The chasis size was increased from the G71gx model and I believe this fixed the overheating issues that were prevalent in the old model. Windows 7 is fantastic. Fast and efficient like Win XP, beautiful and elegant like VISTA, and now very user interactive but less intrusive much like OSX. For gamers, this computer is the deal of the century. This model (thankfully) uses a P8700 2.53GHz dual-core over the newer Core i7s or Quad Cores which come at lower clock speeds. The P8700 will beat a lower-clocked

At first, I was hesitant to spend $2500 on a notebook, but with a suggestion from the local BestBuy Associate, and after reading reviews on the internet, decided to do so. I didn't like the Mac OSX 10.6, so I was brave and decided to load Windows 7 on it. It took a little time and patience, but once loaded, it ran like a banshee! Everything works well, it is VERY QUICK, the graphics are great, the lighted keyboard is neat, and it holds a great charge on the battery. I love the LED display, the hard drive is quick, and the WiFi is ridiculously quick. I am glad I spent the money because this unit is one of the best I have ever tested.

I put it next to my brothers new Alienware (it has higher specs), and my MacBook Pro 17 beat it every time. He was shocked, especially after he spent about $3500 on his notebook.

I HIGHLY SUGGEST this notebook to anyone who appreciates brilliant design, execution, and quality. I am glad I did it.

Built E-LS15-MDT 14-Inch - 15-Inch Laptop Sleeve (Micro Dot)
So I bought this for my new Sony Vaio, it is a 14 inch notebook. I bought the 13-15 inch version of this notebook sleeve and I love it!!! It fits perfect. Honestly, if my computer was 15 inches, I don't think it would fit. The case is curvy and so the curvyness kind of creates a lack of space, if you know what I mean. There would be more room if it was straight, bu tI like the curves and mine fits great. It is also pretty thick foam, so I think it will protect well. Plus, the dots are really cute!!! I'm so excited to take it to class tomorrow!

Swiss Gear (Wenger) SwissGear Pegasus Backpack - Fits Laptops with Screen Sizes Up to 17? (GA-7306-06F00)

Outstanding tool for carrying a laptop. I purchased this backpack to carry my HP Pavilion; it has a huge monitor and a keypad with a number key, which I appreciate for calculations. The SwissGear backpack easily accommodates the long laptop. It's the only one I could find that could fit my Pavilion. This backpack is ideal for the long-distance commuter or road-warrior, ergonomically-designed to contain everything -- not only for your laptop but for travel needs. The padding is surprisingly sturdy and works well. Here's my summary of the positives: 1. Two large compartments that easily contained laptop, charger, cables, mouse-case (I keep my external mouse in a hard case that was originally for CDs.), international converters, and project binders. 2. One small top compartment I selected for keys, IDs, etc. 3. One larger, long compartment for pens, cell phone charger, bluetooth charger, thumb drives, etc. 4. Two side compartments ideal for eyeglasses, pharmaceuticals and other stuff. 5.

SwissGear Wired Laptop Backpack for 17-Inch Notebook (Red)

This is a very well made bag, nice construction, lots of pockets. The pocket for the media player is on the inside of the bag and there's a connector there as well with the wire running down through the bag strap to a connector outside of the bag for you to use with your headphones with. The bad thing about this bag is that it barely fits my xps m1710 and my HP Pavilion DV7-3080US cant fit at all, which is a big disappointment.

I bought this baby 4 days ago and it is a beast. It has handled every game i have thrown at it on the highest settings (including Crysis) and it hasnt so much as hiccuped. It is big and heavy and the battery is only good for about an hour and a half but thats all to be expected on a gaming laptop with the hardware this thing has. The wifi is super sensitive too i am seeing networks blocks away. One network on the list was named " **** drive house" and that street is well over a quarter mile away. I knew i couldn't go wrong buying a name like Asus, and they have well exceeded my expectations. Buy this laptop!! You won't regret it i promise.

I just bought this last weekend. Ive had it for about a week now and I love it! I keep hearing how the game Crysis can be a system hog.. so I put this system to the test.. I went out and bought it .. played it maxed out without any slowdown and yes WOW plays flawlessl and looks great...I did just buy Dragon Age but something in Windows 7 64bit is conflicting with this game. It wont let me install it. Just locks up. (looking into it)
There is even a preloaded program you can use to overclock it just by a click of a button. Ive never been this happy with a computer before.. I always was a big desk top fan.. but now desktops are history for me.. I would recommend this system to everyone who wants a fast reliable laptop for a great price.
Stop reading this.. go out and pick it up.. Bring it home and make your family and friends wish they had one..

DIRECTV Sat-Go Portable Satellite TV Receiver with 17" LCD Screen
+ 0 likes
After waiting over a month on back order I finally received it.
I couldn't get so much as a blip of programing. I even put the satellite next to my house dish and it wouldn't work. So in the box it went and back to the store. I will wait for the technology become more advanced. I also talked to a man who said he bought one and it wouldn't work at his campsite because of a tree branch.
I did find it was bigger and heavier then I had realized. I would not want to have a far walk from the parking lot to my hotel room lugging this around.
