Sony VAIO VGN-Z880G/B 13.1-Inch (Black)
I purchased this machine on 12/8/2009. The next day the cursor just froze in place, and only a forced power down got the machine to shut off. This problem persisted and Sony replaced the unit one month later. Now the same thing is happening to the replacement unit. This time it seems to coincide with plugging the unit back in after working on battery power for a while. This problem is widely documented on "forum dot notebook review dot com" by other unhappy owners. Sony's outsourced offshore support is terrible. Sony should take this problem seriously and stop selling these units until they have a fix. Sony Style store gave me a full refund on 2/19/2010. Too bad they cannot support their products.

I liked this computer....initially. It does look very sleak but has some huge negatives - lots of known problems with motherboard and LED screen (just google it). I had my motherboard replaced x2 - once when I first got it because the battery wouldn't hold a charge and again for the screen. Dell came out and did it but still a pain. - the fan runs ALL THE TIME. With normal usage - internet only the fan seems to run all the time - it's very loud and disturbing - my screen completely broke on its own after 13 months. So beware - starts out okay but you'd better get the long warranty and beware of the fan problems

Lenovo Ideapad U-350 13.3-Inch Black Laptop - Up to 5 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Home Premium)

Very pleased with this inexpensive laptop. Compared to other reviews, I was not annoyed by advertising pop-ups. Either I figured out how to turn them off or they are no longer as obnoxious. The touchpad has been a challenge - the sensitivity is different compared to my 6 year old ThinkPad. I have to remember to use the center of the pad to "click" thru. I don't miss Bluetooth - I opted not to get a model that included it. The hard drive size and RAM are great conveniences for the price. I also don't miss the internal DVD drive - I bought an inexpensive peripheral. The light weight of the unit makes it easy to carry around all the time. The battery life is good and the selection of ports is very good.

I bought from Sony for $2000 + tax. I had trouble getting started and talked at length to someone in India who knew less than I did about the unit- it took 3 weeks and a return to the repair center to fix a problem which could have been taken care of on the telephone by someone who knew what was what - I never could reach such a person. The user manual is a joke, it has little information. The web site with "additional " info is even worse. If I had not known about the GPS function I would never even have suspected it because the user manual does not even mention it!! Overall Sony support was pathetic. The computer is OK, but if you don't know how to use it you are pretty much on your own.

I think this is a good laptop, but decided to return it. I researched lots of laptops in the moderately-priced 13.3-inch screen thin and light category. Ultimately, I was choosing between the Asus UL30A-X5 and the Lenovo. The Lenovo won out by a hair. I already own the 12-inch Asus UL 20A-A1, which I bought for the road and as an upgrade from a 10-inch netbook. I really like the 20A and recommend it. With that solid track record, why did I initially go with the Lenovo? The biggest reason I went with the Lenovo is that I thought I would like the keyboard a bit more than the Asus. The Asus has a decent keyboard, but I thought the Lenovo, with the IBM lineage, would be superior. The Lenovo keyboard has a slightly more solid feel, but I can't say that everyone would prefer it to the Asus. It's probably just a matter of personal preference. The specifications of the units otherwise were similar. You'll see that a lot of online reviews downgrade the Lenovo for performance, but that

I purchased this laptop in late October 2009, shortly after Sony released it with Win 7 Pro, attracted by a number of feature advantages over a comparable, but older, Dell. I travel a lot and wanted a lightweight, full power laptop that could also easily dock and serve as my desktop PC. This laptop does that. I particularly like the switchable graphics card that allows me to drive my 23" LCD desktop monitor at full resolution connected to the dock via DVI. The laptop's own screen is excellent, sharp and a pleasure to use. I also use the laptops HDMI out to connect to a projector, via an HDMI->DVI adapter I bought separately for $5 on Amazon, and have had success connecting the laptop to hotel flat screens with HDMI and DVI inputs. I also use the built in Verizon 3-G and it has been rock solid. I feared built-in 3-G might not have the reach of my Verizon USB 3-G device, but it works great and its nice to not have to mess with the USB device or worry about it dangling out the side

