I traded a HP THAT I BOUGHT AND OWNED LESS THAN 24 HOURS BECAUSE IT GAVE ME A BLUE SCREEN AND SHUT DOWN 3 TIMES , FOR THE BEST LAPTOP I HAVE EVER OWNED HANDS DOWN.

I am please about the new type of LED screen, but I was disappointed when I realized it didn't have a fire wire connection. Sad to think that a older model macbook has more to offer than my new updated macbook. I am still pleased about having a Intel CPU, instead of a G5. Now I can run Windows or Mac OS, but not a fan of Windows, but good to have the option.

It was between this and a macbook pro. The entry level macbook pro had the exact same specs but a smaller hard drive. But the pro does have the SD slot and firewire capabilities. For 200 extra dollars, I just didn't think those features were worth it since I have never used firewire in my life and the SD slot is only a minor inconvenience.
I switched from PC to MAC, this is my first mac ever. I love it. There's just so many small things that it does so well. You have to try it out yourself. And although the specs aren't as good as some PC's in the price range, you wont be able to tell because this operating system is so fast. No hang ups or anything so far. So many cool features and the trackpad is amazing. Also, battery life is 10 times (literally) better than my old Dell. I recommend this for sure.

BATTERY LASTS FOREVER (IT SEEMS) THE GRAPHICS ARE AWESOME!! I OWNED A PC BEFORE PURCHASING A MAC AND IF I KNEW A MAC RAN LIKE THIS I WOULD OF NEVER KNOWN WHAT A PC IS :) IT IS TRUELY AMAZING AND I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS MAC OR ANY MAC TO ANYONE!! Bestbuy has the best price model for your money. Went to sony style and model is comparably 300dollars more in price. Cost is still high for a pc but again try to find an utlraportable with its features and you wont so get it if you can. last time i checked it was sold out glad i ordered it when I did.

My Satellite A500 fits perfectly on this case, it looks great and it protects my laptop very well. It's a bit expensive but i think it's worth it. I definitely recommend it!

I purchased this Macbook Pro 2.53 with 4GB DDR3 ram. A month later I noticed the processing speed slowed significantly and the cooling fan became lower. I took it in an Apple store nearby and I was told that the the fan works and there is nothing they can do about the noise. I asked them if they could replace it with another one considering it was only a month old, but I was told that replacement is never an option unless the computer is broken. I am very disappointed considering how much I paid for this computer.

The MacBook Pro 13" series is my first Mac computer and I LOVE it. I thought I would be lost in it, but on the contrary, I use it everyday and love it so far. I love the fact that it's so simple and I believe that it's definitely worth it to spend the money on it, that is if you have the money. Just like a PC you have to buy and install iWork, which is like MS Programs (Excel, Access, PowerPoint), but what's even better is that I can run Windows on my Mac!!! Windows 7 is out and already there are reports of problems with it, come on where has the quality gone?? Anyways, if you have the money, trust me go with a Mac you won't be disappointed. If you're a first time Mac user, allow time to get used to it and don't jump to conclusions right away. I have started using my Mac approximately a month ago and I have been fairly busy, so I haven't had the chance to play around with it, but I can't wait because I know it has soo much to offer. I think the best way to justify getting a higher end notebook like a MacBook Pro is to think about how long you sit in front of the computer each day. Most of us rely on our notebooks a lot more than a few years ago, and so if you get this kind of mileage out of a computer, doesn't it make sense to spend a couple hundred dollars more on it? We throw away money every day on useless junk, but a computer is such a necessity, doesn't it make sense to get a high quality one? Speaking of high quality, a MacBook isn't just all hype and marketing. It's mostly in the engineering, and it definitely is well thought-out and flawless. The aluminum unibody is amazing and sturdy, and you feel the quality on every edge and laser-etched surface. The precision is astounding. The keyboard is tough and elegant, and the little features and attention to detail are marvelous. The screen is a huge selling point for this notebook. It is absolutely stunning and vibrant. I've had a lot of Macs before, both desktops and laptops, and this is one of the best I've owned. The display is crisp with vibrant colors. Some don't like the glare, but I find the brightness outweighs any issue with reflections. The addition of a lighted keyboard is helpful, and the scrollpad is marvelous, very iPhone-like. I also like the addition of a SD car slot, although it does stick out a bit. One less thing to carry around, and you can create a bootable card, which is kind of cool. Since lots of folks have extolled the virtues of the machine, let me explain where Apple stumbled. This computer comes with a user-serviceable hard drive and memory. Check Apple's site; they have instructions for how to replace a hard drive or add memory. But before you slam in a hard drive, beware. Most of the new MBPs come with a firmware update, EFI 1.7, installed. On some MBPs this has caused problems when copying large files. With no doubt this is the Perfect Portable Computer for anybody. Perfect size and weight, Fast, Bright display. It is a good investment I will upgrade the memory and that's it. powerful enough to run vmware as 2 computers in one side by side.

