HP TouchSmart TM2-1070US 12.1-Inch Black Laptop - Up to 4.25 Hours of Battery Life
+ 0 likes
This is the newest line of HP's touchsmart multi-touch tablet pcs. It is a great PC, despite the fact that it is slower than their now retired line. What it lacks in processor power it more than makes up for in quiet, cool working. One of the biggest advantages is that the screen tilts at ANY rotation. Half rotated? Tilt! Fully rotated? Tilt!
My unit does sometimes give me a fan error when I start it up from hibernation mode. I'm sure this will cause a problem in the future and I'll have a big pain in the butt on my hands, but it's not a big deal to me right now because I don't hibernate often (when I did it was by accident.)
The battery life on this is INCREDIBLE. I had mine one notch below brightest (which is how I keep it when it's plugged in, too) and it lasted over 4 hours. The battery gauge is reliable and correct.
One of the main advantages of this computer over their now-retired line is the Wacom pen. If you download certain drivers you can get the pen sensitivity to

ASUS Eee PC Seashell 1201N-PU17-SL 12.1-Inch Silver Netbook - 5 Hours of Battery Life
+ 0 likes
Hello, First off I want to say WOW. This is an awesome little netbook! The size is perfect! It is very thin and extremely light. First thing to note. When you first turn it on it takes a little over an hour to "initialize". So make sure it is plugged into a wall and that you DO NOT turn it off while it is doing this. It may seem like it has hung but just give it some sweet time to finish. There will be options to fill out information as you go so check in on it every once in awhile. The Operating System. Windows 7 Premium is amazing. It runs so much better and overall smoother than any previous Windows OS. After it has finished its initialization boot time is right about One Minute on the included 2 gigs of RAM. The high res screen is very nice. For only being about 12 inches it still manages to give you a good bit of room to play with. The Trackpad. The trackpad is Multitouch and is pretty easy to use. Especially scrolling. You simply use two fingers and glide down or up to scroll.

HP TouchSmart TM2-1070US 12.1-Inch Black Laptop - Up to 4.25 Hours of Battery Life

I had a tx2 1375dx, and it was cute, and I loved the optical drive, but the heat, and the fact that it had an AMD processor really wore me down(not to mention the touch went out in two weeks and the key board had a broken H when I got it).
So I upgraded.
I really love this Tm2! The chicklet keyboard is amazing, the touch response is a LOT better, and I like that pressure sensitivity is added, so I don't really miss the 4 point touch access.
I use this mainly for drawing, and it works amazing! If you get one, get a trial of Photoshop so you can see how awesome it can be.
As for gaming..... It does it's best. It's great with WoW for a computer with out gaming specs. Overall, it's pretty smooth.
I love it, I just hope the next upgrade, will look, feel, and respond this snazzy just with an optical drive included at this price.

Canon PowerShot A1100IS 12.1 MP Digital Camera with 4x Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch LCD (Pink)

I bought this camera before Christmas 2009, and took lots of pictures during the colorful holidays. I was not thrilled with the results - photos seemed dull, flat, and uninteresting. Photos taken with my 6-year-old Sony were much better! Thought about returning the camera, but couldn't be bothered. Wish I had - camera recently fell off a low end table, and the small plastic clasp for the battery/memory card compartment broke off. Now, because compartment doesn't close properly, camera doesn't always work. I have a good excuse to get a different camera - think I'll go back to Sony.

Nikon D300s 12MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G AF-S ED VR II Telephoto Zoom Lens

This was my first DSLR. If you've never owned a DSLR, it does take some experimentation with settings and lighting to see what the camera can do and how the pictures will turn out. But that's the great thing about digital cameras...you can shoot at will and see the immediate effects. Also, learning and familiarizing yourself with the controls really helps when snapping shots of young kids that that tend to move incessantly. - The picture quality is awesome (no surprise here and universally agreed upon by most reviews)...especially when I compare it to pics taken with my ultra portable point and shoot Canon SD630. - The layout and functions are quite intuitive and easy to use so it wasn't hard to get the hang of it (and a good guide book really helps). - The construction seems very solid, you can feel it in your hands. - External flash is very key in getting good results. - I purchased it with the 18mm-200mm VR-II lens. The lens was very expensive but if you could only get one lens,