Lenovo Ideapad U-350 13.3-Inch Black Laptop - Up to 5 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Home Premium)

After initially purchasing the Acer Aspire One 8 inch model last year I found that the performance was good for basic web browsing but that was it. Performance, size of screen and small keyboard made me part with the unit after a few months. From then I have been looking for the ideal ultra portable unit thats a balance between a netbook and a notebook. After looking at various models from Acer (the 11.6 inch netbooks), HP- Mini 311 and Lenovo S-12 I decided to go with the Lenovo U-350. The main reason I chose not to go with the other three choices was the lack of powerful processor -- they work mainly on the Intel Atom processor. The HP Mini 311 and Lenovo S-12 both can be bought with Nvidia Ion processors for better graphics performance but the lack of CPU options kept me from choosing those units. The U-350 comes with a powerful dual core Intel Centrino 2 processsor and 4 gb of RAM. So far I am really impressed with this unit which runs on Windows 7 Premium Home edition.

Por fin he recibido mi nueva laptop Lenovo U350 296346U.

I am very eager to review this product but cannot do so as I have yet to receive it. I pre-ordered it, as the Amazon website listed Oct 22 as availability date. That date passed and there was no communication from Amazon. After inquiring with them, they gave me a new estimate. Finally the computer shipped on the new estimated date, but it has yet to arrive. Amazon did not have the emotional intelligence to expedite shipping despite the product being delayed. Now I am concerned that the product might not be up to snuff or the Amazon description inaccurate. Check back in 3 days. I will hopefully have my item by then. And don't pre order items from Amazon -- unless it's a book or CD. ============= It is November 4 and I finally have my machine. I have been playing with it for the past three hours. The performance has been better than I expected. I preordered the machine with Windows 7 and a new ULV processor - both that haven't been tested extensively in the market. But as I said,

Dell XPS M1330 13.3-Inch Widescreen Laptop (Tuxedo Black)

I would like to share the terrible experiences that I had to go through with Dell. When I purchased my Dell XPS Notebook couple years ago, I was really excited. They said I'll be getting a $150 coupon for future purchases and it will be shipped in 4 - 6 weeks. But I never received it. When I called Dell customer service, they said there was no such thing and I am not going to receive the coupon. I wrote several emails to there management team with no response. Few weeks ago, my computer stopped working and I called in to Dell customer service to send it for service. They promised me that it will be fixed and shipped back to me within 10 days. The Dell service rep charged me $500 right away and said they'll refund the rest after they determine the cost of repair. It's been 4 weeks since I shipped my Dell XPS Notebook and everytime I call, I hear a different story. One time they said it has been fixed and will be shipped within the next two days. When I called a week later, they said they

I am 90% happy with this laptop. It is very light and very portable. Mine came with Windows XP pre-installed and a set of Vista 'restore' disks. These didn't work (I called Lenovo support and their suggestion was to wipe the hard-drive and start again, which I did but that made no difference) so I had to install my own copy of Vista. It then took 2 days to download all the updates to my copy of Vista and all the X301 drivers. However, now it is up and running, it works very well. You can notice the benefit of low access-time of an SSD, particularly when it comes to tasks such as browsing picture thumbnails. It boots pretty quickly too. I would point out a few things gripes worth knowing though.. - The battery-life is listed in the specs as up-to 5.5 hours. In my experience that is really around 3.5 hours. - The processor is a little under-powered and this can show itself in video playback. - The fingerprint scanner doesn't seem to work half the time (but who cares?). That all sounds

Dell XPS M1330 13.3-Inch Widescreen Laptop (Tuxedo Black)