I got my macbook pro 13" Before school started, im going for graphics/web design so getting a mac was a no brainer.
What I like is the amazing battery life, the bright,crisp color display, and it runs adobe creative suite with no problems, so the performance is great.
What i don't like is the screen resolution, 1280 by 800, way to small for what i do, another is the harddrive, 160GB, way to small for the $1,200 apple is asking and maybe the price could be a little cheaper.

I have the highest hardware configuration you could buy in February 09.Substitute a solid state drive for the conventional one. First problem was the browser would shut down for no reason and then messenger later. This progressed until it would only stay open for one or two minutes. Certain DVD's won't play in the drive. Running two applications like messenger and the browser at the same time results in crashing requiring forced restart. Computer is slow despite using little space. For more than twice the price of a similar windows machine this thing is a disaster. Completely unreliable.

This laptop should be a great choice for anyone young and old alike. Easy to use and stunning display made it a easy choice for me. They talk this laptop up and they definitely should. It is everything they say it is. I am actually using it now. I was skeptical about the seven hour battery but it is true. The only con is there no SD card slot, but hey i'm not paying an extra $300 for the pro, just for it. I can always get a usb SD slot for cheap. But yeah definitely a great laptop. I've used Windows up until this laptop and I will never go back. Mac is an all around great operating system with everything you need and could want. And best of all Mac can't get viruses, we all no Windows can...

I was a PC person my whole life and then made the move over to Apple. Seriously, Once you go Mac you never go back. Its such a breath of fresh air. I cant even begin to tell you everything I love about this computer. #1 reason to buy it is no virus's! you can never get tired of that. :)

I was torn between this product and the Acer Aspire Timeline. I ultimately decided to go with this product because of the battery life claim. Obviously the battery life claim on ANY laptop is quoted using settings that will not be reflective of the typical user. One of my biggest concerns with this laptop was the processor. I was not sure if it would be able to handle my daily computing activities. This machine is by no means a powerhouse, but it is more than capable. As long as you do not need to do anything such as gaming or multimedia editing, you should be fine with this laptop. This machine is capable of playing HD videos with a little extra left over for background tasks. Notes: - While you do receive recovery DVDs, if you need to take advantage of them you will need to get an external DVD drive. I have heard some reports that some external DVD drives do not receive enough power through one USB port and require either a powered USB hub or plugging the drive into two USB ports.

I've been working with computers for over 30 years. This is the first computer of any sort that met and I will expect exceed all of my expetations (over time). It is the perfect computer for doing MS Office type work, emailing documents back and forth, and internet use. It's nice and fast, great display, no issues with the key board, and set up was not that difficult. I have a very capabile desktop and did not need to duplicate what I already had. This is the PERFECT machine for getting work done and keeping in touch with email. Now if it keeps working for a few years, ASUS would have hit a huge home-run.

I was disappointed to find that instead of the 8 cell 12 hr+ battery, the UL30A X-5 was delivered with a 6 cell 10 hour battery. There is a lot of choice out there between notebooks sold at this price and it was the 12 hour that persuaded me to go for this model. Very disappointing. Also the computer shown on the Amazon webpage has a sim card slot. The one delivered did not. Amazon offered a small refund, but I would rather have the computer as ordered. Check it as soon as you open it up!

I've owned several computers: Dells, an HP, a Gateway, another Sony. After suffering with a recent Dell XPS 1340 purchase, I purchased this Sony and have been in heaven every since. First, it just works without any hassles whatsoever. It's amazing light, super fast, has a fantastic keyboard, solid battery life, and great support options (e.g., at home support, Sony Store-based support). I plan to purchase this computer for all of my employees.