Pentax Optio W80 Waterproof 12.1MP Digital Camera with 5x Wide Angle Triple Shake Reduction Optical Zoom and 2.5 inch LCD (Cardinal Red)
Understand that this is a sub-$200 camera made for durability. A lot of cameras take better pictures. A lot of cameras are more expensive, more fragile, and bigger. With that understanding, this is a durable, light, small, good camera. It excels outdoors in sunshine, and inside it does well if you take care to set up your shots well. The darker it gets, the more of a gamble on the shot turning out; some still do pretty good. Not mural quality; but definitely blog-worthy. Good enough for a scrapbook usually. I bought the W80 to replace my W20 after 4 years. The W20 died of a hard drop on a tile floor; so the shock resistance mattered to me. I haven't done scientific testing; but the photo quality seems no better and no worse; just more megapixels, compared to my W20. The video is definitely much better. Overall I love this camera. I have no fear of my toddler using it to take pictures or look at pictures I've taken, or just to hold it to sooth a tantrum. Whatever, the camera can survive.

ASUS UL20A-A1 Thin and Light 12.1-Inch Silver Laptop - 7.5 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Home Premium)
I bought this for my wife as her own laptop. She surfs the net, does light (picnik) photo editing, and most importantly watches many of her TV shows (Lost, Survivor, Project Runway, Real housewives..) on a laptop. I chose this over a classic netbook because of the video watching. Admittedly I don't have much experience with netbooks and ultralights. But I didn't want to take the chance of choppy video. Overall this laptop is great for its lightness and Windows 7 seems to be pretty excellent (I like XP, not a huge fan of Vista). The video watching is pretty good. I would have rated this with 5 stars if full-screen video wasn't a bit shaky.

Olympus PEN E-PL1 12.3MP Live MOS Micro Four Thirds Interchangeable Lens Digital Camera with 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 Zuiko Digital Zoom Lens (Black)
What do you get when you take Olympus PEN and mix it with a stripper (Of course I mean someone who strips features from a camera). You get the E-PL1 camera which is a little bit of a mixed bag. On the one hand you have one of the best versions of the m4/3 sensor to date. From what I have read it is better than both the E-P1 and E-P2 sensors. It is hard to tell the difference at normal screen and printing resolutions and I take a picture at its whole and don't pixel peep so I cannot verify that. What I can say is this camera is capable of producing world class images. Additionally, this camera has the Olympus JPEG engine which is regarded in the business as one of the best. This camera is also relatively small and light and includes a fill flash. Additionally, it has image stabilization (IS) built into the camera. It is not pocketable and the size of this camera has more to do with the lens that it is wearing then the actual camera itself. On the other hand, you have a camera that

ASUS UL20A-A1 Thin and Light 12.1-Inch Silver Laptop - 7.5 Hours of Battery Life (Windows 7 Home Premium)

I bought this notebook about a month and a half ago and I love it. It's small, easy to carry, fast and it looks very slick. I upgraded the RAM to 4GB, a very easy process, just open the back and pop an extra 2GB stick into the empty slot (Just make sure you push them all the way into the slot). I've been getting about 5-6 hours of battery life in battery saving mode and that has been more then enough to last me between chances to plug it in. I'm a computer science major and I have been using this laptop to do some programming, compiling and even testing of my project, which involves running Starcraft, which this machine can handle just fine. With the RAM upgrade multitasking is very smooth, its not uncommon for me to have 8+ different programs open when I am writing code and this notebook can handle it. I've also been using this notebook to play movies on my housemate's projector, full HD movie playback without skipping, great quality. What else needs to be said? if you are looking for

Nikon D90 DX 12.3MP Digital SLR Camera with 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S VR DX Nikkor Zoom Lens
+ 0 likes
I purchased a Nikon D90 and received the Camera and 18-105 telephoto lens on December 23, 2010, and subsequently purchased an additional 70-300 telephoto lens and some filters and began taking pictures. The picture quality is excellent with either standard or fine quality and with the exception of taking a picture with too much backlight the quality of my 300 or so pictues are flawless. I usually set the shots to auto and let the camera do the work although the camera creates some great effects on aperature or shutter priority depending on focal depth or shutter speed sensitivity. I have used the camera for two months and will update with further comments as time goes on. In short it has been a great tool and will let you know how it performs over time. The D90 makes me look like an experienced photographer when I show my prints or view shots on my computer.