I paid 2000 dollars when I custom built one of these systems from Dell's online store. At first the system running Vista home premium was great, fast and ran all the programs and games I could ever want. After about 3 months the wireless card began failing, dropping connections and then died altogether. So I purchased a D-link wireless adapter and my wireless was faster then it had ever been with the crappy Dell wireless mini card. At this time I really began to also notice the system starting to degrade in performance big time. I was running 64bit Vista and the 6gb ram wasn't even noticeable as it increased nothing and was a waste of money to add to this system. The XPS was now performing slower than my year old Gateway T series, and the XPS had dual core processor, 6gb ram, Nvidia video card, etc The boot up times got a lot longer too and it seems with the XPS that by just installing programs (even small ones) or games that the system got progressively slower even though it was

While this is an excellent machine on paper it is not worth the money. Dell is knowingly selling these computers with a hardware design flaw that causes them to overheat which can lead to numerous other problems. When it works, it works great, but take it from me and everyone else who's written a review after the first couple months-you will have a lot of problems and a huge headache dealing with Dell's customer service. If I could return this laptop I would in a heartbeat.

Bought a Dell XPS 1330 in September 2007 and in the first nine months the screen died twice, once in Australia and once in the US. Dell responded pretty quickly both times and replaced the motherboard twice at no charge.

The computer has a sleek design but seems unable to cope with the heat generated in warm climates so I bought a laptop cooler and it worked fine for another nine months. Unfortunately I didn't take out the extened warranty and now the same fault has happened again as soon as it starts warming up here in California. I've decided to cut my losses and buy something else as I'm told a new motherboard installed will be $500-700.

Pity it's been so unreliable as it's a really cool laptop...but I've had it with breakdowns. If you do buy make sure you buy the extended warranty as well.

Hi!

Received my X301 2 weeks ago from Electronica Direct and I would like to thank them for the excellent prompt service, This product is 2776-P6U it has all the above mentioned specs + AT&T wireless WWAN HSDPA 7.2 + GPS once you put your hand on the X301 you will notice that built quality is superior to the current T series meanwhile the reason why I'm rating this product 3 stars only is because of the keyboard its just awful!!! It flexes excessively specially the left side just like a cheap notebook! from what I came to know Lenovo implemented a new keyboard design that caused the problem I have contacted Lenovo with the matter and they informed me that they will look into it and I'm still waiting! The main reason I always buy ThinkPad's is the legendary IBM keyboard and now it's gone! I'm very disappointed with my X301 and I don't recommend it!

I have waited 4 months to write this review. My laptop is this exact one but in white. I don't see the white option anymore. I have owned many desktops and notebooks in the last 15 years and this is the best one I have ever owned! I had a Gateway for a year and a half before this one. What a piece of junk. From day one had nothing but trouble. At my residence I have one Sony Desktop and one Gateway Desktop running. I don't even use either after getting this notebook. This power machine does actually more than either of them and they are top of the line desktops. I am a photographer and can do all my editing with ease. The keyboard rocks. I knew it did but in the last 2 days a couple of people have used my notebook to look up something quick and they both commented on how easy it was to use. One of those are actually buying a Sony this week because of that. I carry it with me everyday. I do also recommend the Incase-Notebook Sleeve to put it in before putting it in the case. It secures it

My brother and cousin has Sony laptops, and they like it. I've had Dell previously and the fan got loud and eventually died. So far, this one is great, we will see in time.

This printer is sufficient for the price and pages print quickly. However, its very loud (a little like a jet engine taking off) and it takes 30 seconds or longer for it to register that a print job has been sent to it.

This is a solid laptop with great performance. I too was disappointed with the very dim display when running on battery until I figured out that Dell has set it that way in the system BIOS to persumably extend the battery charge. If you hit the F2 key while the laptop boots up you can enter the Setup and correct this. I moved it from a default setting of 3 to 6 and the display dims only slightly now on battery.
Be careful not to change other settings while in setup unless you know what you're doing. You could cause major problems.