This is my first digital slr, I know there are better ones out there but for the money and all the options you get with it is amazing. The clarity of the pics you take even when blown up are top rated. Taking pics have been truely a pleasure, I know many of you will enjoy this camera.

Samsung TL220 DualView 12.2MP Digital Camera in Blue+ 8GB Accessory Kit

I was reluctant to purchase this camera because of the high price tag, but I researched and found good reviews on it, so I decided to try it. I am a Silver Premier, so I had 45 days to determine if I was satisfied. Here I am 7 months later and have had zero complications with this camera. I enjoy taking pictures and having the ability to change the color (e.g. Black and White, Sepia). I rarely ever have to charge this camera, the battery life is exceptional. I have read some negative reviews about this camera concerning the auto focus and blurriness. Please disregard the negatives, those individuals obviously cannot read a manual. This is especially good for individuals with children, as we all know they cannot sit still. This camera has no issue with capturing a moving object flawlessly. (It does require some changing of specs-- e.g.-"dual" mode) This camera is a bit more complicated than I wanted, but can easily be understood with practice. I love all aspects of this camera and despite

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W290 12 MP Digital Camera with 5x Optical Zoom and Super Steady Shot Image Stabilization (Dark Blue)

From the first time I used this camera, I was really impressed by how easy it was to take good pictures. It's really fool-proof, which is great for me and my family. I bought it on sale @ the greenville store for $179.99 and also bought the 8GB memory stick for $39.99. The stick can hold about 1700 images, which is great due to the fact that I take alot of them. Mostly, of my niece and her brother....I definitely would recommend this camera to everybody in a heart beat. The only thing about it I have trouble about is the battery life not lasting very long.

Canon PowerShot SD780 IS Digital Camera

My first generation digital Canon camera final gave up after lots of heavy use and abuse. In looking for a replacement there were so many positive reviews on the SD780 that I wondered if it was some sort of marketing gimmick. Well, I liked the styling, the specs, and the price so I thought I'd take a chance on it and can now see why others were so enthusiastic. To be honest when I first opened the box the camera was about the size of a deck of cards and was quite smaller than I expected. I wondered if I could even work the buttons. No worries. The size grew on me (if you will excuse the pun) and although the power button is smaller than I would prefer, the rest of the controls can be manipulated comfortably. I bought the gold color camera and think it's beautiful. For starters the camera is pretty intuitive if you just want to jump into it, but I recommend studying the manual at some point to really understand the finer points and incredible features. By the way, unlike others, this

This Nikon is definitely worth buying. I saved up for a while to get it. I had a Nikon cool pix for point and shoot for about 5 years and always wanted to take better pictures and now I can. It's just a matter of understanding all the options and complexities of the camera to be able to do so. If it's something you don't mind putting some time into I'd definitely get this camera. It's got a great standard camera feel to it, but has the convienience of digital!

The second LCD on the front is revolutionary and excellent for taking pictures of yourself when no one else is around. This camera takes very good pictures. The video quality is lacking. I shot a few videos while walking slowly and watching it back they were extremely shaky. Zooming in or out while shooting disables the sound for a second while the camera readjusts.

Nikon D300s 12MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera (Body Only)

i upgraded from a d-60, which was my entry level started dslr camera, and my step up from film and my 2 point and shoot canon and sony's. i loved it and never really had anything negative to say about it other than burst mode was a little slow. pic quality was excellent. but you get to a point where you want to be flexible and more creative. and i carry a camera every day everywhere i go. so i felt like i had grown and was time to upgrade. after alot of research and comparing and debating, i opted for the d300s. i will probably never use the movie mode, thats what a camcorder is for. i wanted better pictures and a more flexible and responsive camera. i do not regret 1 thing about buying the d300s. i held and played with canon, sony, and olympus, and the nikon just feels better and controls are pretty much where they should be... expect the auto/manual/continuous focus... could be better placed, but oh well. it is a big step and by no means a starter camera or a "point and shoot", even though

i've had this camera for about 3 months and its great. i recently dropped it in a river and to my surprise i let it dry out and it worked perfectly! the picture quality is good but you have to have a really steady hand in low light. its very easy to use and takes pictures fast. it also has a nice large viewing screen on the back.
